RESUMO

The present study aimed to establish an effective prognostic nomogram model based on the Naples prognostic score (NPS) for resectable thoracic esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC). A total of 277 patients with ESCC, who underwent standard curative esophagectomy and designated as study cohort, were retrospectively analyzed. The patients were divided into different groups, including NPS 0, NPS 1, NPS 2, and NPS 3 or 4 groups, for further analysis, and the results were validated in an external cohort of 122 ESCC patients, who underwent surgery at another cancer center. In our multivariate analysis of the study cohort showed that the tumor-node-metastasis (TNM) stage, systemic inflammation score, and NPS were the independent prognostic factors for the overall survival (OS) and progression-free survival (PFS) durations. In addition, the differential grade was also an independent prognostic factor for the OS in the patients with ESCC after surgery (all P < .05). The area under the curve of receiver operator characteristics for the PFS and OS prediction with systemic inflammation score and NPS were 0.735 (95% confidence interval [CI] 0.676-0.795, P < .001) and 0.835 (95% CI 0.786-0.884, P < .001), and 0.734 (95% CI 0.675-0.793, P < .001) and 0.851 (95% CI 0.805-0.896, P < .001), respectively. The above independent predictors for OS or PFS were all selected in the nomogram model. The concordance indices (C-indices) of the nomogram models for predicting OS and PFS were 0.718 (95% CI 0.681-0.755) and 0.669 (95% CI 0.633-0.705), respectively, which were higher than that of the 7th edition of American Joint Committee on Cancer TNM staging system [C-index 0.598 (95% CI 0.558-0.638) for OS and 0.586 (95% CI 0.546-0.626) for PFS]. The calibration curves for predicting the 5-year OS or PFS showed a good agreement between the prediction by nomogram and actual observation. In the external validation cohort, the nomogram discrimination for OS was better than that of the 7th edition of TNM staging systems [C-index: 0.697 (95% CI 0.639-0.755) vs 0.644 (95% CI 0.589-0.699)]. The calibration curves showed good consistency in predicting the 5-year survival between the actual observation and nomogram predictions. The decision curve also showed a higher potential of the clinical application of predicting the 5-years OS of the proposed nomogram model as compared to that of the 7th edition of TNM staging systems. The preoperative NPS-based nomogram model had a certain potential role for predicting the prognosis of ESCC patients.

RESUMO

The efficient and clean utilization of urban waste can substitute for partial fossil fuels and reduce total carbon emissions. Fuel combustion is divided into three stages. Before the fire, the fuel is put into the furnace to reach the preparation stage of the fire temperature, the combustion stage takes place after the ignition temperature is reached, and finally, the combustion is completed. This article employs numerical simulation methods to comprehensively study the effects of various factors on the combustion characteristics of waste in a mechanical grate incinerator, including the inclination angle of the front arch, fuel properties, height of the front and rear arches, air distribution methods, and speed of the grate chain rotation. The results indicate that when the rear arch angle is set at 25°, the airflow distribution within the furnace is uniform and the high-temperature flue gas exhibits an ideal "L" shaped flow, achieving favorable characteristics of airflow distribution inside the furnace. With this structure, the airflow from the rear arch can adequately penetrate deep into the front arch area, thereby forming an efficient T-shaped combustion flame.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To investigate whether urethane dimethacrylate (UDMA) -based dental restorative materials biodegrade in the presence of Streptococcus mutans (S. mutans) and whether the monomers affect the adhesion and proliferation of S. mutans in turn. METHODS: Cholesterol esterase and pseudocholinesterase-like activities in S. mutans were detected using p-nitrophenyl substrate. Two UDMA-based CAD/CAM resin-ceramic composites, Lava Ultimate (LU) and Vita Enamic (VE), and a light-cured UDMA resin block were co-cultured with S. mutans for 14 days. Their surfaces were characterized by scanning electron microscopy and laser microscopy, and the byproducts of biodegradation were examined by Ultra Performance Liquid Chromatography-Tandem Mass Spectrometry (UPLC-MS/MS). Then, the antimicrobial components (silver nanoparticles with quaternary ammonium salts) were added to the UDMA resin block to detect whether the biodegradation was restrained. Finally, the effect of UDMA on biofilm formation and virulence expression of S. mutans was assessed. RESULTS: Following a 14-day immersion, the LU and UDMA resin blocks' surface roughness increased. The LU and VE groups had no UDMA or its byproducts discovered, according to the UPLC-MS/MS data, whereas the light-cured UDMA block group had UDMA, urethane methacrylate (UMA), and urethane detected. The addition of antimicrobial agents showed a significant reduction in the release of UDMA. Biofilm staining experiments showed that UDMA promoted the growth of S. mutans biofilm and quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction results indicated that 50 µg/mL UDMA significantly increase the expression of gtfB, comC, comD, comE, and gbpB genes within the biofilm. CONCLUSIONS: UDMA in the light-cured resin can be biodegraded to produce UMA and urethane under the influence of S. mutans. The formation of early biofilm can be promoted and the expression of cariogenic genes can be up-regulated by UDMA. CLINICAL SIGNIFICANCE: This study focuses for the first time on whether UDMA-based materials can undergo biodegradation and verifies from a genetic perspective that UDMA can promote the formation of S. mutans biofilms, providing a reference for the rational use of UDMA-based materials in clinical practice.

RESUMO

According to the design and operational parameters of the cyclone liquid slag-discharging boiler, an experimental platform for the cyclone burner was designed and constructed in a cold state based on the principle of similarity. The experimental study investigated the effects of parameters, such as swirl-vane angles, coal concentration, operating parameters, and particle size, on the flow distribution and vertical riser resistance characteristics of the vertical cyclone burner. The results showed that there were differences in flow distribution among the cyclone burners, and the most uniform flow distribution was achieved when the swirl-vane angle of the primary air was 30°. The concentration of pulverized coal significantly influenced the pressure drop in the vertical ascending section, which increased with higher concentrations of pulverized coal. When the concentration of pulverized coal remains constant, the pipeline pressure drop is minimized at a primary air velocity of 7.5 m/s. As the secondary wind speed increased, the pressure drop consistently rose; when the secondary wind speed is 22 m/s, the pressure drop of the pipeline is the maximum; however, excessively high secondary wind speeds were found to be detrimental to the formation of an optimal aerodynamic field in the burner. Furthermore, when the pulverized coal concentration was held constant, materials with larger particle sizes exhibited the highest pressure drop. When the particle size increases from 50 to 150 µm, the pressure drop of the vertical riser segment also increases. Finally, based on the Barth additional pressure drop theory, the pressure drop formula of the vertical riser is fitted by a dimensional analysis method, and the correlation formula of the pressure drop test of gas-solid two-phase flow in the vertical riser is obtained.

RESUMO

The advantages of 2D materials in alleviating the issues of short-channel effect and power dissipation in field-effect transistors (FETs) are well recognized. However, the progress of complementary integrated circuits has been stymied by the absence of high-performance (HP) and low-power (LP) p-channel transistors. Therefore, we conducted an investigation into the electronic and ballistic transport characteristics of monolayer Be2C, which features quasi-planar hexacoordinate carbons, by employing nonequilibrium Green's function combined with density functional theory. Be2C monolayer has planar anticonventional bonds and a direct bandgap of 1.53 eV. The Ion of p-type Be2C HP FETs can achieve a remarkable 2767 µA µm-1. All of the device properties of 2D Be2C FETs can exceed the demands of the International Roadmap for Devices and Systems. The excellent properties of Be2C as a 2D p-orbital material with a high hole mobility are discussed from different aspects. Our findings thus illustrate the tremendous potential of 2D Be2C for the next generation of HP and LP electronics applications.

RESUMO

In recent years, dental resin materials have become increasingly popular for cavity filling. However, these materials can shrink during polymerization, leading to microleakages that enable bacteria to erode tooth tissue and cause secondary caries. As a result, there is great clinical demand for the development of antibacterial resins. The principle of antibacterial resin includes contact killing and filler-release killing of bacteria. For contact killing, quaternary ammonium salts (QACs) and antibacterial peptides (AMPs) can be added. For filler-release killing, chlorhexidine (CHX) and nanoparticles are used. These antibacterial agents are effective against gram-positive bacteria, gram-negative bacteria, fungi, and more. Among them, QACs has a lasting antibacterial effect, and silver nanoparticles even have a certain ability to kill viruses. Biocompatibility-wise, QACs, AMPs, and CHX have low cytotoxicity to cells when added into the resin. However, nanoparticles with smaller particle sizes have higher cytotoxicity. In terms of mechanical properties, QACs, AMPs, and CHX do not negatively affect the resin. However, the addition of magnesium oxide can have a negative impact. This paper reviews the types and antibacterial principles of commonly used antibacterial resins in recent years, evaluates their antibacterial effect, biological safety, and mechanical properties, and provides references for selecting clinical filling materials.

RESUMO

Submarine garbage is constantly destroying the marine ecological environment and polluting the ocean. It is critical to use detection methods to quickly locate and identify submarine garbage. The background of submarine garbage images is much more complex than that of natural scene images, with object deformation and missing contours putting higher demands on the detection network. To solve the problem of low accuracy under complex backgrounds, full stage networks with auxiliary focal loss and multi-attention module are proposed for submarine garbage object detection based on YOLO. To maximize the gradient combination, a hierarchical fusion feature mechanism and a segmentation and merging strategy are used in this paper to optimize the difference in gradient combination to obtain full-stage features. Then the criss-cross attention module is used to precisely extract multi-scale features of small object dense regions while removing noise information from complex backgrounds. Finally, the auxiliary focal loss function addresses the issue of unbalanced positive and negative samples, focusing on the learning of difficult samples while improving overall detection precision. Based on comparative experiments and ablation experiments, the FSA networks achieved state-of-the-art performance, and is applicable to the real-time object detection of submarine garbage in complex backgrounds.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Drawing can regulate emotions through venting or distraction. Distraction is more helpful for short-term emotion recovery; however, the sustainability of this difference is yet to be clarified. This study used functional near-infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS) to explore potential differences between venting and distraction. METHODS: A total of 44 college students participated in the experiment. After inducing fear by video, they were divided into two groups: The venting group drew their emotional experience, and the distraction group drew a house. Subsequently, the participants were instructed to relax by a brief video. RESULTS: Although the distraction group had a higher valence than the venting group at the end of the drawing activity, there was no difference between the two groups after a relaxation period. Additionally, the activation pattern of the prefrontal cortex differed between the two groups. Compared to the distraction group, the venting group had fewer channels with elevated prefrontal activity during drawing, suggesting less cognitive control, and had more channels with reduced prefrontal activity during relaxation, suggesting a higher level of relaxation. Drawing coding and fNIRS data were both associated with variations in valence. CONCLUSION: The less the cognitive control over emotion and the more free the expression of emotion during drawing, the higher the increase in valence; inversely, the more the cognitive control over emotion and the less free the expression of emotion, the lower the increase in valence.

RESUMO

In this study, we explored the prognostic risk factors of elderly patients (≥65 years old) with lymph node-negative esophageal cancer (EC) and established a nomogram to evaluate the cancer-specific survival of patients. The surveillance, epidemiology, and end results database was used to collect data on patients diagnosed with EC. Univariate and multivariate Cox analyses were used to determine independent prognostic factors, and the nomogram for predicting cancer-specific survival of EC patients was constructed based on the independent prognostic factors obtained from the multivariate Cox analysis. To evaluate the predictive ability of the nomogram, calibration curves, concordance index (C-index), receiver operating characteristic curves, and decision curve analysis were conducted. Kaplan-Meier method was used to analyze the long-term outcomes of EC patients with different risk stratifications. A total of 3050 cases with lymph node-negative EC were randomized into the training cohort (1525) and the validation cohort (1525). Cancer-specific mortality at 1, 3, and 5 years in the entire cohort was 30.7%, 41.8%, and 59.2%, respectively. In multivariate Cox analysis, age (P < .001), marital status (P < .001), tumor size (P < .001), Tumor-node-metastasis stage (P < .001), chemotherapy (P = .011), radiotherapy (P < .001), and surgery (P < .001) were independent prognostic factors. The C-index for the training cohort was 0.740 (95% confidence interval [CI]: 0.722-0.758), and the C-index for the validation cohort was 0.738 (95% CI: 0.722-0.754). The calibration curve demonstrated the great calibration ability of the nomogram. Based on the area under the receiver operating characteristic curve, the nomogram demonstrated a higher sensitivity than the tumor-node-metastasis stage. Decision curve analysis showed the good clinical utility of the nomogram. The risk stratification system was established using the Kaplan-Meier curve and verified by the log-rank test (P < .001). The nomogram and risk stratification system can improve the accuracy of prediction to help clinicians identify high-risk patients and make treatment decisions.

RESUMO

Gaze estimation plays a critical role in human-centered vision applications such as human-computer interaction and virtual reality. Although significant progress has been made in automatic gaze estimation by deep convolutional neural networks, it is still difficult to directly deploy deep learning based gaze estimation models across different edge devices, due to the high computational cost and various resource constraints. This work proposes LiteGaze, a deep learning framework to learn architectures for efficient gaze estimation via neural architecture search (NAS). Inspired by the once-for-all model (Cai et al., 2020), this work decouples the model training and architecture search into two different stages. In particular, a supernet is trained to support diverse architectural settings. Then specialized sub-networks are selected from the obtained supernet, given different efficiency constraints. Extensive experiments are performed on two gaze estimation datasets and demonstrate the superiority of the proposed method over previous works, advancing the real-time gaze estimation on edge devices.

RESUMO

AIM: To develop a miRNA-205 based model for prediction of the recurrence of endometrial cancer. METHODS: The FIGO (International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics) stage, grading, myometrial infiltration, lymph node status and miRNA-205 expression levels were extracted from 90 endometrioid endometrial cancer patients, recurrence related risk factors were analyzed by Cox regression analysis. A risk model was then developed. RESULTS: A total of 90 endometrial cancer patients were retrospectively included for the analysis. The FIGO stage and expression levels of miRNA 205 were independently associated with the recurrence-free survival of the patients. The FIGO stage and expression levels of miRNA 205 were used for a prognostic model of recurrence-free survival. The c-index of the model reached 0.764, and the output of the model (risk score) could stratify the patients into different groups on the risk of recurrence. CONCLUSION: A miRNA-205 based model could predict the risk of recurrence for endometrioid endometrial cancer, and the model could provide a risk stratification of patients by recurrence risk.

RESUMO

Introduction: Achieving a successful reconstruction of alveolar bone morphology still remains a challenge because of the irregularity and complex microenvironment of tooth sockets. Biological materials including hydroxyapatite and collagen, are used for alveolar ridge preservation. However, the healing effect is often unsatisfactory. Methods: Inspired by superwetting biomimetic materials, we constructed a 3D actively-spreading bone repair material. It consisted of photocurable polyether F127 diacrylate hydrogel loaded with mixed spheroids of mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) and vascular endothelial cells (ECs). Results: Biologically, cells in the spheroids were able to spread and migrate outwards, and possessed both osteogenic and angiogenic potential. Meanwhile, ECs also enhanced osteogenic differentiation of MSCs. Mechanically, the excellent physical properties of F127DA hydrogel ensured that it was able to be injected directly into the tooth socket and stabilized after light curing. In vivo experiments showed that MSC-EC-F127DA system promoted bone repair and preserved the shape of alveolar ridge within a short time duration. Discussion: In conclusion, the novel photocurable injectable MSC-EC-F127DA hydrogel system was able to achieve three-dimensional tissue infiltration, and exhibited much therapeutic potential for complex oral bone defects in the future.

RESUMO

ETHNOPHARMACOLOGICAL RELEVANCE: Bupleuri Radix, the dried roots of Bupleurum chinense DC. (BC) or Bupleurum scorzonerifolium Willd., is one of the most frequently used traditional Chinese medicines. As the species in Xiao-Chai-Hu decoction, BC has been used as an antipyretic medicine with a long history. However, its antipyretic characteristics and underlying mechanism(s) remain unclear. AIM OF THE STUDY: To elucidate the antipyretic characteristics and mechanism(s) of BC used in its traditional way. METHODS: The water extract of BC (BCE) was prepared according to the traditional decocting mode. Murine fever and endotoxemia models were induced by intravenous injection of lipopolysaccharide (LPS). In vitro complement activation assay and the levels of TNF-α, IL-6, IL-1ß, and C5a were determined by ELISA. RESULTS: BCE exerted a confirmed but mild antipyretic effect on LPS-induced fever of rat. In vitro, it significantly lowered LPS-elevated TNF-α in the supernatant of rat complete blood cells and THP-1 cells, but failed to decrease IL-6 and IL-1ß. In murine endotoxemia models, BCE markedly decreased serum TNF-α, but had no impact on IL-6 and IL-1ß. BCE also restricted complement activation in vitro and in vivo. Nevertheless, the mixture of saikosaponin A and D could not suppress supernatant TNF-α of monocytes and serum TNF-α of endotoxemia mice. CONCLUSIONS: The present study dissects the peripheral mechanism for the antipyretic effect of BC used in the traditional way. Our findings indicate that BCE directly suppresses monocyte-produced TNF-α, thus decreasing circulating TNF-α, which may be responsible for its mild but confirmed antipyretic action.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Dentists must be able to identify subtle color changes as shade-matching is crucial in aesthetic dentistry. OBJECTIVE: To determine whether color discrimination ability is related to shade-matching accuracy among dentists. METHODS: The sensitivity of the normal-color vision population to different colors was investigated using Farnsworth Munsell 100 Hue (FM-100) test results. The FM-100 test was administered to 37 dentists at the Hospital of Stomatology, Jilin University. Sensitivity of dentists with normal-color vision to different colors was investigated using the FM-100 test. Participants were instructed to arrange color caps of various colors according to the gradual change in colors and the results were scored. Visual shade matching test using Vita 3D-MASTER shade guide was performed to determine shade-matching accuracy. The relationship between color discrimination ability and shade-matching accuracy was analyzed. The number of misplaced color caps in the FM-100 test was also calculated. RESULTS: The FM-100 test revealed that 16 and 21 participants had excellent and average color discrimination ability, respectively, and their shade-matching accuracies were 68.75% and 66.67%, respectively. No significant difference was observed in the shade-matching accuracy between the two groups. No significant correlation was observed between the color discrimination ability and shade-matching accuracy. In addition, the number of wrong color caps on the 43-63 color tray with the transition from blue-green to blue-purple was the highest according to Friedman's test. CONCLUSION: Color discrimination ability of dentists does not affect their visual shade-matching accuracy. Additionally, people with normal color vision are not sensitive to the transition from blue-green to blue-purple.

RESUMO

ETHNOPHARMACOLOGICAL RELEVANCE: The genus Bupleurum (family Apiaceae), comprising approximately 248 accepted species, is widely distributed and used in China, Japan, India, Central Asia, North Africa and some European countries as traditional herbal medicines. Certain species have been reported to have significant therapeutic effects in fever, inflammatory disorders, cancer, gastric ulcer, virus infection and other diseases. AIM OF THE REVIEW: we performed a comprehensive review of the ten-year research progress in phytochemistry, pharmacology, toxicity, along with bibliometrics research of the genus Bupleurum, aiming to identify knowledge gaps for future research. MATERIALS AND METHODS: All the literatures are retrieved from library and electronic sources including Web of Science, PubMed, Elsevier, Google Scholar, CNKI and Baidu Scholar. These papers cover studies of the traditional use, phytochemistry, pharmacology, and toxicology of the genus Bupleurum. RESULTS: There is a long history of using the genus Bupleurum in traditional herbal medicine that dated back to over 2000 years ago. Twenty-five species and 8 varieties with 3 variants within this genus have been reported to be effective to treat fever, pain, liver disease, inflammation, thoracolumbar pain, irregular menstruation and rectal prolapse. The main phytochemicals found in these plants are triterpene saponins, volatile oil, flavonoid, lignans, and polysaccharides. Many of these compounds have also been shown to have anti-inflammatory, anti-tumor, antimicrobial, immunoregulation, neuroregulation, hepatoprotective and antidiabetic activities. Meanwhile, improper usage of Bupleurum may induce cytotoxic effects, and polyacetylenes may be the main poisonous compounds. CONCLUSIONS: This article summarized recent findings about Bupleurum research from many different aspects. While a small number of Bupleurum species have been investigated through modern pharmacology methods, there are still major knowledge gaps due to inadequate studies and ambiguous findings. Future research could focus on more specific phytochemistry studies combined with mechanistic analysis to provide better guidance to utilize Bupleurum as medicinal resources.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: The similar elastic modulus of resin-matrix ceramics to dentin has resulted in their recent widespread application clinically. Nevertheless, the bacterial environment of oral cavity can degrade the resin composite. OBJECTIVE: The objective was to analyse the effect of S. mutans and its fluoride-resistant strains on the adhesion of three CAD/CAM ceramics. METHODS: S. mutans UA159 (UA) was identified, and its fluoride-resistant strain (FR) was induced. For crack observation, three kinds of CAD/CAM ceramics (IPS Empress, Lava Ultimate and Vita Enamic) were bonded with tooth complex (enamel, dentin and flowable resin) through adhesive. For micro-tensile test, ceramics were bonded with flowable resin, and cut into strip test pieces. Then specimens were immersed into the UA, FR and the control solution (BHI) separately for 14 d. Ceramic-adhesive interface and adhesive-tooth complex interface were observed and analyzed through electron microscope and stereomicroscope. Micro-tensile test was conducted. RESULTS: Specimens in bacterial solutions had more cracks and comparatively weaker micro-tensile strength than those in BHI. In ceramic-adhesive interface, Lava Ultimate produced the most cracks. In adhesive-tooth complex interface, adhesive-dentin produced the most cracks. Meanwhile, IPS Empress had the strongest micro-tensile strength when bonded with resin. CONCLUSIONS: S. mutans and its fluoride resistant strain can cause cracks in the bonding of ceramics and dental tissue, especially resin-matrix ceramic and dentin, and weaken the bonding strength between ceramics and resin.

RESUMO

Background: Saikosaponins are regarded as one of the most likely antipyretic constituents of Bupleuri Radix, establishing a comprehensive method that can reflect both the proportion of all constituents and the content of each saikosaponin is critical for its quality evaluation. Methods: In this study, the combination method of quantitative analysis of multiple components with a single marker (QAMS) and fingerprint was firstly established for simultaneous determination of 7 kinds of saikosaponins in Bupleuri Radix by ultra-high performance liquid chromatography (UPLC). Results: The results showed that saikosaponin d was identified as the optimum IR by evaluating the fluctuations and stability of the relative calibration factors (RCFs) under four different conditions. The new QAMS method has been confirmed to accurately quantify the 7 kinds of saikosaponins by comparing the obtained results with those obtained from external standard method and successfully classify the 20 batches of Bupleuri Radix from 8 provinces of China. The experimental time of fingerprint was significantly reduced to approximate 0.5 h through UPLC-PAD method, a total of 17 common peaks were identified. Conclusion: The QAMS-fingerprint method is feasible and reliable for the quality evaluation of Bupleuri Radix. This method could be considered to be spread in the production enterprises of Bupleuri Radix.

RESUMO

INTRODUCTION: Psoriasis is a kind of chronic inflammatory skin disease characterized by erythema, skin hyperplasia, scales and keratinocyte hyperproliferation. Psoriasis Vulgaris, the most common kind of psoriasis, severely deteriorates the life quality of patients. Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is a good choice for the treatment of psoriasis, which has been proved to be safe and effective, and may reduce the recurrence rate. In clinical practice, Liangxue Jiedu Runzhi (LJR) ointment can effectively treat mild and moderate psoriasis with blood-heat syndrome, but there is a lack of evidence-based medical evidence. This trial aims to evaluate the efficacy and safety of LJR ointment for the treatment of mild and moderate psoriasis with blood-heat syndrome. METHODS: A multicenter, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, and self-controlled clinical trial was carried out according to this paper. The symmetrical rashes of each subject were regarded as the target lesions and were randomly divided into a treatment group (LJR ointment group) and a control group (placebo group). The LJR ointment or placebo ointment were externally administered on bilateral symmetric rashes, twice a day for eight weeks. The follow-up examination was made for subjects every two weeks. The primary research finding was conveyed by Psoriasis Area and Severity Index (PASI) in 8 weeks. The secondary research finding includes adverse events. RESULTS: 46 subjects undergo this research project. The difference between PASI scores of the target lesions in the treatment group and control group is statistically significant were in 8 weeks (P < .001). The percentage of PASI 75 in treatment group and control group were 48% and 15% in week 8, respectively (x2 = 11.33, P < .05). No severe adverse events were reported. CONCLUSIONS: LJR ointment was proved to have efficacy in the treatment of mild and moderate psoriasis with the blood-heat syndrome.

RESUMO

This article aims to discuss how to give full play to the comparative advantages of the rural ecological environment and realize the endogenous development of rural society and economy in China. First, based on the ecological economy theory of "lucid waters and lush mountains are golden and silver mountains" (the "two mountains" theory), we integrated the theories and methods of ecology, economics, and geography disciplines to examine the transformation of "ecological advantages" into "economic development" from a comprehensive perspective. Second, based on the matching relationship between the division of major function zones and the classification of ecological services, we creatively constructed a theoretical framework for the endogenous development of rural areas. Third, accounting indicators and methods for rural ecological products' biophysical quantity and monetary value are established. Finally, we conducted an empirical study of Nanshi Village in central China as a case. The results showed that: The benefits provided by ecosystems to the development of human society would be underestimated if it is measured only by the provisioning services; the per capita Gross Ecosystem Product (GEP) of the case area was three times the per capita disposable income of rural permanent residents in the same period. Taking advantage of the rural ecological environment to promote the actual transformation of the potential value of ecological products is the feasible path for rural revitalization. One of the implications of this study is that it links the rural ecological and environmental advantages with social and economic development from the perspective of ecological economics and provides decision-making support for this case and other similar rural ecological industry revitalization practices.

RESUMO

Dracaena, a remarkably long-lived and slowly maturing species of plant, is world famous for its ability to produce dragon's blood, a precious traditional medicine used by different cultures since ancient times. However, there is no detailed and high-quality genome available for this species at present; thus, the molecular mechanisms that underlie its important traits are largely unknown. These factors seriously limit the protection and regeneration of this rare and endangered plant resource. Here, we sequenced and assembled the genome of Dracaena cochinchinensis at the chromosome level. The D. cochinchinensis genome covers 1.21 Gb with a scaffold N50 of 50.06 Mb and encodes 31 619 predicted protein-coding genes. Analysis showed that D. cochinchinensis has undergone two whole-genome duplications and two bursts of long terminal repeat insertions. The expansion of two gene classes, cis-zeatin O-glucosyltransferase and small auxin upregulated RNA, were found to account for its longevity and slow growth. Two transcription factors (bHLH and MYB) were found to be core regulators of the flavonoid biosynthesis pathway, and reactive oxygen species were identified as the specific signaling molecules responsible for the injury-induced formation of dragon's blood. Our study provides high-quality genomic information relating to D. cochinchinensis and significant insight into the molecular mechanisms responsible for its longevity and formation of dragon's blood. These findings will facilitate resource protection and sustainable utilization of Dracaena.
