RESUMO

El propósito de este estudio ha sido analizar el perfil atencional (atención focalizada, atención mantenida, codificación, capacidad de cambio atencional y resistencia a la perseveración) en niños con diagnóstico de síndrome de Asperger. Se han comparado los resultados obtenidos en nuestro examen con los ofrecidos en las principales investigaciones realizadas hasta la fecha a fin de validar un perfil que permita planificar una intervención psicoterapéutica en disfunciones de la atención en el síndrome de Asperger (AU)


The purpose of this study is to analyze the attentional profile (focused attention, sustained attention, encoding, attentional capacity and resistance to change perseveration) in children diagnosed with Asperger Syndrome. We compared the results of our examination with those offered by major investigations validate a profile suitable for planning a psychotherapeutic intervention of attentinal dysfunctions in Asperger Syndrome (AU)

RESUMO

Pythium polare sp. nov. is a new heterothallic oomycete species isolated from fresh water and moss from various locations in both the Arctic and Antarctic. This water mould is able to infect stems and leaves of Sanionia moss (Sanionia uncinata). Pythium polare causes brown discolouration in in vitro inoculation tests at 5 °C after 5 weeks of inoculation. It is characterized by globose sporangia with various lengths of discharge tubes releasing zoospores and aplerotic oospores with usually one to five antheridia. The sexual structures are only produced in a dual culture of antheridial and oogonial isolates. Phylogenetic analysis, based on ITS sequencing, places all isolated strains of P. polare in a unique new clade, hence it is considered a novel species. Pythium canariense and Pythium violae are the most closely related species of P. polare based both on morphology and the phylogenetic analysis.

RESUMO

The effect of day length on production and germinability of conidia and severity of disease caused by Podosphaera pannosa, the causal agent of rose powdery mildew, was studied. Whole potted plants or detached leaves of Rosa interspecific hybrid 'Mistral' were inoculated with P. pannosa and exposed to 0, 12, 18, 20, 22, or 24 h of artificial light per day in growth chambers equipped with mercury lamps. Increasing duration of illumination from 18 to 20 to 24 h per day reduced production of conidia by 22 to 62%. Exposure to 24 h of illumination per day also strongly reduced disease severity compared with 18 h. Our results suggest that increasing day lengths from 18 h per day to 20 to 24 h may suppress the disease significantly and, thereby, reduce the need for fungicide applications against powdery mildew.
