RESUMO

Soil macro-aggregates are the main location for soil organic carbon (SOC) sequestration, which is of great significance to improve soil fertility. This study aimed to understand the mechanisms of the organic carbon (OC) sequestration in macroaggregates and improve crop yield in wheat fields on the loess plateau. With the aggregate-density fractionation method, an eight-year experiment was conducted to investigate the following three factors: ① the effects of long-term fertilization on OC fractions within macroaggregates; ② the variation characteristics of OC fractions within macroaggregates, including coarse particulate organic carbon (cPOC), fine particulate organic carbon (fPOC), intra-microaggregate particulate organic carbon (iPOC), free silt and clay particulate carbon (s+c_f), and intra-microaggregate silt and clay particulate carbon (s+c_m); ③ and the relationships between them and SOC input and yield formation. The treatments included no fertilization (CK), farmer pattern (NP), optimized fertilizers pattern (NPK), optimized fertilizers + organic fertilizers pattern (NPKM), and optimized fertilizers + biological organic fertilizers pattern (NPKB). The results showed that the application of organic and chemical fertilizer (NPKM and NPKB) improved significantly the SOC content in macroaggregates compared with that in the single fertilizer treatment (NP and NPK), which had a greater increase in SOC content in macroaggregates than that of the soil. All fertilization treatments had a tendency to increase the content of fractions iPOC, fPOC, and iPOC in macroaggregates, but silt and clay carbon (s+c_f and s+c_m) contents were decreased. The application of manure combined with chemicals markedly increased the allocations of fractions cPOC, fPOC, and iPOC reserves, but it greatly decreased (s+c_f) reserves allocation. However, the application of chemical fertilizers only significantly increased the proportion of cPOC reserves in macroaggregates. Correlation analysis showed that there were significant positive correlations among wheat grain yield and OC fractions (cPOC and fPOC) contents, SOC content, the OC content of >0.25 mm macroaggregates, and SOC input, and the correlation coefficient was 0.645-0.883. In conclusion, long-term fertilization, especially combined with organic fertilizer, could promote the free silt and clay carbon fraction (s+c_f) to transfer into other forms of OC components through the increase in soil carbon input in the wheat field of the loess plateau. Furthermore, the OC content of macroaggregates was increased overall, providing a good soil environment for crop yield.

RESUMO

Background: Earlier observational studies have demonstrated a correlation between glioma and the risk of neurodegenerative diseases (NDs), but the causality and direction of their associations remain unclear. The objective of this study was to ascertain the causal link between glioma and NDs using Mendelian randomization (MR) methodology. Methods: Genome-wide association study (GWAS) data were used in a two-sample bi-directional MR analysis. From the largest meta-analysis GWAS, encompassing 18,169 controls and 12,488 cases, summary statistics data on gliomas was extracted. Summarized statistics for NDs, including Alzheimer's disease (AD), multiple sclerosis (MS), amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) and Parkinson's disease (PD) were obtained from the GWAS of European ancestry. Inverse variance weighted (IVW) method was elected as the core MR approach with weighted median (WM) method and MR-Egger method as complementary methods. In addition, sensitivity analyses were performed. A Bonferroni correction was used to correct the results. Results: Genetically predicted glioma had been related to decreased risk of AD. Specifically, for all glioma (IVW: OR = 0.93, 95% CI = 0.90-0.96, p = 4.88 × 10-6) and glioblastoma (GBM) (IVW: OR = 0.93, 95% CI = 0.91-0.95, p = 5.11 × 10-9). We also found that genetically predicted all glioma has a suggestive causative association with MS (IVW: OR = 0.90, 95% CI = 0.81-1.00, p = 0.045). There was no evidence of causal association between glioma and ALS or PD. According to the results of reverse MR analysis, no discernible causal connection of NDs was found on glioma. Sensitivity analyses validated the robustness of the above associations. Conclusion: We report evidence in support of potential causal associations of different glioma subtypes with AD and MS. More studies are required to uncover the underlying mechanisms of these findings.

RESUMO

Background and objective: To investigate the use of high-resolution magnetic resonance imaging (HR-MRI) to identify the characteristics of culprit plaques in intracranial arteries, and to evaluate the predictive value of the characteristics of culprit plaques combined with the modified Essen score for the recurrence risk of high-risk non-disabling ischemic cerebrovascular events (HR-NICE) patients. Methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted on 180 patients with HR-NICE at the First Affiliated Hospital of Xinxiang Medical University, including 128 patients with no recurrence (non-recurrence group) and 52 patients with recurrence (recurrence group). A total of 65 patients with HR-NICE were collected from the Sixth Affiliated Hospital of Shanghai Jiaotong University as a validation group, and their modified Essen scores, high-resolution magnetic resonance vessel wall images, and clinical data were collected. The culprit plaques were analyzed using VesselExplorer2 software. Univariate and multivariate logistic regression analyses were used to identify independent risk factors for recurrence, and a nomogram was constructed using R software to evaluate the discrimination of the model. The area under the curve (AUC) of the receiver operating characteristic curve (ROC) was used to evaluate the model performance. Calibration curves and Decision Curve Analysis (DCA) were used to evaluate the model efficacy. Results: Intra-plaque hemorrhage (OR = 3.592, 95% CI = 1.474-9.104, p = 0.006), homocysteine (OR = 1.098, 95% CI = 1.025-1.179, p = 0.007), and normalized wall index (OR = 1.114, 95% CI = 1.027-1.222, p = 0.015) were significantly higher in the recurrent stroke group than in the non-recurrent stroke group, and were independent risk factors for recurrent stroke. The performance of the nomogram model (AUC = 0.830, 95% CI: 0.769-0.891; PR-AUC = 0.628) was better than that of the modified Essen scoring model (AUC = 0.660, 95% CI: 0.583-0.738) and the independent risk factor combination model (AUC = 0.827, 95% CI: 0.765-0.889). The nomogram model still had good model performance in the validation group (AUC = 0.785, 95% CI: 0.671-0.899), with a well-fitting calibration curve and a DCA curve indicating good net benefit efficacy for patients. Conclusion: High-resolution vessel wall imaging combined with a modified Essen score can effectively assess the recurrence risk of HR-NICE patients, and the nomogram model can provide a reference for identifying high-risk populations with good clinical application prospects.

RESUMO

Background and Objective: Nevus of Ota (NO), also known as "brownish-blue nevus of the palate of the eye", is a benign dermal pigmentation that increases skin disease. The Q-switched ruby laser is a classic treatment for nevus of Ota in children, but the optimal age for treatment is still controversial. The aim of this study was to investigate the treatment effect of Q-switched ruby laser in children with nevus of Ota at different ages and the effect on psychological health status. Materials and Methods: Children with nevus of Ota treated with Q-switched ruby laser in the Department of Dermatology of the Second Affiliated Hospital of Wenzhou Medical University from June 2015 to June 2019 were retrospectively analysed. And the mental health status was assessed using the CDI scale. Results: In the preschool children group (0-7 year age), the significant efficacy rates was 93.1%, the average number of treatments was 3.6, and the overall incidence of adverse reactions was 4.7%. The significant efficacy rates in the school-age children group (7-14 year age) was 90.3%, the average number of treatments was 5.1, and the overall incidence of adverse reactions was 13.7%. The mean post-treatment CDI score in the preschool children group was 10.8, and 9.7% of children exceeding 19 points. The mean pre-treatment CDI score in the school-age children group was 17.3, and 24.6% of children exceeding 19 points. The mean post-treatment CDI score was 13.6 and 15.1% of children exceeded 19 points. The chi-square test for the significant efficacy rate of the two groups showed P>0.05, which was not statistically significant. The significant efficacy rate of the preschool group and that of the school-age children group. The t-test for the number of treatments in the two groups showed P<0.05, which was statistically significant. Adverse reactions in the two groups showed a statistically significant P<0.05. The mean CDI scores and the percentage of depressed individuals in the school-age children group were significantly lower after treatment than before treatment (p<0.05). Conclusion: Q-switched ruby laser is safe and effective in treating nevus of Ota in children. Early treatment can reduce the number of treatments and the incidence of adverse reactions. In addition, early treatment can reduce children's depression, which is beneficial to mental health.

RESUMO

Cardiac arrest is a global health issue causing more deaths than many other diseases. Hypothermia therapy is commonly used to treat secondary brain injury resulting from cardiac arrest. Previous studies have shown that CIRP is induced in specific brain regions during hypothermia and inhibits mitochondrial apoptotic factors. However, the specific mechanisms by which hypothermia-induced CIRP exerts its anti-apoptotic effect are still unknown. This study aims to investigate the role of Cold-inducible RNA-binding protein (CIRP) in mitochondrial-associated endoplasmic reticulum membrane (MAM)-mediated Ca2+ transport during hypothermic brain resuscitation. We constructed a rat model of cardiac arrest and resuscitation and hippocampal neuron oxygen-glucose deprivation/reoxygenation model. We utilized shRNA transfection to interfere the expression of CIRP and observe the effect of CIRP on the structure and function of MAM.Hypothermia induced CIRP can reduce the apoptosis of hippocampal neurons, and improve the survival rate of rats. Hypothermia induced CIRP can reduce the expressions of calcium transporters IP3R and VDAC1 in MAM, reduce the concentration of calcium in mitochondria, decrease the expression of ROS, and stabilize the mitochondrial membrane potential. Immunofluorescence and immunocoprecipitation showed that CIRP could directly interact with IP3R-VDAC1 complex, thereby changing the structure of MAM, inhibiting calcium transportation and improving mitochondrial function in vivo and vitro. Both in vivo and in vitro experiments have confirmed that hypothermia induced CIRP can act on the calcium channel IP3R-VDAC1 in MAM, reduce the calcium overload in mitochondria, improve the energy metabolism of mitochondria, and thus play a role in neuron resuscitation. This study contributes to understanding hypothermia therapy and identifies potential targets for brain injury treatment.

RESUMO

RATIONALE AND OBJECTIVES: Secondary vertebral compression fractures (SVCF) are very common in patients after vertebral augmentation (VA). The aim of this study was to establish a radiomic-based model to predict SVCF and specify appropriate treatment strategies. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Patients diagnosed with osteoporotic vertebral compression fracture (OVCF) and undergoing VA surgery at our center between 2017 and 2021 were subject to a retrospective analysis. Radiological features of the T6-L5 vertebrae were derived from CT images. Clustering analysis, t-test, and LASSO (least absolute shrinkage and selection operator) regression were used to identify the optimization characteristics. A radiological signature model was constructed through the best combination of 13 machine learning algorithms. Radiomics signature was integrated with clinical characteristics into a nomogram for clinical applications. The model reliability was assessed by receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve, calibration curve, clinical decision analysis (DCA), log-rank test, and confusion matrix. RESULTS: A total of 470 eligible patients (81 with SVCF and 389 without) were identified in the clinical cohort. Eight radiomics features were identified and incorporated into machine learning, and "XGBoost" model showed the best performance. Final logistic nomogram included radiomics signature (P < 0.001), bone cement volume (P = 0.034), and T-scores of L1-L4 (P = 0.001), and showed satisfactory prediction capability in training set (0.986, 95%CI 0.969-1.000) and verification set (0.884, 95%CI 0.823-0.946). CONCLUSION: Our radiomics-clinical model based on machine learning showed potential to prospectively predict SVCF after VA and provide precise treatment strategies.

RESUMO

A fusion between tubulin polymerization-promoting protein (TPPP), a regulatory cytoskeletal gene, and the chromatin remodeling factor, bromodomain-containing protein 9 (BRD9), TPPP-BRD9 fusion has been found in rare cancer cases, including lung and gallbladder cancers (GBC). In this study, we investigated the histopathological features of 16 GBCs previously shown by RNA sequencing to harbor the TPPP-BRD9 fusion. Findings in the fusion-positive GBCs were compared with 645 GBC cases from the authors' database. Among the 16 TPPP-BRD9 fusion-positive GBC cases, most were females (F:M = 7:1) of Chinese ethnicity (12/16), whereas the remaining cases were from Chile. The histopathological examination showed the following findings: 1) Intracholecystic neoplasm (ICN) in 7/15 (47% vs. 7% 645 reference GBCs, p < 0.001), all with gastro-pancreatobiliary phenotype, often with clear cell change, and in the background of pyloric gland metaplasia and extensive high-grade dysplasia. 2) Neuroendocrine carcinoma (NEC) morphology: 3 cases (27% vs. 4.6% in the reference database, p = 0.001) showed a sheet-like and nested/trabecular growth pattern of monotonous cells with salt-and-pepper chromatin characteristic of NECs. Two were large cell type, one had prominent clear cell features, a rare finding in GBNECs; the other one had relatively bland, well-differentiated morphology, and the remaining case was small cell type. 3) Adenocarcinoma identified in 8 cases had a distinctive pattern characterized by widely separated small, round tubular units with relatively uniform nuclei in a fashion seen in mesonephric adenocarcinomas, including hobnail-like arrangement and apical snouts, reminiscent of tubular carcinomas of the breast in many areas. In some foci, the epithelium was attenuated, and glands were elongated, some with comma shapes, which along with the mucinous/necrotic intraluminal debris created a "syringoid" appearance. 4) Other occasional patterns included the cribriform, glomeruloid patterns, and metaplastic tubular-spindle cell pattern accompanied by hemorrhage. In conclusion, TPPP-BRD9 fusion-positive GBCs often develop through intracholecystic neoplasms (adenoma-carcinoma sequence) of gastro-pancreatobiliary lineage, appear more prone to form NEC morphology and have a propensity to display clear cell change. Invasive adenocarcinomas arising in this setting often seem to display a distinctive appearance that we tentatively propose as the TPPP-BRD9 fusion-positive pattern of GBC.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Bow Hunter's syndrome (BHS), also known as rotational vertebral artery occlusion (RVAO), is a rare condition characterized by dynamic vertebrobasilar insufficiency due to position-dependent occlusion of the vertebral artery (VA). In the existing literature, most cases of BHS are attributed to osteophytic compression originating from the occipital condyle or within the transverse foramen, often accompanied by anatomical abnormalities of the VA. However, cases presenting solely with VA anomalies in the absence of any cervical vertebral structural abnormality are rare. This case report presents a unique instance of BHS in a 56-year-old male, attributed to the anomalous origin of the right VA and the absence of the left VA, without cervical structural abnormalities. CASE PRESENTATION: The patient exhibited symptoms like episodic dizziness and vertigo, which were exacerbated by rightward head rotation and alleviated upon returning to a neutral position. Diagnostic evaluation, including digital subtraction angiography, revealed that the right VA originated from the right common carotid artery and compression-induced stenosis of the right VA during head rotation. Conservative management, including avoidance of certain head movements and anti-arteriosclerosis medication, led to symptom resolution over a two-year follow-up period. CONCLUSIONS: This report contributes to the understanding of BHS by highlighting a rare vascular anomaly presentation and incorporates a review of 14 similar case reports in the literature describing that an anatomical abnormality of the VA is mainly responsible for the pathology of BHS in the absence of cervical vertebral anomalies, thus emphasizing the need for careful diagnostic and management strategies.

RESUMO

Therapy-induced modulation of the tumor microenvironment (TME) to overcome the immunosuppressive TME is considered to be an opportunity for cancer treatment. However, monitoring of TME modulation during the therapeutic process to accurately determine immune responses and adjust treatment plans in a timely manner remains to be challenging. Herein, we report a carrier-free nanotheranostic system (CANPs) assembled by two boron dipyrromethene (BODIPY) dyes, a sonophotosensitizer C-BDP, and a nitric oxide (NO) probe amino-BODIPY (A-BDP). CANPs can exert combined sonophototherapeutic effects of C-BDP under ultrasound and light irradiation and simultaneously induce inflammatory TME, as well as emit bright fluorescence via A-BDP by monitoring tumor-associated macrophages (TAMs) repolarization through the released NO in vitro and in vivo. Of note, transforming growth factor-ß (TGF-ß) could be the key cytokine involved in the sonophototherapy-induced TME reprogramming. By virtue of high physiological stability, good biocompatibility, and effective tumor targetability, CANPs could be a potential nanotheranostic system for the simultaneous induction and detection of TME reprogramming triggered by sonophototherapy.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: The treatment of postoperative anastomotic stenosis after excision of rectal cancer is challenging. Endoscopic balloon dilation and radial incision are not effective in all patients. We present a new endoscopy-assisted magnetic compression technique (MCT) for the treatment of rectal anastomotic stenosis. We successfully applied this MCT to a patient who developed an anastomotic stricture after radical resection of rectal cancer. CASE SUMMARY: A 50-year-old man had undergone laparoscopic radical rectal cancer surgery at a local hospital 5 months ago. A colonoscopy performed 2 months ago indicated that the rectal anastomosis was narrow due to which ileostomy closure could not be performed. The patient came to the Magnetic Surgery Clinic of the First Affiliated Hospital of Xi'an Jiaotong University after learning that we had successfully treated patients with colorectal stenosis using MCT. We performed endoscopy-assisted magnetic compression surgery for rectal stenosis. The magnets were removed 16 d later. A follow-up colonoscopy performed after 4 months showed good anastomotic patency, following which, ileostomy closure surgery was performed. CONCLUSION: MCT is a simple, non-invasive technique for the treatment of anastomotic stricture after radical resection of rectal cancer. The technique can be widely used in clinical settings.

RESUMO

The relative severity between chromium (Cr)-mediated ecotoxicity and its bioaccumulation has rarely been compared and evaluated. This study employed pot incubation experiments to simulate the soil environment with increased Cr pollution and study their effects on the growth of crops, including pepper, lettuce, wheat, and rice. Results showed that increasing total Cr presented ascendant ecotoxicity in upland soils when pH > 7.5, and significantly reduced the yield of pepper, lettuce and wheat grain by 0.3-100 %, whereas, this effect was weakened even reversed as the pH decreased. Surprisingly, a series of soils with Cr concentration of 22.7-623.5 mg kg-1 did not cause Cr accumulation in four crops over the Chinese permissible limit. The toxicity of Cr was highly associated with extractable Cr, where Cr (VI) made the greater contributions than Cr (III). Conclusively, the ecotoxicity of Cr poses a greater environmental issue as compared to the bioaccumulation of Cr in crops in upland soils, while extractable Cr (VI) makes the predominant contributions to the ecotoxicity of Cr as the total Cr increased. Our study proposes a synchronous consideration involving total Cr and Cr (VI) as the theoretical basis to establish a more reliable soil quality standard for safe production in China.

RESUMO

Purpose: Pain is a common yet undertreated symptom of Parkinson's disease (PD). This study investigated the effect of Gua Sha therapy on pain in patients with PD. Patients and Methods: A total of 56 PD patients with pain were randomized into either the experimental group (n=28), receiving 12 sessions of Gua Sha therapy, or the control group (n=28) without additional treatment. Participants underwent assessment at baseline, after the twelfth invention, and at the 2-month follow-up timepoints. The primary outcome was KPPS and VAS. Secondary outcomes included UPDRS I-III, PDSS-2, HADS, PDQ-39, and blood biomarkers (5-HT, IL-8, IL-10). Results: The experimental group reported a significant improvement in pain severity, motor functions, affective disorder, and sleep quality (P < 0.05). Furthermore, increasing trends in both 5-HT and IL-10, as well as decreasing trends in IL-8 were observed. No serious adverse events occurred. Conclusion: The preliminary findings suggest that Gua Sha therapy may be effective and safe for alleviating pain and improving other disease-related symptoms in PD patients.

RESUMO

Compact and user-friendly nucleic acid biosensors play a crucial role in advancing infectious disease research, particularly for coronavirus (COVID-19). While nanophotonic metasurface sensors hold promise for high-performance sensing, they face challenges due to their complexity and bulky readout instruments. In this study, we propose a gradient nanoplasmonic imaging (GNI) metasurface that incorporates the concept of an optical potential well, enabling label-free single-step detection of SARS-CoV-2 sequences. The metasurface sensor consists of nanopillars with continuous variations, forming an optical potential well that results in a centimeter-scale dark ring. This dynamic well exhibits high sensitivity to refractive index changes, recorded by a CCD. To further enhance the visualized sensing performance, plasmonic coupling of gold nanoparticles with the gold nanostructure is employed. Our metasurface-based biosensor achieves rapid single-step detection of SARS-CoV-2 sequences, with a low detection limit of 77.2 pM and a detection range of 0.1-100 nM. This biosensor not only demonstrates exceptional reproducibility and outstanding detection performance, but also maintains remarkable specificity in differentiating SARS-CoV-2 from other diseases with similar symptoms. This simple and spectrometer-free refractometric sensing scheme enables the construction of a compact and cost-efficient prototype. Our imaging-based metasurface biosensing strategy demonstrates valuable merits for rapid, sensitive, and quantitative detection, showcasing its potential as a valuable on-site nucleic acid diagnostic tool.

RESUMO

The origin and spread of agriculture facilitated a decline in human mobility and eventually led to a predominantly sedentary lifestyle globally, including on the Tibetan Plateau. Previous studies have proposed an evolution of prehistoric agriculture, from millet-based to barley-based farming. However, details regarding the process are vague. Here, we present diachronic changes in cropping structure from Xizang on the basis of a quantitative analysis of archaeobotanical remains from 12 sites located in southeastern Xizang. The advent of agriculture in Xizang began in the southeastern region around 4800 cal a BP and resulted in a quick spread of millet agriculture from the Hengduan Mountains to the Yarlung Zangbo River region. Subsequently, the introduction of barley and wheat in Xizang led to the transformation of millet-based farming into mixed farming after 3600 cal a BP. Eventually, around 3000 cal a BP, barley and wheat dominated across the entire Xizang with declining occurrences of millet. It took more than 600 years for barley and wheat to dominate in the Tibetan cropping system, which may reflect the time required for these exotic species to adapt physiologically to their new niche. In addition to the diachronic changes in crop farming, the ratio of barley to wheat and foxtail millet to broomcorn millet also varied at different elevations possibly due to local environmental variations and the crops' physiological requirements.

RESUMO

Background: Severe fever with thrombocytopenia syndrome (SFTS) is spreading rapidly in Asia. The pathway of SFTS virus shedding from patient and specific use of personal protective equipments (PPEs) against viral transmission have rarely been reported. The study was to determine SFTS virus (SFTSV) shedding pattern from the respiratory, digestive and urinary tract to outside in patients. Methods: Patients were divided into mild and severe groups in three sentinel hospitals for SFTS in Anhui province from April 2020 to October 2022. SFTSV level from blood, throat swabs, fecal/anal swabs, urine and bedside environment swabs of SFTS patients were detected by qRT-PCR. Specific PPEs were applied in healthcare workers contacting with the patients who had oropharyngeal virus shedding and hemorrhagic signs. Results: A total of 189 SFTSV-confirmed patients were included in the study, 54 patients died (case fatality rate, 28.57 %). Positive SFTSV in throat swabs (T-SFTSV), fecal/anal swabs (F-SFTSV) and urine (U-SFTSV) were detected in 121 (64.02 %), 91 (48.15 %) and 65 (34.4 %) severely ill patients, respectively. The levels of T-SFTSV, F-SFTSV and U-SFTSV were positively correlated with the load of SFTSV in blood. We firstly revealed that SFTSV positive rate of throat swabs were correlated with occurrence of pneumonia and case fatality rate of patients (P < 0.0001). Specific precaution measures were applied by healthcare workers in participating cardiopulmonary resuscitation and orotracheal intubation for severely ill patients with positive T-SFTSV, no event of SFTSV human-to-human transmission occurred after application of effective PPEs. Conclusions: Our research demonstrated SFTSV could shed out from blood, oropharynx, feces and urine in severely ill patients. The excretion of SFTSV from these parts was positively correlated with viral load in the blood. Effective prevention measures against SFTSV human-to-human transmission are needed.

RESUMO

In the age of digitization, digital transformation has emerged as a crucial pathway for companies to achieve sustainable development. In a sample of 24,103 firm-year observations from 3,508 listed companies in China's A-share market between 2007 and 2020, we investigate the relationship between corporate digital transformation and financing constraints based on dynamic capability theory. The proportion of intangible assets dedicated to digital technology is employed as a measure of the degree of digital transformation, and the SA index is utilized to assess the level of financing constraints. The findings demonstrate that digital transformation plays a significant role in alleviating financing constraints. In addition, greater institutional ownership leads to a pronounced negative correlation between digital transformation and financing constraints. From the perspective of dynamic capability theory, this study provides empirical evidence supporting research on economic consequences associated with digital transformation. Our results may contribute towards government formulation and implementation of policies promoting digital transformation to create a supportive external environment for businesses. Companies must seize opportunities associated with digital transformation to mitigate financing constraints.

RESUMO

The present study aimed to compare the differences between 3D-printed porous titanium and polyether ether ketone (PEEK) interbody fusion cages for anterior cervical discectomy and fusion (ACDF). Literature on the application of 3D-printed porous titanium and PEEK interbody fusion cages for ACDF was searched in the PubMed, Web of Science, Embase, China National Knowledge Infrastructure, Wanfang and VIP databases. A total of 1,181 articles were retrieved and 12 were finally included. The Cochrane bias risk assessment criteria and Newcastle-Ottawa scale were used for quality evaluation and Review Manager 5.4 was used for data analysis. The 3D cage group was superior to the PEEK cage group in terms of operative time [mean difference (MD): -7.68; 95% confidence interval (CI): -11.08, -4.29; P<0.00001], intraoperative blood loss (MD: -6.17; 95%CI: -10.56, -1.78; P=0.006), hospitalization time (MD: -0.57; 95%CI: -0.86, -0.28: P=0.0001), postoperative complications [odds ratio (OR): 0.35; 95%CI: 0.15, 0.80; P=0.01], C2-7 Cobb angle (MD: 2.85; 95%CI: 1.45, 4.24; P<0.0001), intervertebral space height (MD: 1.20; 95%CI: 0.54, 1.87; P=0.0004), Japanese Orthopaedic Association Assessment of Treatment (MD: 0.69; 95%CI: 0.24, 1.15; P=0.003) and visual analogue scale score (MD: -0.43; 95%CI: -0.78, -0.07; P=0.02). The difference was statistically significant, while there was no significant difference between the two groups in terms of fusion rate (OR: 1.74; 95%CI: 0.71, 4.27; P=0.23). The use of 3D-printed porous titanium interbody fusion cage in ACDF has the advantages of short operation time, less bleeding loss, shorter hospitalization time and fewer postoperative complications. It can better maintain the cervical curvature and intervertebral height, relieve pain and accelerate postoperative functional recovery.

RESUMO

Glacial changes are crucial to regional water resources and ecosystems in the Sawir Mountains. However, glacial changes, including the mass balance and glacial meltwater of the Sawir Mountains, have sparsely been reported. Three model calibration strategies were constructed including a regression model based on albedo and in-situ mass balance of Muz Taw Glacier (A-Ms), regression model based on albedo and geodetic mass balance of valley, cirque, and hanging glaciers (A-Mr), and degree-day model (DDM) to obtain a reliable glacier mass balance in the Sawir Mountains and provide the latest understanding in the contribution of glacial meltwater runoff to regional water resources. The results indicated that the glacial albedo reduction was significant from 2000 to 2020 for the entire Sawir Mountains, with a rate of 0.015 (10a)-1, and the spatial pattern was higher in the east compared to the west. Second, the three strategies all indicated that the glacier mass balance has been continuously negative during the past 20 periods, and the average annual glacier mass balance was -1.01 m w.e. Third, the average annual glacial meltwater runoff in the Sawir Mountains from 2000 to 2020 was 22 × 106 m3, and its contribution to streamflow was 25.81 % from 2000 to 2018. The glacier contribution rates in the Ulkun- Ulastu, Lhaster, and Kendall River basins were 31.37 %, 22.51 %, and 19.27 %, respectively.
