RESUMO
The authors present a case of pyomyositis of the piriformis muscle. This case, the first in the English speaking literature of piriformis involvement in a juvenile, serves to illustrate the need for a high index of suspicion when treating children with symptoms related to impalpable pathology deep in the pelvis and the usefulness of MRI in early diagnosis and treatment before abscess formation. It also shows the potentially wide differential diagnosis in which the signs and symptoms may be misleading due to the close relationship of the pelvic muscles with the hip joint and adjacent viscera.

This paper describes the B-mode, colour and spectral Doppler appearances of breast pseudoaneurysm - a rare vascular complication of ultrasound-guided needle core biopsy. Previously reported cases of spontaneous and iatrogenic pseudoaneurysm of the breast are reviewed. The significance of this potentially serious complication is discussed with reference to the increasing use of imaging and image guided techniques in the diagnosis of breast disease.

Hydrofluoric acid (HF) is a highly dangerous substance with a wide range of industrial as well as domestic applications. It is unique in both the severity of the cutaneous burns it may produce, and its potential for systemic and occasionally lethal toxicity. The literature on the treatment of HF injuries is extensive, though occasionally confusing and often contradictory, with no coherent management policy emerging. In this paper we present a comprehensive account of the evolution of therapy, drawing on clinical reports and experimental studies.

A rare case of intracranial extension of a naso-ethmoid schwannoma is presented. Its subsequent removal with few sequelae confirmed the benign nature and good prognosis of the disease.
