RESUMO

Objective: Our study aims to assess the effectiveness and safety profile of Disitamab Vedotin (DV, RC48-ADC), an innovative humanized anti-HER2 antibody conjugated with tubulin-disrupting antimitotic drug monomethyl auristatin E (MMAE) via a cleavable peptide linker. This treatment combined immune checkpoint inhibitors as part of the bladder sparing approach for selected patients suffering from locally and locally advanced bladder urothelial carcinoma. Patients and methods: We conducted a two-center, real-world study involving locally advanced urothelial carcinoma (UC) patients. Patients were classified based on HER2 expression (IHC 3+/2+/1+) or lack of HER2 expression (IHC 0). The primary endpoint was the objective response rate (ORR), assessed by the investigator following the criteria of RECIST V1.1. Secondary endpoints encompassed the pathological complete response rate (pCR), pathological partial response rate (pPR), and pathological stable disease (pSD), along with recurrence-free survival (RFS), the pathological downstaging rate, and the safety profile of the treatment. Results: In this study, nine patients were enrolled, with a median follow-up duration of 12.0 months. The overall confirmed ORR was 88.9%, Five patients achieved a complete response (CR), and three patients achieved a partial response (PR). The radiological complete response (rCR) aligned perfectly with pCR. The median radiological progression-free survival (rPFS) spanned 12.0 months (range from 8.0 to 17.0 months). One patient diagnosed with disease progression (PD) underwent a radical cystectomy. The pathological stage evolved from T2N0M0 to T3aN2M0, followed by adjuvant chemotherapy with a gemcitabine-cisplatin (GC) combination radiotherapy. At the 9-month follow-up, neither recurrence nor metastasis was observed. The rate and intensity of complications were manageable among these patients, with no evidence of grade 4 and 5 adverse events. Conclusion: The combination of DV and PD-1 demonstrated considerable activity in the objective response rate (ORR) in patients with HER2 IHC 0/1+/2+/3+ muscle-invasive bladder cancer (MIBC), along with the longest reported median radiological progression-free survival (rPFS) to date. With an extended duration of treatment, the safety profile of DV plus PD-1 was also confirmed to be manageable.

RESUMO

Objective: This study aimed to evaluate the awareness rate of prostate-specific antigen (PSA) among the general public in China and provide data about prostate cancer (PCa) for related scientific research. Methods: A cross-sectional survey of PSA awareness was conducted in multiple regional populations using an online questionnaire. The questionnaire included basic information, knowledge about PCa, the awareness rate and application of PSA, and future expectations toward applying PSA screening in clinical practice. The study applied the methods of Pearson chi-square analysis and Logistic regression analysis. Results: A total of 493 valid questionnaires were included. Two hundred and nineteen respondents (44.4%) were males, and 274 (55.6%) were females. Of all respondents, 212 (43.0%) were under 20 years old, 147 (29.8%) were 20-30 years old, 74 (15.0%) were 30-40 years old, and 60 (12.2%) were over 40 years old. There are 310 people (62.9%) with medical educational background and 183 (37.1%) without. One hundred eighty-seven (37.9%) of the respondents were aware of PSA, and 306 (62.1%) were unaware of PSA. Statistically significant differences were obtained between the two groups regarding different ages, educational backgrounds, occupations, departments, and habits of knowing medical knowledge (all p < 0.05). In addition, the differences between the group of aware of PSA (AP) and the group unaware of PSA (UAP) in terms of whether they had been exposed to PSA screening and whether they had exposure to PCa patients or related knowledge were also observed (all p < 0.05). Age ≥30 years, medical educational background, understanding of medical knowledge, exposure to PCa patients or related knowledge, exposure to PSA screening, and status as a graduate student and above were independent factors for the occurrence of PSA awareness events (all p < 0.05). In addition, age ≥ 30 years, medical educational background, and awareness of PSA were independent factors for future expectations toward PSA (all p < 0.05). Conclusions: We first analyzed the public awareness of PSA. Cognition degrees of PSA and PCa awareness vary among different populations in China. Therefore, we should designate corresponding widespread scientific educational programs for different populations to increase the awareness rate of PSA.

RESUMO

Molybdenum nitride (MoNx) was perceived as carrier-selective contacts (CSCs) for crystalline silicon (c-Si) solar cells due to having proper work functions and excellent conductivities. However, the poor passivation and non-Ohmic contact at the c-Si/MoNx interface endow an inferior hole selectivity. Here, the surface, interface, and bulk structures of MoNx films are systematically investigated by X-ray scattering, surface spectroscopy, and electron microscope analysis to reveal the carrier-selective features. Surface layers with the composition of MoO2.51N0.21 form upon air exposure, which induces the overestimated work function and explains the origin of inferior hole selectivities. The c-Si/MoNx interface is confirmed to adopt long-term stability, providing guidance for designing stable CSCs. A detailed evolution of the scattering length density, domain sizes, and crystallinity in the bulk phase is presented to elucidate its superior conductivity. These multiscale structural investigations offer a clear structure-function correlation of MoNx films, providing key inspiration for developing excellent CSCs for c-Si solar cells.

RESUMO

Colored solar panels, realized by depositing various reflection layers or structures, are emerging as power sources for building with visual aesthetics. However, these panels suffer from reduced photocurrent generation due to the less efficient light harvesting from visible light reflection and degraded power conversion efficiency (PCE). Here, color-patterned silicon heterojunction solar cells are achieved by incorporating luminescent quantum dots (QDs) with high quantum yields as light converters to realize an asthenic appearance with high PCE. It is found that large bandgap (blue) QD layers can convert UV light into visible light, which can notably alleviate the parasitic absorption by the front indium tin oxide and doped amorphous silicon. Additionally, a universal optical path model is proposed to understand the light transmission process, which is suitable for luminescent down-shift devices. In this study, solar cells with a PCE exceeding 23.5% are achieved using the combination of a blue QD layer and a top low refractive index anti-reflection layer. Based on our best knoledge, the obtained PCE is the highest for a color-patterned solar cell. The results suggest an enhanced strategy involving incorporation of luminescent QDs with an optical path design for high-performance photovoltaic panels with visual aesthetics.

RESUMO

The herniation of ureter is rare. A 59-year-old woman with hydronephrosis caused by herniation of ureter through psoas muscle fascia was observed. The patient referred to our clinic with four weeks' history of left flank pain and fever. Computed tomography urography and antegrade combined with retrograde urography revealed tortuous and proximal dilated ureter and hydronephrosis on the left side. Herniation of ureter through psoas muscle fascia was confirmed in operation and laparoscopic ureteroplasty with end to end anastomosis was done. No obvious hydronephrosis or flank pain was observed in follow-up for one and a half year.

RESUMO

Bladder cancer is a common malignancy in the urinary system. Defects of drug molecules in bladder during treatment, such as passive diffusion, rapid clearance of periodic urination, poor adhesion and permeation abilities, lead to low delivery efficiency of conventional drugs and high recurrence rate of disease. In this study, we designed multi-responsive mesoporous polydopamine (PDA) composite nanorods cooperating with nano-enzyme and photosensitiser for intensive immunotherapy of bladder cancer. The strongly adhesive mesoporous PDA with wheat germ agglutinin on nanoparticles could specifically adhere to epithelial glycocalyx and made the nanoparticles aggregate in urinary pathways. Meanwhile, 2,3-dimethylmaleic anhydride could be hydrolysed in acidic conditions of tumour microenvironment, giving it a positive charge (charge reversal), which is more amenable to enter cancer cells. Afterwards, manganese dioxide nanorods could catalyse the reaction of excess H2 O2 in tumour microenvironment to generate active oxygen, so as to change the hypoxic environment in tumour, and achieve a pH-responsive for slow release of PD-L1. After the ICG was irradiated by infrared light, a large amount of singlet oxygen was generated, thereby enhancing the therapeutic effect and reducing toxicity in vivo. Besides, mesoporous PDA with indocyanine green photothermal agent could have a local heat up quickly under the near-infrared light to kill cancer cells, thereby enhancing therapeutic efficacy. Accordingly, this mesoporous PDA composite nanorods shed a light on bladder tumour treatment.

RESUMO

We focused on studying the effects of a key miRNA-mRNA axis in bladder urothelial carcinoma (BUC). Firstly, miRNAs and mRNAs differentially expressed in BUC were analyzed. Clinical information in the TCGA database was used for survival analysis, and the regulator of miRNA-93-5p was predicted. miRNA-93-5p and KLF9 mRNA expression were detected by qRT-PCR. Protein level detection and targeting measurement were, respectively, achieved by western blot and dual-luciferase approaches. The proliferative, invasive, and migratory abilities were tested through CCK-8, Transwell, and wound healing methods. Cell apoptosis in each group was detected through flow cytometry. As discovered, miRNA-93-5p level was markedly high in BUC cells while KLF9 expression was remarkably low. miRNA-93-5p overexpression promoted BUC cell abilities. Besides, miRNA-93-5p inhibited KLF9 expression. Furthermore, KLF9 overexpression dramatically attenuated such promotion on cancer cell abilities. On the whole, miRNA-93-5p/KLF9 axis facilitated BUC progression, offering a new potential target for BUC patients.

RESUMO

Balanced charge injection is key to achieving perovskite light-emitting diodes (PeLEDs) with a low efficiency roll-off at a high brightness. The use of zinc oxide (ZnO) with a high electron mobility as the charge transport layers is desirable; however, photoluminescence (PL) quenching of a perovskite on ZnO always occurs. Here, a quasi-two-dimensional perovskite on ZnO is explored to uncover the PL quenching mechanism, mainly ascribed to the deprotonation of ammonium cations on the ZnO film in association with the decomposition of low-dimensional perovskite phases. Surprisingly, crystal plane-dependent PL quenching results indicate that the deprotonation rate strongly correlates with the crystal orientation of the ZnO surface. We developed a strategy for suppressing perovskite PL quenching by incorporating an atomic layer deposited Al2O3 onto the ZnO film. Consequently, an efficient inverted PeLED was achieved with a maximum external quantum efficiency of 17.7% and a less discernible efficiency roll-off at a high current density.

RESUMO

PURPOSE: Premature ejaculation (PE) is one of the most common male sexual dysfunctions. Local anesthetics (LAs) and dapoxetine are frequently used to treat PE; however, previous studies show variable efficacy. This study aims to determine the efficacy of LAs and dapoxetine using a novel classification based on neurophysiological tests. MATERIALS AND METHODS: This multicenter cohort study enrolled adult men (568) with an intravaginal ejaculatory latency time (IELT) ≤2 minutes. Patients were divided into 4 groups according to the results of neurophysiological tests and assigned different treatments for 12 weeks: 1) penile sensory hyperexcitability type (Sens)-LAs; 2) penile sympathetic hyperexcitability type (Symp)-dapoxetine; 3) mixed type (Mixed)-both LAs and dapoxetine; 4) normal type (Norm)-both LAs and dapoxetine. Self-estimated IELT and patient-reported outcomes were recorded. RESULTS: The total percentage of men achieving IELT >2 minutes and ≥5 minutes after treatment were 82.7% and 76.7%, respectively. For men with abnormal results of neurophysiological tests, 401 (86.6%) had improved IELT >2 minutes after the 12-week treatment course, in which 375 (81.0%) achieved IELT ≥5 minutes. All patient-reported outcome measures improved in each group after 12 weeks of treatment, with greater improvements among those with abnormal neurophysiological tests. CONCLUSIONS: The efficacy of LAs and dapoxetine increased in PE patients with abnormal results of neurophysiological tests. This novel classification of PE using neurophysiological tests could help guide and improve efficacy of PE therapies.

RESUMO

Helicobacter pylori neutrophil-activating protein (HP-NAP)-induced production of reactive oxygen species (ROS) by neutrophils and monocytes is regulated by pertussis toxin (PTX)-sensitive G proteins, whereas HP-NAP-induced cytokine secretion by monocytes is mediated by Toll-like receptor 2 (TLR2). However, it is unclear whether TLR2 participates in HP-NAP-induced cytokine secretion by neutrophils. Here, all-trans retinoic acid (ATRA)-induced differentiated HL-60 cells were first employed as a neutrophil model to investigate the molecular mechanisms underlying neutrophil responses to HP-NAP. HP-NAP-induced ROS production in ATRA-induced differentiated HL-60 cells is mediated by the PTX-sensitive heterotrimeric G protein-dependent activation of extracellular signal-regulated kinase 1/2 and p38-mitogen-activated protein kinase, which is consistent with the findings reported for human neutrophils. Next, whether TLR2 participated in HP-NAP-induced secretion of interleukin-8 (IL-8) was investigated in neutrophils and ATRA-induced differentiated HL-60 cells. In both cells, TLR2 participated in HP-NAP-induced IL-8 secretion but not HP-NAP-induced ROS production. Interestingly, PTX-sensitive G proteins also contributed to the HP-NAP-induced secretion of IL-8 from neutrophils and the differentiated HL-60 cells. Our ELISA-based binding assay further revealed the competitive binding of Pam3CSK4, a TLR2 agonist, and HP-NAP to TLR2, which suggests the presence of specific and direct interactions between HP-NAP and TLR2. Thus, HP-NAP directly interacts with and activates TLR2 to induce IL-8 secretion in neutrophils and ATRA-induced differentiated HL-60 cells.

RESUMO

Quasi-2D perovskites are enchanting alternative materials for solar cells due to their intrinsic stability. The manipulation of crystal orientation of quasi-2D perovskites is indispensable to target efficient devices, however, the origin of orientation during the film fabrication process still lacks in-depth understanding and convincing evidence yet, which hinders further boosting the performance of photovoltaic devices. Herein, the crystallizing processes during spin-coating and annealing are probed by in situ grazing-incidence wide-angle X-ray scattering (GIWAXS), and the incident-angle-dependent GIWAXS is conducted to unveil the phase distribution in the films. It is found that undesirable lead iodide sol-gel formed intermediate phase would disturb oriented crystalline growth, resulting in random crystal orientation in poor quasi-2D films. A general strategy is developed via simple additive agent incorporation to suppress the formation of the intermediate phase. Accordingly, highly oriented perovskite films with reduced trap density and higher carrier mobility are obtained, which enables the demonstration of optimized quasi-2D perovskite solar cells with a power conversion efficiency of 15.2% as well as improved stability. This work paves a promising way to manipulate the quasi-2D perovskites nucleation and crystallization processes via tuning nucleation stage.

RESUMO

Metal halide perovskite light-emitting diodes (PeLEDs) have been regarded as alternative candidates for full-color display applications with rapid progress to surge the external quantum efficiencies (EQEs) over 20%. However, in contrast to the high efficiencies of green, red, and near-infrared PeLEDs, the performance of their blue cousins is still lagging behind, especially the pure-blue one. Obtaining blue perovskite films with negligible nonradiative recombination loss and high stability is of great importance to realize efficient and spectrally stable blue PeLEDs. In this work, through partially replacing the toxic lead ions (Pb2+) with ecofriendly strontium ions (Sr2+) to tune the emission wavelength along with using passivation strategies, all-inorganic pure-blue perovskite films with a high photoluminescence quantum yield of 60.7% were achieved, which then delivered PeLEDs with a luminance of 510 cd m-2 and an EQE of 1.43%. The device yields a record radiance among the most efficient PeLEDs at 467 nm. In addition, the resultant PeLEDs displayed exceptional spectral stability during the electrical bias operation. Our work provides a promising avenue to develop environmentally friendly perovskite materials for efficient and spectrally stable pure-blue PeLEDs and beyond.

RESUMO

Our case reports probe whether intentional replantation is a feasible and successful treatment for teeth with radicular developmental groove. Radicular developmental groove is an anatomical malformation that often leads to combined periodontal-endodontic lesion. Treatment of complex radicular groove presents a great challenge to the operator. Two cases of periodontal compromised teeth with this developmental anomaly were treated with intentional replantation and followed up for 2 years. The teeth were asymptomatic and functional. The periodontal probing depths decreased from original 10 mm to 2-3 mm. The receded gingival papillae associated with the teeth was regenerated two years after intentional replantation. With careful case selection and treatment planning, intentional replantation may be a predictable alternative treatment modality for the combined endodontic-periodontal lesion accompanied with radicular developmental groove.

RESUMO

Cryopreservation of human spermatozoa with low concentration while maintaining adequate post-thawing motility remains a major challenge for male fertility preservation. A convenient and efficient ultra-rapid freezing method for small amounts of human spermatozoa in a closed Hemi-Straw carrier system (CHS) was developed. Spermatozoa from 60 healthy men were involved in a parameter refining test and another 15 extreme oligozoospermic specimens were assigned to a verification test. A commercialized sperm freezing medium, Quinn's Advantage® Sperm Freeze medium (glycerol and sucrose as the cryoprotective agent) was used in the study. The results showed that the highest recovery rates would be obtained via the method of 2 µl single droplet sequential interval loading, by placing the straw at 1 cm above the liquid nitrogen (LN2) surface for 60 s during freezing and 2 cm above the LN2 for 2 min during thawing. This method was applied in cryopreservation for the normozoospermic specimens and compared with a conventional slow freezing method. The results were better than those in the control group in the total motility recovery rate (77.8 ± 11.2% vs 56.6 ± 11.9%, P < 0.01), progressive motility recovery rate (77.6 ± 13.2% vs 47.7 ± 14.6%, P < 0.01), 24 h survival index (60.9 ± 13.4% vs 42.1 ± 14.1%, P < 0.01) and the sperm DNA fragment index (4.2 ± 3.7% vs 5.8 ± 3.7%, P = 0.126). This method was applied to the oligozoospermic specimens. Motile spermatozoa could be found in 12 of 15 cases in the ultra-rapid freezing group, while only in 7 cases in control group. The results indicated that this freezing method was simple, convenient and bio-safe for cryopreservation of severe oligozoospermic specimens.

RESUMO

Epalrestat, an aldose reductase inhibitor (ARI), was adopted to improve the function of peripheral nerves in diabetic patients. The aim of this study was to investigate whether epalrestat could restore the erectile function of diabetic erectile dysfunction using a rat model. From June 2016, 24 rats were given streptozocin (STZ) to induce the diabetic rat model, and epalrestat was administered to ten diabetic erectile dysfunction (DED) rats. Intracavernous pressure (ICP) and mean systemic arterial pressure (MAP), levels of aldose reductase (AR), nerve growth factor (NGF), neuronal nitric oxide synthase (nNOS), α-smooth muscle antigen (α-SMA), and von Willebrand factor (vWF) in the corpus cavernosum were analyzed. We discovered that epalrestat acted on cavernous tissue and partly restored erectile function. NGF and nNOS levels in the corpora were increased after treatment with epalrestat. We also found that the content of α-SMA-positive smooth muscle cells and vWF-positive endothelial cells in the corpora cavernosum were declined. Accordingly, epalrestat might improve erectile function by increasing the upregulation of NGF and nNOS to restore the function of the dorsal nerve of the penis.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Elevated plasma gonadotropins were associated with desensitization of Sertoli and Leydig cells in the male testis. Testis spermatogenesis ability would be improved via inhibiting high endogenous gonadotropin in patients with severe oligozoospermia. Whether it would be beneficial for non-obstructive azoospermia (NOA) patients was still unclear. METHODS: Goserelin, a gonadotropin releasing hormone agonist (GnRHα) was used to suppress endogenous gonadotropin levels (gonadotropin reset) in the NOA patients, improving the sensitization of the Sertoli and Leydig cells. Then human menopausal gonadotropin (hMG) and human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) were injected to stimulate them to ameliorate the ability of testicular spermatogenesis. The main outcome measure was the existence of spermatozoa in the semen or by testicular sperm extraction (TESE). Elevation of inhibin B and/or ameliorative expression pattern of ZO-1 was the secondary objective. RESULTS: A total of 35 NOA men who failed to retrieve sperm via TESE were enrolled. Among these, 10 patients without treatment were selected as control group and secondary TESE was performed 6 months later. Of the 25 treated men, inhibin B was elevated in 11 patients in the first 4 weeks (Response group), while only 5 patients had constant increase in the following 20 weeks (Response group 2). Of the 5 men, 2 men acquired sperm (Response group 2B), while 3 failed (Response group 2A). Immunofluorescence of mouse vasa homologue (MVH) and ZO-1 showed that both positive MVH signals and ZO-1 expression were significantly increased in the Response group 2, but only Response group 2B showed ameliorative ZO-1 distribution. CONCLUSIONS: Gonadotropin reset, a new therapeutic protocol with GnRHα, was able to improve the ability of testicular spermatogenesis in the NOA patients through restoring the sensitivity of Sertoli and Leydig cells, which were reflected by elevated inhibin B and ameliorative ZO-1 expression and distribution. RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Experimental models have confirmed that autoimmunity is an important factor in the onset of chronic prostatitis/chronic pelvic pain syndrome (CP/CPPS); however, there is no conclusive evidence on whether autoimmune prostatitis exists in human males. METHODS: Rabbits were immunized with either human prostate tissue homogenates or normal saline and the antiserum was collected. Two-dimensional electrophoresis (2-DE) was performed on the homogenates and Western blotting was conducted on the sera. The identified human prostate tissue immunodominant antigens (HPTIAs) were detected by mass spectrometry. The serum immunoglobulin (Ig)G from the immunized rabbits was purified with protein A-agarose, and the purified IgG was linked with Sepharose to purify HPTIAs by affinity chromatography. Non-obese diabetic (NOD) mice were immunized with the purified HPTIAs, and the levels of serum antibodies, INF-γ, and histopathological changes in their prostate tissues were detected. The purified HPTIAs were coated into polystyrene pores and serum autoantibodies in CP/CPPS patients were detected by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Meanwhile, serum interleukin 2 (IL-2), interferon gamma (IFNγ), and tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNFα) levels in CP/CPPS patients were also determined by ELISA. RESULTS: Sixteen HPTIAs were identified. Among them, three types were reported to be associated with prostatic diseases. Prostatitis was induced in mice immunized with the 16-HPTIA complex, with positive serum autoantibody and increased prostatic IFN-γ levels. The positive rate of serum autoantibodies against HPTIAs was significantly higher in CP/CPPS patients (23.1%, 18/78) than in the control (2.7%, 2/75). But there was no significant difference in serum TNFα, IFNγ, and IL-2 levels between the CPPS patients with positive and negative autoantibodies against HPTIAs. CONCLUSIONS: Autoantibodies against HPTIAs exist in part in CP/CPPS patients, which implies that autoimmunity and the 16 HPTIAs are important factors in the onset of CP/CPPS. The detection of serum autoantibodies could be applied in clinical diagnoses of autoimmune prostatitis; treatment protocols might change. Additional studies are needed to determine which of the 16 HPTIAs is the most important.

RESUMO

The nerve electrophysiological tests may differentiate the treatment of primary premature ejaculation (PPE) in our previous studies. However, no study verifies if the results will be affected by abstinence time. From January to December in 2016, fifty PPE patients ejaculated within 2 min and 28 control subjects were enrolled. The nerve electrophysiological tests, including dorsal nerve somatosensory evoked potential (DNSEP), glans penis somatosensory evoked potential (GPSEP), and penile sympathetic skin response (PSSR), were recorded before and immediately after ejaculation. The abstinence day was not correlated with the latencies of SEPs or PSSR neither in PE group (P = 0.170, 0.064, and 0.122, respectively) nor in control group (P = 0.996, 0.475, and 0.904, respectively). No statistically differences were found in the latencies of SEPs and PSSR before and after ejaculation in PE patients (P = 0.439, 0.537, and 0.576, respectively) or control subjects (P = 0.102, 0.198, and 0.363, respectively). Thus, abstinence time does not interfere with the nerve electrophysiological test, which is stable in determining the nerve function of PPE patients.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the effects of Ningmitai capsule combined with sertraline on patients with premature ejaculation (PE) and an increased anterior-posterior diameter (APD) of the seminal vesicles (SVs). METHODS: Sixty men with acquired PE were enrolled and randomly divided into two groups. The combined group was treated with Ningmitai capsule and sertraline, while the control group was treated with sertraline alone. Main outcomes were measured using the premature ejaculation diagnostic tool (PEDT), APD of SVs, and Clinical Global Impression of Change questionnaire and compared before and after 3 months of treatment. RESULTS: Comparing after treatment with before treatment outcomes within each group, the PEDT score was significantly reduced in the combined group (12.1 ¡À 2.5 vs 8.6 ¡À 3.2, P < 0.001, respectively) and control group (12.9 ¡À 2.6 vs 10.3 ¡À 1.6, P < 0.001, respectively). Furthermore, the PEDT score after treatment was significantly lower in the combined compared with control group (8.6 ¡À 3.2 vs 10.3 ¡À 1.6, P = 0.011, respectively). The APD of SVs in the combined group was significantly decreased after treatment [(10.8 ¡À 2.4) vs (12.9 ¡À 2.2) mm, P = 0.001], while the APD of SVs in the control group was equivalent before and after treatment. The treatment response rate was not significantly higher in the combined compared with control group. CONCLUSION: These results indicated that the effect of Ningmitai capsule combined with sertraline was better than that of sertraline alone for the treatment of PE patients exhibiting an increased APD of SVs. The therapeutic effect found for the combined treatment may be due to antibacterial and anti-inflammatory activity reported for Ningmitai capsule, and may suggest that seminal vesiculitis is a potential pathophysiological factor in acquired PE.
