RESUMO

Remotely sensed interplanetary scintillation (IPS) data from the Institute for Space-Earth Environmental Research (ISEE), Japan, allows a determination of solar-wind parameters throughout the inner heliosphere. We show the 3D analysis technique developed for these data sets that forecast plasma velocity, density, and component magnetic fields at Earth, as well at the other inner heliospheric planets and spacecraft. One excellent coronal mass ejection (CME) example that occurred on the 10 March 2022 was viewed not only in the ISEE IPS analyses, but also by the spacecraft near Earth that measured the CME arrival at one AU. Solar Orbiter, that was nearly aligned along the Earth radial at 0.45 AU, also measured the CME in plasma density, velocity, and magnetic field. BepiColombo at 0.42 AU was also aligned with the STEREO A spacecraft, and viewed this CME. The instruments used here from BepiColombo include: 1) the European-Space-Agency Mercury-Planetary-Orbiter magnetic field measurements; 2) the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency Mio spacecraft Solar Particle Monitor that viewed the CME Forbush decrease, and the Mercury Plasma Experiment/Mercury Electron Analyzer instruments that measured particles and solar-wind density from below the spacecraft protective sunshield covering. This article summarizes the analysis using ISEE, Japan real-time data for these forecasts: it provides a synopsis of the results and confirmation of the CME event morphology after its arrival, and discusses how future IPS analyses can augment these results.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Intercultural differences influence acute inpatient psychiatric care systems. AIMS: To evaluate characteristics of acute inpatient care in a German and a Japanese hospital. METHOD: Based on a sample of 465 admissions to the Psychiatric State Hospital Regensburg (BKR) and 91 admissions to the Hirakawa Hospital (HH) over a six-month period in 2008, data from the psychiatric basic documentation system (BADO) were analysed with regard to socio-demographic characteristics, treatment processes and outcome indicators. RESULTS: Schizophrenia and related psychosis was the most common diagnosis in both hospitals. Cases at the BKR were admitted more quickly after onset of the present episode. Global Assessment of Psychosocial Functioning (GAF) ratings at admission were lower at the HH. Most admissions to both hospitals received psychopharmacological treatment, but more at the HH received psychotherapy. Length of stay was significantly longer at the HH (75 days) than at the BKR (28 days). Admissions to the HH were more improved with regard to GAF and clinical global impression (CGI). CONCLUSIONS: Acute admissions in Germany provide intensive care with short hospitalization as crisis intervention. For acute admissions in Japan, comprehensive care for severe mental illness precedes emergency admissions and achieves greater improvement with longer hospitalization.

RESUMO

PURPOSE: To elucidate whether thrombocytopenia in 22q11.2 deletion syndrome patients is associated with the hemizygosity of glycoprotein Ib-beta and to clarify the correlation of phenotype and genotype of this gene in 22q11.2 deletion syndrome patients with thrombocytopenia. METHODS: Platelet number, mean platelet volume, platelet agglutination, and the protein level of glycoprotein Ib-beta were measured in 22q11.2 deletion syndrome patients and controls. Phenotypes other than that of thrombocytopenia were also analyzed in these patients. RESULTS: The 22q11.2 deletion syndrome patients with thrombocytopenia had a larger mean platelet volume, lower agglutination to ristocetin, and lower protein level of glycoprotein Ib-beta than control patients. The 22q11.2 deletion syndrome patients with thrombocytopenia showed an increased risk of developing schizophrenia. CONCLUSIONS: Thrombocytopenia in 22q11.2 deletion syndrome patients is associated with decreased expression of glycoprotein Ib-beta because of the hemizygosity. 22q11.2 deletion syndrome patients with thrombocytopenia require total management, especially for schizophrenia.
