RESUMO

The study examines blood reflux into cartridges under infiltration anesthesia. When imitation examination was carried out using Pontamine blue dye solution in 7 kinds of syringes using cartridges, dye reflux was observed in all of them. Dye reflux was observed in all but 1 of 4 kinds of cartridges on the market. The amounts of protein in residual anesthetic solution of cartridges after infiltration anesthesia were quantitatively measured by a dye binding method. Human hemoglobin was also measured by enzyme immunoassay (EIA). The detection rates of protein and human hemoglobin were 26.2% (85/324) and 24.2% (24/99), respectively. Study results show that blood reflux cannot be avoided in the cartridge system so reuse of residual anesthetic solution from cartridges should be prohibited as quickly as possible to avert risk of cross-infection of HB and AIDS virus.

RESUMO

The prognosis was examined of root canal filing using Neotriozinc Pasta. Thirty teeth followed up included 40 infected root canals, aged between 14 and 67 years, and observed from 1 to 30 days. Results were evaluated from both criteria of clinical symptoms and roentgenographic findings. The results were as follows: 1. A good evaluation was recorded for 87.5% of the 40 canals treated. 2. There were differences between single-rooted teeth and multi-rooted teeth in this study. 3. A better results were obtained in molar group than incisor one.

RESUMO

Dog alpha 1-proteinase inhibitor (alpha 1-PI) was found to be an effective inhibitor of bovine chymotrypsin and also of porcine pancreatic elastase as in the case of human inhibitor. The dog inhibitor inactivated both proteinases at a molar ratio of 1:1. However, compared to the human inhibitor, dog alpha 1-PI was a relatively poor inhibitor of bovine trypsin. The association rate constants (kass) of the interactions of dog alpha 1-PI with bovine chymotrypsin and with porcine elastase were determined to be 6.9 +/- 0.3 X 10(6) M-1 s-1 and 6.4 +/- 0.1 X 10(5) M-1 s-1, respectively. These values are 1.3- and 2.7-fold higher than the corresponding values for the human inhibitor. On the other hand, kass for the dog inhibitor with bovine trypsin (2.6 +/- 0.3 X 10(4)M-1 s-1) was found to be about 5 times smaller than that of the human inhibitor.
