Background: [18F] AlF-NOTA-FAPI-04 is a novel positron emission tomography (PET) ligand, which specifically targets fibroblast activation protein (FAP) expression as a FAP inhibitor (FAPI). We analysed the diagnostic value of [18F] AlF-NOTA-FAPI-04 PET/CT for the non-invasive assessment of kidney interstitial inflammation and fibrosis in different renal pathologies. Methods: Twenty-six patients (14 males and 12 females; mean age, 50.5 ± 16.5 years) with a wide range of kidney diseases and 10 patients (six males and four females; mean age, 55.4 ± 8.6 years) without known evidence of renal disease as disease controls underwent [18F] AlF-NOTA-FAPI-04 PET/CT imaging. Kidney tissues obtained from kidney biopsies were stained with haematoxylin and eosin, periodic acid-Schiff, Masson's trichome, and periodic acid-silver methenamine. Immunohistochemical staining was also performed to assess the expression of α-smooth muscle actin (αSMA) and FAP. Renal parenchymal FAPI uptake reflected by maximum standardized uptake value (SUVmax) and mean standardized uptake value (SUVmean) measurements on PET/CT was analysed against pathohistological findings. Results: We found that renal parenchymal FAPI uptake was significantly higher in patients with various kidney diseases than in control patients in this study (SUVmax = 4.3 ± 1.8 vs 1.9 ± 0.4, SUVmean=3.9 ± 1.7 vs 1.5 ± 0.4, respectively; all P < 0.001). All kidney diseases, both in acute and chronic kidney disease, had increased renal parenchymal uptake to varying degrees. The correlation analysis indicated a positive association between the SUVmax and the tubulointerstitial inflammation (TII), interstitial fibrosis and tubular atrophy (IF/TA), and TII + IF/TA scores (r = 0.612, 0.681, and 0.754, all P < 0.05), and between the SUVmean and the TII, IF/TA, and TII + IF/TA scores (r = 0.603, 0.700, and 0.748, all P < 0.05). Furthermore, we found significant positive correlations between both SUVmax and the SUVmean with SMA and FAP staining scores (r = 0.686 and 0.732, r = 0.667 and 0.739, respectively; both P < 0.001). Conclusions: [18F] AlF-NOTA-FAPI-04 PET/CT is clinically available for the comprehensive and non-invasive assessment of tubular injury in various kidney diseases.

Some pregnant women have to experience non-obstetric surgery during pregnancy under general anesthesia. Our previous studies showed that maternal exposure to sevoflurane, isoflurane, propofol, and ketamine causes cognitive deficits in offspring. Histone acetylation has been implicated in synaptic plasticity. Propofol is commonly used in non-obstetric procedures on pregnant women. Previous studies in our laboratory showed that maternal propofol exposure in pregnancy impairs learning and memory in offspring by disturbing histone acetylation. The present study aims to investigate whether HDAC inhibitor suberoylanilide hydroxamic acid (SAHA) could attenuate learning and memory deficits in offspring caused by maternal surgery under propofol anesthesia during mid-pregnancy. Maternal rats were exposed to propofol or underwent abdominal surgery under propofol anesthesia during middle pregnancy. The learning and memory abilities of the offspring rats were assessed using the Morris water maze (MWM) test. The protein levels of histone deacetylase 2 (HDAC2), phosphorylated cAMP response-element binding (p-CREB), brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF), and phosphorylated tyrosine kinase B (p-TrkB) in the hippocampus of the offspring rats were evaluated by immunofluorescence staining and western blot. Hippocampal neuroapoptosis was detected by TUNEL staining. Our results showed that maternal propofol exposure during middle pregnancy impaired the water-maze learning and memory of the offspring rats, increased the protein level of HDAC2 and reduced the protein levels of p-CREB, BDNF and p-TrkB in the hippocampus of the offspring, and such effects were exacerbated by surgery. SAHA alleviated the cognitive dysfunction and rescued the changes in the protein levels of p-CREB, BDNF and p-TrkB induced by maternal propofol exposure alone or maternal propofol exposure plus surgery. Therefore, SAHA could be a potential and promising agent for treating the learning and memory deficits in offspring caused by maternal nonobstetric surgery under propofol anesthesia.

Background: The prevention and treatment of malnutrition holds remarkable implications in the overall management of dialysis patients. However, there remains a dearth of comprehensive evaluations regarding the impact of oral nutrition supplement (ONS) on all pertinent dimensions of malnutrition in the dialysis population. Methods: A systematic search was conducted in MEDLINE, EMBASE, and Cochrane Central Library. RCTs that had assessed the effects of oral nutritional supplement in dialysis-dependent populations were considered eligible. Outcomes included laboratory indicators, anthropometric measures, nutritional indices, dialysis adequacy, body composition analysis measures, and systemic inflammation indicators. The risk of bias was assessed according to Cochrane guidelines. Weighted mean difference (WMD) or standardized mean difference (SMD) with 95% confidence intervals (CIs) were pooled using a random-effects model. Results: In all, 22 RCTs with 1,281 patients were included. The pooled analyses revealed the serum ALB, BMI, nPCR, and MIS improved by 1.44 g/L (95% CI: 0.76, 2.57), 0.35 kg/m2 (95% CI: 0.17, 0.52), 0.07 g/(kg d) (95% CI, 0.05, 0.10), and -2.75 (95% CI, -3.95, -1.54), respectively following ONS treatments when compared to control treatments. However, no significant differences were observed in relation to the other outcomes examined. 15 studies were rated as having high risk of bias. Visual inspection of the funnel plot and Egger test argued against the presence of publication bias. Conclusion: ONS treatments helps to improve the nutritional status of dialysis dependent patients. More evidence is needed from future investigations with longer study duration and standardized procedures to support long-term use of ONS in this population. The objective was to provide a comprehensive summary of existing evidence on the efficacy and safety of hypoxia-inducible factor-prolyl hydroxylase inhibitors (HIF-PHIs) for the treatment of anemia in chronic kidney disease (CKD). A systematic search was conducted in the Medline, Embase, and Cochrane databases. Only meta-analyses that evaluated the efficacy and safety of HIF-PHI treatment for anemia in CKD were included. The efficacy outcomes included hemoglobin levels and iron metabolism indices, while the safety outcomes were assessed by examining adverse events. The qualities of methodologies and evidence were assessed using the AMSTAR 2 system and the NutriGrade tool, respectively. Fourteen meta-analyses, comprising 105 distinct comparisons, were included. The comparisons were backed by evidence of high, moderate, and low levels, distributed in approximately equal proportions. None of the studies were deemed to possess a high level of confidence. In both the overall and individual treatment groups of HIF-PHI, there was an increase in the levels of hemoglobin, transferrin, and transferrin saturation, while the levels of hepcidin and total iron binding capacity decreased. Serum ferritin exhibited a reduction to some extent, while serum iron did not show significant alterations following HIF-PHI treatments. There were no notable disparities in safety outcomes between the HIF-PHI and erythropoietin stimulating agents or placebo groups. This umbrella review suggests that HIF-PHI treatment can effectively increase hemoglobin levels in CKD patients and enhance iron metabolism by decreasing hepcidin levels and improving iron transport. The safety profiles of HIF-PHIs were generally comparable to those of ESA therapies or placebos.

Objective: A novel albumin-to-alkaline phosphatase ratio (AAPR) is associated with the prognosis of several cancers. In the present study, we evaluate the prognostic significance of perioperative AAPR in urological cancers. Method: Relevant studies were searched comprehensively from CNKI, PubMed, Embase and Web of Science up to March 2023. The pooled hazard ratio (HR) and 95% confidence interval (CI) were extracted from each study to evaluate the prognostic value of perioperative AAPR in patients with surgically treated urological cancers. Results: A total of 8 studies consisting of 3,271 patients were included in the final results. A low AAPR was significantly associated with a worse OS (HR=2.21; P<0.001), CSS (HR=2.61; P<0.001) and RFS/DFS (HR=2.87; P=0.001). Stratified by disease, a low AAPR was also associated with worse OS in renal cell carcinoma (HR=2.01; P<0.001), bladder cancer (HR=3.37; P<0.001) and upper tract urothelial carcinoma (HR=1.59; P=0.002). Conclusion: In conclusion, low AAPR could serve as an unfavorable factor in patients with surgically treated urological cancers. Stratified by tumor type, the low AAPR was also associated with inferior survival. While more prospective and large-scale studies are warranted to validate our findings.

BACKGROUND: Primary membranous nephropathy (PMN) has a heterogeneous natural course. Immunosuppressive therapy is recommended for PMN patients at moderate or high risk of renal function deterioration. Prediction models for the treatment failure of PMN have rarely been reported. METHODS: This study retrospectively studied patients diagnosed as PMN by renal biopsy at Sichuan Provincial People's Hospital from January 2017 to December 2020. Information on clinical characteristics, laboratory test results, pathological examination, and treatment was collected. The outcome was treatment failure, defined as the lack of complete or partial remission at the end of 12 months. Simple logistic regression was used to identify candidate predictive variables. Forced-entry stepwise multivariable logistic regression was used to develop the prediction model, and performance was evaluated using C-statistic, calibration plot, and decision curve analysis. Internal validation was performed by bootstrapping. RESULTS: In total, 310 patients were recruited for this study. 116 patients achieved the outcome. Forced-entry stepwise multivariable logistic regression indicated that PLA2Rab titer (OR = 1.002, 95% CI: 1.001-1.004, p = 0.003), inflammatory cells infiltration (OR = 2.753, 95% CI: 1.468-5.370, p = 0.002) and C3 deposition on immunofluorescence (OR = 0.217, 95% CI: 0.041-0.964, p = 0.049) were the three independent risk factors for treatment failure of PMN. The final prediction model had a C-statistic (95% CI) of 0.653 (0.590-0.717) and a net benefit of 23%-77%. CONCLUSIONS: PLA2R antibody, renal interstitial inflammation infiltration, and C3 deposition on immunofluorescence were the three independent risk factors for treatment failure in PMN. Our prediction model might help identify patients at risk of treatment failure; however, the performance awaits improvement.

RESUMO

Huaganjian decoction (HGJD) has been widely used clinically to treat liver injuries and gastritis. However, the quality evaluation system for HGJD is not perfect. In this study, paeoniflorin, hesperidin, geniposide, naringin, and quercetin were employed as quality markers. The quantitative analysis of these five components in HGJD was conducted using a high-performance liquid chromatography coupled with triple quadrupole tandem mass spectrometry method. This method underwent validation for linearity, precision, accuracy, repeatability, and recovery. In summary, a reliable quantitative method was successfully employed to establish a comprehensive quality evaluation of HGJD.

BACKGROUND: There is still a lack of high-level evidence on the effects of problem-based learning (PBL) in general medical and nursing education. AIMS: We aimed to summarize current evidence on the effects of PBL in delivering medical and nursing education from randomized controlled trials (RCTs). METHODS: A systematic search was performed in MEDLINE, EMBASE, Cochrane Central Library, and CINAHL Complete. RCTs that assessed the effects of a PBL module in delivering medical education were eligible. Outcomes included knowledge, performance, and satisfaction. The risk of bias was assessed according to Cochrane handbook guidelines. Standardized mean differences with 95% confidence intervals of each outcome between PBL and control groups were pooled using a random-effects model. RESULTS: In all, 22 RCTs with 1969 participants were included. Both pooled analyses of changes in scores compared with baseline and absolute post-interventional scores favored PBL module in knowledge and performance. The satisfaction degree was also higher in participants receiving PBL methods. Publication bias might exist in satisfaction; however, not in knowledge and performance. Eleven of the 22 studies were assessed as having a high risk of bias. LINKING EVIDENCE TO ACTION: Compared with traditional lecture-based modules, PBL delivered medical education in different medical science specialities more efficiently from both theoretical knowledge and practice skill perspectives. The feedback from participants receiving PBL methods was more positive than that from those receiving traditional methods. However, the high heterogeneity and low quality of the included studies prevented drawing definite conclusions.

Importance: Despite the expansion of published prediction models for acute kidney injury (AKI), there is little evidence of uptake of these models beyond their local derivation nor data on their association with patient outcomes. Objective: To systematically review published AKI prediction models across all clinical subsettings. Data Sources: MEDLINE via PubMed (January 1946 to April 2021) and Embase (January 1947 to April 2021) were searched using medical subject headings and text words related to AKI and prediction models. Study Selection: All studies that developed a prediction model for AKI, defined as a statistical model with at least 2 predictive variables to estimate future occurrence of AKI, were eligible for inclusion. There was no limitation on study populations or methodological designs. Data Extraction and Synthesis: Two authors independently searched the literature, screened the studies, and extracted and analyzed the data following the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Review and Meta-analyses guideline. The data were pooled using a random-effects model, with subgroups defined by 4 clinical settings. Between-study heterogeneity was explored using multiple methods, and funnel plot analysis was used to identify publication bias. Main Outcomes and Measures: C statistic was used to measure the discrimination of prediction models. Results: Of the 6955 studies initially identified through literature searching, 150 studies, with 14.4 million participants, met the inclusion criteria. The study characteristics differed widely in design, population, AKI definition, and model performance assessments. The overall pooled C statistic was 0.80 (95% CI, 0.79-0.81), with pooled C statistics in different clinical subsettings ranging from 0.78 (95% CI, 0.75-0.80) to 0.82 (95% CI, 0.78-0.86). Between-study heterogeneity was high overall and in the different clinical settings (eg, contrast medium-associated AKI: I2 = 99.9%; P < .001), and multiple methods did not identify any clear sources. A high proportion of models had a high risk of bias (126 [84.4%]) according to the Prediction Model Risk Of Bias Assessment Tool. Conclusions and Relevance: In this study, the discrimination of the published AKI prediction models was good, reflected by high C statistics; however, the wide variation in the clinical settings, populations, and predictive variables likely drives the highly heterogenous findings that limit clinical utility. Standardized procedures for development and validation of prediction models are urgently needed.

We aimed to investigate the mechanisms of Brahma related gene 1 (BRG1) in promoting vascular calcification in chronic kidney disease (CKD). The expression of BRG1 was examined in high phosphorus stimulated rat aortic smooth muscle cells (RASMCs) and calcified artery tissues from rat models and hemodialysis patients. Autophagosome formation was measured in high phosphorus stimulated RASMCs with and without BRG1 knock-down. We also detected the coexistence of BGR1 and exosomes, and measured the circulatory levels of BRG1 in the hemodialysis patients. BRG1 promoted the osteogenic transdifferentiation of RASMCs. Silencing BRG1 prevented autophagy from being induced by high phosphorus stimulation in RASMCs. Increased expression of BRG1 was observed in calcified blood vessels. Serum BRG1 level increased in the hemodialysis patients. BRG1 was involved in the development of high phosphorus induced osteogenic phenotype in vitro and in vivo, and its underlying mechanism might be facilitating autophagy.

BACKGROUND: Podocyte infolding glomerulopathy (PIG) is a peculiar and very rare manifestation in renal pathology. Its underlying pathogenesis mechanism and clinical characteristics remain unclear due to sparse reports. OBJECTIVE: To further elucidate the clinical profile of PIG by carefully reporting our four cases and a comprehensive review of cases in the literature. METHODS: This study retrospectively reviewed four cases of PIG from 2010 to 2022 in our centre. Clinical and pathological profiles were reported. PIG cases in the literature were searched in the MEDLINE database and analysed together with our cases. RESULTS: Four cases of PIG identified from our centre and 40 cases from the current literature were reported. The pooled analysis of these 44 cases indicated 79.5% (35/44) were females, 93.2% (41/44) were East Asians, and 63.6% (28/44) were reported in Japan. The average age was 42.0 ± 12.5 years old. The average amount of proteinuria at the time of renal biopsy was 3.06 ± 3.2 g/day. The most reported comorbidities were connective tissue diseases, mainly systemic lupus erythematosus, and 20.5% (9/44) of the cases did not have any contaminant disease. Most of the cases (81.8%, 36/44) had been treated with immunosuppressants, of which a combination of corticosteroids and one other type of immunosuppressant was most commonly reported. In addition, 45.4% (20/44) and 34.1% (15/44) of the cases had achieved complete response and partial response, respectively, after treatment. Whole exosome sequencing indicated mutations in the INF2 gene. CONCLUSIONS: PIG is a rare condition and seen in relatively younger populations, often associated with connective tissue diseases clinically and one or two other glomerulopathies histologically. The outcomes following immunosuppressive treatment are relatively good. Mutations in INF2 might be involved in the development of PIG; however, the implications of these results need to be investigated.

BACKGROUND: Several statistical models for predicting prognosis of primary membranous nephropathy (PMN) have been proposed, most of which have not been as widely accepted in clinical practice. METHODS: A systematic search was performed in MEDLINE and EMBASE. English studies that developed any prediction models including two or more than two predictive variables were eligible for inclusion. The study population was limited to adult patients with pathologically confirmed PMN. The outcomes in eligible studies should be events relevant to prognosis of PMN, either disease progression or response profile after treatments. The risk of bias was assessed according to the PROBAST. RESULTS: In all, eight studies with 1237 patients were included. The pooled AUC value of the seven studies with renal function deterioration and/or ESRD as the predicted outcomes was 0.88 (95% CI: 0.85 to 0.90; I2 = 77%, p = 0.006). The paired forest plots for sensitivity and specificity with corresponding 95% CIs for each of these seven studies indicated the combined sensitivity and specificity were 0.76 (95% CI: 0.64 to 0.85) and 0.84 (95% CI: 0.80 to 0.88), respectively. All seven studies included in the meta-analysis were assessed as high risk of bias according to the PROBAST tool. CONCLUSIONS: The reported discrimination ability of included models was good; however, the insufficient calibration assessment and lack of validation studies precluded drawing a definitive conclusion on the performance of these prediction models. High-grade evidence from well-designed studies is needed in this field.

Traditional medicine, 'LuRu', is a commonly used Tibetan medicine for clearing away heat and detoxifying. Dried products of Pedicularis flava and Pedicularis muscicola are often used as 'LuRu' in the market. This study aims to compare the chemical constituents of P. flava and P. muscicola using GC-MS and UPLC-TOF-MS, and confirm which plant species is more suitable to be used as 'LuRu'. A total of 46 and 68 compounds were identified from the volatile and non-volatile components, respectively. Out of these, 17 and 37 volatile and non-volatile components, respectively, had pharmacological activities. P. flava showed a higher content of the same active components than P. muscicola. Good biological activities are only observed in the unique components in P. flava, and not in P. muscicola. The two herbs should not be mixed in clinical medication. Our study shows that P. flava is better suited as a high-quality herb for the Tibetan medicine, 'LuRu'.

BACKGROUND: Acute kidney injury (AKI) is independently associated with morbidity and mortality in a wide range of surgical settings. Nowadays, with the increasing use of electronic health records (EHR), advances in patient information retrieval, and cost reduction in clinical informatics, artificial intelligence is increasingly being used to improve early recognition and management for perioperative AKI. However, there is no quantitative synthesis of the performance of these methods. We conducted this systematic review and meta-analysis to estimate the sensitivity and specificity of artificial intelligence for the prediction of acute kidney injury during the perioperative period. METHODS: Pubmed, Embase, and Cochrane Library were searched to 2nd October 2021. Studies presenting diagnostic performance of artificial intelligence in the early detection of perioperative acute kidney injury were included. True positives, false positives, true negatives and false negatives were pooled to collate specificity and sensitivity with 95% CIs and results were portrayed in forest plots. The risk of bias of eligible studies was assessed using the PROBAST tool. RESULTS: Nineteen studies involving 304,076 patients were included. Quantitative random-effects meta-analysis using the Rutter and Gatsonis hierarchical summary receiver operating characteristics (HSROC) model revealed pooled sensitivity, specificity, and diagnostic odds ratio of 0.77 (95% CI: 0.73 to 0.81),0.75 (95% CI: 0.71 to 0.80), and 10.7 (95% CI 8.5 to 13.5), respectively. Threshold effect was found to be the only source of heterogeneity, and there was no evidence of publication bias. CONCLUSIONS: Our review demonstrates the promising performance of artificial intelligence for early prediction of perioperative AKI. The limitations of lacking external validation performance and being conducted only at a single center should be overcome. TRIAL REGISTRATION: This study was not registered with PROSPERO.

Background: To develop a risk prediction model for the occurrence of severe acute kidney injury (AKI) in intensive care unit (ICU) patients receiving fluid resuscitation. Methods: We conducted a secondary analysis of the Crystalloid vs. Hydroxyethyl Starch Trial (CHEST) trial, a blinded randomized controlled trial that enrolled ICU patients who received intravenous fluid resuscitation. The primary outcome was the first event in a composite outcome of doubling of serum creatinine and/or treatment with renal replacement treatment (RRT) within 28 days of randomization. The final model developed using multivariable logistic regression with backwards elimination was validated internally and then translated into a predictive equation. Results: Six thousand seven hundred twenty-seven ICU participants were studied, among whom 745 developed the study outcome. The final model having six variables, including admission diagnosis of sepsis, illness severity score, mechanical ventilation, tachycardia, baseline estimated glomerular filtration rate and emergency admission. The model had good discrimination (c-statistic = 0.72, 95% confidence interval 0.697-0.736) and calibration (Hosmer-Lemeshow test, χ2 = 14.4, p = 0.07) for the composite outcome, with a c-statistic after internal bootstrapping validation of 0.72, which revealed a low degree of over-fitting. The positive predictive value and negative predictive value were 58.8 and 89.1%, respectively. The decision curve analysis indicates a net benefit in prediction of severe AKI using the model across a range of threshold probabilities between 5 and 35%. Conclusions: Our model, using readily available clinical variables to identify ICU patients at high risk of severe AKI achieved good predictive performance in a clinically relevant population.

BACKGROUNDS: Published literatures on repeat renal biopsy of AL amyloidosis have basically reached a consensus that amyloid material deposit does not disappear or diminish after satisfactory hematologic response, regardless of renal response. However, the need of a repeat renal biopsy in such situation is still controversial. CASE PRESENTATION: Here we reported a case of histologically confirmed λ Type renal AL amyloidosis who had been classified as Stage I and low risk at initial diagnosis. The patient received a total of six courses of CyBorD chemotherapy. She had achieved complete hematologic remission after two courses of chemotherapy but consistently had large amount of proteinuria over 10 g/day during follow up. A repeat renal biopsy was performed nine months after the first one and indicated mild to moderate increase of amyloid deposits as well as significant glomerulosclerosis and interstitial lesions, suggesting a lack of histological renal improvement despite her satisfactory hematologic response. CONCLUSIONS: This case indicated renal involvement in AL amyloidosis could progress after successful hematologic treatment, and supported the value of repeat renal biopsy in the evaluation of AL amyloidosis patients lacking renal response despite of complete hematologic remission.

RATIONALE: Severe heart failure in chronic hemodialysis (HD) patients is a great treatment challenge. Here we reported a chronic HD patient with the lowest ejection fraction reported so far and hypotension who well tolerated and benefited from angiotensin-receptor neprilysin inhibitor (ARNI) treatment. PATIENT CONCERNS: This case was a 67 year old lady with decompensated heart failure and hypotension who was on regular HD. Intensified hemofiltration failed to improve her heart failure symptoms and was also retarded by hypotension. DIAGNOSIS: Chronic HD with decompensated heart failure. INTERVENTIONS: In addition to regular HD, low does sacubitril/valsartan was initiated and titrated from 12/13 mg to 24/26 mg twice daily. OUTCOMES: Sacubitril/valsartan treatment was well tolerated and did not affect ultrafiltration during HD treatment. Transthoracic echocardiology at 3 months after initiation of ARNI treatment indicated significant improvement of both systolic and diastolic cardiac function. The patient has improved from New York Heart Association class 4 to class 2. LESSONS: Low does ARNI treatment could effectively improve cardiac function in HD patients with heart failure and hypotension. It was also safe and well tolerated.

OBJECTIVE: Early recognition and prevention are important to reduce the risk of acute kidney injury (AKI). We aimed to build a novel multivariate time series prediction model for dynamic AKI prediction in general hospitalization. METHODS: Deidentified electronic data of all patients admitted in Sichuan Provincial Peoples Hospital during 1 January 2019 and 31 December 2019 was retrospectively collected. Variables including demographics, admission variables, lab investigation variables and prescription variables were extracted. The first 50 most frequently detected lab investigation variables were selected as the predictive variables. Features within three previous days were selected to predict the risk of AKI in the next 24 h. The model was built using recurrent neural network (RNN) algorithm integrated with a time series convolution module and an attention convolution module and internally validated using five-fold cross-validation. Area under the ROC curve (AUC) and recall rate were used to evaluate the performance. The model was compared with four other models built using other machine learning algorithms and published machine learning models in literature. RESULTS: 47,960 eligible admissions were identified, among which 2694 (5.6%) admissions were complicated by AKI. Our model has an AUC of 0.908 and a recall rate of 0.869, outperforming models generated by mainstay machine learning methods and most of the published machine learning models. CONCLUSION: This study reports a novel machine learning prediction model for AKI in general hospitalization which is based on RNN algorithm. The model outperforms models generated by mainstay machine learning methods and most of the published machine learning models.
