RESUMO

BACKGROUND: This meta-analysis was conducted to systematically evaluate the short-term efficacy and safety of indocyanine green (ICG) fluorescence imaging-guided laparoscopic hepatectomy. METHODS: A systematic search was conducted of the literature on ICG fluorescence imaging-guided laparoscopic hepatectomy in randomized, semi-randomized controlled trials and observational studies. The found publications and conference papers in English were manually searched and the references included in the literature were traced. The retrieval period was up to February 2021. After evaluating the quality of the included studies, the meta-analysis was conducted using the STATA 15.1 software. RESULTS: This meta-analysis included 6 studies comprising 417 patients with liver disease. The meta-results showed that compared to the control group, ICG fluorescence imaging-guided laparoscopic hepatectomy can significantly shorten the operative time [weighted mean differences (WMD) = -20.81, 95% CI, -28.02--13.59, p = 0.000], reduce intraoperative bleeding  [WMD = -108.16, 95% CI, -127.88--88.44, p = 0.000], shorten hospital stay  [WMD= -1.23,95% CI, -1.50--0.95, p = 0.000], and reduce the incidence of postoperative complications  [OR = 0.49,95% CI, 0.26-0.91, p = 0.025]. There were no differences in blood transfusion, hilar occlusion time, and surgical margin. CONCLUSION: The application of ICG fluorescence imaging technology in laparoscopic hepatectomy can effectively reduce the operative time, blood loss, hospital stay and the incidence of postoperative complications. However, more multicenter large-sample randomized controlled trials are needed to further confirm its advantages.

RESUMO

Wetlands are important sources and sinks for N2O. Exploring the role of N2O emissions in saline-alkali wetlands has great significance in understanding the nitrification mechanism of N2O production and assessing the role of saline-alkali wetlands in the greenhouse effect. The present study examined the N2O fluxes and environmental factors of a typical Zhalong reed wetland during the growing season. The results suggested that the N2O fluxes tended to decrease in volatility, with the highest value in mid-July. The mean flux of N2O was (37.49±15.75) µg·(m2·h)-1, indicating that the typical Zhalong reed wetland was a source of N2O. The N2O fluxes exhibited a significantly positive correlation with soil temperature at different depths (P<0.05), and the impact of the upper soil temperature on N2O flux was higher than that of deep soil. In the flooding period, the relationship between N2O fluxes and water table depth was negatively correlated (P<0.05). Meanwhile, the TOC and TN contents were lower, and the N2O flux was significantly positively correlated with the NH4+-N content in the 0-40 cm soil layer (P<0.05), but it was not related to NO3--N content. Nitrification was stronger than denitrification. There was a significant positive correlation between ammonia-oxidizing bacterial activity and soil temperature in 0-20 cm layer (P<0.01). Additionally, the activity of ammonia-oxidizing bacteria also presented significantly positive linear correlation with the N2O fluxes (P<0.001), which indicated that the release of N2O in saline-alkali wetlands was greatly affected by nitrification.

RESUMO

Parthenolide (PTL) and micheliolide (MCL) are sesquiterpene lactones with similar structures, and both of them have been reported to exhibit multiple biochemical and pharmacological activities. This study aims to investigate the inhibition of these two compounds on the activity of UDP-glucuronosyltransferases (UGTs). In vitro incubation mixture for recombinant UGTs-catalyzed glucuronidation metabolism of 4-methylumbelliferone (4-MU) was utilized to investigate the inhibition potential. Inhibition kinetics (including inhibition type and parameters) were determined, and in silico docking was employed to elucidate the inhibition difference between PTL and MCL on UGT1A1. MCL showed no inhibition toward all the UGT isoforms, and PTL showed strong inhibition toward UGT1A1. The half-maximal inhibitory concentration (IC50) of PTL on the activity of UGT1A1 was determined to be 64.4 µM. Inhibition kinetics determination showed that PTL exerted noncompetitive inhibition toward UGT1A1, and the inhibition kinetic constant (Ki) was determined to be 12.1 µM. In silico docking method has been employed to show that hydrogen bonds between PTL and the activity cavity of UGT1A1 contributed to the stronger inhibition of PTL on the activity of UGT1A1 than MCL. In conclusion, PTL can more easily induce drug-drug interaction (DDI) with clinical drugs mainly undergoing UGT1A1-catalyzed glucuronidation.

RESUMO

Phoxinus lagowskii is a freshwater fish that is widely distributed in China. In this study, a comparative analysis of the mtDNA control region (D-loop) was performed to analyze the natural population structure and genetic diversity of 54 individuals from eleven locations (T1, T2, T3, T4, T5, T6, T7, T8, T9, T10 and T11) which was divided with reservoirs. The estimated haplotype and nucleotide diversity were 0.734 and 0.03514, respectively. An AMOVA indicated that 79.78% of the total variation originated from individual populations and 20.22% came from variation within the 11 geographic populations, which showed high genetic differentiation among the 11 geographic groups. A test of neutral evolution and mismatch distribution indicated that historical expansion occurred in these populations. However, the findings of low genetic diversity and high genetic differentiation demonstrated that the reproduction isolated by reservoir has showed a certain effect for the development of the populations, and the results should provide new information for the conservation and exploitation of this species.

RESUMO

Inspired by the fact that the division of labor and cooperation play extremely important roles in the human history development, this paper develops a novel artificial bee colony algorithm based on information learning (ILABC, for short). In ILABC, at each generation, the whole population is divided into several subpopulations by the clustering partition and the size of subpopulation is dynamically adjusted based on the last search experience, which results in a clear division of labor. Furthermore, the two search mechanisms are designed to facilitate the exchange of information in each subpopulation and between different subpopulations, respectively, which acts as the cooperation. Finally, the comparison results on a number of benchmark functions demonstrate that the proposed method performs competitively and effectively when compared to the selected state-of-the-art algorithms.

RESUMO

Inspired by the fact that in modern society, team cooperation and the division of labor play important roles in accomplishing a task, this paper proposes a dual-population differential evolution (DPDE) with coevolution for constrained optimization problems (COPs). The COP is treated as a bi-objective optimization problem where the first objective is the actual cost or reward function to be optimized, while the second objective accounts for the degree of constraint violations. At each generation during the evolution process, the whole population is divided into two based on the solution's feasibility to treat the both objectives separately. Each subpopulation focuses on only optimizing the corresponding objective which leads to a clear division of work. Furthermore, DPDE makes use of an information-sharing strategy to exchange search information between the different subpopulations similar to the team cooperation. The comparison of the proposed method on a number of benchmark functions with selected state-of-the-art constraint-handling algorithms indicates that the proposed technique performs competitively and effectively.

RESUMO

The artificial bee colony (ABC) algorithm is a relatively new optimization technique which has been shown to be competitive to other population-based algorithms. However, ABC has an insufficiency regarding its solution search equation, which is good at exploration but poor at exploitation. To address this concerning issue, we first propose an improved ABC method called as CABC where a modified search equation is applied to generate a candidate solution to improve the search ability of ABC. Furthermore, we use the orthogonal experimental design (OED) to form an orthogonal learning (OL) strategy for variant ABCs to discover more useful information from the search experiences. Owing to OED's good character of sampling a small number of well representative combinations for testing, the OL strategy can construct a more promising and efficient candidate solution. In this paper, the OL strategy is applied to three versions of ABC, i.e., the standard ABC, global-best-guided ABC (GABC), and CABC, which yields OABC, OGABC, and OCABC, respectively. The experimental results on a set of 22 benchmark functions demonstrate the effectiveness and efficiency of the modified search equation and the OL strategy. The comparisons with some other ABCs and several state-of-the-art algorithms show that the proposed algorithms significantly improve the performance of ABC. Moreover, OCABC offers the highest solution quality, fastest global convergence, and strongest robustness among all the contenders on almost all the test functions.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the predicators of survival and recurrence after curative resection for gastric cancer patients with serosal invasion. METHODS: Clinical and follow-up data of 280 patients with T4a gastric cancer(according to the 7th UICC TNM Classification for gastric cancer) who underwent curative resection for gastric cancer between January 1997 and December 2003 were analyzed retrospectively. RESULTS: Five-year survival rate of these 280 patients was 50.0% and 158 patients (56.4%) presented with recurrence after surgery. The 3-year disease-free survival rate was 57.5%. The number of lymph node metastasis and metastatic lymph node ratio(MLR) were identified as the independent predicators for overall survival(P<0.05). The extent of lymph node metastasis was identified as the independent predicators for disease free survival (P<0.05). The extent of lymph node metastasis, the number of lymph node metastasis, and MLR were identified as the independent predicators for recurrence after surgery(P<0.05). CONCLUSIONS: The number of lymph node metastases, extent of lymph node metastasis and MLR are independent predictors of overall survival and recurrence in T4a gastric cancer patients after curative resection.

RESUMO

HSPB8 has been shown to be involved in regulation of cell proliferation and apoptosis, and it has also been found to have divergent properties in solid tumors. The purpose of this study was to investigate the expression and function of HSPB8 in hematopoietic malignancies. Expression and induced expression of HSPB8 was evaluated in hematopoietic tumor cell lines and bone marrow samples from patients with leukemia. Methylation status was investigated by methylation-specific polymerase chain reaction. The role of HSPB8 in hematopoietic malignancies was addressed by reintroducing HSPB8 expression into the K562 (leukemia) and Namalwa (lymphoma) cell lines. Expression of HSPB8 was absent in hematopoietic tumor cell lines and primary patient and normal volunteer samples. Promoter DNA methylation of HSPB8 was observed in these cells. HSPB8 expression could be restored after demethylation treatment with 5-aza-2'-deoxycytidine. Overexpression of HSPB8 reduced colony formation of both K562 and Namalwa cell lines, inhibited the cell growth of Namalwa in vitro, and suppressed tumor formation of K562 cells in vivo. The present study demonstrates that HSPB8 is silenced by DNA methylation in hematopoietic malignant and normal cells and its expression can be induced by treatment with 5-aza-2'-deoxycytidine. Overexpression of HSPB8 may have an antitumor activity in chronic myelogenous leukemia and lymphoma.

RESUMO

Characterizing genes associated with leukemic cell differentiation may provide help for understanding mechanisms on the leukemia differentiation. The aim of this study is to investigate whether the expression of melanoma differentiation-associated gene-7/interleukin-24 (mda-7/IL-24) could be induced during leukemia differentiation and whether mda-7/IL-24 plays a role in leukemia differentiation. We showed that the expression of mda-7/IL-24 and IL-24 delE5, an mda-7/IL-24 splice variant, was induced in U937 and HL60 cells during 12-O-tetradecanoylphorbol-13-acetate (TPA)-mediated monocytic differentiation. Activation of the mitogen-activated protein kinase/extracellular signal-regulated kinase pathway was required for their induction. Knockdown of mda-7/IL-24 and IL-24 delE5 resulted in significant inhibition of the monocytic differentiation induced by TPA. More importantly, ectopic overexpression of mda-7/IL-24 and IL-24 delE5 significantly induced U937 cells, HL60 cells, and blast cells from patients with acute myeloid leukemia-M5 to differentiate, whereas normal hematopoietic progenitors were not affected. Furthermore, the molecular effector associated with selective differentiation induction by mda-7/IL-24 and IL-24 delE5 may be reactive oxygen species (ROS), and the source of ROS generation was nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate oxidase. Taken together, our results reveal the mechanism by which TPA induces monocytic differentiation and show for the first time the specific differentiation-inducing effects of mda-7/IL-24 and IL-24 delE5 on human myeloid leukemic cells.
