RESUMO

Altogether 120 studies with a dynamic kidney phantom (DKP) were conducted permitting one to imitate the normal functioning of the kidneys or different pathological states of the organ. The studies were conducted with the help of a gamma-chamber of MV-9100 type using a computer system SEGAMS (Hungary) and a chronoscope RIKh-5M-01. On completion of the experiment the activity-time curves were plotted characterizing the time course of the passage of a radioactive tracer through phantom cylinders that imitate the kidneys. The results obtained have demonstrated DKP potentialities for the imitation of various renal functional states. Studies with a DKP make it possible to select an optimum regimen for research and to assess the quality of performance of nuclear medical diagnostic equipment.

RESUMO

The authors present a simplified technique for the processing of the results of a study performed in a department that is not fitted out with a computer. Primary data are collected using a gamma-chamber with an analyzer or a radiocirculograph. Three examples of the graphic approximation of primary dynamic curves are given.

RESUMO

The paper is concerned with mathematical calculations of two methods to determine the amount of the functioning renal parenchyma using the polyposition statistic scintigraphy data. These methods are used to determine the depth of kidney location from the body surface in the lumbar region. An analysis of polyposition scintigraphy of 122 patients without tumor lesion has shown that in 41.7% of the cases the difference in the depth of location was over 1 cm. in 13.1% over 2 cm and in 5.7% over 3 cm. If one of the kidneys is shifted forward by 3 cm, in scintigraphy gamma-irradiation from this kidney for 99mTc will be weakened more than 1.5 times, and for 197Hg more than 1.75 times. It is only in renal insufficiency and in obese patients that the method of estimated RPD accumulation in the kidneys with regard to lateral projections is the best as compared to that using the results of scintigraphy of front and back projections.

RESUMO

The method for quantitative evaluation of the transfer of 90mTc-albumin bolus to the heart through the vena cava superior system in scintigraphy on the commonly used gamma chambers with a computer PdP-11/40 is substantiated. It was established that in patients with pulmonary hypertension the average pulmonary circulation time is reduced and the bolus is retained at the level of the trunk of the pulmonary artery, whereas in diminished contractility of the myocardium of the right heart the rate of venous blood return to the heart is reduced and the bolus is retained at the level of the subclavian vein.

RESUMO

A set of radiocirculographic attachments is offered which serves for calibration and verification of readings taken from the apparatus during radiographic procedures. The set is designed for operation with all colimators of radiocirculographs produced in the USSR and Hungarian People's Republic. The set is able to imitate the investigation geometry, accumulation of radioactivity in the organ under study, absorption and scattering of radioactivty in the organism tissues. Series production of this device has already been initiated.

RESUMO

A comparative characteristics of modern scintillation chambers manufactured by different firms is given. Basic parameters of the chambers and the methods of their appraisal effected by using computer technique are considered and results obtained by comparing major parameters of three chamber models ("Fo-Gamma III HP", "Fo-Gamma LFOV" and "Daina-2C") through experimental procedures by following a chosen method are presented. The authors come to the conclusion that the use of computer technique tends to greatly facilitate the procedure of the chambers' control and increases the significance and reliability of the scintigraphic findings.

RESUMO

Problems concerned with the use of desk computers in the nuclear medicine are considered, viz. the structure of technical components in the radiodiagnostic systems and mathematical logistics, an analysis into comparative characteristics of some systems, as well as the experience gained by the authors in elaborating specialized mathematical logistics. This experience and a pertinent analysis prompted the authors to conclude that the use of a computer at each stage of a radioisotope investigation is a matter of necessity and of top importance, without, however, being of cardinal aid in establishing a diagnosis. An effective instrument that will be capable of rendering good service to medicine at the present level of its development should be complex diagnostic systems, whose creation will be the aim of further research work.
