RESUMO

Hericium erinaceus, a consumable mushroom, has shown a potential to enhance the production of neuroprotective bioactive metabolites. Traumatic brain injury (TBI) often leads to cognitive, physical, and psychosocial impairments, resulting in neuroinflammation and the loss of cortical neurons. In this research, the effects of H. erinaceus mycelium, its derivative erinacine C, along with the underlying mechanisms, were examined in terms of oxidative stress modulation and neurological improvement in a rat model of mild traumatic brain injury (mTBI). Male Sprague-Dawley rats were administered diets containing H. erinaceus mycelium and erinacine C following experimental brain injury; these supplements were continued throughout the recovery phase. The binding activity of NF-E2-related factor 2 (Nrf2) near antioxidant genes in mixed glial cells was measured by chromatin immunoprecipitation-quantitative polymerase chain reaction (ChIP-qPCR). The motor beam walking test revealed that dietary supplementation of H. erinaceus mycelium resulted in modest improvements in spatial memory while inhibiting neuron cell death and microglial activation according to brain histological examination. These findings were further corroborated by the upregulation of several antioxidant enzymes (catalase, glutathione reductase, thioredoxin reductase, and superoxide dismutase) and phospho-CAMP-response element-binding (p-CREB) levels in the mTBI model treated with H. erinaceus mycelium. Erinacine C treatment led to significantly reduced brain inflammation and normalization of mTBI-induced deficits through the modulation of the Nrf2 activation pathway and upregulated expression of numerous Nrf2-binding antioxidant genes such as catalase, thioredoxin reductase, superoxide dismutase, and brain-derived neurotrophic factor. This study demonstrates the potential of H. erinaceus mycelium and erinacine C in facilitating recovery following mTBI, including the prevention of neuronal injury and inactivation of microglia through the Nrf2-mediated antioxidant pathway in vivo.

BACKGROUND: Anus preservation has been a challenge in the treatment of patients with low rectal adenocarcinoma (within 5 cm from the anal verge) because it is difficult to spare the anus with its functioning sphincter complex under the safe margin of tumour resection. Patients with dMMR/MSI-H can achieve a favourable complete response (CR) rate by using a single immune checkpoint inhibitor. For patients with pMMR/MSS/MSI-L, intensified neoadjuvant three-drug chemotherapy may be the preferred option for anal preservation. In addition, the watch and wait (W&W) strategy has been proven safe and feasible for patients with rectal cancer who achieve a clinical complete response (cCR). Therefore, we initiated this clinical trial to explore the optimal neoadjuvant treatment pattern for patients with low locally advanced rectal cancer (LARC) with different MMR/MSI statuses, aiming to achieve a higher cCR rate with the W&W strategy and ultimately provide more patients with a chance of anus preservation. METHODS: This is a randomised, controlled, open-label, multicentre phase III trial. Patients with clinical stage T2-4 and/or N + tumours located within 5 cm from the anal verge are considered eligible. Based on the results of pathological biopsy, the patients are divided into two groups: dMMR/MSI-H and pMMR/MSS. Patients in the dMMR/MSI-H group will be randomly allocated in a 1:1 ratio to either arm A (monoimmunotherapy) or arm B (short-course radiotherapy followed by monoimmunotherapy). Patients in the pMMR/MSS group will be initially treated with long-term pelvic radiation with concurrent capecitabine combined with irinotecan. Two weeks after the completion of chemoradiotherapy (CRT), the patients will be randomly allocated in a 1:1 ratio to arm C (XELIRI six cycle regime) or arm D (FOLFIRINOX nine cycle regime). The irinotecan dose will be adjusted according to the UGT1A1-genotype. After treatment, a comprehensive assessment will be performed to determine whether a cCR has been achieved. If achieved, the W&W strategy will be adopted; otherwise, total mesorectal excision (TME) will be performed. The primary endpoint is cCR with the maintenance of 12 months at least, determined using digital rectal examination, endoscopy, and rectal MRI or PET/CT as a supplementary method. DISCUSSION: APRAM will explore the best anus preservation model for low LARC, combining the strategies of consolidation chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and short-course radiotherapy, and aims to preserve the anus of more patients using W&W. Our study provides an accurate individual treatment mode based on the MMR/MSI status for patients with low LARC, and more patients will receive the opportunity for anus preservation under our therapeutic strategy, which would transform into long-term benefits. BACKGROUND: The objective of this study is to investigate and understand the characteristics of odontogenic brain abscess. METHODS: A case of brain abscess suspected to be caused by odontogenic infection was documented, and a comprehensive analysis and summary of odontogenic brain abscess cases reported in various countries over the past 20 years was conducted. RESULTS: Based on the analysis and synthesis of both the present and previous reports, we have examined and consolidated the distinctive features of odontogenic brain abscess, the potential transmission pathway of pathogenic bacteria, diagnostic assertions, verification techniques, and crucial considerations during treatment. CONCLUSION: This investigation contributes to an enhanced comprehension and improved clinical identification of odontogenic brain abscess.

The family of transition-metal dipnictides has been of theoretical and experimental interest because this family hosts topological states and extremely large magnetoresistance (MR). Recently,TaAs2, a member of this family, has been predicted to support a topological crystalline insulating state. Here, by using high-resolution angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy (ARPES), we reveal both closed and open pockets in the metallic Fermi surface (FS) and linearly dispersive bands on the (2‾01) surface, along with the presence of extreme MR observed from magneto-transport measurements. A comparison of the ARPES results with first-principles computations shows that the linearly dispersive bands on the measured surface ofTaAs2are trivial bulk bands. The absence of symmetry-protected surface state on the (2‾01) surface indicates its topologically dark nature. The presence of open FS features suggests that the open-orbit fermiology could contribute to the extremely large MR ofTaAs2.

The COVID-19 pandemic has had a global impact on the environment and economy and has affected hospital administration and patient behaviour. Since human-to-human coronavirus transmission occurs via droplets and physical contact, health care professionals are particularly vulnerable to contracting COVID-19. Many cytopathology laboratories updated their workflow, established new standard biosafety protocols, and built digital pathology or telescope platforms to mitigate these risks and deal with the shortage of health care personnel. The COVID-19 pandemic also disrupted medical education-all indoor training events, including conferences, multidisciplinary tumour boards, seminars, and microscope inspections were postponed. As a result, many laboratories now use new web-based applications and platforms to maintain educational programs and multidisciplinary tumour boards. To comply with government directives, health care facilities postponed non-emergency surgeries, reduced the number of routine medical examinations, restricted visitor numbers, and scaled back cancer screening activities, resulting in a sharp decline in cytopathology diagnoses, cancer screening specimens, and molecular testing for cancer. Subsequent misses or delays in the diagnosis and treatment of cancer were not uncommon. This review aims to provide comprehensive summaries of the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic for cytopathology, particularly in terms of cancer diagnosis, workload, human resources, and molecular testing.

Metastatic dissemination of colorectal cancer (CRC), the third most common cancer type, is responsible for CRC deaths. Understanding the transition of lymph node metastasis (LNM) from Stage II to Stage III is beneficial in the prognosis and intervention of CRC. In this study, a quantitative proteomic survey was conducted to investigate the LNM-associated proteins and evaluate the clinicopathological characteristics of these target proteins in CRC. By using the LC-MS/MS iTRAQ technology, we analysed the proteomic changes between LMN II and LMN III. Fresh tumours from the CRC specimens consisting of 12 node-negative (Stage II) and 12 node-positive (Stage III) cases were analysed by LC-MS/MS iTRAQ proteome analysis. Subsequently, tissue microarray with immunohistochemistry staining was conducted to access the clinicopathological characteristics of these proteins in 116 paraffin-embedded CRC samples, each for non-LNM and LNM CRC. To study the effects of the differentially expressed proteins on the potential mechanism, Boyden chamber assay, flow cytometry and shRNA-based assessments were conducted to examine the role of the epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) and the invasiveness of CRC cells and others in vivo xenograft mouse model experiments. Forty-eight proteins were found differentially expressed between non-LNM and LNM CRC tissues. Protein abundances of chromogranin-A (CHGA) and ubiquitin carboxyl-terminal hydrolase isozyme L1 (UCHL1) were observed in node-positive CRC (p < 0.05). Knockdown of CHGA and UCHL1 significantly regulate cancer behaviours of HCT-116, including inhibition of cell migration, invasiveness, cell cycle G1/S arrest and reactive oxygen species (ROS) generation. Mechanistically, the CHGA and UCHL1 inactivation displayed decreased levels of UCH-L1, chromogranin A, ß-catenin, cyclin E, twist-1/2, vimentin, MMP-9, N-cadherin and PCNA through the activation of the Rho-GTPase/AKT/NFκB pathways. Histone modification of H3K4 trimethylation of CHGA and UCHL1 promoter were increased to activate their transcription through the signalling transduction such as Rho-GTPase, AKT and NFκB pathways. Our results indicated that UCHL1 and chromogranin A are novel regulators in CRC lymph node metastasis to potentially provide new insights into the mechanism of CRC progression and serve as biomarkers for CRC diagnosis at the metastatic stage.

Slow skeletal muscle troponin T (TNNT1) as a poor prognostic indicator is upregulated in colon and breast cancers. However, the role of TNNT1 in the disease prognosis and biological functions of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is still unclear. The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA), real-time quantitative RT-PCR (qRT-PCR), immunoblot, and immunohistochemical analyses were applied to evaluate the TNNT1 expression of human HCC. The impact of TNNT1 levels on disease progression and survival outcome was studied using TCGA analysis. Moreover, the bioinformatics analysis and HCC cell culture were used to investigate the biological functions of TNNT1. Besides, the immunoblot analysis and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) were used to detect the extracellular TNNT1 of HCC cells and circulating TNNT1 of HCC patients, respectively. The effect of TNNT1 neutralization on oncogenic behaviors and signaling was further validated in the cultured hepatoma cells. In this study, tumoral and blood TNNT1 was upregulated in HCC patients based on the analyses using bioinformatics, fresh tissues, paraffin sections, and serum. From the multiple bioinformatics tools, the TNNT1 overexpression was associated with advanced stage, high grade, metastasis, vascular invasion, recurrence, and poor survival outcome in HCC patients. By the cell culture and TCGA analyses, TNNT1 expression and release were positively correlated with epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) processes in HCC tissues and cells. Moreover, TNNT1 neutralization suppressed oncogenic behaviors and EMT in hepatoma cells. In conclusion, TNNT1 may serve as a non-invasive biomarker and drug target for HCC management. This research finding may provide a new insight for HCC diagnosis and treatment.

BACKGROUND: Antrodin C, a maleimide derivative compound isolated from the ethanol extract of the mycelium of Antrodia cinnamomea, is an endemic fungus of Taiwan and a potential chemoprotective agent. However, the molecular mechanisms underlying the mode of action of antrodin C on cancer cells, especially in human colorectal cancer (CRC), remain unclear. METHODS: The cell death and ROS of the antrodin-C-treated HCT-116 cells were measured by annexin V-FITC/propidium iodide staining, DCFDA, and Fluo-3 fluorescence staining assays. Moreover, signaling molecules regulating TNFα cell death pathways and ROS/AKT/ERK/P38 pathways were also detected in cells treated with antrodin C by Western blotting and chromatin immunoprecipitation. The effects of antrodin C were determined in HCT-116 cell xenograft animal models in terms of tumor volumes and histopathological evaluation. RESULTS: Treatment with antrodin C triggered the activation of extrinsic apoptosis pathways (TNFα, Bax, caspase-3, and -9), and also suppressed the expression of anti-apoptotic molecules Bcl-2 in HCT-116 cells in a time-dependent manner. Antrodin C also decreased cell proliferation and growth through the inactivation of cyclin D1/cyclin for the arrest of the cell cycle at the G1 phase. The activation of the ROS/AKT/ERK/P38 pathways was involved in antrodin-C-induced transcriptional activation, which implicates the role of the histone H3K9K14ac (Acetyl Lys9/Lys14) of the TNFα promoters. Immunohistochemical analyses revealed that antrodin C treatment significantly induced TNFα levels, whereas it decreased the levels of PCNA, cyclin D1, cyclin E, and MMP-9 in an in vivo xenograft mouse model. Thus, antrodin C induces cell apoptosis via the activation of the ROS/AKT/ERK/P38 signaling modules, indicating a new mechanism for antrodin C to treat CRC in vitro and in vivo.

Plasticizers are considered as environmental pollution released from medical devices and increased potential oncogenic risks in clinical therapy. Our previous studies have shown that long-term exposure to di-ethylhexyl phthalate (DEHP)/mono-ethylhexyl phthalate (MEHP) promotes chemotherapeutic drug resistance in colorectal cancer. In this study, we investigated the alteration of glycosylation in colorectal cancer following long-term plasticizers exposure. First, we determined the profiles of cell surface N-glycomes by using mass spectrometry and found out the alterations of α2,8-linkages glycans. Next, we analyzed the correlation between serum DEHP/MEHP levels and ST8SIA6 expression from matched tissues in total 110 colorectal cancer patients. Moreover, clinical specimens and TCGA database were used to analyze the expression of ST8SIA6 in advanced stage of cancer. Finally, we showed that ST8SIA6 regulated stemness in vitro and in vivo. Our results revealed long-term DEHP/MEHP exposure significantly caused cancer patients with poorer survival outcome and attenuated the expression of ST8SIA6 in cancer cells and tissue samples. As expected, silencing of ST8SIA6 promoted cancer stemness and tumorigenicity by upregulating stemness-associated proteins. In addition, the cell viability assay showed enhanced drug resistance in ST8SIA6 silencing cells treated with irinotecan. Besides, ST8SIA6 was downregulated in the advanced stage and positively correlated with tumor recurrence in colorectal cancer. Our results imply that ST8SIA6 potentially plays an important role in oncogenic effects with long-term phthalates exposure.

Pressure sensing is highly demanding in wearable devices, robotics, and artificial intelligence, whereas it is still a big challenge to develop a pressure sensor with an excellent linear response in a broad detection range. Herein, a flexible and porous carbon nanotube (CNT)/carbon black (CB)/carbonyl iron powder (CIP)/silicone composite is proposed by a simple strategy of mixing, curing, and washing. Due to the porous structure induced by the sacrifice of sugar particles, an excellent linear response (R2 = 0.999) is achieved for the composite sensor by manipulating the contributions of contact resistance and tunnel resistance to the sensing performance via the alternation of CB and CNT contents. Moreover, the porous structure donates the composite sensor a low compressive modulus at a low pressure level, while the CIPs introduced lead to a high compressive modulus at a high pressure level with the assistance of an external magnetic field. As a result, the sensor produced has a wide linear response range of 80 Pa to 220 kPa, much wider than most of the linear response pressure sensors reported previously. The wide detection range is demonstrated by cyclic pressure tests in the frequency range of 0.1-5 Hz, durability tests, and monitoring human or robot motions including breathing, walking, lifting, and boxing, etc. Taking the advantages of low cost, high sensitivity, and excellent linear response in a wide pressure range, the current composite sensor is promising for precise monitoring of human motions and delicate controlling of robots.

BACKGROUND: It is difficult for orthodontists to accurately predict the growth trend of the mandible in children with anterior crossbite. This study aims to develop a deep learning model to automatically predict the mandibular growth result into normal or overdeveloped using cephalometric radiographs. METHODS: A deep convolutional neural network (CNN) model was constructed based on the algorithm ResNet50 and trained on the basis of 256 cephalometric radiographs. The prediction behavior of the model was tested on 40 cephalograms and visualized by equipped with Grad-CAM. The prediction performance of the CNN model was compared with that of three junior orthodontists. RESULTS: The deep-learning model showed a good prediction accuracy about 85%, much higher when compared with the 54.2% of the junior orthodontists. The sensitivity and specificity of the model was 0.95 and 0.75 respectively, higher than that of the junior orthodontists (0.62 and 0.47 respectively). The area under the curve value of the deep-learning model was 0.9775. Visual inspection showed that the model mainly focused on the characteristics of special regions including chin, lower edge of the mandible, incisor teeth, airway and condyle to conduct the prediction. CONCLUSIONS: The deep-learning CNN model could predict the growth trend of the mandible in anterior crossbite children with relatively high accuracy using cephalometric images. The deep learning model made the prediction decision mainly by identifying the characteristics of the regions of chin, lower edge of the mandible, incisor teeth area, airway and condyle in cephalometric images.

AIMS: To determine the effect of design thinking approach in interprofessional education programme of human sexuality course. DESIGN: A pre-test and post-test of single-group quasi-experimental study. METHODS: The 35 nursing students and seven psychology students in their third year were selected by the computer randomly sampling through the lottery method. The course proceeded between September 2019 and January 2020. The participants had received an 8-week, 16-hr design thinking approach in interprofessional education programme of human sexuality course (one section per week, 2 hr per section). We used the nursing attitude toward sexual healthcare scale, nursing intervention toward sexual healthcare scale to assess students' attitude and behaviour intention toward sexual health care and competence of interprofessional education scale to assess students' competence of cooperation before and after the teaching programme. Data analysis used descriptive statistics and t-tests. A qualitative reflection log was also provided and analysed for themes. The SQUIRE-EDU checklist was followed. RESULTS: The students' attitude and behavioural intention dimension score in the post-test is higher than those in the pre-test and reach statistically significant differences both in total and subscale. Interprofessional core competence score of Observation Experience, Reflective Feedback, Interprofessional Cooperation, Innovative Design, and Applied Technology score in the post-test is higher than those in the pre-test and reach statistically significant differences both in total and subscale. Design thinking in interprofessional education programme of human sexuality course could significantly improve both nursing and psychology students' attitude, behaviour intention of providing sexual health care and competence of interprofessional cooperation.

To respond to patients' increasing demands and strengthen nursing professionals' capabilities, nursing students are expected to develop problem-solving skills before they enter the workforce. Problem-based learning (PBL) is expected to provide effective simulation scenarios and realistic clinical conditions to help students achieve those learning goals. This article aims to explore the effects of PBL strategies on nursing students' self-evaluation of core competencies. This longitudinal cohort survey study evaluated 322 nursing students attending Chung Shan Medical University, Taiwan, in 2013 and 2014, where PBL teaching strategies are used in all four undergraduate years from freshman to senior. Based on their undergraduate academic levels, students were categorized into three groups- one-year PBL exposure, two-year PBL exposure, and three-year exposure. A core competency questionnaire was administered twice to ask participants to self-assess five professional competencies: learning attitude, problem identification, information analysis, execution, and life-long learning. The results showed that students with the longest exposure to PBL (Group 3) had higher self-evaluated scores for all core competencies than the other groups, except for the execution competency. The mean total competency score increased by 0.12 points between the pre-and-test. In addition, the mean score increased significantly more in Group 3 than in Groups 1 and 2. These trends were consistent for the information analysis, execution, and life-long learning competencies. In conclusion, the changes in the self-evaluated scores between groups indicate PBL strategies effectively improve nursing students' core competencies. The longest exposure group reported higher self-evaluated core competency scores than the other groups, especially for the information analysis, execution, and life-long learning competencies.

In one-dimensional (1D) systems, electronic interactions lead to a breakdown of Fermi liquid theory and the formation of a Tomonaga-Luttinger Liquid (TLL). The strength of its many-body correlations can be quantified by a single dimensionless parameter, the Luttinger parameter K, characterising the competition between the electrons' kinetic and electrostatic energies. Recently, signatures of a TLL have been reported for the topological edge states of quantum spin Hall (QSH) insulators, strictly 1D electronic structures with linear (Dirac) dispersion and spin-momentum locking. Here we show that the many-body interactions in such helical Luttinger Liquid can be effectively controlled by the edge state's dielectric environment. This is reflected in a tunability of the Luttinger parameter K, distinct on different edges of the crystal, and extracted to high accuracy from the statistics of tunnelling spectra at tens of tunnelling points. The interplay of topology and many-body correlations in 1D helical systems has been suggested as a potential avenue towards realising non-Abelian parafermions.

BACKGROUND/AIMS: A combination of fluorescence two-dimensional difference gel electrophoresis (2D-DIGE) and matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization time of flight mass spectrometry approach was used to search for potential markers for prognosis and intervention of colorectal cancer (CRC) at different stages of lymph node metastasis (LMN). This quantitative proteomic survey aimed to investigate the LNM-associated proteins and evaluate the clinicopathological characteristics of these target proteins in CRC from stage I to stage IV. METHODS: Sixteen CRC cases were categorized into paired non-LNM and LNM groups, and two-dimensional difference gel electrophoresis and MS proteome analysis were performed. Differential protein expression between non-LNM and LNM CRC was further validated in a tissue microarray, including 40 paraffin-embedded samples by immunohistochemistry staining. Moreover, a Boyden chamber assay, flow cytometry, and shRNA were used to examine the epithelial-mesenchymal transition and mechanism invasiveness of the differentially expressed proteins in DLD-1 cells and in vivo xenograft mouse model. RESULTS: Eighteen differentially expressed proteins were found between non-LNM and LNM CRC tissues. Among them, protein levels of Gelsolin (GSN) and peroxiredoxin 4 (PRDX4) were abundant in node-positive CRC. Downregulation of GSN and PRDX4 markedly suppressed migration and invasiveness and also induced cell cycle G1/S arrest in DLD-1. Mechanistically, the EGFR/RhoA/PKCα/ERK pathways are critical for transcriptional activation of histone modification of H3 lysine 4 trimethylation (H3K4me3) of GSN and PRDX4 promoters, resulting in upregulation of GSN, PRDX4, Twist-1/2, cyclinD1, proliferating cell-nuclear antigen, ß-catenin, N-cadherin, and matrix metalloprotein-9. CONCLUSIONS: GSN and PRDX4 are novel regulators in CRC lymph node metastasis to potentially provide new insights into the mechanism of CRC progression and serve as a biomarker for CRC diagnosis at the metastatic stage.

Professionalism is a critical attribute that occupational therapy students must establish throughout education, especially in the context of assistive technology (AT). This study aimed to construct a multidimensional perspectives checklist (MPC) from the stakeholders to reflect professionalism development in the AT service courses. Fifteen experts in AT clinical practice and educators (N = 15) consented to and completed three rounds of the Delphi survey. Data were qualitatively analyzed to form a preliminary checklist in the first round. In rounds two and three, participants rated their level of agreement with the MPC items. A descriptive analysis of consensus was performed. Thirty items were classified into five subscales (teachers, therapists, patients, peers, learners) and fit into a framework with three dimensions and seven categories. After the Delphi survey, the MPC achieved high consensus, convergence, and stability. Two additional categories of professionalism emerged in the study, namely aesthetic and personal characteristics and reflection. The MPC developed in this study reflects the perspectives of various stakeholders in occupational therapy practice, providing helpful information for students to prepare themselves. Therefore, the MPC could contribute to expanding and developing the scope of professionalism in occupational therapy, especially in AT service.

Background: Long-acting injectable antipsychotics (LAIs) may potentially benefit patients requiring psychiatric hospitalization during the early stages of schizophrenia. However, few studies have compared the long-term effectiveness between patients who switched to LAIs and those who remained on oral antipsychotics (OAPs).Methods: Using the Taiwan National Health Insurance Research Database, we constructed a population-based cohort with 19,813 new OAP users with ICD-9-CM-defined schizophrenia who were hospitalized from 2002 to 2005. Within this cohort, 678 patients who switched to LAIs during their hospitalization were identified. The LAI group was matched to patients who remained on OAPs (n = 678). The LAI cohort was further subdivided for analysis into patients who switched to LAIs within 3 years of OAP initiation ("an early stage") and those who switched after 3 years ("a late stage"). Conditional Cox regressions and conditional negative binomial regressions were used to estimate the risk of death and the number of hospital visits between the two groups.Results: During the 13-year study period, 312 patients switched to LAIs within the first 3 years of OAP initiation. All- and natural-cause mortalities in these patients were significantly lower than in those who remained on OAPs. The hazard ratios (HRs) for all- and natural-cause mortalities were 0.49 (95% confidence interval [CI], 0.27-0.87) and 0.30 (95% CI, 0.15-0.60), respectively. No significant decrease associated with LAIs was observed in unnatural-cause mortality. Patients receiving LAIs had lower risks of rehospitalization (incidence rate ratio [IRR] = 0.56, 95% CI, 0.45-0.69), psychiatric hospitalization (IRR = 0.63, 95% CI, 0.50-0.81), and psychiatric emergency room visits (IRR = 0.58, 95% CI, 0.45-0.75) compared to patients who remained on OAPs. Use of LAIs in the late stage of treatment did not decrease the risk of relapse or mortality.Conclusions: Switching to LAIs during the first 3 years of treatment improved antipsychotic adherence, decreased relapses, and reduced long-term mortality. Our results provide evidence to support the benefits of early LAI treatment in schizophrenia.

University Social Responsibility (USR) enhances educational development and the impact of universities on society. As a stakeholder in USR, it is imperative to develop a comprehensive literacy scale that reflects the development of students' citizenship in social engagement. Thus, this study aims to develop and validate the Health Promotion Literacy-based Scale for students in USR (HPLS-USR). A total of 200 students from USR with an average age of 19.27 participated in the study. The Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) was used to verify the scale's construct validity. Twenty-two items were maintained in EFA with an internal consistency Cronbach's α of 0.92. Construct validity was supported by EFA results, confirming that the four-factor structure of the 22-item scale (personal growth, responsibility of citizenship, social interaction, and intellectual growth) have reasonable correlations to each other, explaining 61.83% of the variance in the scale. The Kaiser-Meyer-Olkin index values of 0.908 and Bartlett's Test of Sphericity (p = 0.001) verified the normal distribution of the EFA and the adequacy of the EFA sampling. These items achieved adequate factor loadings ranging between 0.44 and 0.82. This study demonstrated that the HPLS-USR has satisfactory construct validity and reliability in measuring students' literacy abilities developed in USR participation.

Clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC) is the most common RCC subtype with a high mortality. It has been reported that delta-like 1 homologue (DLK1) participates in the tumor microenvironmental remodeling of ccRCC, but the relationship between delta-like 2 homologue (DLK2, a DLK1 homologue) and ccRCC is still unclear. Thus, this study aims to investigate the role of DLK2 in the biological function and disease prognosis of ccRCC using bioinformatics analysis. The TNMplot database showed that DLK2 was upregulated in ccRCC tissues. From the UALCAN analysis, the overexpression of DLK2 was associated with advanced stage and high grade in ccRCC. Moreover, the Kaplan-Meier plotter (KM Plotter) database showed that DLK2 upregulation was associated with poor survival outcome in ccRCC. By the LinkedOmics analysis, DLK2 signaling may participated in the modulation of ccRCC extracellular matrix (ECM), cell metabolism, ribosome biogenesis, TGF-ß signaling and Notch pathway. Besides, Tumor Immune Estimation Resource (TIMER) analysis showed that the macrophage and CD8+ T cell infiltrations were associated with good prognosis in ccRCC patients. Finally, DLK2 overexpression was associated with the reduced macrophage recruitments and the M1-M2 polarization of macrophage in ccRCC tissues. Together, DLK2 may acts as a novel biomarker, even therapeutic target in ccRCC. However, this study lacks experimental validation, and further studies are required to support this viewpoint.
