INTRODUCTION: The aim of our study was to compare 3 diagnostic pathways: diastolic stress echocardiography (DSE) based on the ASE/EACVI 2016 guidelines, the 2018 H2FPEF score, and the 2019 HFA-PEFF algorithm, in patients suspected of heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF). MATERIAL AND METHODS: The study group included 80 consecutive patients with a clinical suspicion of HFpEF. The H2FPEF and HFA-PEFF scores and serum NT-proBNP concentrations were assessed in all the patients before they were sent for DSE. RESULTS: The DSE-based pathway confirmed HFpEF in 17 (21%) patients, the HFA-PEFF algorithm in 43 (54%), and H2FPEF scoring in 4 (5%) patients. The ROC analysis showed that HFA-PEFF score > 5 predicts a DSE-positive test with a sensitivity of 70.5% and a specificity of 65%, (AUC = 0.711, p = 0.002) with a negative predictive value of 89.1% and positive predictive value of 35.3%. The H2FPEF score > 3 had a negative predictive value of 90%, a positive predictive value of 29.8%, and predicted positive DSE result with a sensitivity of 82.3% but rather poor specificity of 47.6% (AUC = 0.692, p = 0.004). Both H2FPEF and HFA-PEFF showed similar predictive values (AUC) in the prediction of positive DSE test (p = ns). CONCLUSIONS: The HFA-PEFF score overestimated the rate of HFpEF in comparison to DSE and the H2FPEF score. The H2FPEF and HFA-PEFF scores showed only modest predictive values of the positive DSE and had a diagnostic power to rule out the HFpEF.

Introduction: Transthoracic echocardiography (TTE) and cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) are the most important modalities used in clinical practice to assess cardiac chambers. However, different imaging techniques may affect their results and conclusions. The aim of our study was to compare left-ventricle (LV) remodeling assessed using TTE and CMR in the context of various cardiovascular diseases. Methods: A total of 202 consecutive patients sent for an elective cardiovascular diagnosis were scheduled for a 2D TTE and CMR, performed within 2 weeks. The study group was divided and analyzed based on the clinical indications for CMR, including coronary artery disease, heart failure, native aortic valve regurgitation or paravalvular leak after aortic valve replacement, or cardiomyopathies. Results: The mean LV mass index (LVMi) values calculated using TTE were significantly larger (127.1 ± 44.5 g/m²) compared to the LVMi assessed using CMR (77.1 ± 26.2 g/m²; p < 0.001). The LV end-diastolic volumes assessed using TTE were underestimated for all the study patients (78.6 ± 43 mL vs. 100.5 ± 39 mL; p < 0.0001) and subgroups, but a statistical trend was observed in patients with cardiomyopathy. Those differences in single parameters led to differences in LV remodeling and the final treatment decision. CMR and TTE provided similar conclusions on LV systolic dysfunction in 68% of the patients. Conclusions: Our results showed that the greater the degree of LV remodeling and dysfunction, the greater the difference between the modalities. Therefore, CMR should be introduced into routine clinical practice, especially for patients undergoing LV remodeling, which may change clinical decisions in a considerable number of cases.

The aim of the study was to assess the occurrence of classic risk factors in the study group of patients with heart failure and to link them with the transcriptional activity of the examined genes: metalloproteinase 9 (MMP-9) and the tissue inhibitor of metalloproteinases 1 (TIMP-1). A total of 150 (100%) patients qualified for the study, including 80 (53.33%) patients with heart failure in the course of coronary artery disease, 40 (26.67%) with coronary artery disease without heart failure, and 30 (20.00%) in whom the presence of atherosclerotic changes in the coronary arteries was excluded. The material for molecular tests was peripheral blood collected from patients within the first 24 h of hospitalisation. A quantitative analysis of transcriptional activity was performed using the RT-qPCR technique. The most common classic risk factors among the patients in the study group were arterial hypertension (117; 78.00%) and overweight/obesity (102; 68%). In the group of patients with coronary artery disease and heart failure burdened with overweight/obesity, a significantly higher transcriptional activity of the metalloproteinase 9 (MMP-9) gene was found in comparison to patients who were not burdened with this risk factor. The analysis also showed the statistically significant higher transcriptional activity of the metalloproteinase 9 (MMP-9) gene in a group of patients with coronary artery disease and heart failure who smoked. The examined patients with heart failure due to myocardial ischemia were burdened with numerous cardiovascular risk factors, the most common of which were arterial hypertension, obesity/overweight, and hypercholesterolemia. A significant increase in the transcriptional activity of the metalloproteinase 9 (MMP-9) gene in the presence of risk factors (male sex, overweight/obesity, smoking) indicates another pathomechanism of their action and participation in the development and progression of heart failure during myocardial ischemia. There is a need for systematic information and educational activities promoting a healthy lifestyle with the elimination of modifiable risk factors for cardiovascular diseases.

BACKGROUND: Transvenous temporary cardiac pacing (TTCP) is a lifesaving procedure, but the incidence of complications and prognosis depends on the underlying cause. The aim of this study was to compare the characteristics, complications, and prognosis in patients with myocardial infarction (MI) requiring TTCP vs. patients with TTCP due to other causes. METHODS: The present analysis involved 244 cases in whom TTCP was performed between 2017 and 2021 in a high-volume cathlab. All the procedures were performed by an interventional cardiologist. MI constituted 46.3% of the patients (n = 113), including 63 ST-segment elevation MI patients (55.75%). Non-MI patients (control group) consisted of patients with any cause of bradycardia requiring TTCP. RESULTS: Myocardial infarction patients requiring TTCP are younger and have a higher prevalence of hypertension and heart failure. The pacing lead is more frequently inserted during asystole/resuscitation, and pacing was needed for a longer time. MI patients required cardiac implantable electronic device implantation less frequently than in other causes (22% vs. 82%, p < 0.01). The incidence of TTCP complications did not differ. The incidence of in-hospital death was 6.5-fold higher in TTCP patients with MI. Logistic regression showed MI to be a strong predictor of in-hospital death (odds ratio: 8.1; 95% confidence interval: 1.3-57.9). CONCLUSIONS: In-hospital mortality in MI patients requiring TTCP is 6.5-fold higher than in other patients with bradycardia. The complication rate of TTCP is similar in MI and non-MI patients. It is not TTCP but the severity of MI itself and the fact that a pacing lead is frequently implanted in asystole or during resuscitation that is responsible for the higher mortality rate.

BACKGROUND: Recent studies revealed that alterations in glucose and lipid metabolism in idiopathic pulmonary arterial hypertension (IPAH) are associated with disease severity and poor survival. However, data regarding the impact of diabetes mellitus (DM) on the prognosis of patients with IPAH remain scarce. The aim of our study was to determine that impact using data from a national multicentre prospective pulmonary hypertension registry. METHODS: We analysed data of adult patients with IPAH from the Database of Pulmonary Hypertension in the Polish population (BNP­PL) between March 1, 2018 and August 31, 2020. Upon admission, clinical, echocardiographic, and haemodynamic data were collected at 21 Polish IPAH reference centres. The all-cause mortality was assessed during a 30-month follow-up period. To adjust for differences in age, body mass index (BMI), and comorbidities between patients with and without DM, a 2-group propensity score matching was performed using a 1:1 pairing algorithm. RESULTS: A total of 532 patients with IPAH were included in the study and 25.6% were diagnosed with DM. Further matched analysis was performed in 136 patients with DM and 136 without DM. DM was associated with older age, higher BMI, more advanced exertional dyspnea, increased levels of N-terminal pro-brain natriuretic peptide, larger right atrial area, increased mean right atrial pressure, mean pulmonary artery pressure, pulmonary vascular resistance, and all-cause mortality compared with no DM. CONCLUSIONS: Patients with IPAH and DM present with more advanced pulmonary vascular disease and worse survival than counterparts without DM independently of age, BMI, and cardiovascular comorbidities.

Introduction: Cardiovascular disease is still a leading cause of death in Poland and across Europe. The aim of this study was to assess the attainment of the main treatment goals for secondary cardiovascular prevention in coronary patients with or without diabetes mellitus (DM) in Poland. Material and methods: The study group included 1026 patients (65.5 ±9 y.o.; males: 72%) included at least 6 months after the index hospitalisation for myocardial infarction, unstable angina, elective percutaneous coronary intervention or coronary artery bypass surgery. The target and treatment goals were defined according to the 2016 European Society of Cardiology guidelines on cardiovascular prevention. Results: Patients with DM (n = 332; 32%) were slightly older compared to non-diabetic (n = 694) individuals (67.2 ±7 vs. 64.6 ±9 years old; p < 0.0001). The DM goal was achieved in 196 patients (60%). The rate of primary (LDL: 51% vs. 35%; p < 0.0001) and secondary (non-HDL: 56% vs. 48%; p < 0.02) goal attainment was higher in DM(+) compared to DM(-) patients. The rate of target blood pressure was lower in DM(+) than in normoglycemic patients (52% vs. 61% at < 140/90 mm Hg, p < 0.01. As expected, goal achievement of normal weight (9.5% vs. 19%; p < 0.0001) and waist circumference (7% vs. 15%; p < 0.001) was lower in diabetic patients and the rate of regular physical activity was similar (DM+ 12% vs. DM- 14%; p = ns). Finally, there was no difference in active smokers (DM+ 23% vs. DM- 22%; p = ns). Conclusions: Great majority of Polish patients in secondary prevention do not achieve treatment goals. Although lipid goals attainment is better in DM and the rate of smokers is similar, the management of all risk factors needs to be improved.

BACKGROUND: Patients after acute myocardial infarction (AMI) are at very high cardiovascular (CV) risk. Therefore, appropriate management of dyslipidemia with adequate lipid-lowering therapy is crucial for preventing subsequent CV events in these patients. AIMS: Our analysis aimed to assess the treatment of dyslipidemia and attainment of low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) treatment goals in patients after AMI who participated in the Managed Care for Acute Myocardial Infarction Survivors (MACAMIS) program. METHODS: This study is a retrospective analysis of consecutive patients with AMI who agreed to participate and completed the 12-month MACAMIS program at one of three tertiary referral cardiovascular centers in Poland between October 2017 and January 2021. RESULTS: 1499 patients after AMI were enrolled in the study. High-intensity statin therapy was prescribed for 85.5% of analyzed patients on hospital discharge. Combined therapy with high-intensity statin and ezetimibe increased from 2.1% on hospital discharge to 18.2% after 12 months. In the whole study cohort, 20.4% of patients achieved the LDL-C target of < 55 mg/dl ( < 1.4 mmol/l), and 26.9% of patients achieved at least a 50% reduction in LDL-C level one year after AMI. CONCLUSIONS: Our analysis suggests that participation in the managed care program might be associated with improved quality of dyslipidemia management in AMI patients. Nonetheless, only one-fifth of patients who completed the program achieved the treatment goal for LDL-C. This highlights the constant need for optimizing lipid-lowering therapy to meet treatment targets and reduce CV risk in patients after AMI.

BACKGROUND: Managed Care in Acute Myocardial Infarction (MC-AMI) is a program introduced in Poland aimed at comprehensive, scheduled, and supervised care for AMI patients to improve longterm prognosis. AIMS: Our study aimed to compare 24-month mortality and the incidence of major cardiovascular events (MACE: a composite of death, recurrent MI, and hospitalization for heart failure) in a cohort of AMI patients treated in the MC-AMI era (intention-to-treat analysis) vs. similar population treated before the MC-AMI era. METHODS: We analyzed 2323 consecutive patients with AMI: 1261 patients enrolled in the MC-AMI era (study group) and 1062 patients treated 12 months before the MC-AMI era (control group). In the study group, 57% of patients participated in MC-AMI while 43% of patients remained under standard care. The patients were followed up for 24 months. Mortality and MACE were recorded. RESULTS: Treatment in the MC-AMI era was related to a 30% reduction in all-cause mortality and a 14% reduction of MACE although it was not related to the reduction of hospitalization for heart failure (HF) or AMI in 24 months. The 24-month survival rate was the highest in MC-AMI enrolled patients while patients treated in the MC-AMI era but not enrolled had a similar prognosis to those treated before the MC-AMI era. Multivariable Cox regression analysis revealed the MC-AMI era to be inversely associated with mortality in 24-month follow-up (hazard ratio [HR], 0.49; 95% confidence interval [Cl], 0.38-0.65; P <0.001). CONCLUSIONS: AMI treatment in the MC-AMI era reduces 24-month mortality and MACE. Moreover, AMI treatment in MC-AMI is inversely related to mortality, MACE, and hospitalization for HF. The effect is pronounced in patients enrolled in MC-AMI.

BACKGROUND: Despite the progress in research, the utility of clinical assessment for the prediction of stroke is limited. The aim herein, was to evaluate the predictive values of major ultrasound indexes of carotid artery and fat depots for stroke in patients with high and very high cardiovascular (CV) risk. METHODS: The study group included 364 patients (age: 61.3 ± 7.2 years old) with typical CV risk factors scheduled for elective coronary angiography (2012-2013). A comprehensive baseline assessment included the following ultrasound indexes: carotid artery intima-media thickness (IMT), extra-media thickness (EMT), epicardial (EFT) and pericardial fat thickness (PFT), abdominal subcutaneous (ASF) and visceral fat (AVF) and combined periarterial adipose tissue intima-media adventitia (PATIMA) index. Afterwards, all patients were followed for 80.9 ± 7.1 months. RESULTS: There were 23 strokes and 25 cases with new-onset atrial fibrillation during follow-up. Receiver operating characteristics (ROC) analysis showed, that selected clinical parameters (age, waist circumference [WC], waist-hip ratio [WHR]) and ultrasound indexes (EFT: area under curve [AUC] 0.672, p < 0.01 and PATIMA index: AUC 0.658, p < 0.01) were predictive for stroke. However, their predictive values showed no significant differences (p = NS). The baseline body mass index (BMI) was the only parameter, which showed a prediction for new-onset atrial fibrillation (BMI > 33 kg/m2: sensitivity 65%, specificity 76%). CONCLUSIONS: It was found that age, WC and echocardiographic EFT revealed significant predictive values for stroke. Both WC and EFT showed a very high NPV suggesting that they should be implemented into the clinical practice as a tool affirming a very low risk of stroke.

BACKGROUND: Renal denervation is a novel therapeutic option in resistant hypertension (RHT). The anatomy of renal arteries and the presence of additional renal arteries are important determinants of the effect of the procedure. The aim of this study was to assess the anatomy of renal arteries using angio- -computed tomography in patients with RHT, who were qualified for renal denervation. METHODS: We analyzed angio-computed tomography scans of the renal arteries of 72 patients qualified for renal denervation. We divided the study population into two groups: a resistant hypertension group (RHT) and a pseudo-resistant hypertension group (NRHT). The biochemical and endocrine diagnostic procedures were performed to rule out secondary hypertension. We analyzed the morphology, the diameters, and the number of additional renal arteries. RESULTS: In both groups, we found additional renal arteries (ARN). ARN were more frequent in RHT than in patients with non-resistant hypertension (48.4% vs. 24.3%; p < 0.05). They were present more often on the left side (18 left side vs. 7 right side). The ARNs were longer than main renal artery - left side 41.7 ± 12.1 mm vs. 51.1 ± 11.8 mm, right side 49.2 ± 14.5 mm vs. 60 ± ± 8.6 mm, respectively (p < 0.05). The diameters of ARN were similar in both groups. In the group of patients with RHT the number of ARN was significantly higher (p < 0.04). CONCLUSIONS: The ARNs occur more often in patients with RHT. It seems that there is no connection between the resistance of hypertension and the diameters of renal arteries.

BACKGROUND: Protective vaccinations are one of the basic means of infectious disease prevention. The aim of the study was to assess the implementation of compulsory and additional protective vaccinations among adult Poles, their knowledge about the purpose of introducing a vaccination schedule and adverse events following immunization. Opinions about and support for anti-vaccination movements were also examined. MATERIALS AND METHODS: A total of 700 (100%) people aged 18 to 80 (x̅ = 32,16 ± 16,46) took part in the study, conducted using the proprietary questionnaire. All the participants selected randomly from patients of the Department of Cardiology, their visitors, doctors, nurses, paramedics, medical students, and authors' acquaintances gave their informed consent to participate in the study. RESULTS: About 10% of the respondents did not complete the compulsory vaccination schedule. Almost 80% of respondents believed that the main reason for vaccinations schedule occurrence was the desire to completely exclude certain diseases and their complications from the population. More than half of the respondents have never had any additional vaccination. A statistically significant correlation was found between intake of at least one additional vaccination and age (χ2=22.262, p = 0.002) and education level (χ2= 11.074, p = 0.004). Among the respondents, there was a group that classified autism as one of the adverse events following immunization. About 95% of respondents never experienced any adverse events following immunizationand as many as 30 respondents declared their support for anti-vaccination movements. CONCLUSION: The degree of the implementation of compulsory protective vaccinations in the study group was high, while additional vaccinations were insufficient. The purposefulness of introducing a vaccination schedule was correctly identified by the majority of the respondents, but the knowledge about adverse events following immunisation and their types was incomplete. Among participants were individuals who declared their support for anti-vaccination movements, so society should be constantly educated about vaccinations benefits.

INTRODUCTION: Adiposity has a few phenotypes associated with various levels of risk for diabetes mellitus (DM), but their exact predictive value is not well understood. OBJECTIVES: We aimed to assess the predictive value of anthropometric parameters, vascular ultrasound indexes, and fat depots for long­term cardiometabolic risk. PATIENTS AND METHODS: A total of 150 patients with chronic coronary syndrome (CCS) scheduled for elective coronary angiography were enrolled and a comprehensive clinical and ultrasound assessment of adiposity was performed (2012-2013). Of them, 143 individuals were followed for 8 years for insulin resistance (IR) and / or DM development. RESULTS: At baseline, DM and prediabetes were found in 22% and 8% of the patients, respectively. It was established that 11.7% of the participants died during the follow­up. The rate of DM increased to 46% with a decrease in the prediabetes rate (3.5%). Significant correlations with the Homeostatic Model Assessment of Insulin Resistance and glycated hemoglobin were observed for major anthropometric and ultrasound variables. In the multivariable analysis, independent predictors of IR were preperitoneal fat thickness (PreFT) (per 10mm increase: odds ratio [OR], 1.63; 95% CI, 1.22-2.33; P = 0.003) and body surface area (per 0.1m2 increase: OR, 1.59; 95% CI, 1.11-2.39; P = 0.02). DM was independently predicted by the high­density lipoprotein cholesterol concentration (OR, 0.93; 95% CI, 0.87-0.97; P = 0.005) and body fat mass (OR, 1.09; 95% CI, 1.03-1.17; P = 0.003). CONCLUSIONS: A complex assessment of the adipose tissue in patients with CCS is a valuable method for improving metabolic risk stratification. Some anthropometric and ultrasound parameters, such as PreFT or body surface area, were associated with IR and DM development.

We aimed to evaluate the clinical course and impact of the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic on the rate of diagnosis and therapy in the complete Polish population of patients (pts) with pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH-1134) and CTEPH (570 pts) treated within the National Health Fund program and reported in the national BNP-PL database. Updated records of 1704 BNP-PL pts collected between March and December 2020 were analyzed with regard to incidence, clinical course and mortality associated with COVID-19. Clinical characteristics of the infected pts and COVID-19 decedents were analyzed. The rates of new diagnoses and treatment intensification in this period were studied and collated to the proper intervals of the previous year. The incidence of COVID-19 was 3.8% (n = 65) (PAH, 4.1%; CTEPH, 3.2%). COVID-19-related mortality was 28% (18/65 pts). Those who died were substantially older and had a more advanced functional WHO class and more cardiovascular comorbidities (comorbidity score, 4.0 ± 2.1 vs. 2.7 ± 1.8; p = 0.01). During the pandemic, annualized new diagnoses of PH diminished by 25-30% as compared to 2019. A relevant increase in total mortality was also observed among the PH pts (9.7% vs. 5.9% pre-pandemic, p = 0.006), whereas escalation of specific PAH/CTEPH therapies occurred less frequently (14.7% vs. 21.6% pre-pandemic). The COVID-19 pandemic has affected the diagnosis and treatment of PH by decreasing the number of new diagnoses, escalating therapy and enhancing overall mortality. A patient's compliance to a physician's lifestyle information is essential in chronic coronary syndrome (CCS) patients. We assessed potential characteristics associated with a patient's recollection of physician information and lifestyle changes. This study recruited and interviewed patients (aged ≤ 80 years) 6-18 months after hospitalization due to acute coronary syndrome or elective myocardial revascularization. A physician's information on risk factors was recognized if patients recollected the assessment of their diet, weight management, blood pressure control, cholesterol level, diabetes, and other lifestyle factors by the doctor. Of a total of 946 chronic coronary syndrome patients, 52.9% (501) of them declared the recollection of providing information on more than 80% of the risk factors. A good recollection of risk factor information was associated with the following: a patient's age (OR per year: 0.97; 95% CI: 0.95 to 0.99), obesity (OR: 4.41; 95% CI: 3.09-6.30), diabetes (OR: 4.16; 95% CI: 2.96-5.84), diuretic therapy (OR: 1.41; 95% CI: 1.03-1.91), calcium channel blockers (OR: 1.47; 95% CI: 1.04-2.09), and ACEI/sartan (OR: 0.65; 95% CI: 0.45-0.94) at hospitalization discharge. In terms of goal attainment, better adherence to antihypertensive drugs (OR: 1.80; 95% CI: 1.07-3.03) was observed in the patients with a good compared to a poor recollection of risk factor information. The recollection of physician risk factor information was significantly associated with more comorbidities. Strategies to tailor the conveying of information to a patient's perception are needed for optimal patient-doctor communication.

Introduction: Angiopoietin-2 (Ang-2) is a novel marker of coronary artery disease (CAD) and diabetes (DM). The aim was to evaluate Ang-2 as a potential new biomarker of non-ST elevation myocardial infarction (NSTEMI) in patients with or without type 2 DM (T2DM). Material and methods: This was a multi-center, prospective study that included 138 (males: 91/66%) consecutive patients hospitalized due to NSTEMI, T2DM, or different cardiac disorders. The subjects were divided into four study groups: group A: 28 patients with NSTEMI and T2DM; group B: 47 patients with NSTEMI without T2DM; group C: 31 patients with T2DM, without a history of CAD; group D: 32 patients as a control group. Patients with NSTEMI underwent urgent coronarography. Clinical characteristics including biomarkers (hs-CRP, hsTnT, NT-proBNP, VEGF, HbA1c), SYNTAX SCORE, type of intervention (PCI vs. CABG), and number of implanted stents were taken into account in the analysis. Results: Serum Ang-2 concentrations were significantly higher in patients with NSTEMI (group A: 1769 pg/ml; group B: 1757 pg/ml) and patients with T2DM (group C: 1993 pg/ml) as compared to the patients without CAD and without T2DM (group D: 866.8 pg/ml; p < 0.05). The prognostic accuracy of Ang-2 in NSTEMI diagnosis was determined with the area under the ROC curve (area under curve (AUC) = 0.63). Conclusions: Angiopoietin-2 serum concentration is elevated in the presence of NSTEMI in patients with and without T2DM and does not correspond to the degree of myocardial injury and hemodynamic status. Ang-2 remains elevated also in patients with T2DM without a history of CAD.

INTRODUCTION: A potentially new marker of cardiovascular diseases - proadrenomedullin is the precursor of adrenomedullin, which is a multifunctional peptide hormone, produced in most of the tissues in response to cellular stress, ischemia, and hypoxia. METHODS: Ninety-three people, aged 51-79 years, were included in the study. Exclusion criteria were severe or corrected valvular disease, acute coronary syndrome, age ≥ 80 years, glomerular filtration rate < 45 ml/min, active infectious diseases, and cancer. The subjects were observed for adverse events, including reduced left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) by ≥ 10%, first incidence of atrial fibrillation (AF), and the necessity of using dopamine during hospitalization. RESULTS: Use of pressure amines, occurrence of the first AF episode, and left ventricular dysfunction defined by a decrease in LVEF by at least 10% compared to the value before surgery were reported in the perioperative period. No death, sudden cardiac arrest with effective resuscitation, non-ST-elevation myocardial infarction, ST-elevation myocardial infarction, or heart failure were observed. Significantly higher proadrenomedullin concentration was observed in the group with reduced postoperative LVEF (1.68 vs. 0.77 nmol/l, P=0.005). The relative risk of a decrease in ejection fraction in the group of patients with proadrenomedullin concentration ≥ 0.77 nmol/l was more than twelve-fold higher (95% confidence interval 1.69-888.33; P=0.013) than in the group of patients with a concentration of proadrenomedullin < 0.77 nmol/l. CONCLUSION: The higher baseline concentration of proadrenomedullin has a predominantly predictive value of postoperative left ventricular systolic dysfunction.
