RESUMO

This study presents the synthesis and characterization of two fluorescent norbornadiene (NBD) photoswitches, each incorporating two conjugated pyrene units. Expanding on the limited repertoire of reported photoswitchable fluorescent NBDs, we explore their properties with a focus on applications in bioimaging of amyloid beta (Aß) plaques. While the fluorescence emission of the NBD decreases upon photoisomerization, aligning with what has been previously reported, for the first time we observed luminescence after irradiation of the quadricyclane (QC) isomer. We deduce how the observed emission is induced by photoisomerization to the excited state of the parent isomer (NBD) which is then the emitting species. Thorough characterizations including NMR, UV-Vis, fluorescence, X-ray structural analysis and density functional theory (DFT) calculations provide a comprehensive understanding of these systems. Notably, one NBD-QC system exhibits exceptional durability. Additionally, these molecules serve as effective fluorescent stains targeting Aß plaques in situ, with observed NBD/QC switching within the plaques. Molecular docking simulations explore NBD interactions with amyloid, unveiling novel binding modes. These insights mark a crucial advancement in the comprehension and design of future photochromic NBDs for bioimaging applications and beyond, emphasizing their potential in studying and addressing protein aggregates.

RESUMO

This in vitro study aimed to compare the color stability of temporary crowns fabricated by 3-dimensional (3D) printing with that of crowns fabricated with 2 manual methods. An impression was made of a prepared central incisor, from which 90 dies were fabricated. The dies were randomly assigned to 3 groups (n = 30) based on crown fabrication method: 3D printing, automix bis-acryl resin, or powder-and-liquid polymethyl methacrylate. All specimens were immersed in a coffee, soft drink, or distilled water solution for 1 week (n = 10 per subgroup). Color change was measured using a spectrophotometer and the International Commission on Illumination's CIE L*a*b* method, and the values were converted to the National Bureau of Standards (NBS) index for assessment and comparison. When color change was assessed according to fabrication method, the highest (mean [SD]) ΔE* value was reported for the automix specimens (3.39 [2.86]), and the lowest was recorded for the powder-and-liquid specimens (2.05 [2.33]) (P < 0.05; Kruskal-Wallis test). The difference between ΔE* values of the 3D printing group (2.46 [1.75]) and the powder-and-liquid group was not statistically significant. When color change was assessed according to the immersion solution, the coffee solution showed a significantly higher (mean [SD]) ΔE* value (5.04 [2.67]) than the soft drink (1.43 [0.92]) and distilled water (3.41 [7.93]) solutions (P < 0.05; Kruskal-Wallis test). The color changes associated with the 3 methods were statistically equal in terms of the NBS index ranges, most frequently falling in the range of very minor to acceptable change. The powder-and-liquid method seems to be most suitable for fabricating temporary prostheses for long-term use.

RESUMO

Visible-to-ultraviolet (UV) triplet-triplet annihilation photochemical upconversion (TTA-UC) has gained a lot of attention recently due to its potential for driving demanding high-energy photoreactions using low-intensity visible light. The efficiency of this process has rapidly improved in the past few years, in part thanks to the recently discovered annihilator compound 1,4-bis((triisopropylsilyl)ethynyl)naphthalene (N-2TIPS). Despite its beneficial TTA-UC characteristics, the success of N-2TIPS in this context is not yet fully understood. In this work, we seek to elucidate what role the specific type and number of substituents in naphthalene annihilator compounds play to achieve the characteristics sought after for TTA-UC. We show that the type of substituent attached to the naphthalene core is crucial for its performance as an annihilator. More specifically, we argue that the choice of substituent dictates to what degree the sensitized triplets form excimer complexes with ground state annihilators of the same type, which is a process competing with that of TTA. The addition of more bulky substituents positively impacts the upconverting ability by impeding excimer formation on the triplet surface, an effect that is enhanced with the number of substituents. The presence of triplet excimers is confirmed from transient absorption measurements, and the excimer formation rate is quantified, showing several orders of magnitude differences between different derivatives. These insights will aid in the further development of annihilator compounds for solar energy applications for which the behavior at low incident powers is of particular significance.

RESUMO

Background: Tightening and loosening of the prosthetic components of the implant are carried out with various screw designs. This study compared the rate of deformation of the abutment screw in two hexagonal and star screw head designs after consecutive tightening and loosening. Methods: In this study, two fixtures were mounted vertically in die stone blocks using a surveyor. Then the corresponding abutment (with a diameter of 4.5 mm and a gingival height of 2 mm; Dio-SM and Dio-UF system) was mounted on each fixture. In each fixture, six abutment screws from each manufacturer were used (12 abutment screws in total). The abutment screw head of the Dio-UF system is hexagonal, and the abutment screw head of the Dio-SM system is star-shaped. The samples were examined under a stereomicroscope (Nikon C-DS) at a magnification of×50. The image of each abutment screw head (6 abutment screws in each group) was prepared before the procedural steps and after 5, 10, and 15 times of tightening and loosening with 25-Ncm torque using a stereomicroscope. Then the differences in the surface areas of consecutive specimens (0, 5, 10, and 15 consecutive tightening and loosening rounds) between hexagonal and star-shaped abutment screws were calculated. The study results were reported via descriptive statistical methods (mean±standard deviation). Statistical analysis was performed using SPSS 24, and the significance level was defined at P<0.05. Results: Increasing the number of tightening and loosening rounds increased the screw head surface area in both hexagonal and star shapes. At all stages, the changes in the star-shaped screw head were greater than in the hexagonal screw. These changes were statistically significant at all stages (P<0.05). In addition, there was a statistically significant difference between the area values and the number of tightening and loosening rounds separately in both screw types (P<0.001). Also, the surface areas of the head of both screws in all tightening and loosening rounds were significantly different (P<0.001). Conclusion: Increasing the number of tightening and loosening rounds increased the screw head surface area in both hexagonal and star-shaped geometrical forms. Also, the extent of area changes at all stages in star-shaped screw heads was greater than in hexagonal screws.

RESUMO

Background: Pain after periodontal surgeries is one of the most common complications. Echium amoenum is among the important therapeutic herbs in Iranian traditional medicine. Various studies have shown its pain control properties. This study aimed to evaluate this herb's efficacy in controlling pain after periodontal surgeries. Methods: In this randomized clinical trial, 50 patients referred to Tabriz Dental School for clinical crown lengthening surgery were divided into two equal groups: control and test. In the test group (using E. amoenum), 24 hours before surgery, E. amoenum was administered to the patient at home every 12 hours, and a dose of E. amoenum was administered one hour before the procedure. The postoperative pain was assessed using VAS 30 minutes, 1 hour, and 3 hours after the surgery and verbal rating scale (VRS) 24, 48, and 72 hours postoperatively. A chi-square test was used to compare the pain severity between the two groups. Results: The VAS index was significantly lower in the E. amoenum group compared to the control group (30 minutes, 1 hour, and 3 hours after the procedure) (P<0.05). In both groups, pain severity increased significantly up to 3 hours postoperatively (P<0.05). In the first 24 hours, the VRS index of the E. amoenum group was significantly lower than that of the control group (P<0.05), with no significant differences between the two groups at 48 and 72 hours (P>0.05). Conclusion: The E. amoenum herb reduced the pain severity after clinical crown lengthening surgeries.

RESUMO

Sustainable photonics applications of solid-state triplet-triplet annihilation photon upconversion (TTA-UC) are limited by a small UC spectral window, low UC efficiency in air, and non-recyclability of polymeric materials used. In a step to overcome these issues, we have developed new recyclable TTA-UC bioplastics by encapsulating TTA-UC chromophores liquid inside the semicrystalline gelatin films showing broad-spectrum upconversion (red/far-red to blue) with high UC efficiency in air. For this, we synthesized a new anionic annihilator, sodium-TIPS-anthracene-2-sulfonate (TIPS-AnS), that combined with red/far-red sensitizers (PdTPBP/Os(m-peptpy)2(TFSI)2), a liquid surfactant Triton X-100 reduced (TXr) and protein gelatin (G) formed red/far-red to blue TTA-UC bioplastic films just by air drying of their aqueous solutions. The G-TXr-TIPS-AnS-PdTPBP film showed record red to blue (633 to 478 nm) TTA-UC quantum yield of 8.5% in air. The high UC quantum yield has been obtained due to the fluidity of dispersed TXr containing chromophores and oxygen blockage by gelatin fibers that allowed efficient diffusion of triplet excited chromophores. Further, the G-TXr-TIPS-AnS-Os(m-peptpy)2(TFSI)2 bioplastic film displayed far-red to blue (700-730 nm to 478 nm) TTA-UC, demonstrating broad-spectrum photon harvesting. Finally, we demonstrated the recycling of G-TXr-TIPS-AnS-PdTPBP bioplastics by developing a downstream approach that gives new directions for designing future recyclable photonics bioplastic materials.

RESUMO

We report the first example of direct far-red triplet sensitized molecular photoswitching in a condensed phase wherein a liquid azobenzene derivative (Azo1) co-assembled within a liquid surfactant-protein film undergoes triplet sensitized Z-to-E photoswitching upon far-red/red light excitation in air. The role of triplet sensitization in photoswitching has been confirmed by quenching of sensitizer phosphorescence by Z-Azo1 and temperature-dependent photoswitching experiments. Herein, we demonstrate new biosustainable fabrication designs to address key challenges in solid-state photoswitching, effectively mitigating chromophore aggregation and requirement of high energy excitations by dispersing the photoswitch in the trapped liquid inside the solid framework and by shifting the action spectrum from blue-green light (450-560 nm) to the far-red/red light (740/640 nm) region.

RESUMO

Background: The present study aimed to determine the effect of mouthwashes on the shear bond strength (SBS) and surface roughness (SR) of soft liners. Materials and Methods: In this in vitro study, a total of 72 samples were prepared to evaluate the SBS (n = 36 for each liner). An autopolymerized (Mollosil Plus) and a heat-polymerized liner (Molloplast B) were injected in between two blocks of heat-processed acrylic resin (Triplex). The samples in each liner group were subdivided into three subgroups. Control group samples were totally stored in distilled water. In test groups, samples were immersed in chlorhexidine (CHX) or mouthwash containing ginger extract for 30 min daily. After 20 days, the SBSs were evaluated using a universal testing machine. To evaluate the SR, 30 disk-shaped samples (15mm*10mm) were prepared for each type of liners and stored in the similar solutions; distilled water, CHX and ginger mouthwash (n=10). SR was measured at 1 day and after 90 days with a profilometer. One-way ANOVA, independent t-test, and paired t-test were used to analyze data. P < 0.05 was considered statistically significant. Results: The SBS in Molloplast B liner was significantly higher than Mollosil regardless of type of solution (P < 0.001). In both liners, the mean SBS was not statistically different between the three groups of solutions. Changes in SR were not statistically significant after 90 days, except for the Mollosil group, immersed in ginger extract solution which was increased (P = 0.04). Conclusion: SBS of either group of liners did not change in both mouthwashes; However, SBS of heat-polymerized liner was higher than autopolymerized in all groups. Ginger extract-containing mouthwash increased SR of autopolymerized liner used in this study; whereas, there were no significant changes in the heat-cured liner. According to this study, CHX can be used for the disinfection of prosthesis lined with either type of liners.

RESUMO

Background: This clinical trial evaluated the effect of coenzyme Q10 supplementation along with scaling and root planing (SRP) on periodontal and gingival indices in controlled diabetic patients. Methods: Forty-two diabetic patients (controlled type), referred to the Department of Periodontics with chronic periodontitis and eligible for the study, were included in the study. Patients suffering from chronic periodontitis with a probing pocket depth of ≥5 mm in different quadrants of the oral cavity with radiographic evidence of bone loss were included in the present randomized, double-masked, placebo-controlled clinical trial. The subjects were instructed to take one capsule of coenzyme Q10 or a placebo every day for 30 days following SRP. Clinical parameters, i.e., plaque index (PI), gingival index (GI), bleeding on probing (BOP), clinical attachment level (CAL), and probing pocket depth (PPD), were recorded at baseline and four weeks after treatment by two masked and calibrated examiners. The study results were reported as (mean ± standard deviations) and frequencies (percentages). Results: One month after the intervention, PPD, CAL, BOP, and PI indices in the intervention group were significantly lower than those in the control group. One month after the intervention, the GI was similar in both groups. A significant decrease was observed in the GI in both groups after the intervention. Conclusion: The results of the present study showed that Q10 orally with scaling and root planing in patients with controlled diabetes with chronic periodontitis might accelerate the treatment process and significantly reduce the pocket depth.

RESUMO

Background: Inferior alveolar nerve damage can lead to mild to severe paresthesia and even facial pain. One of the treatments considered today for the reconstruction and treatment of damaged peripheral nerves is the use of vitamin supplements. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of vitamin B complex supplementation on pain and sensory problems following mandibular implant placement surgery. Methods: In this single-blind clinical trial, 46 patients applying for implant placement, who were eligible for the study, were evaluated. All the patients were examined for sensory facial injury and inferior alveolar nerve injury within 24 hours after implant placement. The nerve damage was recorded by AI (asymmetry index) in the initial examination. Patients who reported clinical and radiographic signs of nerve damage due to implant or drill impingement of the nerve canal were excluded from the study and promptly treated with anti-inflammatory protocols. Then the patients were randomly divided into control (n=23) and intervention (n=23) groups. Patients in the control group received routine treatment after implantation, and patients in the intervention group received vitamin B complex pills in addition to routine treatment. A placebo was used to eliminate the inductive effect of the drug in the control group. Follow-up of patients was performed at intervals of 14 days and 1, 2, and 3 months after treatment. Data analysis was performed using SPSS 24 and Kruskal-Wallis, Wilcoxon, and chi-squared tests. Results: In both groups, a decreasing trend in pain intensity was observed for up to three months. There were no significant differences between the mean pain intensity in the intervention and control groups at all the follow-up intervals. In both groups, a decrease in the rate of paresthesia was observed during the 3-month follow-up. The mean of paresthesia in the two groups was not significantly different at any follow-up interval. Conclusion: Vitamin B complex might not affect pain intensity and paresthesia after implant surgery.

RESUMO

Molecular solar-thermal energy storage (MOST) systems are based on photoswitches that reversibly convert solar energy into chemical energy. In this context, bicyclooctadienes (BODs) undergo a photoinduced transformation to the corresponding higher energy tetracyclooctanes (TCOs), but the photoswitch system has not until now been evaluated for MOST application, due to the short half-life of the TCO form and limited available synthetic methods. The BOD system degrades at higher temperature via a retro-Diels-Alder reaction, which complicates the synthesis of the compounds. We here report a cross-coupling reaction strategy that enables an efficient synthesis of a series of 4 new BOD compounds. We show that the BODs were able to switch to the corresponding tetracyclooctanes (TCOs) in a reversible way and can be cycled 645 times with only 0.01% degradation. Half-lives of the TCOs were measured, and we illustrate how the half-life could be engineered from seconds to minutes by molecular structure design. A density functional theory (DFT) based modelling framework was developed to access absorption spectra, thermal half-lives, and storage energies which were calculated to be 143-153 kJ mol-1 (0.47-0.51 MJ kg-1), up to 76% higher than for the corresponding norbornadiene. The combined computational and experimental findings provide a reliable way of designing future BOD/TCO systems with tailored properties.

RESUMO

Triplet-triplet annihilation photon upconversion (TTA-UC) is a process in which triplet excitons combine to form emissive singlets and holds great promise in biological applications and for improving the spectral match in solar energy conversion. While high TTA-UC quantum yields have been reported for, for example, red-to-green TTA-UC systems, there are only a few examples of visible-to-ultraviolet (UV) transformations in which the quantum yield reaches 10%. In this study, we investigate the performance of six annihilators when paired with the sensitizer 2,3,5,6-tetra(9H-carbazol-9-yl)benzonitrile (4CzBN), a purely organic compound that exhibits thermally activated delayed fluorescence. We report a record-setting internal TTA-UC quantum yield (ΦUC,g) of 16.8% (out of a 50% maximum) for 1,4-bis((triisopropylsilyl)ethynyl)naphthalene, demonstrating the first example of a visible-to-UV TTA-UC system approaching the classical spin-statistical limit of 20%. Three other annihilators, of which 2,5-diphenylfuran has never been used for TTA-UC previously, also showed impressive performances with ΦUC,g above 12%. In addition, a new method to determine the rate constant of TTA is proposed, in which only time-resolved emission measurements are needed, circumventing the need for more challenging transient absorption measurements. The results reported herein represent an important step toward highly efficient visible-to-UV TTA-UC systems that hold great potential for driving high-energy photochemical reactions.

RESUMO

Background. This systematic review and meta-analysis investigated the prevalence of proximal contact loss and its associated factors. Methods. A bibliographic search was conducted in June 2021 with no limitation in the article date or language and updated in January 2022 by hand searching. There was no time limit on the search to retrieve all studies. The search included randomized controlled trials or quasi-experiments, and cross-sectional or cohort studies were included in the absence of these studies. Two authors screened the title and abstract. After evaluating the full texts of selected articles, irrelevant studies and or non-English papers that were impossible to translate were excluded. Disagreements between the re-viewers' selection process were resolved by debate on the eligibility of studies. Standardized critical appraisal instruments from the Joanna Briggs Institute for different types of studies were used to assess the studies' quality. Comprehensive Meta-Analysis (CMA) software (Version 2.2; Biostat, Englewood, NJ) was used for data analysis. Results. The proximal contact loss (PCL) frequency was %29. According to the results, the frequencies of PCL for the distal and mesial aspects were %7 and %21, respectively. The meta-analysis results showed that the contact loss events on the mesial aspect were statistically higher than on the distal aspect (P<0.0001). There were no significant differences between other associated factors such as the mandibular or maxillary arch, retention type, opposing dentition, implant type, molar or non-molar, parafunction behaviors, and vitality of adjacent teeth. There was a significant association between bone loss and PCL, and in individuals with bone loss >%50, the proximal contact loss was higher (OR: %95[ 2.43 CI: 4.03‒1.47], P=0.0006). The PCL in the anterior area was lower than in the posterior area (P=0.004). Although the frequency of contact loss in females was higher than in males, this rate was not statistically significant. Conclusion. The PCL on the mesial aspect and the posterior area was high. In individuals with bone loss >%50, the proximal contact loss was higher than in others.

RESUMO

The field of single molecule electronics has progressed remarkably in the past decades by allowing for more versatile molecular functions and improving device fabrication techniques. In particular, electrodes made from carbon-based materials such as graphene and carbon nanotubes (CNTs) may enable parallel fabrication of multiple single molecule devices. In this perspective, we review the recent progress in the field of single molecule electronics, with a focus on devices that utilizes carbon-based electrodes. The paper is structured in three main sections: (i) controlling the molecule/graphene electrode interface using covalent and non-covalent approaches, (ii) using CNTs as electrodes for fabricating single molecule devices, and (iii) a discussion of possible future directions employing new or emerging 2D materials.

RESUMO

Background: Periodontal disease is a chronic polymicrobial infectious condition. Non-surgical treatments, including scaling and root planing (SRP) with or without adjunctive treatments, are among the recommended treatment options for this condition. This study investigated the effect of probiotic supplementation in the form of mouthwash with SRP on periodontal indices in patients with stage III grade A generalized periodontitis. Methods: Thirty-six patients were randomly assigned to two groups (n=18) and received SRP treatment along with a placebo in one group and probiotic supplementation in the other. After SRP, the test group used daily probiotics for 20 days. The control group subjects were treated only with SRP and placebo mouthwash. Periodontal indices were determined at three time intervals: at baseline and after one and three months. The data were analyzed using SPSS 17. P<0.05 was considered statistically significantd. Results: There were significant differences in BOP levels in both the test and control groups between different intervals, with no significant difference between the groups. The significance of changes in the CAL and PI indices were similar to those in BOP. There were significant differences in PD levels between the groups after one and three months using the mouthwash. There were also significant differences between the PD values at different intervals in both groups. Conclusion: This study's results showed that probiotic supplementation as a mouthwash, along with SRP, had a positive effect on periodontal indices in patients with stage III and grade A generalized periodontitis.

RESUMO

Background: An inappropriate inflammatory response is the cause of many common diseases, especially periodontitis. Considering that no studies have been carried out to investigate the effect of IL-36γ on chronic periodontitis, this study aimed to investigate the inflammatory mechanism of IL-36γ by stimulating macrophage cells using NF-KB pathway. Methods: This experimental study was performed on 50 healthy individuals and 50 subjects with chronic periodontitis. In this study, macrophage cells were extracted first, and then RNA was isolated from all the samples using TRIzol method. Subsequently, the rate of IL-36γ gene expression was analyzed and compared using real-time PCR technique. Additionally, immunofluorescence (IF) technique was used to investigate the rate of inflammation. The rate of NF-Kb expression was also measured via western blot technique. Finally, statistical analysis of the samples was carried out using appropriate statistical methods with SPSS 17. Results: The results showed that the rate of IL-36γ expression in subjects with periodontitis was higher compared to healthy subjects (P<0.05). Moreover, the results showed that following treatment of cells with TLR4, the rate of IL36γ expression increased significantly, especially during the 12-hour period after treatment. Conclusion: This indicates that after stimulating the TLR pathways, the rate of IL-36γ expression will probably increase.

RESUMO

Background. Periodontitis is an infectious and inflammatory disease of the supporting tissues of the tooth caused by specific microorganisms or a group of microorganisms and, if not treated, leads to progressive degradation of the supporting tissues and subsequent loss of the teeth affected. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of IL-36γ on periodontitis by enhancing the TLR4 and MAPK signaling pathways. Methods. In this pilot study, 50 patients with generalized moderate-to-severe chronic periodontitis and 50 individuals with healthy periodontium, who were candidates for crown lengthening (CL), were selected based on inclusion criteria. The tissue samples were taken during pocket depth surgery (for the test group) and CL surgery (for the control group). The macrophage cells of the inflammatory tissues were extracted and stimulated by TLR4 proteins in a time-dependent manner; then IL-36γ levels in macrophages were investigated. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics (means ± standard deviations and frequency percentages). Repeat measurement test was used to compare IL36γ expression in MAPK and TLR4 pathways at different time intervals. ANCOVA was used to compare IL36γ expression at different time intervals between the two pathways. Statistical analysis was performed using SPSS 17 at a significance level of P<0.05. Results. The results of the current study showed a significant relation between TLR4 and IL-36γ (P<0.001); in tissues with generalized moderate-to-severe chronic periodontitis, there was a significant relation between the condition and IL-36γ (P<0.0001). This study also showed that TLR4 and MAPK levels increased in the presence of IL-36γ. Conclusion. According to the present study, it was concluded that IL-36γ concentrations increased in periodontitis, which could trigger MAPK and TLR4 pathways.

RESUMO

INTRODUCTION: One-stage oral disinfection technique has been developed to prevent cross-contamination between the treated and untreated areas between treatment sessions. Considering the role of inflammatory mediators in periodontitis, this study has been designed to compare the effects of one-stage oral disinfection with quadrant scaling and root planing (Q-SRP) on serum interleukin-27 (IL-27) levels in patients with moderate-to-advanced periodontitis. MATERIALS AND METHODS: In this study, two groups were considered. One group was treated with one-stage full-mouth oral disinfection (FMD), while the other group was treated with Q-SRP. In each group, 20 patients with chronic periodontitis were randomly selected based on the inclusion criteria. To evaluate the periodontal status, the clinical parameters of bleeding on probing (BOP), clinical attachment level (CAL), and probing depth (PD) were measured before treatment as well as at 2- and 4-month intervals after treatment. At the same intervals, the immunological index of the study (serum IL-27) was measured by special laboratory kits. The data were analyzed using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences, version 16 (SPSS 16) software. In this study, p-value < 0.05 was considered statistically significant. RESULTS: The results of this study indicate that there has been an elevation in the mean of serum IL-27 after treatment in both treatment groups. There is no significant difference between the levels of IL-27 in the FMD group during the study period (p = 0.20). All periodontal indices (BOP, CAL, and PD) show clinical improvement in each group (p < 0.001). However, no significant difference was observed in the improvement of periodontal indices of CAL and PD (p < 0.05). CONCLUSION: According to the findings of this study, it can be said that both FMD and Q-SRP improve the periodontal indices and increase the serum level of the inflammatory mediator IL-27 in patients with periodontitis. CLINICAL SIGNIFICANCE: Considering the benefits of the FMD method, such as patient and dentist comfort, systemic effects, and its cost-effectiveness, use of this method is suggested in patients suffering from periodontitis.

RESUMO

Objective: To investigate the color matching of the composite resin used for repaired with initial composite resin restoration after the aging process. Material and Methods: After preparation of 30 composite resin samples, their color were determined using the spectrophotometer four times and the average was recorded. After the initial aging, the color of the samples was measured again. Then, the repair process was performed with an appropriate composite resin color for each sample and the aging process was performed again. After the second aging, the color of the initial and the repaired composite resins were measured. Then, the data were analyzed by paired T-test. The level of significance was set at 5%. Results: The color difference of the initial composite resin between before and after initial aging, as well as the color difference of repaired composite resins between before and after second aging, were significant (p<0.001). Also, after the second aging, the color difference between initial and repaired composite resin restoration were significant (p<0.001). Conclusion: The color matching of the repaired composite resin with the initial one is not acceptable. In this way, replacement of initial composite suggested instead of repaired.
