RESUMO

Bubo-M, the first Russian associated vaccine, was found to have low reactogenicity and high immunogenic potency. The frequency of postvaccinal reactions in the group of persons immunized with Bubo-M (20%) appeared to be considerably lower than among persons who received the combined injection of adsorbed DT toxoid with reduced antigen content and vaccine against hepatitis B (47.7%). Following the course of vaccination the level of anti-HBs considerably exceeded the protective level. Immune response to the diphtheria and tetanus components of Bubo-M exceeded that observed after immunization with absorbed DT toxoid with reduced antigen content (p < 0.05).

RESUMO

Bubo-M, the first Russian combined vaccine, was found to have low reactogenicity. The difference between the number of postvaccinal reactions in the group of children immunized with Bubo-M (25.9%) and those in the group of children who had been simultaneously injected into different sites of the body with ADS-M toxoid (adsorbed DT toxoid with reduced antigen content) and hepatitis B vaccine (26.7%) was not statistically significant. Following immunization a considerable increase in the level of diphtheria and tetanus antibodies (p < 0.005) was observed in all children (100%), the level of HBs antibodies in the group of children immunized with Bubo-M (the geometric mean titer: 13,721 IU/l) essentially exceeding that observed in the control group injected with ADS-M toxoid and hepatitis B vaccine (the geometric mean of the titer: 2,441 IU/l). Bubo-M was duly registered and allowed for industrial production and medical use.

RESUMO

The peculiar features of the clinical course and treatment of primary gastric MALT-lymphoma in 7 patients are discussed. Diagnosis was established by morphological examination of resected material. Six patients had low-grade tumor while one showed signs of blast-transformation. Stage IEB disease was identified in 4 cases, IIEB--3. Complete remission duration after combined surgical and chemoradiation treatment ranged 3.5-80 months (mean duration--35.1 months), survival--5-84 months (mean duration--43.1 months). Relapse was registered in one case 3.5 months after operation.

RESUMO

Clinico-morphological correlations in non-Hodgkin's splenic lymphomas (NHL) have shown that a clinical course and hematological symptoms of splenic NHL correlate with a morphological variant of disease. Blast forms have a more aggressive course. Data on the clinical pathomorphosis of splenic NHL after splenectomy suggest the necessity of administration of postoperative chemo- and radiotherapy for induction of complete remission and improvement of long term therapeutic results.

RESUMO

Both most common and rare varieties of uterine cervix carcinoma were studied light and electron microscopically. It is shown that tumours histologically classified as squamous-cell carcinoma originate either from the squamous epithelium of the ectocervix or from the metaplastic epithelium. Characteristic ultrastructural features of these histogenetic variants of squamous-cell carcinoma are described. The authors' and literature data are presented indicating that the great histological variety of adenocarcinomas and glandular-squamous carcinomas is due to the pluripotential properties of proliferating stem cells capable of forming glandular, solid and squamous-cell structures. The source of clear-cell adenocarcinoma may be not only Gartner's duct but the mullerian epithelium as well. The classification of uterine cervix carcinomas reflecting their histogenesis is proposed.

RESUMO

Basic literature data on the morphology of the uterine cervix dysplasias and their relation to carcinoma in situ are summarized. The features of squamous cell and cambial (metaplastic) dysplasias, their ultrastructure and genesis are presented on the basis of authors' material. The notion "cervical intraepithelial neoplasia" is discussed. The opinion is expressed as to the incorrectness of the classification of dysplasia and carcinoma in situ in one category as the dysplasia is morphological precancer while carcinoma in situ is cancer.

RESUMO

A case of malignant histiocytosis in a man of 32 is described. The diseases had a rapid course, showed marked signs of intoxication, generalized lymphadenopathy, hepatomegaly, jaundice, leukopenia, thrombocytopenia. Specific infiltration with atypic histiocytes with phagocytosis of erythrocytes and their debris, leukocytes, and lipids was found in the lymph nodes, skin, bone marrow, liver, kidneys, heart muscle, and along the lung blood vessels. The final diagnosis of malignant histiocytosis is established by histological examination of the affected tissues (most frequently, lymph nodes).

RESUMO

The paper presents the results of the 10-year follow-up of 1,237 patients at high risk for stomach cancer. Among them, 669 patients suffered from chronic gastric ulcer, 78--polyps, 382--chronic gastritis and 108 underwent resection of the stomach more than 10 years ago. Repeated gastroscopic examinations, including biopsy, carried out within the last two years, revealed malignancies in 405 cases (32,7%): chronic ulcers--10.8, polyps--11.1 and chronic gastritis--0,6%. Malignancy of the gastric stump was observed in 5.0%. In chronic gastritis patients, cancer development was registered in cases of hyperplasia only (4.5%). No malignancy was found in cases of reorganization gastritis and atrophic gastritis.

RESUMO

Some ultrastructural features of cervical dysplasia and carcinoma in situ were revealed by electron microscopic studies of cervix specimens from 24 women. Both types of preinvasive disorders are characterized by alterations in the distribution of nuclear chromatin, the outline of the nuclear membrane, the amount of cytoplasmic organelles, and the mode of cellular attachment. Unlike dysplasia, a great variety of morphological patterns was found in carcinoma in situ which could be subdivided into squamous and reserve cell types. In carcinoma in situ, there was no increase in differentiation of cells and the cell surface up to the outermost layers. The basal membrane was altered only in carcinoma in situ epithelium. The ability of the epithelial cell processes to penetrate through the altered basal membrane and to invade the underlying stroma may be the evidence of the malignancy of cells in carcinoma in situ but not in dysplasia where the basal membrane was unaltered.
