RESUMO

Eighty-two copper mine workers were subjected to an examination performed twice a day. Field of vision and eye's resolving power were examined in all subjects. Preliminary examination was performed above ground before the miners started their work and later, after five hour's work under ground. During the follow-up examination the limitation of the field of vision was found in 64% of face foremen and in 13.6% of off-face miners. This limitation was observed in the lower temporal quadrants. The limitation is probably of central origin and is connected with the effects of occupational agents, eg. noise. The eye's resolving power assessed under ground was statistically remarkably lower than above ground. However, taking into consideration the inadequate lighting, one might expect more serious changes of this characteristic.

RESUMO

The study of 64 welders employed at automated work stands in the railway car factory conducted in 1989 and 1990 has shown that the psychomotor efficiency level in the examined workers (except for a few cases) was normal. The psychomotor efficiency of the welders studied depended on their age, work day phase and, to a small degree, on the detected biochemical and toxicological disorders.

RESUMO

In 59 miners of mine front places and 50 workers who performed their work on the places situated outside of mine work places the neurological examination was carried out. The nervous over-excitability syndromes connected with suffering from disturbances of sleep, headache and over-excitement in 62% of mine front places miners and in 28% of the other workers were noted. The probable causes of the nervous over-excitability syndrome occurred in the miners of copper mine were discussed.

RESUMO

The study involved 58 workers employed at winding machines. Their reliability was estimated from the results of psychomotoric test precision, condition of the vegetative nervous system, and from the results of psychological tests. The tests were carried out at the laboratory and at the workplaces, with all distractive factors and functional connection of the work process present. We have found that the reliability of the workers may be affected by a variety of factors. Among the winding machine operators, work monotony can lead to "monotony syndrome". Among the signalists , the appreciation of great responsibility can lead to unpredictable and non-adequate reactions. From both groups, persons displaying a lower-than-average precision were isolated. All those persons demonstrated a reckless attitude and the opinion of their superiors about them was poor. Those persons constitute potential risk for the reliable operation of the discussed team.

RESUMO

The study was aimed at a comparison of the results of the reaction time for single (light or sound) and double stimuli (simultaneous emission of light and sound) in machine operators. The studies were carried out under laboratory conditions and in the working environment. The obtained data proved that underground, under specific copper mine conditions, similar to laboratory conditions, the theory of "intersensory facilitation" should be applied. The results of our studies can be useful for ergonomic practice.
