RESUMO

Sclerotic fibroma of the skin is an uncommon benign tumor characterized histopathologically by a well-circumscribed dermal nodule showing hypocellular hyalinized collagen bundles. The bundles are separated by clefts and arranged in a storiform pattern. The histogenesis of this fibroma is uncertain. Herein, we report a case of sclerotic fibroma presenting on the left ala nasi of a 27-year-old woman without Cowden's disease.

RESUMO

Tufted angioma is a relatively rare hemangioma which mainly occurs in pediatric age. It is slowly-growing over years, with a clinical picture of papule to plaque. Development with an annular configuration is very rare and only five such cases have been reported worldwide. A 64-year-old woman presented with an egg-sized, red, annular lesion on her abdomen which had started as a papule 8 years previously. The biopsy revealed typical histopathological features of tufted angioma. The lesion was treated three times with surgery or cryotherapy and showed recurrence each time over the seven years. During the course it was apparent that the lesion was showing annular extension. We believe the case is the first report of annular tufted angioma showing central regression in Korea. It was also interesting that the benign lesion showed recurrence twice after complete subsidence.

RESUMO

Scars on hair-bearing skin such as the eyebrow produces an unsightly cosmetic appearance because of the absence of hairs on the area. Micropigmentation can be used to overcome the problem effectively because surgical revision, hair transplantation and cosmetic camouflage have some limitations. The use of micropigmentation for medical purpose in Korea has been growing rapidly, but eyebrow scars treated by micropigmnetation have not yet been described in the Korean literature. In this report, we present three cases of eyebrow scars which were treated successfully with micropigmentation.

RESUMO

Although there are many methods for the treatment of actinic cheilitis including cryotherapy, vermilionectomy, and topical fluorouracil, the choice of treatment should be determined after assessment of the lesion and its location. A 67-year old woman developed actinic chelitis, where a thick keratotic plaque occupied a half of her lower lip. Surgical removal of the lesion was difficult because of its size, and repeated cryotherapy treatment also failed. The lesion was then successfully treated by a the topical application of combined fluorouracil and salicylic acid solution.

RESUMO

A 5 month-old, breast-fed, full-term female infant presented with an acral and periorificial dermatitis. Her serum zinc level was low. Her mother's serum zinc level was normal and breast milk zinc was slightly reduced. The infant responded rapidly to zinc therapy. After interruption of zinc therapy, she showed slightly reduced zinc levels, but no relapse, while receiving powdered milk and other baby foods. To maintain zinc serum level, zinc was readministered for 4 weeks. Follow-up zinc levels were normal after discontinuation of the zinc readministration. A diagnosis of transient acrodermatitis enteropathica was made based on the above findings.

RESUMO

Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (EDS) is a group of related conditions that commonly share the decrease of the tensile strength and integrity of the skin, joints and other tissues. We report three cases of EDS. All patients were male, and their presenting symptoms and signs included hyperelasticity and fragility of skin and hypermobility of joints. All cases belonged to type II and classical type. Earlier classification of EDS included up to 11 disorders. Recently, however, a simple classification has been proposed in an attempt to eliminate the confusion associated with the former classification. Till now, 30 cases of EDS have been reported in Korea. The review of the Korean cases revealed that, according to Villefranch classification and Berlin classification, the most common type was type II and classical type, respectively.

RESUMO

Basal cell carcinoma is the most common malignancy in humans. Chronic ultraviolet light exposure is the main factor in the tumorigenesis of basal cell carcinoma and it is most frequently found on the head and neck region. Although basal cell carcinoma can also develop on ultraviolet-protected skin, its occurrence on the scrotum is extremely rare, accounting for less than 0.05% of all basal cell carcinoma cases. We report a rare case of basal cell carcinoma of the scrotum after trauma in a 83-year-old man. He had well-defined, 0.7 x 1.0 cm and 0.4 x 0.6 cm sized pigmented nodules on an atrophic scar of the left scrotal area.

RESUMO

Eccrine spiradenoma is clinically characterized by a slowly growing, deep-seated nodule occurring most frequently on the ventral surface of the body. It is solitary in 95% of cases. Rarely, multiple lesions may be present and may occur in a linear or zosteriform pattern. Until now only two cases of eccrine spiradenoma in zosteriform pattern have been reported in Korean literatures. A 19-year-old male presented with multiple, gray, macular lesions in a zosteriform distribution along his left subscapular area. These 10-years-old lesions gave him occasional paroxysmal pain. Two years later, the lesions became palpable in the subcutis and were diagnosed as eccrine spiradenoma by an excision biopsy. During the 4 years thereafter, the remaining lesions grew slightly and became symptomatic, which resulted in a second surgical removal. We report a rare case of multiple eccrine spiradenomas with zosteriform distribution with observation of 6 years course.

RESUMO

We report a case of vulvar syringoma in a 33-year-old woman who presented with a 1-year history of intermittent pruritus. Examination revealed multiple, bilateral, skin-colored to yellowish papules over the labia majora. Microscopically the lesions showed characteristic histological findings of syringoma. Vulvar syringoma is rare and usually asymptomatic. Herein, We present a rare case of syringoma which was limited to the vulva and sympromatic of intermittent pruritus.

RESUMO

Multiple basal cell carcinoma (mBCC) is a rare skin condition, and the propensity to develop mBCC may be associated with some genodermatoses, arsenic poisoning, and chronic exposure to radiation or coal tar. We experienced two rare and interesting cases of mBCC. One case was a 67-year-old woman, who presented with a twenty year history of numerous, black to brownish crusted patches over the whole body. Histopathologic features of the lesions indicated superficial basal cell carcinoma. The other case was a 70-year-old woman, who had multiple, black to brown colored papules on the face, neck and trunk. Biopsy specimens from lesions revealed histopathologic features of superficial, micronodular and morpheaform basal cell carcinoma.

RESUMO

Basal cell carcinoma is the most common malignant skin cancer in Korea. The lesions are most frequently found in the head and neck region. But penile basal cell carcinoma is very rare and there are only 29 other reported cases. We report a rare case of basal cell carcinoma of the penis in a 76-year-old man. He had a well circumscribed 1.3cmx1.3cm thick scaly plaque with central ulcer in right penile root area for 4 years. The lesion was completely excised and no recurrence for four months.

RESUMO

Untill now occasional cases of jellyfish stings have been reported in Korean literatures but all of the reported patients contracted the stings abroad out of the country. Recently we have found a case of the jellyfish stings first in Korean coastline. The patient was an 11-year-old girl, who got the sting while she was swimming in the southern west coast of the country. The initial skin lesions showed typically whipped appearance and subsided in a month after taking both courses of the immediate toxic reaction and the late allergic reaction. Considering the ecological changes of the sea waters of the Korea, we think the jellyfish stings would occur more frequently also in the country and dermatologists should be familiar with the dermatitis.

RESUMO

Deep palmoplantar warts (Myrmecia) are frequently tender papules or plaques caused by HPV-1. Myrmecia are usually misdiagnosed as paronychia or digital mucous cysts. They occur not only on the palms and soles but also on the lateral aspects and tips of the fingers and toes. We report a rare case of deep palmoplantar wart occurring on proximal nail fold, unusual site of right 5th finger in an 11-year-old girl.
