RESUMO

Objective: The objective of this study was to investigate the effects of prolactin (PRL) on the proliferation and apoptosis of ovine ovarian granulosa cells (GCs) and the secretion of estrogen (E2) and progesterone (P4), as well as to explore the effects of PRL on related genes and proteins. Methods: We isolated ovarian GCs from 1-year-old small-tail Han sheep and identified PRL receptor (PRLR) on ovaries and follicle stimulating hormone receptor (FSHR) on ovarian GCs, respectively, using immunohistochemistry. PRL (0, 0.05, 0.50, 5.00 µg/mL) were added to GCs in vitro along with FSH, cell proliferation was measured by Cell Counting Kit-8 (CCK-8) and apoptosis by flow cytometry. The measurement of E2 and P4 content by ELISA after 24h and 48h. The expression of functional genes and proteins was identified by RT-qPCR and Western-blot after 24h. Results: PRLR was expressed in both follicular GCs and corpus luteum, whereas FSHR was expressed specifically. The proliferative activity was lower on day 1 while higher on day 4 and day 5. The apoptosis rate of GCs in the 0.05 µg/mL group was significantly higher than that in the control group after treatment with PRL for 24 h (p<0.05). Compared with the control group, the secretion of E2 in GCs was reduced significantly (p<0.05) in PRL treatment for 24h and 48h, while the secretion of P4 was significantly increased (p<0.05). The mRNA expression levels of PRLR, FSHR, LHR, CYP11A1, HSD3B7 and STAR were significantly higher than those in the control group (p<0.01), and the relative abundance of BCL2 in all PRL group were increased after PRL treatment. Conclusion: PRL promoted the proliferation of GCs and supraphysiological concentrations inhibited apoptosis caused by down-regulation of BAX and up-regulation of BCL2. PRL inhibited E2 by down-regulating CYP19A1 and promoted P4 by up-regulating CYP11A1, STAR and HSD3B7.

RESUMO

Electrochemical reduction of carbon dioxide to organic chemicals provides a value-added route for mitigating greenhouse gas emissions. We report a family of carbon-supported Sn electrocatalysts with the tin size varying from single atom, ultrasmall clusters to nanocrystallites. High single-product Faradaic efficiency (FE) and low onset potential of CO2 conversion to acetate (FE = 90% @ -0.6 V), ethanol (FE = 92% @ -0.4 V), and formate (FE = 91% @ -0.6 V) were achieved over the catalysts of different active site dimensions. The CO2 conversion mechanism behind these highly selective, size-modulated p-block element catalysts was elucidated by structural characterization and computational modeling, together with kinetic isotope effect investigation.

RESUMO

Influenza viruses (IFVs) have caused several pandemics and have claimed numerous lives since their first record in the early 20th century. While the outbreak of COVID-19 seemed to expel influenza from the sight of people for a short period of time, it is not surprising that it will recirculate around the globe after the coronavirus has mutated into a less fatal variant. Baloxavir marboxil (1), the prodrug of baloxavir (2) and a cap-dependent endonuclease (CEN) inhibitor, were approved by the FDA for the first treatment in almost 20 years. Despite their high antiviral potency, drug-resistant variants have been observed in clinical trials. Herein, we report a novel CEN inhibitor 8 with a delicately designed macrocyclic scaffold that exhibits a significantly smaller shift of inhibitory activity toward baloxavir-resistant variants.

RESUMO

Background: In China, the number of preterm infants is the second largest globally. Compared with those in developed countries, the mortality rate and proportion of treatment abandonment for extremely preterm infants (EPIs) are higher in China. It would be valuable to conduct a multicenter study and develop predictive models for the mortality risk. This study aimed to identify a predictive model among EPIs who received complete care in northern China in recent years. Methods: This study included EPIs admitted to eighteen neonatal intensive care units (NICUs) within 72 hours of birth for receiving complete care in northern China between January 1, 2015, and December 31, 2018. Infants were randomly assigned into a training dataset and validation dataset with a ratio of 7:3. Univariate Cox regression analysis and multiple regression analysis were used to select the predictive factors and to construct the best-fitting model for predicting in-hospital mortality. A nomogram was plotted and the discrimination ability was tested by an area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUROC). The calibration ability was tested by a calibration curve along with the Hosmer-Lemeshow (HL) test. In addition, the clinical effectiveness was examined by decision curve analysis (DCA). Results: A total of 568 EPIs were included and divided into the training dataset and validation dataset. Seven variables [birth weight (BW), being inborn, chest compression in the delivery room (DR), severe respiratory distress syndrome, pulmonary hemorrhage, invasive mechanical ventilation, and shock] were selected to establish a predictive nomogram. The AUROC values for the training and validation datasets were 0.863 [95% confidence interval (CI): 0.813-0.914] and 0.886 (95% CI: 0.827-0.945), respectively. The calibration plots and HL test indicated satisfactory accuracy. The DCA demonstrated that positive net benefits were shown when the threshold was >0.6. Conclusions: A nomogram based on seven risk factors is developed in this study and might help clinicians identify EPIs with risk of poor prognoses early.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Variations in the prevalence and systemic inflammatory (SI) status between non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) and newly defined metabolic dysfunction-associated fatty liver disease (MAFLD) have only been reported by few studies. Hence, this study aimed to compile data on the prevalence and the systemic inflammation levels of MAFLD and NAFLD in a general population from Southeast China was summarized to explore the potential effect of the transformation of disease definition. METHODS: A total of 6718 general population participants aged 35-75 were enrolled. Logistic regression and restricted cubic spline (RCS) models were used to examine the relationship between 15 SI indicators and NAFLD and MAFLD. The predicted values of MAFLD and NAFLD were analyzed using the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve. RESULTS: The prevalence of MAFLD and NAFLD was 34.7% and 32.4%, respectively. Their overlapping rate was 89.7%, while only 8.3% and 1.9% of participants were MAFLD-only and NAFLD-only. Among three FLD groups, the MAFLD-only group had the highest levels of 8 SI indicators, including CRP, WBC, LYMPH, NEUT, MONO, ALB, NLR, and SIRI. The non-FLD group had the lower levels of all 15 SI indicators compared with all FLD subgroups. The odds ratios (ORs) of 10 SI indicators were significant in both multivariable-adjusted logistic regression and RCS analyses of MAFLD or NAFLD, including CRP, WBC, LYMPH, NEUT, MONO, ALB, PLR, LMR, ALI and CA. ROC analysis showed that the AUC values of all SI were lower than 0.7 in both MAFLD and NAFLD. CONCLUSIONS: MAFLD could cover more FLD than NAFLD, and the MAFLD-only group had a more severe inflammation status, whereas the NAFLD-only exhibited lower levels. Moreover, there was not a high AUC and a high sensitivity of SI indicators, suggesting that SI indicators are not good indicators to diagnose NAFLD/MAFLD.

RESUMO

Background: Preterm infants presented a high prevalence of congenital hypothyroidism (CH), while the optimal screening pattern is still under debate. This study aimed at evaluating the characteristics of thyroid function by conducting weekly screening during the first month of life in very preterm infants (VPIs) to achieve timely diagnosis and treatment of CH. Methods: A prospective cohort study was carried out on VPIs born with gestational age (GA) <32 weeks (w) and admitted to the participating institutes from January 1, 2019 to December 31, 2022. Serial serum thyroid hormone levels were measured weekly within the first month after birth, and at 36 w of corrected age, or before discharge. Datasets for serial thyroid hormone levels and general information were obtained. Results: A total of 5992 VPIs were enrolled in this study, of which 456 (7.6%) [95% confidence interval (CI), 6.9-8.3%] were diagnosed with CH. The incidence of CH increased with lower GA, moving from 4.8% [CI, 3.4-6.1%] at GA 31 w to 16.9% [CI, 8.3-25.4%] at GA <26 w. Among the CH subjects, 57.7% [CI, 53.1-62.2%] were identified after the first screening and classified as delayed thyrotropin elevation (dTSH). With the decrease of GA, the proportion of dTSH also increased, moving from 38.1% [CI, 27.5-48.7%] at GA 31 w to 82.6% [CI, 65.8-99.4%] at GA <26 w. Through conducting weekly screening of thyroid function, it was remarkable that only 42.3% [CI, 37.8-46.9%] of CH subjects were diagnosed during the first screening. The cumulative rate of CH identified by rescreening performed at the second, third, and fourth week was 76.1% [CI, 72.2-80.0%], 90.6% [CI, 87.9-93.3%], and 98.9% [CI, 97.9-99.9%], respectively. Conclusion: The incidence of CH and dTSH both increase with lower GA in VPIs. Dynamic screening of thyroid function by weeks within the first month of life is crucial for the timely diagnosis and treatment of CH in VPIs, and it might effectively reduce the implications of missed diagnosis and delayed treatment. RESUMO

The outbreak of SARS-CoV-2 has caused global crisis on health and economics. The multiple drug-drug interaction risk associated with ritonavir warrants specialized assessment before using Paxlovid. Here we report a multiple-round SAR study to provide a novel bicyclic[3.3.0]proline peptidyl α-ketoamide compound 4a, which is endowed with excellent antiviral activities and pharmacokinetic properties. Also, in vivo HCoV-OC43 neonatal mice model demonstrated compound 4a has good in vivo efficacy. Based on these properties, compound 4a worth further SAR optimization with the goal to develop compounds with better pharmacokinetic properties and finally to realize single agent efficacy in human.

RESUMO

In hybrid perovskite solar cells (PSCs), the reaction of hydrogens (H) located in the amino group of the organic A-site cations with their neighboring halides plays a central role in degradation. Inspired by the retarded biological activities of cells in heavy water, we replaced the light H atom with its abundant, twice-as-heavy, nonradioactive isotope, deuterium (D) to hamper the motion of H. This D substitution retarded the formation kinetics of the detrimental H halides in Pb-based PSCs, as well as the H bond-mediated oxidation of Sn2+ in Sn-Pb-based narrow-bandgap PSCs, evidenced by accelerated stability studies. A computational study indicated that the zero point energy of D-based formamidinium (FA) is lower than that of pristine FA. In addition, the smaller increase in entropy in D-based FA than in pristine FA accounts for the increased formation free energy of the Sn2+ vacancies, which leads to the retarded oxidation kinetics of Sn2+. In this study, we show that substituting active H with D in organic cations is an effective way to enhance the stability of PSCs without sacrificing photovoltaic (PV) performance. This approach is also adaptable to other stabilizing methods.

RESUMO

The mechanism of photochemical CO2 reduction to formate by PCN-136, a Zr-based metal-organic framework (MOF) that incorporates light-harvesting nanographene ligands, has been investigated using steady-state and time-resolved spectroscopy and density functional theory (DFT) calculations. The catalysis was found to proceed via a "photoreactive capture" mechanism, where Zr-based nodes serve to capture CO2 in the form of Zr-bicarbonates, while the nanographene ligands have a dual role of absorbing light and storing one-electron equivalents for catalysis. We also find that the process occurs via a "two-for-one" route, where a single photon initiates a cascade of electron/hydrogen atom transfers from the sacrificial donor to the CO2-bound MOF. The mechanistic findings obtained here illustrate several advantages of MOF-based architectures in molecular photocatalyst engineering and provide insights on ways to achieve high formate selectivity.

RESUMO

LncRNAs have recently received special attention due to their critical role in many important biological processes. There are few reports on its regulatory function in sheep fat deposition. In this study, two sheep populations with different tail types in Xinjiang, Bashibai sheep (fat-tailed) and the hybrid population of Bashibai sheep and wild argali (small-tailed) were selected for whole transcriptome sequencing from their tail tissues. First, 728 differentially expressed LncRNAs of tail fat between Bashibai and F2 sheep were identified by RNA-seq. Second, the tissue expression profile and relative expression difference between Bashibai and F2 sheep of 2 of 728 DE LncRNAs were analyzed by RT-PCR. LncRNA-MSTRG.24995 was highly expressed in tail fat, while lncRNA-MSTRG.36913 was highly expressed in subcutaneous fat. In addition, the expressions of LncRNA-MSTRG.24995 and LncRNA-MSTRG.36913 in tail fat of F2 sheep were significantly lower than that of Bashibai sheep, while those patterns in longissimus dorsi, quadriceps femoris and rumen were reversed. Third, the expression pattern of target genes FASN and THRSP in each tissue was similar with that of corresponding LncRNAs. The LncRNA-MSTRG.24995 directly affects tail fat deposition by FASN gene, while the LncRNA-MSTRG.36913 indirectly affects that by THRSP gene. This will help us to understand molecular mechanism of fat tail deposition from transcriptomic perspectives.

RESUMO

Donkey milk has high nutritional and medicinal value, but there are few researches in donkey milk traits, especially on genome. The whole lactation of 89 donkeys was recorded and it was found that Xinjiang donkey had good lactation performance while great differences among individuals. In our previous study, four genes including LGALS2, NUMB, ADCY8 and CA8 were identified as milk-associated with Chinese Kazakh house, based on Equine 670k Chip genomic analysis. And then 15 SNPs of the four key genes were conducted for genotyping in Xinjiang donkey in this study, one of Chinese indigenous breed, 14 SNPs were successful classified. And those SNPs were correlation analysis with milk yield of Xinjiang donkeys. The results showed that NUMB g.46709914T > G was significantly correlated with daily milk yield of Xinjiang donkey in the early, middle, and late periods, while ADCY8 g.48366302T > C, CA8 g.89567442T > G and CA8 g.89598328T > A were significantly correlated with lactation in the late periods. These results indicate that NUMB g.46709914T > G can be as markers of candidate genes for lactating traits in donkeys, SNPs of ADCY8 and CA8 as potential. Our findings will not only help confirm key genes for donkey milk traits, but also provide future for genomic selection in donkeys.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVES: To investigate the risk factors for necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC) in very preterm infants and establish a nomogram model for predicting the risk of NEC. METHODS: A total of 752 very preterm infants who were hospitalized from January 2015 to December 2021 were enrolled as subjects, among whom 654 were born in 2015-2020 (development set) and 98 were born in 2021 (validation set). According to the presence or absence of NEC, the development set was divided into two groups: NEC (n=77) and non-NEC (n=577). A multivariate logistic regression analysis was used to investigate the independent risk factors for NEC in very preterm infants. R software was used to plot the nomogram model. The nomogram model was then validated by the data of the validation set. The receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve, the Hosmer-Lemeshow goodness-of-fit test, and the calibration curve were used to evaluate the performance of the nomogram model, and the clinical decision curve was used to assess the clinical practicability of the model. RESULTS: The multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that neonatal asphyxia, sepsis, shock, hypoalbuminemia, severe anemia, and formula feeding were independent risk factors for NEC in very preterm infants (P<0.05). The ROC curve of the development set had an area under the curve (AUC) of 0.833 (95%CI: 0.715-0.952), and the ROC curve of the validation set had an AUC of 0.826 (95%CI: 0.797-0.862), suggesting that the nomogram model had a good discriminatory ability. The calibration curve analysis and the Hosmer-Lemeshow goodness-of-fit test showed good accuracy and consistency between the predicted value of the model and the actual value. CONCLUSIONS: Neonatal asphyxia, sepsis, shock, hypoalbuminemia, severe anemia, and formula feeding are independent risk factors for NEC in very preterm infant. The nomogram model based on the multivariate logistic regression analysis provides a quantitative, simple, and intuitive tool for early assessment of the development of NEC in very preterm infants in clinical practice.

RESUMO

Purpose: Significant antibiotic overuse due to prolonged antibiotic duration has not draw enough attention in developing countries with high antibiotic consumption. We aimed to describe the current status of prolonged early antibiotic duration in very-low-birth-weight (VLBW) infants in a large regional multicenter cohort in China. Patients and Methods: Institution-based prospective cohort study was conducted in all VLBW infants admitted to 16 Grade A tertiary hospitals between January 1, 2019 and December 31, 2020. Early antibiotic use was defined as antibiotic initiation within the first 3 days of life. Prolonged early antibiotic course was defined as early antibiotic initiation for more than 7 days in infants with early-onset sepsis (EOS) or more than 3 days in infants with unlikely EOS. Antibiotic use was described as days of therapy (DOT) per 1000 patient days (PD). Results: Among 1684 eligible VLBW infants, 1544 (91.7%) infants were prescribed with prolonged early antibiotic course, including 618 infants with EOS and 926 infants with unlikely EOS. The median duration of early antibiotic course was 13 (IQR 8;20) days, with 78.0% of courses >7 days and 43.6% of courses >14 days. Total early antibiotic use was 408.3DOT/1000Pd, of which prolonged antibiotic courses accounted for 98.2% of all antibiotic use days. More than three antibiotics used, escalation antibiotic therapy, antibiotics for special use and the use of third generation cephalosporins and carbapenems were significantly common in prolonged courses compared to short courses in both infants with EOS and unlikely EOS group (P<0.05). Conclusion: A large proportion of VLBW infants had excessively prolonged early antibiotic durations in the regional multicenter in China. Timely discontinuation of antibiotics in VLBW infants according to standardized guidelines and limit on the use of third-generation cephalosporins and carbapenems may be key drivers in reducing the antibiotic overuse in developing countries like ours.

RESUMO

Background: Side effects of the use of opioid analgesics during painless delivery are the main factors that affect rapid postpartum recovery. Opioid use can result in dangerous respiratory depression in the patient. Opioids can also disrupt the baby's breathing and heart rate. The nonopioid analgesic dexmedetomidine, a new a2-adrenergic agonist, possesses higher selectivity, greater analgesic effects, and fewer side effects. Moreover, epidural administration of dexmedetomidine also reduces local anesthetic consumption. Objective: Our study aims to compare the analgesic effects as well as the side effects of ropivacaine with dexmedetomidine against sufentanyl as an epidural labor analgesia. Methods: This study is a randomized, double-blinded, controlled trial (registration no. ChiCTR2200055360) involving 120 primiparous (a woman who has given birth once), singleton pregnancy women who are greater than 38 weeks into gestation and have requested epidural labor analgesia. The participants were randomized to receive 0.1% ropivacaine with sufentanyl (0.4 µg/ml) or dexmedetomidine (0.4 µg/ml). The primary outcomes included Visual Analogue Score (VAS), duration of first epidural infusions, the requirement of additional PCEA bolus, and adverse reactions during labor analgesia. Results: Of the 120 subjects who consented, 91 parturient women (women in the condition of labor) had complete data for analysis. Demographics and VAS, as well as maternal and fetal outcomes, were similar between the groups. The duration of first epidural infusions in dexmedetomidine was significantly longer than sufentanyl (median value: 115 vs 68 min, P < 0.01); the parturient women who received dexmedetomidine and who required additional PCEA bolus were fewer in comparison to those who received sufentanyl (27.5% vs 49.0%, P < 0.05). Furthermore, the incidence of pruritus in the dexmedetomidine group was lower in comparison to the sufentanyl group (0% vs 11.8%, P < 0.05). Conclusions: Dexmedetomidine, a nonopioid, is superior to the opioid analgesic sufentanyl in providing a prolonged analgesic effect as an epidural during labor. It also reduces local anesthetic consumption and has fewer side effects. The trial is registered with ChiCTR2200055360.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Overcrowding, abuse of antibiotics and increasing antimicrobial resistance negatively affect neonatal survival rates in developing countries. We aimed to define pathogens and their antimicrobial resistance (AMR) of early-onset sepsis (EOS), hospital-acquired late-onset sepsis (HALOS) and community-acquired late-onset sepsis (CALOS) in 25 neonatal intensive care units (NICUs) in China. STUDY DESIGN: This retrospective descriptive study included pathogens and their AMR from all neonates with bloodstream infections (BSIs) admitted to 25 tertiary hospitals in China from January 1, 2017, and December 31, 2019. We defined EOS as the occurrence of BSI at or before 72 h of life and late-onset sepsis (LOS) if BSI occurred after 72 h of life. LOS were classified as CALOS if occurrence of BSI was ≤ 48 h after admission, and HALOS, if occurrence was > 48 h after admission. RESULTS: We identified 1092 pathogens of BSIs in 1088 infants from 25 NICUs. Thirty-two percent of all pathogens were responsible for EOS, 64.3% HALOS, and 3.7% CALOS. Gram-negative (GN) bacteria accounted for a majority of pathogens in EOS (56.7%) and HALOS (62.2%). The most frequent pathogens causing EOS were Escherichia coli (27.2%) and group B streptococcus (GBS; 14.6%) whereas in CALOS they were GBS (46.3%) and Staphylococcus aureus (41.5%). Klebsiella pneumoniae (27.9%), Escherichia coli (15.7%) and Fungi (12.8%) were the top three isolates in HALOS. Third-generation cephalosporin resistance rates in GN bacteria ranged from 9.7 to 55.6% in EOS and 26% to 63.3% in HALOS. Carbapenem resistance rates in GN bacteria ranged from 2.7 to 31.3% in HALOS and only six isolates in EOS were carbapenem resistant. High rates of multidrug resistance were observed in Klebsiella pneumoniae (60.7%) in HALOS and in Escherichia coli (44.4%) in EOS. All gram-positive bacteria were susceptible to vancomycin except for three Enterococcus faecalis in HALOS. All-cause mortality was higher among neonates with EOS than HALOS (7.4% VS 4.4%, [OR] 0.577, 95% CI 0.337-0.989; P = 0.045). CONCLUSIONS: Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae and GBS were the leading pathogens in EOS, HALOS and CALOS, respectively. The high proportion of pathogens and high degree of antimicrobial resistance in HALOS underscore understanding of the pathogenesis and emphasise the need to devise effective interventions in developing countries.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Delivery room resuscitation assists preterm infants, especially extremely preterm infants (EPI) and extremely low birth weight infants (ELBWI), in breathing support, while it potentially exerts a negative impact on the lungs and outcomes of preterm infants. This study aimed to assess delivery room resuscitation and discharge outcomes of EPI and ELBWI in China. METHODS: The clinical data of EPI (gestational age [GA] <28 weeks) and ELBWI (birth weight [BW] <1000 g), admitted within 72 h of birth in 33 neonatal intensive care units from five provinces and cities in North China between 2017 and 2018, were analyzed. The primary outcomes were delivery room resuscitation and risk factors for delivery room intubation (DRI). The secondary outcomes were survival rates, incidence of bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD), and risk factors for BPD. RESULTS: A cohort of 952 preterm infants were enrolled. The incidence of DRI, chest compressions, and administration of epinephrine was 55.9% (532/952), 12.5% (119/952), and 7.0% (67/952), respectively. Multivariate analysis revealed that the risk factors for DRI were GA <28 weeks (odds ratio [OR], 3.147; 95% confidence interval [CI], 2.082-4.755), BW <1000 g (OR, 2.240; 95% CI, 1.606-3.125), and antepartum infection (OR, 1.429; 95% CI, 1.044-1.956). The survival rate was 65.9% (627/952) and was dependent on GA. The rate of BPD was 29.3% (181/627). Multivariate analysis showed that the risk factors for BPD were male (OR, 1.603; 95% CI, 1.061-2.424), DRI (OR, 2.094; 95% CI, 1.328-3.303), respiratory distress syndrome exposed to ≥2 doses of pulmonary surfactants (PS; OR, 2.700; 95% CI, 1.679-4.343), and mechanical ventilation ≥7 days (OR, 4.358; 95% CI, 2.777-6.837). However, a larger BW (OR, 0.998; 95% CI, 0.996-0.999), antenatal steroid (OR, 0.577; 95% CI, 0.379-0.880), and PS use in the delivery room (OR, 0.273; 95% CI, 0.160-0.467) were preventive factors for BPD (all P < 0.05). CONCLUSION: Improving delivery room resuscitation and management of respiratory complications are imperative during early management of the health of EPI and ELBWI.

RESUMO

Fat tail is one of the most important domesticated characteristics in sheep; however its molecular mechanism is poorly understood. Here we took small-tailed F2 hybrid of wild Argali sheep and typical fat-tailed Bashby sheep as research object. First, histological analysis revealed that the mean diameter and area in tail and subcutaneous fat cells, and surface density in tail fat in Bashby sheep were significantly larger than that in F2 sheep, and surface density of fat in subcutaneous fat in Bashby sheep was significantly lower than that in F2 sheep. Second, 873 differentially expressed genes (DEGs) of tail fat between Bashby and F2 sheep were identified by RNA-seq. Third, the tissue expression profile and relative expression difference between Bashby and F2 sheep of 7 of 873 DEGs were analyzed by RT-PCR. SCD, ESR1, EMR1, PHYH, STAT3 and GPAM genes were highly expressed in fat, muscle and liver, and ALDH1A1 were highly expressed in small intestine. In addition, the expressions of SCD, PHYH and CPAM genes in tail fat of F2 sheep were lower than that of Bashby sheep, while the expression patterns of ESR1 and EMR1 were reversed. Our findings will not only help understand molecular mechanism of fat tail, but also provide theoretical material in sheep evolution.

RESUMO

Perovskite oxides are an important class of oxygen evolution reaction (OER) catalysts in alkaline media, despite the elusive nature of their active sites. Here, we demonstrate that the origin of the OER activity in a La1-xSrxCoO3 model perovskite arises from a thin surface layer of Co hydr(oxy)oxide (CoOxHy) that interacts with trace-level Fe species present in the electrolyte, creating dynamically stable active sites. Generation of the hydr(oxy)oxide layer is a consequence of a surface evolution process driven by the A-site dissolution and O-vacancy creation. In turn, this imparts a 10-fold improvement in stability against Co dissolution and a 3-fold increase in the activity-stability factor for CoOxHy/LSCO when compared to nanoscale Co-hydr(oxy)oxides clusters. Our results suggest new design rules for active and stable perovskite oxide-based OER materials.

RESUMO

The electronic transport properties of PAl12-based cluster complexes are investigated by density functional theory (DFT) in combination with the non-equilibrium Green's function (NEGF) method. Joining two PAl12 clusters via a germanium linker creates a stable semiconducting complex with a large HOMO-LUMO gap. Sequential attachment of an electron-donating ligand, N-ethyl-2-pyrrolidone, to one of the two linked clusters results in the shifting of the electronic spectrum of the ligated cluster while the energy levels of the unligated cluster are mostly unchanged. Using this approach, one can eventually align the HOMO of the ligated cluster to the LUMO of the non-ligated cluster, thereby significantly reducing the HOMO-LUMO gap of the complex. As a result, the transport properties of the complex are highly dependent on the number of attached ligands. Although a single ligand is observed to generally decrease the current, the inclusion of two or more ligands shows a significant increase in the amount of current at most voltages. The resulting increase of the current can be attributed to two factors, first the reduction in the HOMO-LUMO gap due to ligand attachment which has moved the transmission orbitals into the bias window. Secondly, when two or more ligands are attached to the complex, the HOMOs become delocalized across the scattering region, and this significantly enhances the currents.

RESUMO

Based on the numerical analysis that covariance exhibits superior statistical precision than cumulant and variance, a new SOFI algorithm by calculating the n orders covariance for each pixel is presented with an almost 2n -fold resolution improvement, which can be enhanced to 2n via deconvolution. An optimized deconvolution is also proposed by calculating the (n + 1) order SD associated with each n order covariance pixel, and introducing the results into the deconvolution as a damping factor to suppress noise generation. Moreover, a re-deconvolution of the covariance image with the covariance-equivalent point spread function is used to further increase the final resolution by above 2-fold. Simulated and experimental results show that this algorithm can significantly increase the temporal-spatial resolution of SOFI, meanwhile, preserve the sample's structure. Thus, a resolution of 58 nm is achieved for 20 experimental images, and the corresponding acquisition time is 0.8 seconds.
