RESUMO

Objective: To compare the clinical effects of endoscopic thyroidectomy using a modified gasless transsubclavian approach and the traditional neck approach for unilateral papillary thyroid carcinoma (cN0). Methods: The clinical data of 135 patients with cN0 papillary thyroid carcinoma who underwent unilateral thyroidectomy in the Department of Thyroid Surgery, the First Hospital of Jilin University from October 2020 to November 2022 were retrospectively analyzed. There were 37 males and 98 females, aging (43.2±8.8) years (range: 21 to 59 years). There were 51 cases using the modified gasless transsubclavian approach (TS group) and 84 cases using the traditional neck approach (TN group). Comparative analyses were performed between the operative results of the 2 groups by t-test, Wilcoxon rank sum test, and χ2 test. Results: All endoscopic operations were successfully completed without conversion to the traditional neck approach. Compared to the TN group, the TS group had a longer operation time (M(IQR)) (73.5 (22.5) minutes vs. 90.0 (30.0) minutes, Z=-5.831, P<0.01), more postoperative drainage (60 (25) ml vs. 95 (45) ml, Z=-6.275, P<0.01), higher hospitalization costs (22 687 (3 488) yuan vs. 26 652 (2 431) yuan, Z=-6.944, P<0.01), and a higher rate of parathyroid autotransplantation (15.5% (13/84) vs. 60.8% (31/51), χ2=29.651, P<0.01). There was no significant difference in the total exposure rate of the central compartment, postoperative hospitalization time, the number of dissected lymph nodes, the number of metastatic lymph nodes, C-reactive protein ratio before and after operation, and preoperative and postoperative parathyroid hormone (all P>0.05). Conclusions: Endoscopic thyroidectomy using the modified gasless transsubclavian approach is safe for cN0 papillary thyroid carcinoma, with longer operating time, more postoperative drainage, higher hospitalization costs, and moredifficulty in preserving the inferior parathyroid gland in situ compared to traditional open surgery.

RESUMO

Background@#Feline panleukopenia virus (FPV) is a widespread and highly infectious pathogen in cats with a high mortality rate. Although Yanji has a developed cat breeding industry, the variation of FPV locally is still unclear. @*Objectives@#This study aimed to isolate and investigate the epidemiology of FPV in Yanji between 2021 and 2022. @*Methods@#A strain of FPV was isolated from F81 cells. Cats suspected of FPV infection (n = 80) between 2021 and 2022 from Yanji were enrolled in this study. The capsid protein 2 (VP2) of FPV was amplified. It was cloned into the pMD-19T vector and transformed into a competent Escherichia coli strain. The positive colonies were analyzed via VP2 Sanger sequencing. A phylogenetic analysis based on a VP2 coding sequence was performed to identify the genetic relationships between the strains. @*Results@#An FPV strain named YBYJ-1 was successfully isolated. The virus diameter was approximately 20–24 nm, 50% tissue culture infectious dose = 1 × 10 −4.94 /mL, which caused cytopathic effect in F81 cells. The epidemiological survey from 2021 to 2022 showed that 27 of the 80 samples were FPV-positive. Additionally, three strains positive for CPV-2c were unexpectedly found. Phylogenetic analysis showed that most of the 27 FPV strains belonged to the same group, and no mutations were found in the critical amino acids. @*Conclusions@#A local FPV strain named YBYJ-1 was successfully isolated. There was no critical mutation in FPV in Yanji, but some cases with CPV-2c infected cats were identified.

RESUMO

PURPOSE: To study the anatomical features of the ankle joint in Chinese northeast healthy adults and provide accurate data for the design of the total ankle arthroplasty (TAA) prosthesis. METHODS: Computer tomography (CT) images from 156 healthy subjects, 86 males and 70 females, were collected and reconstructed through Mimics software. The 3D morphology of the distal tibia/fibula section and the whole talar was analyzed by measuring 28 parameters including maximal tibial thickness (MTiTh), anterior-posterior inclination angle, trochlea tali width (TaW), distal tibial width (TiW) and trochlea tali arc chode length (TaAL) and calculating MTiTh/TiW, TaAL/TaW. Gender difference and accuracy of CT images were evaluated. The measurements were compared with previously reported data from Caucasian subjects and Asian subjects. Statistical analysis was conducted by independent-samples t test through SPSS software. RESULTS: (1) Twenty two out of the 28 parameters were found significantly different between males and females. Most of the parameters in males were found larger than that in females (p < 0.05). (2) The difference was found larger in comparison with the Caucasian subject groups than that with Asian subject groups. (3) All the selected 11 parameters measured by CT images were found to be smaller than those by X-ray images (p < 0.05). CONCLUSION: The morphological parameters were found different between the Caucasian and Chinese northeast populations. Precise data of the ankle joint morphology were provided for the design and clinical application of TAA in the Chinese population.
