RESUMO

A prompt diagnosis of breast cancer in its earliest phases is necessary for effective treatment. While Computer-Aided Diagnosis systems play a crucial role in automated mammography image processing, interpretation, grading, and early detection of breast cancer, existing approaches face limitations in achieving optimal accuracy. This study addresses these limitations by hybridizing the improved quantum-inspired binary Grey Wolf Optimizer with the Support Vector Machines Radial Basis Function Kernel. This hybrid approach aims to enhance the accuracy of breast cancer classification by determining the optimal Support Vector Machine parameters. The motivation for this hybridization lies in the need for improved classification performance compared to existing optimizers such as Particle Swarm Optimization and Genetic Algorithm. Evaluate the efficacy of the proposed IQI-BGWO-SVM approach on the MIAS dataset, considering various metric parameters, including accuracy, sensitivity, and specificity. Furthermore, the application of IQI-BGWO-SVM for feature selection will be explored, and the results will be compared. Experimental findings demonstrate that the suggested IQI-BGWO-SVM technique outperforms state-of-the-art classification methods on the MIAS dataset, with a resulting mean accuracy, sensitivity, and specificity of 99.25%, 98.96%, and 100%, respectively, using a tenfold cross-validation datasets partition.

RESUMO

The timely and accurate diagnosis of breast cancer is pivotal for effective treatment, but current automated mammography classification methods have their constraints. In this study, we introduce an innovative hybrid model that marries the power of the Extreme Learning Machine (ELM) with FuNet transfer learning, harnessing the potential of the MIAS dataset. This novel approach leverages an Enhanced Quantum-Genetic Binary Grey Wolf Optimizer (Q-GBGWO) within the ELM framework, elevating its performance. Our contributions are twofold: firstly, we employ a feature fusion strategy to optimize feature extraction, significantly enhancing breast cancer classification accuracy. The proposed methodological motivation stems from optimizing feature extraction for improved breast cancer classification accuracy. The Q-GBGWO optimizes ELM parameters, demonstrating its efficacy within the ELM classifier. This innovation marks a considerable advancement beyond traditional methods. Through comparative evaluations against various optimization techniques, the exceptional performance of our Q-GBGWO-ELM model becomes evident. The classification accuracy of the model is exceptionally high, with rates of 96.54 % for Normal, 97.24 % for Benign, and 98.01 % for Malignant classes. Additionally, the model demonstrates a high sensitivity with rates of 96.02 % for Normal, 96.54 % for Benign, and 97.75 % for Malignant classes, and it exhibits impressive specificity with rates of 96.69 % for Normal, 97.38 % for Benign, and 98.16 % for Malignant classes. These metrics are reflected in its ability to classify three different types of breast cancer accurately. Our approach highlights the innovative integration of image data, deep feature extraction, and optimized ELM classification, marking a transformative step in advancing early breast cancer detection and enhancing patient outcomes.

RESUMO

In response to the growing number of diabetes cases worldwide, Our study addresses the escalating issue of diabetic eye disease (DED), a significant contributor to vision loss globally, through a pioneering approach. We propose a novel integration of a Genetic Grey Wolf Optimization (G-GWO) algorithm with a Fully Convolutional Encoder-Decoder Network (FCEDN), further enhanced by a Kernel Extreme Learning Machine (KELM) for refined image segmentation and disease classification. This innovative combination leverages the genetic algorithm and grey wolf optimization to boost the FCEDN's efficiency, enabling precise detection of DED stages and differentiation among disease types. Tested across diverse datasets, including IDRiD, DR-HAGIS, and ODIR, our model showcased superior performance, achieving classification accuracies between 98.5% to 98.8%, surpassing existing methods. This advancement sets a new standard in DED detection and offers significant potential for automating fundus image analysis, reducing reliance on manual examination, and improving patient care efficiency. Our findings are crucial to enhancing diagnostic accuracy and patient outcomes in DED management.

RESUMO

The wormhole attack is one of the most treacherous attacks projected at the routing layer that can bypass cryptographic measures and derail the entire communication network. It is too difficult to prevent a priori; all the possible countermeasures are either too expensive or ineffective. Indeed, literature solutions either require expensive hardware (typically UWB or secure GPS transceivers) or pose specific constraints to the adversarial behavior (doing or not doing a suspicious action). The proposed solution belongs to the second category because the adversary is assumed to have done one or more known suspicious actions. In this solution, we adopt a heuristic approach to detect wormholes in ad hoc networks based on the detection of their illicit behaviors. Wormhole and post wormhole attacks are often confused in literature; that's why we clearly state that our methodology does not provide a defence against wormholes, but rather against the actions that an adversary does after the wormhole, such as packet dropping, tampering with TTL, replaying and looping, etc. In terms of contributions, the proposed solution addresses the knock-out capability of attackers that is less targeted by the researcher's community. In addition, it neither requires any additional hardware nor a change in it; instead, it is compatible with the existing network stack. The idea is simulated in ns2.30, and the average detection rate of the proposed solution is found to be 98-99%. The theoretical time to detect a wormhole node lies between 0.07-0.71 seconds. But, from the simulation, the average detection and isolation time is 0.67 seconds. In term of packet loss, the proposed solution has a relatively overhead of [Formula: see text] 22%. It works well in static and mobile scenarios, but the frame losses are higher in mobile scenarios as compared to static ones. The computational complexity of the solution is O(n). Simulation results advocate that the solution is effective in terms of memory, processing, bandwidth, and energy cost. The solution is validated using statistical parameters such as Accuracy, Precision, F1-Score and Matthews correlation coefficient ([Formula: see text]).

RESUMO

The integration of artificial intelligence (AI) in diagnosing diabetic retinopathy, a major contributor to global vision impairment, is becoming increasingly pronounced. Notably, the detection of vision-threatening diabetic retinopathy (VTDR) has been significantly fortified through automated techniques. Traditionally, the reliance on manual analysis of retinal images, albeit slow and error-prone, constituted the conventional approach. Addressing this, our study introduces a novel methodology that amplifies the robustness and precision of the detection process. This is complemented by the groundbreaking Hierarchical Block Attention (HBA) and HBA-U-Net architecture, which notably propel attention mechanisms in image segmentation. This innovative model refines image processing without imposing excessive computational demands by honing in on individual pixel intricacies, spatial relationships, and channel-specific attention. Building upon this innovation, our proposed method employs a multi-stage strategy encompassing data pre-processing, feature extraction via a hybrid CNN-SVD model, and classification employing an amalgamation of Improved Support Vector Machine-Radial Basis Function (ISVM-RBF), DT, and KNN techniques. Rigorously tested on the IDRiD dataset classified into five severity tiers, the hybrid model yields remarkable performance, achieving a 99.18% accuracy, 98.15% sensitivity, and 100% specificity in VTDR detection, thus surpassing existing methods. These results underscore a more potent avenue for diagnosing and addressing this crucial ocular condition while underscoring AI's transformative potential in medical care, particularly in ophthalmology.

RESUMO

Brain tumors affect the normal functioning of the brain and if not treated in time these cancerous cells may affect the other tissues, blood vessels, and nerves surrounding these cells. Today, a large population worldwide is affected by the precarious disease of the brain tumor. Healthy tissues of the brain are suspected to be damaged because of tumors that become the most significant reason for a large number of deaths nowadays. Therefore, their early detection is necessary to prevent patients from unfortunate mishaps resulting in loss of lives. The manual detection of brain tumors is a challenging task due to discrepancies in appearance in terms of shape, size, nucleus, etc. As a result, an automatic system is required for the early detection of brain tumors. In this paper, the detection of tumors in brain cells is carried out using a deep convolutional neural network with stochastic gradient descent (SGD) optimization algorithm. The multi-classification of brain tumors is performed using the ResNet-50 model and evaluated on the public Kaggle brain-tumor dataset. The method achieved 99.82% and 99.5% training and testing accuracy, respectively. The experimental result indicates that the proposed model outperformed baseline methods, and provides a compelling reason to be applied to other diseases.

RESUMO

Heart disease is one of the key contributors to human death. Each year, several people die due to this disease. According to the WHO, 17.9 million people die each year due to heart disease. With the various technologies and techniques developed for heart-disease detection, the use of image classification can further improve the results. Image classification is a significant matter of concern in modern times. It is one of the most basic jobs in pattern identification and computer vision, and refers to assigning one or more labels to images. Pattern identification from images has become easier by using machine learning, and deep learning has rendered it more precise than traditional image classification methods. This study aims to use a deep-learning approach using image classification for heart-disease detection. A deep convolutional neural network (DCNN) is currently the most popular classification technique for image recognition. The proposed model is evaluated on the public UCI heart-disease dataset comprising 1050 patients and 14 attributes. By gathering a set of directly obtainable features from the heart-disease dataset, we considered this feature vector to be input for a DCNN to discriminate whether an instance belongs to a healthy or cardiac disease class. To assess the performance of the proposed method, different performance metrics, namely, accuracy, precision, recall, and the F1 measure, were employed, and our model achieved validation accuracy of 91.7%. The experimental results indicate the effectiveness of the proposed approach in a real-world environment.

RESUMO

The deployment of wearable or body-worn devices is increasing rapidly, and thus researchers' interests mainly include technical and economical issues, such as networking, interoperability, security, power optimization, business growth and regulation. To address these issues properly, previous survey papers usually focused on describing the wireless body area network architecture and network protocols. This implies that deployment issues and awareness issues of wearable and BAN devices are not emphasized in previous work. To defeat this problem, in this study, we have focused on feasibility, limitations, and security concerns in wireless body area networks. In the aspect of the economy, we have focused on the compound annual growth rate of these devices in the global market, different regulations of wearable/wireless body area network devices in different regions and countries of the world and feasible research projects for wireless body area networks. In addition, this study focuses on the domain of devices that are equally important to physicians, sportsmen, trainers and coaches, computer scientists, engineers, and investors. The outcomes of this study relating to physicians, fitness trainers and coaches indicate that the use of these devices means they would be able to treat their clients in a more effective way. The study also converges the focus of businessmen on the Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) and provides manufacturers and vendors with information about different regulatory bodies that are monitoring and regulating WBAN devices. Therefore, by providing deployment issues in the aspects of technology and economy at the same time, we believe that this survey can serve as a preliminary material that will lead to more advancements and improvements in deployment in the area of wearable wireless body area networks. Finally, we present open issues and further research direction in the area of wireless body area networks.

RESUMO

According to the most recent estimates from global cancer statistics for 2020, liver cancer is the ninth most common cancer in women. Segmenting the liver is difficult, and segmenting the tumor from the liver adds some difficulty. After a sample of liver tissue is taken, imaging tests, such as magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), computer tomography (CT), and ultrasound (US), are used to segment the liver and liver tumor. Due to overlapping intensity and variability in the position and shape of soft tissues, segmentation of the liver and tumor from computed abdominal tomography images based on shade gray or shapes is undesirable. This study proposed a more efficient method for segmenting liver and tumors from CT image volumes using a hybrid ResUNet model, combining the ResNet and UNet models to address this gap. The two overlapping models were primarily used in this study to segment the liver and for region of interest (ROI) assessment. Segmentation of the liver is done to examine the liver with an abdominal CT image volume. The proposed model is based on CT volume slices of patients with liver tumors and evaluated on the public 3D dataset IRCADB01. Based on the experimental analysis, the true value accuracy for liver segmentation was found to be approximately 99.55%, 97.85%, and 98.16%. The authentication rate of the dice coefficient also increased, indicating that the experiment went well and that the model is ready to use for the detection of liver tumors.

RESUMO

Microcalcifications in breast tissue can be an early sign of breast cancer, and play a crucial role in breast cancer screening. This study proposes a radiomics approach based on advanced machine learning algorithms for diagnosing pathological microcalcifications in mammogram images and provides radiologists with a valuable decision support system (in regard to diagnosing patients). An adaptive enhancement method based on the contourlet transform is proposed to enhance microcalcifications and effectively suppress background and noise. Textural and statistical features are extracted from each wavelet layer's high-frequency coefficients to detect microcalcification regions. The top-hat morphological operator and wavelet transform segment microcalcifications, implying their exact locations. Finally, the proposed radiomic fusion algorithm is employed to classify the selected features into benign and malignant. The proposed model's diagnostic performance was evaluated on the MIAS dataset and compared with traditional machine learning models, such as the support vector machine, K-nearest neighbor, and random forest, using different evaluation parameters. Our proposed approach outperformed existing models in diagnosing microcalcification by achieving an 0.90 area under the curve, 0.98 sensitivity, and 0.98 accuracy. The experimental findings concur with expert observations, indicating that the proposed approach is most effective and practical for early diagnosing breast microcalcifications, substantially improving the work efficiency of physicians.
