RESUMO

Moiré superlattices have become a fertile playground for topological Chern insulators, where the displacement field can tune the quantum geometry and Chern number of the topological band. However, in experiments, displacement field engineering of spontaneous symmetry-breaking Chern bands has not been demonstrated. Here in a rhombohedral trilayer graphene moiré superlattice, we use a thermodynamic probe and transport measurement to monitor the Chern number evolution as a function of the displacement field. At a quarter filling of the moiré band, a novel Chern number of three is unveiled to compete with the well-established number of two upon turning on the electric field and survives when the displacement field is sufficiently strong. The transition can be reconciled by a nematic instability on the Fermi surface due to the pseudomagnetic vector field potentials associated with moiré strain patterns. Our work opens more opportunities to active control of Chern numbers in van der Waals moiré systems.

Mycotoxins and pesticides frequently coexist in agricultural commodities on a global scale. The potential transgenerational consequences induced by these substances pose a significant threat to human health. However, there is a lack of data concerning the effects of co-contamination by these chemicals in the F1 generation following parental exposure. This investigation delved into the mixture effects of T-2 toxin (T-2) and epoxiconazole (EPO) on the offspring of zebrafish (Danio rerio). The findings revealed that exposure across generations to a combination of T-2 and EPO resulted in toxicity in the larvae of the F1 generation. This was demonstrated by a significant increase in the levels or activities of malondialdehyde (MDA), thyroxine (T4), Caspase3, and cas9, along with a decrease in the levels of cyp19a, ERα, and ERß. These outcomes suggested that cross-generational exposure to T-2 and EPO in D. rerio disrupted oxidative balance, induced cell apoptosis, and affected the endocrine system. Moreover, these effects were magnified when the F1 generation was continuously exposed to these compounds. Notably, these adverse effects could persist in subsequent generations without additional exposure. This study underscored the potential dangers associated with the simultaneous presence of T-2 and EPO on the development of fish offspring and the resulting environmental hazards to aquatic ecosystems. These findings emphasized the significant health risks posed by cross-generational exposure and highlighted the need for additional legislative measures to address these concerns.

OBJECTIVE: Epstein-Barr virus (EBV)-associated gastric cancer (EBVaGC) is a distinct molecular subtype of gastric cancer (GC). At present, the clinical characteristics and prognostic implications of EBV infection and the potential clinical benefits of immune checkpoint blockade in GC remain to be clarified. Hence, this study was designed to analyze the clinical and pathological characteristics of GC patients with varying EBV infection states and compare their overall survival (OS). METHODS: A retrospective study was performed on 1031 consecutive GC patients who underwent gastrectomy at the Affiliated Hospital of Xuzhou Medical University from February 2018 to November 2022. EBV-encoded RNA (EBER) in situ hybridization (ISH) was used for EBV assessment, and immunohistochemical staining was used for evaluation of human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2), programmed death ligand 1 (PD-L1), and Ki67 expression. EBVaGC was defined as tumors with EBV positivity. In addition, EBV-negative GC (EBVnGC) patients were matched with EBVaGC patients based on seven clinicopathological parameters (age, gender, anatomic subsite, tumor size, Lauren classification, degree of differentiation, and tumor-node-metastasis [TNM] stage). The correlations of clinical features with HER2, PD-L1, and Ki67 expression were evaluated statistically. The survival of patients was assessed through medical records, telephone, or WeChat communication, and prognostic analysis was performed using the logrank test as well as univariable and multivariable regression analysis. RESULTS: Out of 1031 GC patients tested, 35 (3.4%) were diagnosed with EBVaGC. Notably, the EBVaGC group exhibited a distinct predominance of males and younger patients, significantly higher Ki67 and PD-L1 expression levels, and a lower prevalence of pericancerous nerve invasion than the EBVnGC group (P < 0.01). In the 35 EBVaGC cases, Ki67 expression was negatively correlated with age (P < 0.05), suggesting that a younger onset age was associated with higher Ki67 expression. In addition, PD-L1 expression was correlated with the degree of differentiation, T-stage, and clinical stage of the patient. Furthermore, PD-L1 expression was elevated in tumors with lower differentiation or at later stages (P < 0.05). Using univariate analysis, Ki67, PD-L1, and clinical stage were identified as significant factors influencing the overall survival (OS) of EBVaGC patients (P < 0.05). Moreover, multivariate survival analysis revealed that clinical stage and Ki67 expression were independent risk factors for the OS of the patients (P < 0.05), and the three-year OS rate of EBVaGC patients was 64.2%. CONCLUSION: EBV-ISH is a practical and valuable method to identify EBVaGC. Owing to its unique etiological, pathological, and clinical characteristics, patients with EBVaGC might benefit from immune checkpoint blockade therapy.

The poor hydrostability of most reported metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) has become a daunting challenge in their practical applications. Recently, MOFs combined with multifunctional polymers can act as a functional platform and exhibit unique catalytic performance; they can not only inherit the outstanding properties of the two components but also offer unique synergistic effects. Herein, an original porous polymer-confined strategy has been developed to prepare a superhydrophobic MOF composite to significantly enhance its moisture or water resistance. The selective nucleation and growth of MOF nanocrystals confined in the pore of PDVB-vim are closely related to the structure-directing and coordination-modulating properties of PDVB-vim. The resultant MOF/PDVB-vim composite not only produces superior superhydrophobicity without significantly disturbing the original features but also exhibits a novel catalytic activity in the Friedel-Crafts alkylation reaction of indoles with trans-ß-nitrostyrene because of the accessible sites and synergistic effects.

Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer deaths worldwide. Non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) accounts for 80-85% of all lung cancers. Euphorbia kansui yielded 13-oxyingenol-dodecanoate (13OD), an ingenane-type diterpenoid, which had a strong cytotoxic effect on NSCLC cells. The underlying mechanism and potential target, however, remained unknown. The study found that 13OD effectively inhibited the cell proliferation and colony formation of NSCLC cells (A549 and H460 cells), with less toxicity in normal human lung epithelial BEAS-2B cells. Moreover, 13OD can cause mitochondrial dysfunction, and apoptosis in NSCLC cells. Mechanistically, the transcriptomics results showed that differential genes were mainly enriched in the mTOR and AMPK signaling pathways, which are closely related to cellular autophagy, the related indicators were subsequently validated. Additionally, bafilomycin A1 (Baf A1), an autophagy inhibitor, reversed the mitochondrial damage caused by 13OD. Furthermore, the Omics and Text-based Target Enrichment and Ranking (OTTER) method predicted ULK1 as a potential target of 13OD against NSCLC cells. This hypothesis was further confirmed using molecular docking, the cellular thermal shift assay (CETSA), and Western blot analysis. Remarkably, ULK1 siRNA inhibited 13OD's toxic activity in NSCLC cells. In line with these findings, 13OD was potent and non-toxic in the tumor xenograft model. Our findings suggested a possible mechanism for 13OD's role as a tumor suppressor and laid the groundwork for identifying targets for ingenane-type diterpenoids.

The perturbation of atmosphere turbulence is a significant challenge in orbital angular momentum shift keying-based free space optical communication (OAM-SK-FSO). In this study, we propose an adaptive optical demodulation system based on deep learning techniques. A conditional convolutional GAN (ccGAN) network is applied to recover the distorted intensity pattern and assign it to its specified class. Compared to existing methods based on convolutional neural networks (CNNs), our network demonstrates powerful capability in recovering the distorted light beam, resulting in a higher recognition accuracy rate under the same conditions. The average recognition accuracy rates are 0.9928, 0.9795 and 0.9490 when the atmospheric refractive index structure constant $C_n^2$ is set at 3 × 10-13, 4.45 × 10-13, 6 × 10-13m-2/3, respectively. The ccGAN network provides a promising potential tool for free space optical communication.

Herein, three In(III)-based metal-organic frameworks (In-MOFs) with different degrees of interpenetration (DOI), namely In-MOF-1, In-MOF-2, and In-MOF-3, constructed by In3+ and Y-shaped ligands 4,4',4″-s-triazine-2,4,6-triyltribenzoate (H3TATB), are successfully synthesized through the ionothermal/solvothermal method. Subsequently, three novel In-MOFs, including noninterpenetration polycatenation, 2-fold interpenetrated, and 4-fold interpenetrated structure, are employed as the platform for systematically investigating the separation efficiency of CO2/N2, CO2/CH4, and CO2/CH4/N2 mixture gas system. Among them, In-MOF-2 shows the highest CO2 uptake capacities at 298 K and simultaneously possesses the low adsorption enthalpy of CO2 (26.4 kJ/mol at low coverage), a feature desirable for low-energy-cost adsorbent regeneration. The CO2/N2 (v: v = 15/85) selectivity of In-MOF-2 reaches 37.6 (at 298 K and 1 bar), also revealing outstanding selective separation ability from flue gases and purifying natural gas, affording a unique robust separation material as it has moderate DOI and pore size. In-MOF-2 shows exceptional stability and feasibility to achieve reproducibility. Aperture adjustment makes In-MOF-2 a versatile platform for selectively capturing CO2 from flue gases or purifying natural gas.

Advanced hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is a severe malignancy that poses a serious threat to human health. Owing to challenges in early diagnosis, most patients lose the opportunity for radical treatment when diagnosed. Nonetheless, recent advancements in cancer immunotherapy provide new directions for the treatment of HCC. For instance, monoclonal antibodies against immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) such as programmed cell death protein 1/death ligand-1 inhibitors and cytotoxic t-lymphocyte associated antigen-4 significantly improved the prognosis of patients with HCC. However, tumor cells can evade the immune system through various mechanisms. With the rapid development of genetic engineering and molecular biology, various new immunotherapies have been used to treat HCC, including ICIs, chimeric antigen receptor T cells, engineered cytokines, and certain cancer vaccines. This review summarizes the current status, research progress, and future directions of different immunotherapy strategies in the treatment of HCC.

A substantial ferroelectric polarization is the key for designing high-performance ferroelectric nonvolatile memories. As a promising candidate system, the BaTiO3/La0.67Sr0.33MnO3 (BTO/LSMO) ferroelectric/ferromagnetic heterostructure has attracted a lot of attention thanks to the merits of high Curie temperature, large spin polarization, and low ferroelectric coercivity. Nevertheless, the BTO/LSMO heterostructure suffers from a moderate FE polarization, primarily due to the quick film-thickness-driven strain relaxation. In response to this challenge, we propose an approach for enhancing the FE properties of BTO films by using a Sr3Al2O6 (SAO) buffering layer to mitigate the interfacial strain relaxation. The continuously tunable strain allows us to illustrate the linear dependence of polarization on epitaxial strain with a large strain-sensitive coefficient of ∼27 µC/cm2 per percent strain. This results in a giant polarization of ∼80 µC/cm2 on the BTO/LSMO interface. Leveraging this large polarization, we achieved a giant tunneling electroresistance (TER) of ∼105 in SAO-buffered Pt/BTO/LSMO ferroelectric tunnel junctions (FTJs). Our research uncovers the fundamental interplay between strain, polarization magnitude, and device performance, such as on/off ratio, thereby advancing the potential of FTJs for next-generation information storage applications.

OBJECTIVE: Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is listed by the World Health Organization as one of the modern intractable diseases. High mobility histone box 1 (HMGB1), originally described as a non-histone nucleoprotein involved in transcriptional regulation, was later identified as a pro-inflammatory cytokine that may contribute to the pathogenesis of inflammatory diseases such as IBD. Neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs) play an important role in the pathophysiology of IBD The aim of this study was to investigate the role of HMGB1 in experimental colitis mice and its potential mechanisms of action. METHODS: We first constructed the experimental colitis mouse model. Intervention of mice by rhHMGB1 supplementation or HMGB1 inhibition. The pathological morphology of the colon was observed using HE staining. Apoptosis of colonic tissue intestinal epithelial cells was evaluated using Tunel assay. The expression of HMGB1, ZO-1 and occludin in colon tissue was detected by immunohistochemistry, ELISA and western-blot. We also assessed the effects of HMGB1 on colonic injury, NETs content, macrophage polarization and inflammatory cells in mice. The regulatory effect of HMGB1 inhibition on NETs was assessed by combining DNase I. RESULTS: Inhibition of HMGB1 significantly reduced the inflammatory model in experimental colitis mice, as evidenced by reduced body weight, increased colonic length, reduced DAI scores and apoptosis, reduced inflammatory response, and improved colonic histopathological morphology and intestinal mucosal barrier function. Meanwhile, inhibition of HMGB1 was able to reduce the expression of CD86, citH3 and MPO and increase the expression of CD206 in the colonic tissue of mice. In addition, DNase I intervention was also able to improve colonic inflammation in mice. And the best effect was observed when DNase I and inhibition of HMGB1 were intervened together. CONCLUSION: Inhibition of HMGB1 ameliorates IBD by mediating NETs and macrophage polarization.

Iron metabolism disorders are implicated in the pathogenesis of Alzheimer's disease (AD). It was previously reported that transferrin receptor (TFR1) expression was upregulated in AD mouse model. However, the precise biological functions of TFR1 in AD progression remains unclear. Herein, we observed a gradual increase in TFR1 protein expression during the differentiation of AD patient-derived induced pluripotent stem cells (AD-iPS). TFR1 knockdown inhibited the protein expression of ferritin and ferritin heavy chain 1 (FTH1), enhanced the expression of ferroportin 1 (FPN1), and decreased intracellular levels of total iron, labile iron, and reactive oxygen species (ROS). Moreover, TFR1 knockdown improved mitochondrial membrane potential (MMP), increased adenosine triphosphate (ATP) content, downregulated mitochondrial fission proteins, and upregulated mitochondrial fusion proteins. TFR1 knockdown alleviated iron overload and mitochondrial dysfunction in neural cells differentiated from AD-iPS, while TFR1 overexpression showed the opposite results. Additionally, TFR1interacted with glycogen synthase kinase 3 beta (GSK3B) and promoted GSK3B expression. GSK3B overexpression reversed the inhibitory effects of TFR1 knockdown on iron overload and mitochondrial dysfunction in AD-iPS differentiated neural cells. In conclusion, TFR1 knockdown alleviated iron overload and mitochondrial dysfunction in neural cells differentiated from AD-iPS by promoting GSK3B expression. Our findings provide a potential therapeutic target for the treatment of AD.

BACKGROUND: Occult breast cancer (OBC) has traditionally been considered to be a carcinoma of unknown primary origin with a favorable prognosis and can be treated as stage II-III breast cancer. Due to the small number of cases and limited clinical ex-perience, treatments vary greatly around the world and no standardized treat-ment has yet been established. AIM: To investigate the clinicopathological features, psychological status and prog-nostic features of patients with OBC. METHODS: The clinicopathological data of 33 OBC patients diagnosed and treated in the Affiliated Hospital of Xuzhou Medical University and Xuzhou Central Hospital from November 2015 to November 2022 were retrospectively analyzed. The psychological status of OBC patients was evaluated by the Self-rating Anxiety Scale and Self-rating Depression Scale. Patients' emotions, stress perception and psychological resilience were evaluated by the Positive and Negative Affect Schedule, the Chinese Perceived Stress Scale, and the Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale (CD-RISC), respectively. Patient survival was calculated using the Kaplan-Meier method, and survival curves were plotted for analysis with the log-rank test. Univariate and multivariate survival analyses were performed using the Cox regression model. RESULTS: The 33 OBC patients included 32 females and 1 male. Of the 33 patients, 30 (91%) had axillary tumors, 3 (9%) had a neck mass as the primary symptom; 18 (54.5%) had estrogen receptor-positive tumors, 17 (51.5%) had progesterone receptor-positive tumors, and 18 (54.5%) had Her-2-positive tumors; 24 (72.7%) received surgical treatment, including 18 patients who underwent modified radical mastectomy, 1 patient who underwent breast-conserving surgery plus axillary lymph node dissection (ALND), and 5 patients who underwent ALND alone; 12 patients received preoperative neoadjuvant therapy. All 30 patients developed anxiety and depression, with low positive affect scores and high negative affect scores, accompanied by a high stress level and poor psychological resilience. There were no differences in the psychological status of patients according to age, body mass index, or menopausal status. The overall survival and disease-free survival (DFS) of all the patients were 83.3% and 55.7%, respectively. Univariate analysis demonstrated that the initial tumor site (P = 0.021) and node stage (P = 0.020) were factors that may affect patient prognosis. The 5-year DFS rate of OBC patients who received radiotherapy was greater (P < 0.001), while the use of different surgical methods (P = 0.687) had no statistically significant effect on patient outcomes. Multivariate analysis revealed that radiotherapy (P = 0.031) was an independent prognostic factor. Receiving radiotherapy had a significant effect on the CD-RISC score (P = 0.02). CONCLUSION: OBC is a rare breast disease whose diagnosis and treatment are currently controversial. There was no significant difference in the efficacy of other less invasive surgical procedures compared to those of modified radical mastectomy. In addition, radiotherapy can significantly improve patient outcomes. We should pay attention to the psychological state of patients while they receive antitumor therapy.

Successful in situ chemical oxidation (ISCO) applications require real-time monitoring to assess the oxidant delivery and treatment effectiveness, and to support rapid and cost-effective decision making. Existing monitoring methods often suffer from poor spatial coverage given a limited number of boreholes in most field conditions. The ionic nature of oxidants (e.g., permanganate) makes time-lapse electrical resistivity tomography (ERT) a potential monitoring tool for ISCO. However, time-lapse ERT is usually limited to qualitative analysis because it cannot distinguish between the electrical responses of the ionic oxidant and the ionic products from contaminant oxidation. This study proposed a real-time quantitative monitoring approach for ISCO by integrating time-lapse ERT and physics-based reactive transport models (RTM). Moving past common practice, where an electrical-conductivity anomaly in an ERT survey would be roughly linked to concentrations of anything ionic, we used PHT3D as our RTM to distinguish the contributions from the ionic oxidant and the ionic products and to quantify the spatio-temporal evolution of all chemical components. The proposed approach was evaluated through laboratory column experiments for trichloroethene (TCE) remediation. This ISCO experiment was monitored by both time-lapse ERT and downstream sampling. We found that changes in inverted bulk electrical conductivity, unsurprisingly, did not correlate well with the observed permanganate concentrations due to the ionic products. By integrating time-lapse ERT and RTM, the distribution of all chemical components was satisfactorily characterized and quantified. Measured concentration data from limited locations and the non-intrusive ERT data were found to be complementary for ISCO monitoring. The inverted bulk conductivity data were effective in capturing the spatial distribution of ionic species, while the concentration data provided information regarding dissolved TCE. Through incorporating multi-source data, the error of quantifying ISCO efficiency was kept at most 5 %, compared to errors that can reach up to 68 % when relying solely on concentration data.

OBJECTIVE: Keratin 15 (KRT15) is identified as a useful biomarker in several solid tumors, while its clinical role in papillary thyroid cancer (PTC) remains unknown. Herein, this study is intended to explore the correlation of tumor KRT15 with clinical features and survival in PTC patients who received tumor resection. METHODS: This study retrospectively screened 350 PTC patients who received tumor resection and 50 thyroid benign lesions (TBL) patients. KRT15 in formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded lesion specimens of all subjects was detected by immunohistochemistry (IHC). RESULTS: KRT15 was reduced in PTC patients compared to TBL patients (P < 0.001). Furthermore, KRT15 was negatively associated with tumor size (P = 0.017), extrathyroidal invasion (P = 0.007), pathological tumor (pT) stage (P < 0.001), and postoperative radioiodine application (P = 0.008) in PTC patients. Regarding prognostic value, high KRT15 (cut-off by an IHC value of 3) is linked with prolonged accumulating disease-free survival (DFS) (P = 0.008) and overall survival (OS) (P = 0.008) in PTC patients. Also, the multivariate Cox regression model showed that high KRT15 (vs. low) was an independent factor for longer DFS (hazard ratio = 0.433, P = 0.049), but not for OS (P > 0.050) in PTC patients. Subgroup analyses revealed that KRT15 possessed a better prognostic value in PTC patients with age ≥ 55 years, tumor size > 4 cm, pathological node stage 1, or pathological tumor-node-metastasis stage ≤ 2 (all P < 0.050). CONCLUSION: Increased tumor KRT15 associates with a lower invasive degree, prolonged DFS, and OS, revealing its prognostic utility in PTC patients undergoing tumor resection.

Chromatin in eukaryotes folds into a complex three-dimensional (3D) structure that is essential for controlling gene expression and cellular function and is dynamically regulated in biological processes. Studies on plant phosphorus signaling have concentrated on single genes and gene interactions. It is critical to expand the existing signaling pathway in terms of its 3D structure. In this study, low-Pi treatment led to greater chromatin volume. Furthermore, low-Pi stress increased the insulation score and the number of TAD-like domains, but the effects on the A/B compartment were not obvious. The methylation levels of target sites (hereafter as RdDM levels) peaked at specific TAD-like boundaries, whereas RdDM peak levels at conserved TAD-like boundaries shifted and decreased sharply. The distribution pattern of RdDM sites originating from the Helitron transposons matched that of genome-wide RdDM sites near TAD-like boundaries. RdDM pathway genes were upregulated in the middle or early stages and downregulated in the later stages under low-Pi conditions. The RdDM pathway mutant ddm1a showed increased tolerance to low-Pi stress, with shortened and thickened roots contributing to higher Pi uptake from the shallow soil layer. ChIP-seq results revealed that ZmDDM1A could bind to Pi- and root development-related genes. Strong associations were found between interacting genes in significantly different chromatin-interaction regions and root traits. These findings not only expand the mechanisms by which plants respond to low-Pi stress through the RdDM pathway but also offer a crucial framework for the analysis of biological issues using 3D genomics.

Electrocatalytic acetylene semi-hydrogenation to ethylene powered by renewable electricity represents a sustainable pathway, but the inadequate current density and single-pass yield greatly impedes the production efficiency and industrial application. Herein, we develop a F-modified Cu catalyst that shows an industrial partial current density up to 0.76 A cm-2 with an ethylene Faradic efficiency surpass 90%, and the maximum single-pass yield reaches a notable 78.5%. Furthermore, the Cu-F showcase the capability to directly convert acetylene into polymer-grade ethylene in a tandem flow cell, almost no acetylene residual in the production. Combined characterizations and calculations reveal that the Cuδ+ (near fluorine) enhances the water dissociation, and the generated active hydrogen are immediately transferred to Cu0 (away from fluorine) and react with the locally adsorbed acetylene. Therefore, the hydrogen evolution reaction is surpassed and the overall acetylene semi-hydrogenation performance is boosted. Our findings provide new opportunity towards rational design of catalysts for large-scale electrosynthesis of ethylene and other important industrial raw.

Bearing capacity degradation of foundations under the impact of the flood is one of the major reasons responsible for the collapse and damage to the rural buildings, posing a serious threat to the local village societies. Based on a case study of a rural building foundation had been destroyed by flooding. This paper investigated the deterioration process of rural building foundations under the combined effect of dynamic scouring and static soaking caused by flooding. Using the two-dimensional shallow water equation, erosion depth was calculated for different flood velocities. Then, the bearing capacity degradation under the combined scouring-soaking effect was analyzed using the finite element method. Finally, investigating the influence of inflow direction and building group masking on the foundation's bearing capacity. The results indicate that under the combined effect, the bearing capacity of village building foundations decreases by 47.88%, with scouring slightly more impactful than soaking. Inflow angle has minimal effect on bearing performance, while the masking effect of the building group provides better protection for the foundation of rear buildings.

Hybridizing superconductivity with the quantum Hall (QH) effect has notable potential for designing circuits capable of inducing and manipulating non-Abelian states for topological quantum computation1-3. However, despite recent experimental progress towards this hybridization4-15, concrete evidence for a chiral QH Josephson junction16-the elemental building block for coherent superconducting QH circuits-is still lacking. Its expected signature is an unusual chiral supercurrent flowing in QH edge channels, which oscillates with a specific 2ϕ0 magnetic flux periodicity16-19 (ϕ0 = h/2e is the superconducting flux quantum, where h is the Planck constant and e is the electron charge). Here we show that ultra-narrow Josephson junctions defined in encapsulated graphene nanoribbons exhibit a chiral supercurrent, visible up to 8 T and carried by the spin-degenerate edge channel of the QH plateau of resistance h/2e2 ≈ 12.9 kΩ. We observe reproducible 2ϕ0-periodic oscillations of the supercurrent, which emerge at a constant filling factor when the area of the loop formed by the QH edge channel is constant, within a magnetic-length correction that we resolve in the data. Furthermore, by varying the junction geometry, we show that reducing the superconductor/normal interface length is crucial in obtaining a measurable supercurrent on QH plateaus, in agreement with theories predicting dephasing along the superconducting interface19-22. Our findings are important for the exploration of correlated and fractional QH-based superconducting devices that host non-Abelian Majorana and parafermion zero modes23-32.

Ustilaginoidea virens is a destructive phytopathogenic fungus that causes false smut disease in rice. In this study, the natural product 2,4-di-tert-butylphenol (2,4-DTBP) was found to be an environmentally friendly and effective agent for the first time, which exhibited strong antifungal activity against U. virens, with an EC50 value of 0.087 mmol/L. The scanning electron microscopy, fluorescence staining, and biochemical assays indicated that 2,4-DTBP could destroy the cell wall, cell membrane, and cellular redox homeostasis of U. virens, ultimately resulting in fungal cell death. Through the transcriptomic analysis, a total of 353 genes were significantly upregulated and 367 genes were significantly downregulated, focusing on the spindle microtubule assembly, cell wall and membrane, redox homeostasis, mycotoxin biosynthesis, and intracellular metabolism. These results enhanced the understanding of the antifungal activity and action mechanisms of 2,4-DTBP against U. virens, supporting it to be a potential antifungal agent for the control of false smut disease.
