RESUMO

As a result of the conducted researches it is shown that 44.1% of urinary tract infections (UTIS) caused by E. coli are accounted for by producers of beta-lactamase of the extended spectrum of action (ESBL). Associated resistance to fluoroquinolones and co-trimoxazole was found in 93.3% of BLRS-producing E. coli strains. All studied strains regardless of ESBL production were sensitive to imipenem, the majority showed sensitivity to ertapenem, gentamicin and resistance to doxycycline. Not producing ESBL strains of E. coli were sensitive to fosfomycin. Comparison of data obtained during testing of isolated cultures on ESBL, study of their sensitivity and resistance to beta-lactams (amoxicillin/clavulanate, ceftazidime, ceftriaxone, cefotaxime, imipenem) indicates the need to test isolates for AmpC products. To this end, during the screening test for ESBL and the method of «double disks¼, along with cephalosporins of III generation, it is necessary to use a phenotypic test for sensitivity to cefepime. The use of test results of E. coli isolates isolated from patients with UTIS for the production of ESBL, ampC enzymes, carbapenemase and sensitivity to AMP will improve the effectiveness of antimicrobial therapy and will help to curb the formation and spread of antimicrobial-resistan strains.

RESUMO

Dried cholera diagnosticum for the slide coagglutination test was obtained. The diagnosticum, found to be highly active and specific, permitted the detection of Vibrio cholerae in the analyzed material at a concentration of 10(6)-10(8) microbial cells/ml. The diagnosticum was used during cholera epidemic in Daghestan for the detection and rapid identification of cholera vibrios. In all cases the positive results of the coagglutination test were confirmed by other investigation methods (no cases of hyperdiagnosis was registered). The production of these diagnostica in small batches on the basis of specialized research laboratories was recommended.

RESUMO

190 V. cholerae cultures isolated by the specialized antiepidemic brigade of the Rostov-on-Don Research Institute for Plague Control in the Khasavyurt, Babayurt and Novolaksk regions of Daghestan in August-October 1994. All isolated strains were typical with respect to their morphological and cultural properties and could be agglutinated (with the exception of one strain) to the titer or half-titer with diagnostic cholera serum and Ogawa serum. 4 strains had signs of RO-dissociation, 4 strains were agglutinated with Inaba serum in a low titer. All strains were resistant to diagnostic bacteriophages. Cyproxin and doxicycline proved to be the most active agents for the treatment of patients. Agglutinins, vibriocidins and antidermonectrotic antibodies in diagnostic titers were detected in the sera of all patients and Vibrio carriers.

RESUMO

The chemotaxis of V. cholerae in response to 56 different substances (amino acids, carbohydrates, salts, etc.) has been studied by the methods of visual observation and quantitative determination. Attractants, neutral substances and one repellent have been revealed. Adler's method (1973) has been modified with regard to the requirements for the working procedures in handling the causative agents of highly dangerous infections.
