RESUMO

Depression is more prevalent in women than in men. Perinatal stress is one of the main risk factors for depression in women. However, there is no suitable female model for perinatal depression that uses the social defeat stress (SDS) paradigm. The standard chronic SDS protocol, which is the most useful method for developing a depression-like model, is effective only in male mice. Thus, this study aimed to characterize a novel SDS method for producing a perinatal depression-like model mouse. We induced chronic SDS in perinatal female mice, wherein chronic non-discriminatory SDS (ND-SDS) was used to induce substantial stress in female mice. The female mice were placed in aggressive ICR mouse cages with sentinel male mice under ND-SDS conditions. Stressed female mice subjected to ND-SDS during the perinatal period efficiently exhibited stress-susceptible phenotypes, such as a social avoidance phenotype and anhedonic behavior, whereas stressed female mice subjected to SDS did not show depressive-like behaviors. These results indicate that chronic ND-SDS in perinatal females could be used to develop a female perinatal depression-like model that can be used to study women's health.

The clinical presentation of corticobasal degeneration is diverse, while the background pathology of corticobasal syndrome is also heterogeneous. Therefore, predicting the pathological background of corticobasal syndrome is extremely difficult. Herein, we investigated the clinical findings and course in patients with pathologically, genetically and biochemically verified corticobasal degeneration and corticobasal syndrome with background pathology to determine findings suggestive of background disorder. Thirty-two patients were identified as having corticobasal degeneration. The median intervals from the initial symptoms to the onset of key milestones were as follows: gait disturbance, 0.0 year; behavioural changes, 1.0 year; falls, 2.0 years; cognitive impairment, 2.0 years; speech impairment, 2.5 years; supranuclear gaze palsy, 3.0 years; urinary incontinence, 3.0 years; and dysphagia, 5.0 years. The median survival time was 7.0 years; 50% of corticobasal degeneration was diagnosed as corticobasal degeneration/corticobasal syndrome at the final presentation. Background pathologies of corticobasal syndrome (n = 48) included corticobasal degeneration (33.3%), progressive supranuclear palsy (29.2%) and Alzheimer's disease (12.5%). The common course of corticobasal syndrome was initial gait disturbance and early fall. In addition, corticobasal degeneration-corticobasal syndrome manifested behavioural change (2.5 years) and cognitive impairment (3.0 years), as the patient with progressive supranuclear palsy-corticobasal syndrome developed speech impairment (1.0 years) and supranuclear gaze palsy (6.0 years). The Alzheimer's disease-corticobasal syndrome patients showed cognitive impairment (1.0 years). The frequency of frozen gait at onset was higher in the corticobasal degeneration-corticobasal syndrome group than in the progressive supranuclear palsy-corticobasal syndrome group [P = 0.005, odds ratio (95% confidence interval): 31.67 (1.46-685.34)]. Dysarthria at presentation was higher in progressive supranuclear palsy-corticobasal syndrome than in corticobasal degeneration-corticobasal syndrome [P = 0.047, 6.75 (1.16-39.20)]. Pyramidal sign at presentation and personality change during the entire course were higher in Alzheimer's disease-corticobasal syndrome than in progressive supranuclear palsy-corticobasal syndrome [P = 0.011, 27.44 (1.25-601.61), and P = 0.013, 40.00 (1.98-807.14), respectively]. In corticobasal syndrome, decision tree analysis revealed that 'freezing at onset' or 'no dysarthria at presentation and age at onset under 66 years in the case without freezing at onset' predicted corticobasal degeneration pathology with a sensitivity of 81.3% and specificity of 84.4%. 'Dysarthria at presentation and age at onset over 61 years' suggested progressive supranuclear palsy pathology, and 'pyramidal sign at presentation and personality change during the entire course' implied Alzheimer's disease pathology. In conclusion, frozen gait at onset, dysarthria, personality change and pyramidal signs may be useful clinical signs for predicting background pathologies in corticobasal syndrome.

OBJECTIVES: To clarify the pathophysiology of psychoses after the new administration of antiepileptic drugs (AED), we analyzed the annual incidence, timing of development, and duration of episodes. METHODS: Psychotic outcomes in the first 6-month period after an AED or non-AED administration in patients with focal epilepsy were exhaustively reviewed in eight Japanese neuropsychiatry institutions. In cases with psychotic episodes, the subtype of psychosis, timing of development, previous history of psychosis, and duration of the episode were evaluated. RESULTS: Between 1981 and 2015, 5018 new drugs (4402 AED and 616 non-AED) were administered to 2067 patients with focal epilepsy. In the first 6-month period, 105 psychotic episodes occurred (81 interictal psychosis [IIP] and 24 postictal psychosis). Furthermore, 55 cases were first episodes and 50 were recurrent episodes. The frequency of psychoses is significantly higher after AED administration (n = 102) compared with non-AED administration (n = 3). Psychosis occurred most frequently in the initial 1-month period after new-AED administration and tended to decrease with increasing time. The estimated annual incidence of all psychoses after a new AED administration was 3.5% (2.0% for first-episode psychosis and 1.8% for first-episode IIP). Duration of psychoses (mean, 38.5 weeks) was equivalent to overall IIP. Duration of IIP did not shorten with discontinuation of newly administered AED. SIGNIFICANCE: Patients with epilepsy exhibit psychosis more frequently after new AED administration than after non-AED administration. This study shows the pathophysiology of psychoses after AED administration with annual incidence, the timing of development, and the duration of PAP, which have rarely been reported.

Aim: Transient epileptic amnesia (TEA) is a type of mesial temporal lobe epilepsy characterized by recurrent amnesia attacks. In 1998, Zeman et al. proposed the following diagnostic criteria for TEA: (1) recurrent, witnessed episodes of amnesia (TEA attacks); (2) other cognitive functions remain intact during attacks; and (3) evidence of epilepsy. It was also reported that patients with TEA often demonstrate two other types of memory symptoms: accelerated long-term forgetting (ALF) and autobiographical amnesia (AbA). Both ALF and AbA are persistent memory disorders, but transient epileptic seizures are not. Methods: We encountered two cases of TEA associated with two types of amnesia attacks. Therefore, we reviewed TEA cases in the literature to clarify the type of TEA attacks that occurred. Results: Based on the extracted TEA cases, including our two cases, we found that there are two main types of TEA attacks, and we discussed their clinical features. Conclusion: We propose two main types of TEA attacks; that is, pure amnesia-type and partial amnesia-type seizures. Furthermore, we also propose that topographical amnesia mainly manifests as a type of amnesia attack, rather than as a chronic memory disturbance, such as ALF or AbA.

We performed conventional and molecular cytogenetic studies on the Favitespentagona Esper, 1795, a scleractinian coral mostly found along the west coast of Japan. Karyotype analysis of F.pentagona by G-banding revealed a karyogram containing a homogenously staining region (HSR) on chromosome 10 in more than 50% of the examined metaphase spreads. This HSR consisted of sequences from 18S ribosomal RNA (rRNA) genes, as demonstrated by fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) and DNA sequencing. We highlighted the development of four chromosomal FISH markers from repetitive genes such as U2 small nuclear RNA linked to 5S rRNA sequence (U2 snRNA-5S), 18S rRNA, histone H3, and uncharacterized gene FP-9X. The chromosomal locations of the U2 snRNA-5S and 18S RNA were on the terminal end of long arm of chromosomes 2 and 10, respectively, while the histone H3 and the uncharacterized gene were located near the centromeres of chromosomes 1 and 9, respectively. These FISH markers will improve the karyotyping of F.pentagona from mitotic preparations which helps in widening our understanding of coral genetic structure and chromosome organization. In addition, these improvements in karyotyping will provide the basis in constructing of chromosome-level genome assembly for F.pentagona.

Telomeres are tandem repeats of the TTAGGG sequence at chromosomal ends and afford protection against chromosomal instability. To investigate the contribution of telomere dysfunction in meningiomas, here we estimate the associations between telomere length, tumor grade, and proliferation index in a series of 14 archived samples, using quantitative-fluorescence in situ hybridization, Ki67 immunostaining, and pathological analysis. The number of mitoses per 10 high-power fields (HPF) and Ki67 index was higher in grade III cases than in grade I or grade II cases. Telomere length was negatively associated with both the number of mitoses/10HPF and Ki67 index. Meningioma cases with atypical mitosis, a morphological marker of chromosomal instability, exhibited shortened telomeres. Among telomere-shortened meningioma cases, 40% were grade I, 20% were grade II, and 100% were grade III. In grade I or II meningiomas, shortened telomeres lacked high proliferation activity and atypical mitosis. In conclusion, telomere shortening might be pivotal in the development of high-grade meningioma. Analysis of telomere length might be a selective marker for meningiomas with high-grade malignant potential.

Schizophrenia is a chronic psychiatric disorder that may lead to epilepsy. However, there are limited findings on the issues. This narrative review aimed to provide a practical perspective on epilepsy in patients with schizophrenia using the current treatment systems for epilepsy. While there has been a debate on the relationship between epilepsy and schizophrenia, i.e., antagonism, affinity, and coincidence, recent large cohort studies have revealed a high frequency of epilepsy in patients with schizophrenia (4-5 times higher than that of general population). The high incidence observed is likely to be due to the bidirectionality between epilepsy and schizophrenia and additional schizophrenia-related conditions, e.g., antipsychotic drugs (APD), substance abuse, and head injury. As for symptomatology of epilepsy, only one small-size study showed that seizures of patients with schizophrenia are equivalent to those of patients without schizophrenia. Patients with schizophrenia exhibit the first seizure in their twenties or later, which are mostly focal seizures. Most of seizures in patients with schizophrenia can be controlled with conventional antiepileptic drugs. Few patients with schizophrenia develop treatment-resistant epilepsy. However, since drug interactions can be more complicated due to multiple conditions, such as pre-existing polypharmacy, heavy smoking, irregular eating, and comorbid metabolic disorders, cautious monitoring for clinical symptoms is required. To improve seizure control and adherence, non-pharmacological approaches are also recommended. Thus far, for seizure treatments in patients with schizophrenia, we have to use many empirical findings or substitute certain findings from population without schizophrenia because evidence is insufficient. The accumulation of clinical findings may contribute to the development of efficient treatment systems.

OBJECTIVE: There is a historical debate whether psychopathology of epilepsy psychosis is unique to epilepsy or common to other psychoses. However, a large comprehensive studies on this issue are scarce. To clarify the characteristics of interictal psychosis (IIP), we evaluated psychopathology quantitatively. METHODS: This study included 150 patients with IIP (epilepsy+/psychosis+), 187 patients with schizophrenia (SC: epilepsy-/psychosis+), 182 patients with epilepsy (EP: epilepsy+/psychosis-), and 172 non-clinical individuals (NC: epilepsy-/psychosis-). The IIP group comprised 127 chronic and 23 brief psychoses. Age, sex, and years of education, onset and duration of psychosis, and onset and duration of epilepsy were matched among the groups. The psychopathology was evaluated using the 16-item Brief Psychiatric Rating Scale (BPRS), which comprises three symptom factors namely negative symptoms (NS), positive symptoms (PS), and anxiety-depressive symptoms (ADS). RESULTS: For overall 16-BPRS and NS factor scores, there were significant interactions between epilepsy-related (epilepsy+/-) and psychosis-general (psychosis+/-) effects. The EP exhibited higher scores than did the NC, whereas the IIP exhibited lower scores than did the SC. For PS and ADS factor scores, the IIP and SC exhibited a significant psychosis-general effect. Chronic IIP was associated with more serious psychopathologies than was brief IIP. However, limited with chronic IIP, there was a significant interaction between epilepsy-related and psychosis-general effects on the overall 16-BPRS and NS factor scores. CONCLUSION: These findings demonstrate the first large quantitative evidence on the unique psychopathology of IIP which has been only narratively described. The psychopathology is associated with the interaction between epilepsy-related and psychosis-general effects.

Transient epileptic amnesia (TEA) is a special type of temporal lobe epilepsy, the main symptom of which is recurrent amnesia attacks. In the late 1990s, Zeman et al. developed the following diagnostic criteria for TEA: (i) recurrent, witnessed episodes of amnesia; (ii) other cognitive functions remain intact during attacks; and (iii) evidence of epilepsy. It was subsequently reported that patients with TEA almost always demonstrate two other types of memory symptoms: accelerated long-term forgetting (ALF) and autobiographical amnesia (AbA). As a result, it has been recognised that TEA causes at least three characteristic types of amnesia, that is, amnesia attacks, ALF, and AbA. In this report, we present two clinical cases, in which the patients showed symptoms of ALF and/or AbA without suffering any type of epileptic seizure, including amnesia attacks, for a long time. We discuss a syndrome associated with TEA, particularly the relationship between TEA and ALF/AbA, based on our two cases and a review of the literature. In addition, we propose a new clinical entity, which we named 'transient epileptic amnesia complex syndrome (TEACS)' and will help to ensure that physicians recognise the existence of such cases and do not overlook this condition. Furthermore, the following diagnostic criteria for TEACS are proposed. (i) The patient is middle-aged to elderly at onset and has no history of epilepsy. (ii) ALF and/or AbA have been definitively diagnosed. (iii) The ALF and/or AbA precede TEA attacks and/or other epileptic seizures. (iv) Except for the ALF/AbA, the patient's cognitive functions are confirmed to be intact via clinical examinations. (v) There is evidence for a diagnosis of epilepsy. Such evidence can include: (i) wake or sleep electroencephalography; or (ii) a clear response to anti-epileptic drugs. Furthermore, we describe our hypotheses regarding the pathogenesis of ALF/AbA and discuss the relationships between TEACS and other epileptic amnesia-related syndromes.

The short and similar sized chromosomes of Acropora pose a challenge for karyotyping. Conventional methods, such as staining of heterochromatic regions, provide unclear banding patterns that hamper identification of such chromosomes. In this study, we used short single-sequence probes from tandemly repetitive 5S ribosomal RNA (rRNA) and core histone coding sequences to identify specific chromosomes of Acropora pruinosa. Both the probes produced intense signals in fluorescence in situ hybridization, which distinguished chromosome pairs. The locus of the 5S rDNA probe was on chromosome 5, whereas that of core histone probe was on chromosome 8. The sequence of the 5S rDNA probe was composed largely of U1 and U2 spliceosomal small nuclear RNA (snRNA) genes and their interspacers, flanked by short sequences of the 5S rDNA. This is the first report of a tandemly repetitive linkage of snRNA and 5S rDNA sequences in Cnidaria. Based on the constructed tentative karyogram and whole genome hybridization, the longest chromosome pair (chromosome 1) was heteromorphic. The probes also hybridized effectively with chromosomes of other Acropora species and population, revealing an additional core histone gene locus. We demonstrated the applicability of short-sequence probes as chromosomal markers with potential for use across populations and species of Acropora.

Methionine/methionine type 1 (MM1-type) sporadic Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease (sCJD), known as the 'classic type,' shows typical clinicopathological sCJD findings. In general, patients reach an akinetic mutism state within a few months of disease onset and die soon after if supportive therapies are not administered. Here, we describe remarkable neuropathologic observations of MM1-type sCJD in a 48-year-old, Japanese man with an unusually prolonged akinetic mutism state. In the early disease stages, the patient exhibited abnormal behaviour with gait disturbance and rapidly progressive cognitive dysfunction. Diffusion-weighted magnetic resonance imaging revealed extensive cerebral cortical hyperintensity. Prion protein (PrP) gene analysis revealed no mutations, and the polymorphic codon 129 exhibited methionine homozygosity. Although the patient remained stable with tube feeding for more than 2 years after reaching the akinetic mutism state, he died because of central respiratory failure 30 months after disease onset. Neuropathologic investigation showed extensive devastating lesions, such as status spongiosus, and typical spongiform changes could no longer be observed in the cerebral neocortex. Conspicuous pyramidal tract degeneration was observed. However, the regions commonly preserved in MM1-type sCJD pathology were still relatively preserved. Immunostaining revealed extensive diffuse synaptic-type PrP deposition in the grey matter. The pathological findings suggested that sCJD is a neurodegenerative disease that shows system degeneration; there are primary and secondary degenerative regions and distinct preserved regions, even in cases with prolonged disease duration. In addition, it is considered that there is a limited survival period for MM1-type sCJD, even if active symptomatic treatment is provided.

Age-related regeneration failure in the central nervous system can occur as a result of a decline in remyelination efficacy. The responsiveness of myelin-forming cells to signals for remyelination is affected by aging-related epigenetic modification; however, the molecular mechanism is not fully clarified. In the present study, we report that the apelin receptor (APJ) mediates remyelination efficiency with age. APJ expression in myelin-forming cells is correlated with age-associated changes in remyelination efficiency, and the activation of APJ promotes remyelination through the translocation of myelin regulatory factor. APJ signaling activation promoted remyelination in both aged mice with toxin-induced demyelination and mice with experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis. In human cells, APJ activation enhanced the expression of remyelination markers. Impaired oligodendrocyte function in aged animals can be reversibly reactivated; thus, the results demonstrate that dysfunction of the apelin-APJ system mediates remyelination failure in aged animals, and that their myelinating function can be reactivated by APJ activation.

BACKGROUND: Psychosis often develops after the administration of antiepileptic drugs (AEDs) in patients with epilepsy. However, the individual vulnerability and clinical condition of such patients have been rarely scrutinised. We investigated the effect of individually consistent (trait-dependent) and inconsistent (state-dependent) characteristics. METHODS: The individual characteristics, clinical states and psychotic outcome of patients from eight adult epilepsy clinics were retrospectively reviewed over 6-month periods after a new drug (AED or non-AED) administration between 1981 and 2015. RESULTS: A total of 5018 new drugs (4402 AEDs and 616 non-AEDs) were used in 2015 patients with focal epilepsy. Subsequently, 105 psychotic episodes (81 interictal and 24 postictal) occurred in 89 patients. Twelve patients exhibited multiple episodes after different AED administrations. Trait-dependent characteristics (early onset of epilepsy, known presumed causes of epilepsy, lower intellectual function and a family history of psychosis) were significantly associated with the patients who exhibited psychosis. Absence of family history of epilepsy was also associated with psychosis but not significantly. Subsequent logistic regression analysis with a model incorporating family history of psychosis and epilepsy, and intellectual function was the most appropriate (p=0.000). State-dependent characteristics, including previous psychotic history and epilepsy-related variables (longer duration of epilepsy, AED administration, higher seizure frequency and concomitant use of AEDs) were significantly associated with psychotic episodes. Subsequent analysis found that a model including AED administration and previous psychotic history was the most appropriate (p=0.000). CONCLUSION: Psychosis occurring after new AED administration was related to the individual vulnerability to psychosis and intractability of epilepsy.

Although there have been no reports of facial mimicry in patients with Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease (CJD), we encountered a patient with genetic CJD with prion protein gene codon 180 mutation (V180I gCJD) who apparently showed this interesting clinical finding. The patient was an 87-year-old Japanese woman, and the first observed CJD symptom was poor spontaneity. She gradually showed cognitive dysfunction and subsequently gait disturbance. A prion protein gene analysis revealed a V180I mutation with methionine homozygosity at codon 129. Facial mimicry was observed 7 months after disease onset and continued for approximately 9 months. Pathological laughing and startle reaction were also observed during approximately the same period, whereas myoclonus was observed at a later stage, 12 months after disease onset, and was very mild in degree. Electroencephalography studies showed a diffuse slow basic pattern without periodic sharp wave complexes. Diffusion-weighted magnetic resonance imaging showed extensive hyperintensity in the cerebral cortex, and there was also hyperintensity with edematous swelling in the same regions on T2-weighted and fluid-attenuated inversion recovery images. On the basis of the magnetic resonance imaging findings and the findings of previous case reports of V180I gCJD, we speculate that the characteristic extensive cerebrocortical involvement observed in V180I gCJD was implicated in the pathogenesis of the facial mimicry observed in this case.

OBJECTIVE: Many studies show psychoses after some antiepileptic drug (AED) administrations (post-AED administration psychoses [PAP]). It remains uncertain about psychogenetic potential of each AED and effects of clinical state factors on PAP. We examined the relations between AED-related factors (types, generations, dosages, and concomitant AED) and PAP. METHODS: The clinical records of patients with focal epilepsy were retrospectively reviewed from eight adult epilepsy clinics, for every six-month period after administration of a new drug (either AED or non-AED) between 1981 and 2015. Characteristics of psychotic episodes, AED-related factors (type, daily dosage, and concomitant AED), and other state-related risk factors to psychosis (age, duration of epilepsy, history of psychosis, and seizure frequency) were examined. Psychogenetic risks of AED-related and state-related factors were analyzed with multifactorial procedures. RESULTS: Of 2067 patients with focal epilepsy, 5018 new drugs (4402 AEDs and 616 non-AEDs) were administered. Within the first six-month period, 89 patients exhibited 105 psychotic episodes (81 interictal and 24 postictal psychoses: 55 first episodes and 50 recurrences). With second-generation AED (SAED) administration, particularly topiramate and lamotrigine, frequency of psychosis was significantly increased. Daily dosage of AED was not significantly associated with psychosis. Psychosis tended to occur with a higher number of concomitant AED. Subsequent analysis with AED-related and general factors showed that SAED administrations and previous psychotic history were the most significant risks for PAP. CONCLUSION: Post-AED administration psychoses is associated with type of AED (SAED), rather than its dosage. Individual vulnerabilities are also associated with PAP.

A Japanese woman showed slowly progressive memory disturbance starting at the age of 84 years, and disorientation gradually appeared. Head computed tomography revealed severe hippocampal atrophy, whereas the atrophy of the frontal lobe was considerably mild for her age. Behavioral and psychological symptoms of dementia were relatively inconspicuous during the disease course. Apolipoprotein E gene analysis showed ε3/ε4 heterozygosity. She died at the age of 100 years and she was clinically diagnosed as having Alzheimer's disease (AD). Autopsy revealed numerous neurofibrillary tangles, particularly in the hippocampal region, and extensively distributed senile plaques in the brain. Although the findings were compatible with the pathological criteria for AD, combined pathologies of hippocampal sclerosis, trans-activation response DNA-binding protein 43 kDa, and α-synuclein were also revealed. We believe that the clinicopathological findings of the present case are of significance for the diagnosis of elderly dementia and pathogenesis of AD.

BACKGROUND: Plasma removal by washing is an effective approach to prevent transfusion reactions by platelet concentrates (PCs). Recently, washed PCs were released by the Japanese Red Cross Society (JRCS). MATERIALS AND METHODS: This retrospective multicenter study evaluated the efficacy and safety of released washed PCs (RWPCs) between September 2016 and January 2017 in Japan. The RWPCs were prepared by washing leukoreduced apheresis PCs with the platelet additive solution, BRS-A, using automated cell processors. RESULTS: Clinical data were obtained from 91 patients and 1210 RWPC transfusions at 50 institutions. The median number of RWPC transfusions per patient was 8 (range, 1-91). RWPCs were used in 94.5% of the patients with a history of recurrent or severe transfusion reactions for preventing such reactions. Responses of RWPCs were evaluated as complete response (91.6%), partial response (8.2%), no-change (0.2%), and progression (0%) and overall response was equal across subgroups divided by patients' profiles. The median corrected count increment (CCI) at 1 and 24 h post-transfusion were 13.5 (range, 1.9-35.4) × 109/L and 3.5 (range, -13 to 53.6) × 109/L, respectively, and median CCI at 24 h was 5.5 (range, -13 to 53.6) × 109/L in patients without risk factors associated with platelet transfusion refractoriness. Transfusion reactions to RWPCs were observed in only nine transfusions (0.7%), all of which were mild allergic reactions. CONCLUSION: This study demonstrated that RWPCs were effective and safe in patients with a history of transfusion reactions. Further prospective studies on efficacy together with cost-benefit analysis in RWPCs are needed.

This case report describes a Japanese man who presented with slowly progressive memory disturbances that began at the age of 79 years. The man also displayed conspicuous behaviour and psychological symptoms in the early stage of dementia. Computed tomography revealed atrophy of the amygdala and severe hippocampal deterioration, particularly in the anterior portion. Lateral ventricular dilatation, mainly affecting the anterior and inferior horns, was also observed. Interestingly, cerebral neocortical atrophy in the frontal and temporal lobes was considerably mild for the patient's age. Apolipoprotein E gene analysis showed epsilon 3 homozygosity. The patient died at the age of 96 years, and his clinical diagnosis was Alzheimer's disease with severe behavioural and psychological symptoms of dementia. In addition to indicating considerable hippocampal atrophy, an autopsy revealed numerous neurofibrillary tangles and argyrophilic grains in the brain, as well as extensive senile plaques. Cerebral amyloid angiopathy was also recognized. The pathological findings were suggestive of both Alzheimer's disease and argyrophilic grain dementia; other neurodegenerative disorders were not apparent. The clinicopathologic findings of the present case suggest significant consideration should be made when determining the clinical diagnosis and pathogenesis of senile dementia.
