RESUMO

Energy metabolism was studied in experiments on rats with due regard for the individual features of the organism's reaction to trauma. The animals were divided into 2 subgroups according to the survival period during the experiment. Disorders of mitochondrial function were revealed in both subgroups, but they differed in degree according to the severity of the process. Preliminary injection of the antioxidant ionol prolonged the animals' survival and prevented disorders of mitochondrial function. The article discusses the possibility of preventing activation of free-radical oxidation of the membrane lipids and removal of their damaging effect on the mitochondria with ionol.

RESUMO

The authors studied the mechanisms of disorders of energy provision of myocardial contractility in rabbits in hemorrhagic shock and appraised the efficacy of a new Soviet-produced agent dalargin possessing an antiadrenergic property. It is shown that dalargin exerts a significant effect on the condition of the cardiovascular system and the function of the myocardial mitochondria (MC). The effect differed depending on the time of the injection and the condition of the organism. Increase of the heart contractive function, improvement of MC function, and prolonged survival of the animals were encountered only in rabbits who received dalargin 30 minutes after blood loss. The mechanisms of the effects of dalargin in acute blood loss are discussed.

RESUMO

The changes in the oxidative metabolism of rabbit myocardium in hemorrhagic shock were studied. The external pathway of NADH oxidation was shown to be activated, while the rates of glutamate oxidation in the presence of an uncoupler were diminished as compared to control values. These changes are probably due to the activation of phospholipase A2 and lipid peroxidation, since their inhibitors eliminate with the same efficiency the activation of the external pathway of NADH oxidation both in normal and damaged myocardium.

RESUMO

Essential features of the methods and results of an automated system-analytic investigation procedure with well-defined psychic load are described. This was developed with the aim of recognizing disturbances in the psychophysiological system behaviour as premorbid stages of the most important cardiovascular diseases. Results thus obtained show a.o. that healthy subjects and patients suffering from ischemic heart disease can be classified with high reliability according to their psychophysiological system behaviour. A differentiation could be obtained as well on the basis of personality characteristics. The results support the hypothesis underlying the development of this procedure.

RESUMO

The state of energy exchange on the basis of respiratory chain reactions of myocardial mitochondria and contractility of bundles of glycerinated muscle fibers in traumatic shock, were investigated. The mitochondria isolated from animal myocardium at the terminal stage of traumatic shock were found to be capable to carry out oxidative phosphorylation at the level typical for healthy animal mitochondria. Parallel tensometric analyses of contractility of bundles of glycerinated muscle fibers showed that in rats and dogs with traumatic shock the most pronounced changes occur in isometric tension and specific power. At the same time relative fiber shortening under isotonic conditions is insignificantly reduced.

RESUMO

Spontaneous slow potentials with amplitude ranging from 25 mcV to 1.3 mV and wave duration from 600 to 6000 msec was recorded in the receptive area of the ciliary body. The same potentials persisted even 15--20 min after the death of animal in the enucleative eye as well as in the isolated preparation of the ciliary body with sclera. The rise of the intraocular pressure up to 30--35 mm Hg augments the potentials whereas further rise up to 45 mm Hg and more suppresses them. Electrostimulation acts in a similar way: square pulses of 25 mcV augment the potentials' amplitude whereas the 250 mcV pulses reduce it.
