[Atrophic polychondritis associated with ulcerative colitis]. / Polychondrite chronique atrophiante associée à une rectocolite hémorragique.

We report the case of a 46-year-old patient in whom ulcerative colitis had been diagnosed three years ago. He was admitted to the hospital for swelling of the nose. Clinical course and complementary exams led us to diagnose atrophic polychondritis. Twelve cases of such an association have been published so far.

Severe oral ulcerations induced by alendronate.

The authors report the case of a 54-year-old man suffering from steroid-induced osteoporosis, who presented with severe oral ulcerations due to sucking alendronate tablets instead of swallowing them. The misuse of alendronate in this case, underlies the risk of direct mucosal injury with this drug.
