RESUMO

The search for topological superconductivity (TSC) is currently an exciting pursuit, since non-trivial topological superconducting phases could host exotic Majorana modes. However, the difficulty in fabricating proximity-induced TSC heterostructures, the sensitivity to disorder and stringent topological restrictions of intrinsic TSC place serious limitations and formidable challenges on the materials and related applications. Here, we report a new type of intrinsic TSC, namely intrinsic surface topological superconductivity (IS-TSC) and demonstrate it in layered AuSn4 with Tc of 2.4 K. Different in-plane and out-of-plane upper critical fields reflect a two-dimensional (2D) character of superconductivity. The two-fold symmetric angular dependences of both magneto-transport and the zero-bias conductance peak (ZBCP) in point-contact spectroscopy (PCS) in the superconducting regime indicate an unconventional pairing symmetry of AuSn4. The superconducting gap and surface multi-bands with Rashba splitting at the Fermi level (EF), in conjunction with first-principle calculations, strongly suggest that 2D unconventional SC in AuSn4 originates from the mixture of p-wave surface and s-wave bulk contributions, which leads to a two-fold symmetric superconductivity. Our results provide an exciting paradigm to realize TSC via Rashba effect on surface superconducting bands in layered materials.

RESUMO

Flexible electrodes for energy storage and conversion require a micro-nanomorphology and stable structure. Herein, MXene fibers (MX-CNF) are fabricated by electrospinning, and Co-MOF nanoarrays are prepared on the fibers to form Co-MOF@MX-CNF. Hydrolysis and etching of Co-MOF@MX-CNF in the Ni2+ solution produce cobalt-nickel layered double hydroxide (CoNi-LDH). The CoNi-LDH nanoarrays on the MX-CNF substrate have a large specific surface area and abundant electrochemical active sites, thus ensuring effective exposure of the CoNi-LDH active materials to the electrolyte and efficient pseudocapacitive energy storage and fast reversible redox kinetics for enhanced charging-discharging characteristics. The CoNi-LDH@MX-CNF electrode exhibits a discharge capacity of 996 F g-1 at a current density of 1 A g-1 as well as 78.62% capacitance retention after 3,000 cycles at 10 A g-1. The asymmetric supercapacitor (ASC) comprising the CoNi-LDH@MX-CNF positive electrode and negative activated carbon electrode shows an energy density of 48.4 Wh kg-1 at a power density of 499 W kg-1 and a capacity retention of 78.9% after 3,000 cycles at a current density of 10 A g-1. Density-functional theory calculations reveal the charge density difference and partial density of states of CoNi-LDH@MX-CNF confirming the large potential of the CoNi-LDH@MX-CNF electrode in energy storage applications.

RESUMO

For this work, europium monosulfide (EuS) powders were prepared by sulfurizing Eu2O3 powder with CS2 gas. The synthesized EuS powders were sintered by SPS at temperatures in the 800-1600 °C range for 0.33-1 h at 50 MPa under vacuum conditions. The influences of Yb doping and sintering conditions on the magnetocaloric and mechanical properties of EuS were investigated systematically. An increase in sintering temperature caused the rise of lattice parameters of EuS, whereas Yb doping caused them to drop. SEM showed that the grain size of the EuS increased with sintering temperatures in the 1000-1400 °C range. Higher sintering temperatures can enlarge the magnetizability and saturation magnetization of EuS compact. On the contrary, Yb doping can weaken the magnetizability and saturation magnetization of EuS compact. All sintered polycrystalline EuS compacts had weaker thermomagnetic irreversibility and lower magnetic anisotropy.

RESUMO

We have grown the high quality single crystals of SrCdBi2successfully and investigated the physical properties systematically through measurements of magnetoresistance, Hall effect, magnetic susceptibility, and specific heat measurements. The compound is a nonmagnetic 112-type pnictide with a Bi square net layer, which is potential for hosting Dirac fermions. We found that it exhibited metallic behavior with an anomaly appearing at around 210 K. Magnetoresistance study reveal that the electronic structure of SrCdBi2is quasi-two-dimensional. At low temperatures, we observed magnetic field induced metal-to-insulator-like transition and resistivity plateau, nonsaturating quasilinear magnetoresistance, and high carrier mobility in magnetotransport measurements, which indicate the possible existence of nearly massless Dirac fermions in SrCdBi2. The anomaly at around 210 K can be observed in resistivity, Hall effect, and magnetic susceptibility, but can't be detected in heat capacity. This implies the anomaly might be caused by domain formation or disorder. We found that the nonsaturating linear magnetoresistance in SrCdBi2is likely caused by both of the quantum linear dispersion and the classical disorder. Our findings suggest that SrCdBi2is a natural experimental platform for realizing the topological properties of nonmagnetic 112-type pnictides.

RESUMO

Interfaces between materials with different electronic ground states have become powerful platforms for creating and controlling novel quantum states of matter, in which inversion symmetry breaking and other effects at the interface may introduce additional electronic states. Among the emergent phenomena, superconductivity is of particular interest. Here, by depositing metal films on a newly identified topological semimetal tungsten carbide (WC) single crystal, interfacial superconductivity is obtained, evidenced from soft point-contact spectroscopy. This very robust phenomenon is demonstrated for a wide range of metal/WC interfaces, involving both nonmagnetic and ferromagnetic films, and the superconducting transition temperatures are surprisingly insensitive to the magnetism of thin films. This method offers an opportunity to explore the long-sought topological superconductivity and has potential applications in topological-state-based spin devices.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the efficiency and safety of treating Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) infection of acute graft versus host disease (GVHD) after allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (allo-HSCT) by EBV specific cytotoxic T lymphocytes (EBV-CTL). METHODS: The Clinical characteristics, therapeutic efficacy and safety of 12 patients with EBV infection treated by EBV-CTL infusion after allo-HSCT in Department of Hemahlogy of Aero Space Center Hospital between Jan 2015 and May 2017 were analyzed retrospectioely. RESULTS: Our of 12 cases received EBV-CTL infusion after transplantation, 9 did not received Rituximab therapy due to the active infection, 4 cases including 3 received Ritaximab progressed into posttransplantation lymphoroliferetive disease (PTLD). The median time of EBV infection was 47 (22-71) days, median time of antivirus therapy before tramplantation was 10 (8-33) days, median time of first CTL infusion was 59(34-86) days after transplatation. The 43 cases-time CTL infusion was performed smoothly, no related harmful evnts occoured, no progression of GVHD was observed. After the first course of infusion, complete remission (CR), Partial remssion (PR) and no remssion (NR) were obtained in 9, 1 and 2 patients respectively, the relapse was observed in 4 patients who then received the socond course of infusion and all reached CR, the patient in PR did not reathed CR finally and died of GVGD at 5 months after transpplantation . Only 1 out of 2 cases of NR obtained CR, another 1 still was in NR, and died of transplantation related infection at 5 months after transplantation. 4 cases of PTLD were all cared. CONCLUSION: Preliminary results of this study suggest that EBV-CTL infusion is safe for the EBV infection combined with acute GVHD after all-HSCT. However, a further larger scale clinical studies are needed to prove the efficiency.

RESUMO

To explore the efficacy, and safety of the intensive conditioning regimen consisting of cladribine, cytarabine (Ara-C), and granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (G-CSF) plus modified busulfan (Bu) combined with cytoxan (Cy) (BuCy), prior to allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (allo-HSCT) in patients with refractory, or relapsed acute myeloid leukemia (R/R AML).Thirty-Six R/R AML patients scheduled to receive allo-HSCT were consecutively, enrolled in this prospective study, and treated using intensive conditioning regimen consisting of CLAG plus modified BuCy. Median follow-up duration was 11.25 (range 0.5 - 21.0) months and the last follow up date was August 15, 2017.All patients (100%) achieved white blood cell (WBC) recovery within a median time of 16.00 (13.25 - 18.00) days, and 34 of them (94%) attained platelet (PLT) recovery within a median time of 13.50 (9.25 - 19.75) days. Incidence of acute graft-versus-host disease (aGVHD) was 50.00%, with median time of 71.50 (41.00 - 401.25) days. Three patients developed Grade I; nine, Grade II; 5, Grade III; and 1, Grade IV aGVHD. The incidence of chronic GVHD (cGVHD) was 44.40%, with median time of 255.00 (120.00 - 390.00) days. Four patients developed limited cGVHD, and 12, extensive cGVHD. One-year accumulating leukemia free survival (LFS), and overall survival (OS) rates between 52.9 ±â€Š8.8% to 69.4 ±â€Š7.7%, respectively. Eighteen (50%) patients were infected with cytomegalovirus; 2 (5.6%), with Epstein-Barr virus (EBV), 7 (19.4%), with hemorrhagic cystitis; 13 (36.1%), with bacteria; and 8 (22.2%), with fungus.Intensive conditioning regimen of CLAG plus modified BuCy for allo-HSCT may be effective and well-tolerated in R/R AML patients.

RESUMO

There is an ongoing debate concerning the performance of salvaged allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (allo-HSCT) in pediatric patients with acute refractory leukemia, in whom the prognosis is quite dismal. Few studies have ever been conducted on this subject. This may be partly due to missed opportunities by majority of the patients in such situations. To investigate the feasibility, evaluate the efficiency, and identify the prognostic factors of allo-HSCT in this sub-setting, the authors performed a single institution-based retrospective analysis. A total of 44 patients, of whom 28 had acute myeloid leukemia (AML), 13 had acute lymphocytic leukemia (ALL), and 3 had mixed phenotype leukemia (MPL), were enrolled in this study. With a median follow-up of 19 months, the estimated 2-year overall survival (OS) and progression free survival (PFS) were 34.3% (95% CI, 17.9-51.4%) and 33.6% (95% CI, 18.0-50.1%), respectively. The estimated 2-year incidence rates of relapse and non-relapse mortality (NRM) were 43.8% (95% CI 26.4-60.0%) and 19.6% (95% CI 9.1-32.9%), respectively. The estimated 100-day cumulative incidence of acute graft versus host disease (aGvHD) was 43.6% (95% CI 28.7-57.5%), and the 1-year cumulative incidence of chronic GvHD (cGvHD) was 45.5% (95% CI 30.5-59.3%). Compared with the previous studies, the multivariate analysis in this study additionally identified that female donors and cGvHD were associated with lower relapse and better PFS and OS. Male recipients, age younger than 10 years, a diagnosis of ALL, and the intermediate-adverse cytogenetic risk group were associated with increased relapse. On the contrary, extramedullary disease (EMD) and aGvHD were only linked to worse PFS. These data suggested that although only one-third of the patients would obtain PFS over 2 years, salvaged allo-HSCT is still the most reliable and best therapeutic strategy for refractory pediatric acute leukemia. If probable, choosing a female donor, better management of aGvHD, and induction of cGvHD promotes patient survival.

RESUMO

An in-situ reduction method has been reported to prepare gold nanoparticles (GNPs) of 40-110 nm by using the green reducing agents of proteins, which are activated by H2O2 and the superoxide anion (). The protein of collagen turns HAuCl4 to the aqueous Au(I) ainions, which are further reduced by other proteins to be highly monodispersed and spherical GNPs of different sizes. The GNPs reduced by different proteins are found to be with the exposed {100} facets, the distinctive UV-vis absorption spectra and various colors (See Fig. 1). By means of extracting the color responses, such as red, green and blue (RGB) alterations, an in-situ reduction method-based multidimensional sensing platform is fabricated in the process of GNPs synthesis. Without further modification of GNPs, nine common proteins are found to be well detected and discriminated at different concentrations. Moreover, this sensing platform also demonstrates great potentials in qualitative and semiquantitative analysis on the individuals of these proteins with high sensitivity. Furthermore, the validation of this multidimensional sensing platform has been carried out by analysis on the spiked proteins in human urine and the target proteins in complex matrix (e.g. lysozyme in human tear).

RESUMO

A highly selective method is presented for the colorimetric determination of dopamine (DA) using gold nanoparticles (AuNPs). DA caps on the surface of AuNPs (DA-AuNPs) induces the aggregation of AuNPs in alkaline solution. The DA-AuNPs are modified by the hydrolysate of thioglycolic acid (TGA(2)(-)) through Au-S bonds. The aggregation of AuNPs is accelerated by TGA(2-), due to the strong hydrogen-bonds (NH⋯OC and OH⋯OC) formed between TGA(2)(-) and DA. Upon the addition of DA, the solution shows a color change from red to purple (or yellow), which is also monitored to detect DA in human urine and fetal bovine serum samples. Here, the limits of colorimetric detection are as low as 10(-7)M observed in Milli-Q water, urine and serum. Based on UV-vis absorption spectra, the limits of detection have been calculated to be 3.3×10(-8)M, 1.0×10(-7)M and 9.4×10(-8)M in Milli-Q water, urine, and serum, respectively. All the limits of detection are lower than the lowest abnormal concentrations of DA in urine (5.7×10(-7)M) and blood (1.6×10(-5)M). The good linear ranges from 0 to 10(-6)M are used for the quantitative assay of DA in urine and serum samples. The applicability of our detection system is also verified by analysis of DA in urine and serum samples. The developed approach is without using complex financial instruments.

RESUMO

The recent discovery of superconductivity with a transition temperature (T(c)) at 18 K in K(x)picene has extended the possibility of high-T(c) superconductors in organic materials. Previous experience based on similar hydrocarbons, like alkali-metal doped phenanthrene, suggested that even higher transition temperatures might be achieved in alkali-metals or alkali-earth-metals doped such polycyclic-aromatic-hydrocarbons (PAHs), a large family of molecules composed of fused benzene rings. Here we report the discovery of high-T(c) superconductivity at 33 K in K-doped 1,2:8,9-dibenzopentacene (C(30)H(18)). To our best knowledge, it is higher than any T(c) reported previously for an organic superconductor under ambient pressure. This finding provides an indication that superconductivity at much higher temperature may be possible in such PAHs system and is worthy of further exploration.

RESUMO

Here we report the successful synthesis of superconducting potassium-doped few-layer graphene (K-doped FLG) with a transition temperature of 4.5 K, which is 1 order of magnitude higher than that observed in the bulk potassium graphite intercalation compound (GIC) KC(8) (T(c) = 0.39 K). The realization of superconductivity in K-doped FLG shows the potential for the development of new superconducting electronic devices using two-dimensional (2D) graphene as a basis material.
