RESUMO

The sustainable development of ecologically fragile areas and the implementation of regional coordinated development strategies cannot be separated from the coordinated development and common progress of urbanization and the ecological environment, and this is particularly the case in Southwest China. This study examines the interplay between urbanization and the ecological environment across 26 cities in Southwest China from 2009 to 2019, utilizing 30 statistical indicators to analyze their coupling coordination relationship and its spatiotemporal evolution. The Entropy TOPSIS method, the coupling coordination degree model, and the obstacle factors model were used to calculate the subsystem score, coupling coordination degree, and obstacle factors, respectively. Our findings reveal an upward trajectory in urbanization scores across the 26 cities, juxtaposed with a fluctuating downward trend in ecological environment scores. The coupling coordination degree of urbanization and ecological environment in most cities maintained a rapid upward trend and showed spatial distribution characteristics of "strong core, weak middle, and edge." Moreover, our analysis identified public transport facilities, aggregate purchasing power, and cultural supply service services as primary obstacle factors impeding the development of coupling coordination degrees. These research results offer valuable insights for informing future endeavors in achieving high-quality development and fostering ecological civilization.

Yan'an City is a typical squeezed city in China and faces the challenge of limited living space. The adoption of the "Mountain Excavation and City Construction (MECC)" program was poised to elevate the city's livability. Despite the importance of megacity construction projects, few studies have examined their impact on urban livability. This study aims to fill this gap by analyzing the effects of MECC and the satisfaction characteristics of urban livability in Yan'an City, based on survey data from both old and new urban areas. Employing factor analysis and multiple linear regression, this paper assesses the influence of MECC on urban livability across different demographic groups, including age, educational background, and occupation. The empirical findings demonstrate a significant positive effect of the MECC project on urban livability. However, during categorization discussions, some respondents expressed concerns about its negative impact. The results of multiple linear regression indicate that factors such as career prospects, residential satisfaction, interpersonal relationships, and transportation level significantly influence livability (R2 = 0.607 in ND and R2 = 0.609 in OD).

Vertical three-dimensional integration of two-dimensional (2D) semiconductors holds great promise, as it offers the possibility to scale up logic layers in the z axis1-3. Indeed, vertical complementary field-effect transistors (CFETs) built with such mixed-dimensional heterostructures4,5, as well as hetero-2D layers with different carrier types6-8, have been demonstrated recently. However, so far, the lack of a controllable doping scheme (especially p-doped WSe2 (refs. 9-17) and MoS2 (refs. 11,18-28)) in 2D semiconductors, preferably in a stable and non-destructive manner, has greatly impeded the bottom-up scaling of complementary logic circuitries. Here we show that, by bringing transition metal dichalcogenides, such as MoS2, atop a van der Waals (vdW) antiferromagnetic insulator chromium oxychloride (CrOCl), the carrier polarity in MoS2 can be readily reconfigured from n- to p-type via strong vdW interfacial coupling. The consequential band alignment yields transistors with room-temperature hole mobilities up to approximately 425 cm2 V-1 s-1, on/off ratios reaching 106 and air-stable performance for over one year. Based on this approach, vertically constructed complementary logic, including inverters with 6 vdW layers, NANDs with 14 vdW layers and SRAMs with 14 vdW layers, are further demonstrated. Our findings of polarity-engineered p- and n-type 2D semiconductor channels with and without vdW intercalation are robust and universal to various materials and thus may throw light on future three-dimensional vertically integrated circuits based on 2D logic gates.

Urban land use ecological efficiency is crucial to the urbanization process and urban ecosystem sustainability. Cities in ecologically sensitive zones with frequent natural disasters need more complex land use patterns and plans. Achieving the goal of harmonizing economy and ecosystem is key for sustainable development policy makers in these cities. Aiming to explore the urban land use ecological efficiency (LUEE) of ecologically sensitive areas, urban land use ecological efficiency index system of the Loess Plateau was constructed, the SBM-Tobit model was adopted to measure the LUEE and influencing factors from 2009 to 2018, and the characteristics of spatial-temporal evolution was discussed. The results indicated that there were significant spatial differences of LUEE in ecologically sensitive zone. The high-level cities of LUEE were located in the southwest areas, while low-level cities of LUEE were mostly situated in the northeast zones, and the temporal variation trend showed the characteristic of "W" curve. Additionally, the results of key factors identification demonstrated that science and technology expenditure and public transport development had positive effects on urban LUEE, while the land expansion, GDP growth, the second industry and real estate development will limit the improvement of urban LUEE. This study used the scientific evaluation index system and key factors identification method to explore the land use ecological efficiency in ecologically sensitive zones, aiming to provide a case study reference for urban land management and optimization in ecologically fragile areas.

Shikonin, the primary active compound found in the rhizome of the traditional Chinese medicinal herb known as "ZiCao", exhibits a diverse range of pharmacological effects. This drug has a wide range of uses, including as an anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and anti-cancer agent. It is also effective in promoting wound healing and treating autoimmune diseases such as multiple sclerosis, diabetes, asthma, systemic lupus erythematosus, inflammatory bowel disease, psoriasis, and rheumatoid arthritis. Although shikonin has a wide range of applications, its mechanisms are still not fully understood. This review article provides a comprehensive overview of the recent advancements in the use of shikonin for the treatment of immune-related diseases. The article also delves into the anti-inflammatory and immunoregulatory mechanisms of shikonin and offers insights into the inflammation and immunopathogenesis of related diseases. Overall, this article serves as a valuable resource for researchers and clinicians working in this field. These findings not only provide significant new information on the effects and mechanisms of shikonin but also establish a foundation for the development of clinical applications in treating autoimmune diseases.

Purpose: Pembrolizumab and tislelizumab have demonstrated significant clinical benefits in first-line treatment for advanced NSCLC. However, no head-to-head clinical trial has ever compared the optimal choice. Therefore, we conducted an indirect comparison to explore the optimal choice for advanced NSCLC combined with chemotherapy. Methods: We conducted a systematic review of randomized trials; the clinical outcomes included overall survival (OS), progression-free survival (PFS), objective response rate (ORR), and adverse events (AEs). Indirect comparisons between tislelizumab and pembrolizumab were conducted with the Bucher method. Results: Data were abstracted from 6 randomized trials involving more than 2,000 participants. Direct meta-analysis showed that both treatment regimens improved clinical outcomes compared with chemotherapy alone (PFS: hazard ratio (HR)tis+chemo/chemo 0.55, 95% CI 0.45-0.67; HRpem+chemo/chemo 0.53, 95% CI 0.47-0.60; ORR: relative risk (RR)tis+chemo/chemo 1.50, 95% CI 1.32-1.71; RRpem+chemo/chemo 1.89, 95% CI 1.44-2.48). Regarding safety outcomes, tislelizumab and pembrolizumab have a higher risk in the incidence of grade 3 or higher AEs (RRtis+chemo/chemo 1.12, 95% CI 1.03-1.21; RRpem+chemo/chemo 1.13, 95% CI 1.03-1.24). The indirect comparison showed that there was no significant difference between tislelizumab plus chemotherapy and pembrolizumab plus chemotherapy in terms of PFS (HR: 1.04, 95% CI 0.82-1.31), ORR (RR: 0.79, 95% CI 0.59-1.07), the incidence of grade 3 or higher AEs (RR 0.99, 95% CI 0.87-1.12), and AEs leading to death (RR 0.70, 95% CI 0.23-2.09). In progression-free survival subgroup analysis, the results demonstrate no significant differences in PFS by PD-L1 TPS expression level, age, liver metastasis status, and smoking status between tislelizumab plus chemotherapy and pembrolizumab plus chemotherapy. Conclusion: The efficacy and safety of tislelizumab combination chemotherapy were not substantially different from pembrolizumab combination chemotherapy.

OBJECTIVE: Bone Marrow Lesions (BMLs) are areas in bone with high fluid signal on MRI associated with painful and progressive OA. While cartilage near BMLs in the knee has been shown to be degenerated, this relationship has not been investigated in the hip. RESEARCH QUESTION: is T1Gd lower in areas of cartilage overlying BMLs in the hip? DESIGN: 128 participants were recruited from a population-based study of hip pain in 20-49-year-olds. Proton-density weighted fat-suppressed and delayed Gadolinium Enhanced MR Imaging of Cartilage (dGEMRIC) images were acquired to locate BMLs and quantify hip cartilage health. BML and cartilage images were registered and cartilage was separated into BML overlying and surrounding regions. Mean T1Gd was measured in 32 participants with BMLs in both cartilage regions and in matched regions in 32 age- and sex-matched controls. Mean T1Gd in the overlying cartilage was compared using linear mixed-effects models between BML and control groups for acetabular and femoral BMLs, and between cystic and non-cystic BML groups. RESULTS: Mean T1Gd of overlying cartilage was lower in the BML group compared to the control group (acetabular: -105 ms; 95% CI: -175, -35; femoral: -8 ms; 95% CI: -141, 124). Mean T1Gd in overlying cartilage was lower in cystic compared to non-cystic BML subjects, but the confidence interval is too large to provide certainty in this difference (-3 [95% CI: -126, 121]). CONCLUSIONS: T1Gd is reduced in overlying cartilage in hips from a population-based sample of adults aged 20-49, which suggests BMLs are associated with local cartilage degeneration in hips.

Ferroelectricity, one of the keys to realize non-volatile memories owing to the remanent electric polarization, is an emerging phenomenon in the 2D limit. Yet the demonstrations of van der Waals (vdW) memories using 2D ferroelectric materials as an ingredient are very limited. Especially, gate-tunable ferroelectric vdW memristive device, which holds promises in future multi-bit data storage applications, remains challenging. Here, a gate-programmable multi-state memory is shown by vertically assembling graphite, CuInP2 S6 , and MoS2 layers into a metal(M)-ferroelectric(FE)-semiconductor(S) architecture. The resulted devices seamlessly integrate the functionality of both FE-memristor (with ON-OFF ratios exceeding 105 and long-term retention) and metal-oxide-semiconductor field effect transistor (MOS-FET). Thus, it yields a prototype of gate tunable giant electroresistance with multi-levelled ON-states in the FE-memristor in the vertical vdW assembly. First-principles calculations further reveal that such behaviors originate from the specific band alignment between the FE-S interface. Our findings pave the way for the engineering of ferroelectricity-mediated memories in future implementations of 2D nanoelectronics.

Despite being distinct lesions, gastrointestinal stromal tumours (GISTs) and desmoid fibromatosis may appear similar on imaging when they involve the stomach wall or bowel. As a result, they may be confused with one another when initially diagnosed. This report aims to present a case where a desmoid tumour was mistaken for a gastric GIST in a 27-year-old gentleman despite extensive investigation prior to exploratory laparotomy, and why differentiation through pathology, with a focus on the immunohistochemistry profile, is key for proper prognostication and appropriate management, including timely investigation for associated diseases such as Familial Adenomatous Polyposis in patients with desmoid tumours.

ABSTRACT: Natural killer/T-cell lymphoma (NK/TL) is a chemotherapy-sensitive disease, and asparaginase-based chemotherapy has become the standard primary treatment for patients with this malignancy recently. The objective of this study was to evaluate the adverse reactions on blood coagulation of the administered pegylated Escherichia coli (E coli) asparaginase (PEG-ASP) to the NK/TL patients. Clinical data of 71 NK/TL patients (range 13-73 years), who received 239 cycles of chemotherapy treatment containing PEG-ASP in the Hematology Department of Shanxi Province Cancer Hospital of China from January 2016 to December 2019 were analyzed retrospectively. Data of prothrombin time (PT), activated partial thromboplastin time (APTT), fibrinogen (FBG), and antithrombinIII (ATIII) were obtained at the time points routinely and statistically analyzed. There were statistical differences between the monitored parameters of baseline day0 (the day before use of PEG-ASP, named day0) and those of day3 (the 3rd day after treatment) to day6, and data showed all of the indicators could recover within 21 days. The events included PT prolonged in 33 patients (46.5%), APPT prolonged in 41 patients (57.7%, 20 patients with APTT >60 seconds), FBG decreased in 49 patients (69.0%, 12 patients with FBG <1 g/L), and ATIII decreased in 52 patients (73.2%). The patients' average number of cycles received was 2.3 for PT (>14 seconds), 2.5 for APTT (>35 seconds), 2.7 for FBG (<2 g/L), and 2.6 for D-dimer (>550 ng/mL). Compared with those at day0, PT and APTT prolonged sharply at day3 (P < .05), reached the peak at day12, maintained the prolonged level from day3 to day15, and gradually recovered at day 21. FBG and ATIII significantly decreased at day6 and day3 respectively (P < .05), both of them fell to the minimum at day12, and then returned the normal. The D-dimer levels were no significantly change during the whole treatment course. The APTT >60 seconds or FBG <1 g/L side effects were improved by symptomatic treatment of supplementation of fresh frozen plasma or cryoprecipitate infusion, no concomitant bleeding or thrombotic events emerging. Our data suggested although chemotherapy including PEG-ASP impacted moderately on the coagulation function of NK/TL patients, clinically monitored regularly were necessary and most NK/TL patients can complete the chemotherapy cycles successfully.

OBJECTIVE: Bone marrow lesions (BMLs) are associated with painful and progressive osteoarthritis (OA). Quantitative magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) has been used to study early cartilage degeneration in knees with BML, but similar work has not been done in hips. The purpose of this study was to compare mean delayed gadolinium-enhanced MRI of cartilage (dGEMRIC) relaxation values (T1Gd) in hips with BML to hips without BML in a population-based study. Reduced T1Gd suggests depleted glycosaminoglycan. Our hypothesis was that mean T1Gd is lower in hips with BML compared to hips without BML. METHODS: Study participants (n = 128) were recruited from a cross-sectional population-based study of people ages 20-49 years with and without hip pain. dGEMRIC and proton density (PD)-weighted MRI scans of 1 hip from each participant were used for this analysis. BMLs were identified from PD-weighted fat-suppressed images. We applied a sampling-weighted linear regression model to determine the association of the presence of BMLs with mean cartilage T1Gd (significance: P < 0.05). The model was adjusted for age, sex, body mass index (BMI), hip pain, cam/pincer deformity, and physical activity. RESULTS: Thirty-two (25%) of the 128 participants had at least 1 BML. Subjects with at least 1 BML, compared to those without, had similar weighted characteristics of age, BMI, physical activity levels, and frequency of hip pain. Mean T1Gd was 75.25 msec lower (95% confidence interval -149.69, -0.81; P = 0.048) (9%) in the BML compared to the no-BML group. CONCLUSION: Our results suggest that hips with BMLs are associated with hip cartilage degeneration early in the OA disease process.

PURPOSE: Taxanes are widely used in gynecological cancer therapy, however, taxane-induced peripheral neuropathy (TIPN) limits chemotherapy dose and reduces patients' quality of life. As a safe and convenient intervention, cryotherapy has been recommended as a promising intervention in the recent clinical guidelines for the prevention of TIPN. Although there are a considerable number of studies which explored the use of cryotherapy in preventing chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy (CIPN), there is insufficient large-scale clinical evidence. We performed a meta-analysis on the current available evidence to examine whether cryotherapy can prevent TIPN in cancer patients receiving taxanes. METHODS: We searched databases including PubMed, Embase, and Cochrane from inception to August 3, 2021 for eligible trials. Clinical trials that examined the efficacy of cryotherapy for prevention of TIPN were included. The primary outcome was the incidence of TIPN, and secondary outcomes were incidence of taxane dose reduction and changes in nerve conduction studies. The meta-analysis software (RevMan 5.3) was used to analyze the data. RESULTS: We analyzed 2250 patients from 9 trials. Assessments using the Common Terminology Criteria for Adverse Events (CTCAE) score showed that cryotherapy could significantly reduce the incidence of motor and sensory neuropathy of grade≥2 (sensory: RR 0.65, 95%CI 0.56 to 0.75, p<0.00001; motor: RR 0.18, 95% CI [0.03, 0.94], p=0.04). When evaluated using the Patient Neuropathy Questionnaire (PNQ), cryotherapy demonstrated significant reduction in the incidence of sensory neuropathy (RR 0.11, 95% CI 0.04 to 0.31], p<0.0001), but did not show significant reduction in the incidence of motor neuropathy (RR 0.46, 95% CI 0.11 to 1.88, p=0.28). Cryotherapy was associated with reduced incidences of taxane dose reduction due to TIPN (RR 0.48, 95% CI [0.24, 0.95], p=0.04) and had potential to preserve motor nerves. CONCLUSIONS: Cryotherapy is likely to prevent TIPN in patients receiving taxanes. High quality and sufficient amount of evidence is warranted.

Shikonin is one of the primary active components extracted from the dried root ofZicao (Lithospermum erythrorhizon, Onosma paniculata, or Arnebia euchroma), a traditional Chinese herbal medicine. Shikonin is known to not only exert anti-proliferative, anti-inflammatory, and anti-angiogenic activities, but also play a crucial role in triggering the production of reactive oxygen species, suppressing the release of exosomes, and inducing apoptosis. Increasing evidence suggests that shikonin has a protective effect against skin diseases, including psoriasis, melanoma, and hypertrophic scars. In order to evaluate the application potential of shikonin in the treatment of skin diseases, this review is the first of its kind to provide comprehensive and up-to-date information regarding the uses of shikonin and its derivatives on skin diseases and its underlying mechanisms. In this review, we have focused on the signaling pathways and cellular targets involved in the anti-dermatosis effects of shikonin to bridge the gaps in the literature, thereby providing scientific support for the research and development of new drugs from a traditional medicinal plant.

Fully transparent inverted quantum dot light-emitting diodes (QLEDs) were fabricated by incorporating a Ag-nanowire-based anode. Aluminum-doped zinc oxide (ZnO:Al, AZO) was inserted by atomic layer deposition and reduced the sheet resistance by promoting adhesion of Ag nanowires (AgNWs) film and increasing its chemical stability towards oxygen. The performance of the QLEDs was optimal when the thickness of AZO was 20 nm. The current efficiency of the fully transparent inverted QLEDs integrated with the AgNWs/AZO anode reached 15.33 cd A-1. The main peak wavelength and optical transmittance of the inverted QLEDs were 530 nm and 75.66%, respectively. This discovery is expected to provide a basic method for the production of flexible displays with full transparency by AgNWs-based electrodes.

OBJECTIVE: To assess the association of femoroacetabular impingement (FAI) and delayed gadolinium-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging of cartilage (dGEMRIC) T1 relaxation values (RVs), and to evaluate whether subtypes of FAI (cam, pincer, and mixed) are associated with region-specific dGEMRIC T1 RVs. METHODS: A population-based sample of white subjects with and without hip pain, ages 20-49 years, was selected through random-digit dialing. A sample of 128 subjects underwent hip-joint 3T dGEMRIC scans. Radiographic cam FAI was defined as an alpha angle >55°, while pincer FAI was defined by a lateral center edge angle >40°, or a positive cross-over sign. Mixed impingement was defined by the presence of both cam and pincer impingement. Overall and region-specific T1 RVs were compared between all FAI subtypes, using weighted linear regression analysis to account for sampling design of the study. RESULTS: Subjects had a mean age of 38 years and 51% were female. We did not find an association of FAI with overall hip T1 RV (mean difference -15.5 [95% confidence interval -77.23, 47.14]). Significant associations of cartilage degeneration in anterior superior and central superior regions were found in subjects with mixed FAI compared to other FAI subtypes and non-FAI subjects. CONCLUSION: Subjects with mixed FAI had reduced T1 RVs compared to other FAI subtypes. No substantial cartilage degeneration was found in pure cam or pincer FAI compared to no-FAI hips. These results indicate that the presence of cam or pincer impingements alone does not suggest the beginning of cartilage degeneration. In contrast, the presence of both FAI subtypes is a risk factor for early cartilage damage.

OBJECTIVES: To study the effects of several survey features on response rates in a general population health survey. METHODS: In 2012 and 2013, 8000 households in British Columbia, Canada, were randomly allocated to 1 of 7 survey variants, each containing a different combination of survey features. Features compared included administration modes (paper vs online), prepaid incentive ($2 coin vs none), lottery incentive (instant vs end-of-study), questionnaire length (10 minutes vs 30 minutes), and sampling frame (InfoCanada vs Canada Post). RESULTS: The overall response rate across the 7 groups was 27.9% (range = 17.1-43.4). All survey features except the sampling frame were associated with statistically significant differences in response rates. The survey mode elicited the largest effect on the odds of response (odds ratio [OR] = 2.04; 95% confidence interval [CI] = 1.61, 2.59), whereas the sampling frame showed the least effect (OR = 1.14; 95% CI = 0.98, 1.34). The highest response was achieved by mailing a short paper survey with a prepaid incentive. CONCLUSIONS: In a mailed general population health survey in Canada, a 40% to 50% response rate can be expected. Questionnaire administration mode, survey length, and type of incentive affect response rates.

Dietary flavonoids show beneficial effects in the prevention of chronic diseases. However, flavonoid bioavailability is poor, probably due to their interaction with serum albumins. In the current work, the binding interactions of eight related flavonoids, sharing a similar core structure, with bovine serum albumin (BSA) were investigated by fluorescence spectroscopy. The binding affinities of the flavonoids with BSA were in the order hesperetin (KA=5.59 × 10(5))> quercetin (4.94 × 10(5)) > naringenin (3.04 × 10(5)) > isoquercitrin (4.66 × 10(4)) > icariin (3.60 × 10(4)) > rutin (1.65 × 10(4)) > hesperidin (2.50 × 10(3)) > naringin (8.70 × 10(2)). The associations of specific structural components of the flavonoids with their binding properties to BSA were also explored and hydrophobicity, functional group substituents, steric hindrance effects and the spatial arrangements of substituents seem to be the key factors for the affinities of flavonoids towards BSA. The results from the current work contribute to a better understanding of the transport of flavonoids in plasma and helping predict their physiological functions based on their intrinsic structures.
