RESUMO

Temperature is one of the seven fundamental physical quantities. The ability to measure temperatures approaching absolute zero has driven numerous advances in low-temperature physics and quantum physics. Currently, millikelvin temperatures and below are measured through the characterization of a certain thermal state of the system as there is no traditional thermometer capable of measuring temperatures at such low levels. In this study, we develop a kind of diamond with sp2-sp3 composite phase to tackle this problem. The synthesized composite phase diamond (CPD) exhibits a negative temperature coefficient, providing an excellent fit across a broad temperature range, and reaching a temperature measurement limit of 1 mK. Additionally, the CPD demonstrates low magnetic field sensitivity and excellent thermal stability, and can be fabricated into probes down to 1 micron in diameter, making it a promising candidate for the manufacture of next-generation cryogenic temperature sensors. This development is significant for the low-temperature physics researches, and can help facilitate the transition of quantum computing, quantum simulation, and other related technologies from research to practical applications.

RESUMO

PURPOSE: To evaluate the clinical implication of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)-derived skeletal muscle index (SMI) in locoregionally advanced nasopharyngeal carcinoma (LANPC) patients undergoing induction chemotherapy (IC) followed by concurrent chemoradiotherapy (CCRT) and further to develop a nomogram for predicting survival prognosis. METHODS: SMI was determined through baseline MRI at the third cervical level. The nomogram was based on a training cohort involving 409 LANPC patients. We validated the prognostic accuracy of this prognostic model in an internal validation cohort (n = 204) and an external independent cohort (n = 272). RESULTS: SMI was an independent risk factor for OS. A prognostic model comprising age, TNM stage and SMI for individual survival prediction was developed and graphically represented as a nomogram. The model showed favorable discrimination (C-index: 0.686), predictive accuracy [time dependent area under the curve (tAUC) at 5 years: 0.70], and calibration, and was further validated in the internal and external validation datasets. A risk stratification derived from the model stratified these patients into three prognostic subgroups with significantly different survival. CONCLUSIONS: Low SMI accessed by MRI was significantly associated with poor overall survival in LANPC patients undergoing IC + CCRT. Moreover, we established and validated a novel nomogram involving age, TNM stage and SMI that could provide accurate prognostic stratification among this population.

RESUMO

Gelation is a promising method to assemble 3D macroscopic structures from MXene sheets for various applications. However, the fine control and scalable manufacturing of 3D MXene monoliths remains a great challenge. Herein, the controllable gelation of Ti3C2Tx MXene initiated by various ionic liquids (ILs) is first proposed, where the IL serve as linkers to bond the nanosheets together through electrostatic and hydrogen bonding interactions, forming 3D monoliths with well-adjustable structure. Furthermore, density functional theory calculations and experiments further reveal the cross-linking effect of different ILs. Typically, 3D porous structure with high specific surface area, suitable pore size, and improved electrolyte affinity is designed through the cross-linking of Ti3C2Tx with 1-vinyl-3-ethylimidazole bromide ([C2VIm]Br-Ti3C2Tx). Due to the strong coupling, the as-synthesized monolith possesses excellent rate performance and high energy density. The methodology is quite flexible, controllable, and universal that provides a new perspective for promoting innovative applications of 2D materials.

RESUMO

The widespread presence of microplastics (MPs) contamination in drinking water has raised concerns regarding water safety and public health. In this study, a micro-Raman spectrometer was used to trace the occurrence of MP transport from a water source to a drinking water treatment plant (DWTP)1 with an advanced treatment process and DWTP2 with a conventional treatment process and the contributions of different processes to the risk reduction of MPs were explored. Six types of MPs were detected: polyethylene terephthalate, polyethylene, polypropylene, polystyrene, polyamide, and polyvinyl chloride. 2-5 µm (35.8-41.2%) and polyethylene terephthalate (27.1-29.9%) were the most frequently detected MP sizes and types of water source samples, respectively. The abundance of MPs in treated water decreased by 72.7-83.0% compared to raw water. Ozonation and granular activated carbon (52.7%), and sand filtration (47.5%) were the most effective processes for removing MPs from DWTP1 and DWTP2, respectively. Both DWTPs showed significant removal effects on polyethylene terephthalate, with 80.0-88.1% removal rates. The concentrations of polystyrene increase by 30.0-53.4% after chlorination. The dominant components in the treated water of DWTP1 and DWTP2 were polypropylene (24.7%) and polyethylene 27.7%, respectively, and MPs of 2-5 µm had the highest proportion (55.3-64.3%). Pollution load index and potential ecological risk index of raw water treated by DWTPs were reduced by 48.0-58.7% and 94.5-94.7%, respectively. The estimated daily intake of MPs in treated water for infants was 45.5-75.0 items/kg/d, respectively, approximately twice that of adults. This study contributes to the knowledge gap regarding MP pollution in drinking water systems.

RESUMO

The twin boundary, a common lattice plane of mirror-symmetric crystals, may have high reactivity due to special atomic coordination. However, twinning platinum and iridium nanocatalysts are grand challenges due to the high stacking fault energies that are nearly 1 order of magnitude larger than those of easy-twinning gold and silver. Here, we demonstrate that Turing structuring, realized by selective etching of superthin metal film, provides 14.3 and 18.9 times increases in twin-boundary densities for platinum and iridium nanonets, comparable to the highly twinned silver nanocatalysts. The Turing configurations with abundant low-coordination atoms contribute to the formation of nanotwins and create a large active surface area. Theoretical calculations reveal that the specific atom arrangement on the twin boundary changes the electronic structure and reduces the energy barrier of water dissociation. The optimal Turing-type platinum nanonets demonstrated excellent hydrogen-evolution-reaction performance with a 25.6 mV overpotential at 10.0 mA·cm-2 and a 14.8-fold increase in mass activity. And the bifunctional Turing iridium catalysts integrated in the water electrolyzer had a mass activity 23.0 times that of commercial iridium catalysts. This work opens a new avenue for nanocrystal twinning as a facile paradigm for designing high-performance nanocatalysts.

RESUMO

The relationship between initial Homo sapiens dispersal from Africa to East Asia and the orbitally paced evolution of the Asian summer monsoon (ASM)-currently the largest monsoon system-remains underexplored due to lack of coordinated synthesis of both Asian paleoanthropological and paleoclimatic data. Here, we investigate orbital-scale ASM dynamics during the last 280 thousand years (kyr) and their likely influences on early H. sapiens dispersal to East Asia, through a unique integration of i) new centennial-resolution ASM records from the Chinese Loess Plateau, ii) model-based East Asian hydroclimatic reconstructions, iii) paleoanthropological data compilations, and iv) global H. sapiens habitat suitability simulations. Our combined proxy- and model-based reconstructions suggest that ASM precipitation responded to a combination of Northern Hemisphere ice volume, greenhouse gas, and regional summer insolation forcing, with cooccurring primary orbital cycles of ~100-kyr, 41-kyr, and ~20-kyr. Between ~125 and 70 kyr ago, summer monsoon rains and temperatures increased in vast areas across Asia. This episode coincides with the earliest H. sapiens fossil occurrence at multiple localities in East Asia. Following the transcontinental increase in simulated habitat suitability, we suggest that ASM strengthening together with Southeast African climate deterioration may have promoted the initial H. sapiens dispersal from their African homeland to remote East Asia during the last interglacial.

RESUMO

We investigated the stability of a soy protein isolate (SPI)/soy hull polysaccharide (SHP) composite and its effect on the quality of fermented products. Sonication contributed to a more stable SPI/SHP composite. Increasing SHP concentrations increased the viscoelasticity of the emulsions and decreased turbiscan stability index (TSI) values, indicating that SHP improved the emulsification and stability of the composite emulsions. The fermented products with SHP had an increased ability to bind to water. Hardness, gelling, chewiness, sourness, and astringency increased with polysaccharide addition. Additionally, SHP promoted acid production by lactic acid bacteria during storage. All groups had viscoelastic behavior (G' ˃ G″, tan δ < 1), with viscosity increasing and subsequently decreasing. TSI values were significantly lower in the treated groups than in the control group. The results revealed that SHP improved the sensory quality and storage stability of fermented products.

RESUMO

Pathological platelet activation plays a vital role in the prevalence of cardiovascular diseases. Hydroxysafflor yellow A (HSYA) has been shown to have significant anti-platelet aggregation and anti-activation effects, but its mechanism of action is unclear. Our study showed that HSYA inhibited the expression of platelet surface glycoproteins IIß/III α (GPIIß/III α) and thromboxane A2 (TXA2) during platelet activation and reduced platelet Ca2+ accumulation. HSYA significantly reduced the number of platelets and inhibited adrenaline-induced platelet hyperaggregation in rats. Transcriptomic analysis of platelets suggested that HSYA significantly suppressed SRC and MAPK3 (ERK1/2) gene expression. YEEI peptide, an SRC activator, could significantly reverse the inhibition of HSYA on the phosphorylation of SRC/PLCγ2/PKCδ/MEK/ERK1/2 pathway proteins and reverse the effect of HSYA on platelet activation-related markers GPIIß/IIIα protein, TXA2 and cAMP. The SRC genes were further predicted by transcriptome analysis of HSYA-regulated miRNAs combined with bioinformatics techniques. The results suggested that HSYA could significantly upregulate the expression level of the miR-9a-5p gene and further confirmed that miR-9a-5p had a targeted regulatory relationship with SRC by dual-luciferase activity reporter and cell transfection experiments. The inhibitory effect of HSYA on the SRC/PLCγ2/PKCδ/MEK/ERK1/2 pathway was significantly reversed after platelets were transfected with the miR-9a inhibitor, while SRC siRNA attenuated the effect of the miR-9a inhibitor. SRC siRNA was able to attenuate the effect of the miR-9a inhibitor. In conclusion, this study suggests that HSYA can inhibit the activation of the SRC/PLCγ2/PKC δ/MEK/ERK1/2 axis by upregulating platelet miR-9a-5p, thereby reducing the activation of platelets and inhibiting platelet aggregation.

RESUMO

For the first time, an ionic liquid was grafted onto Ti3C2Tx MXene interlayers (MXene-g-IL) using a radiation technique. The IL was tightly immobilized on the surface of MXene nanosheets via chemical linkage, which exhibited excellent specific capacitance (160 F g-1 at 5 mV s-1) and improved structural stability (maintaining the sheet-like structure for 180 days). The facile, efficient, and scalable synthetic strategy derived from the radiation technique can open a new avenue for covalent functionalization of MXene-based materials and promote their further application.

RESUMO

PURPOSE: Carotid artery invasion (CAI) has been demonstrated to be an important prognosticator in some head and neck cancers. This study aimed to examine the prognostic value of radiologic CAI (rCAI) by cervical lymphadenopathy in nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC). METHODS: NPC patients treated between January 2013 and December 2016 were included. Pre-treatment MRIs were reviewed for cervical rCAI according to the radiologic criteria. Univariate and multivariate models were constructed to assess the association between cervical rCAI and clinical outcomes. A new N classification system was proposed and compared to the 8th AJCC system. RESULTS: The percentage of patients with MRI-positive lymph nodes was 84.7% (494/583), of whom cervical rCAI cases accounted for 42.3% (209/494). Cervical rCAI was associated with significantly poorer OS, DFS, DFFS and RFFS compared to non-rCAI (P < 0.05). Multivariate analyses confirmed that cervical rCAI was an independent prognosticator for DFS and DFFS, surpassing other nodal features, such as laterality, size, cervical node necrosis (CNN) and radiologic extranodal extension (rENE), while location of positive LNs remained independently associated with OS, DFS and DFFS. We propose a refined N classification: New_N1: upper neck LNs only without cervical rCAI; New_N2: upper neck LNs only with cervical rCAI; New_N3: upper and lower LNs. The proposed classification broadened the differences in OS, DFS and DFFS between N1 and N2 disease, and achieved a higher c-index for DFS and DFFS. CONCLUSIONS: Cervical rCAI was an independent unfavorable indicator of NPC. Compared to the AJCC system, the proposed N category showed satisfactory stratification between N1 and N2 disease, and better prediction of distant metastasis and disease failure.

RESUMO

A set of high-molecular-weight glutenin subunit (HMW-GS) deletion lines were used to investigate the influences of HMW-GS on wheat gluten, and dough properties were investigated using a set of HMW-GS deletion lines. Results showed that HMW-GS deletion significantly decreased the dough stability time, as well as viscoelastic moduli (G' and G″), compared with the wild type, where the deletion of x-type HMW-GSs (Ax1d, Bx7d, and Dy12d) decreased more than y-type HMW-GSs (By8d and Dy12d). The deletion of HMW-GS significantly decreased HMW-GS contents and increased α-/γ-gliadin contents. A proteomic study showed that the HMW-GS deletion down-regulated the HMW-GS, ß-amylase, serpins, and protein disulfide isomerase and up-regulated the LMW-GS, α/γ-gliadin, and α-amylase inhibitor. Meanwhile, HMW-GS deletion significantly decreased contents of ß-turn and ß-sheet. In addition, less energetically stable disulfide conformations (trans-gauche-gauche and trans-gauche-trans) were abundant in HMW-GS deletion lines. Furthermore, analysis of five HMW-GSs based on amino acid sequences proved that Dx2 and Bx7 had a more stable structure, followed by Ax1, then Dy12, and finally By8.

RESUMO

Hereditary factor VII (FVII) deficiency is a rare recessive bleeding disorder with an estimated prevalence of 1/500 000. We had investigated 50 unrelated Chinese patients with FVII deficiency and identified, in total, 25 mutations, including 18 missense mutations and 5 splicing mutations, on the F7 gene. The nucleotide transition c.1224T>G (p.His408Gln) in exon 9 constitutes a hotspot of mutation, with 19 patients harbouring this genetic variance. Few patients were homozygous or compound heterozygous for deleterious mutations, such as non-sense mutations, large insertion or deletions, indicating that complete deficiency of FVII may not be compatible with life. The eight novel mutations identified in the study, including one small deletion (p.Glu49GlyfsTer101), three type I missense mutations, p.Cys238Phe, p.Gly420Asp, p.Ala252Val and four type II missense mutations, p.Val336Met, p.Ser342Gly, p.Gly432Ser and p.Ile213Asn, were further analysed by in vitro expression and functional studies. The laboratory phenotype and structural analysis confirmed the functional consequence of p.Ile213Asn mutation involving cleavage and activation site. The molecular dynamic simulations and binding energy calculations along with functional probing of p.Gly432Ser mutation revealed the critical role of residue Gly432 in the binding between activated factor VII (factor VIIa) and tissue factor.

RESUMO

Anaerobic digestion of lipid-rich wastewater generally suffers from foaming induced by long chain fatty acid (LCFA). However, a systematic understanding of LCFA inhibition, especially the physical inhibition on interfacial interaction still remains unclear. Here, we combined bubble probe atomic force microscope and impinging-jet technique to unravel the interfacial interactions controlled by long chain fatty acids in anaerobic digestion. We showed that LCFA had a significant inhibition on methane production in anaerobic reactors for the inhibition of the conversion of VFAs to methane. By measuring the LCFA influence on methanogenic archaea Methanosarcina acetivorans C2A, the results demonstrated that methanogenesis was limited for substrates utilization but not metabolic pathways. The impinging-jet technique results indicated that LCFA enhanced bubble separation from anaerobic granules and reduced the bubble-bubble coalescence probability. In addition, the bubble probe atomic force microscope (AFM) revealed that LCFA enhanced the adhesion force between bubbles by enhancing electrical double layer (EDL) repulsion and decreasing hydrophobic interactions. Overall, these results complement framework of LCFA inhibition in anerobic digestion and provide a nanomechanical insight into the fundamental interfacial interactions related to bubbles in anaerobic reactors.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: The effect of anesthesia regimens on postoperative delirium after on-pump cardiac valve surgery is yet undetermined. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of volatile anesthesia compared with propofol-based total intravenous anesthesia (TIVA) on the occurrence of delirium after on-pump cardiac valve surgery. METHODS: This randomized clinical trial was conducted at a university academic hospital in China, from February 2019 to January 2021. Patients scheduled for on-pump cardiac valve surgery or combined valve with coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) surgeries were randomly assigned to receive anesthesia maintenance with either a volatile anesthetic (sevoflurane or desflurane) or propofol-based TIVA. The primary outcome was the incidence of delirium during the first 7 days after surgery, assessed using the confusion assessment method for the intensive care unit (ICU). The secondary outcomes included duration of delirium, subtypes of delirium, 30-day mortality, pain score, major morbidity (including cerebral infarction, respiratory failure, and pneumonia), duration of mechanical ventilation, and lengths of ICU and hospital stay. The statistical analysis of the primary outcome variable was by Pearson's χ 2 test. RESULTS: Among the 684 patients analyzed (mean age, 53.8 years; 381 [55.7%] women), 676 were assessed for the primary outcome. Postoperative delirium occurred in 63 of 337 (18.7%) patients receiving volatile anesthesia versus 76 of 339 (22.4%) patients receiving propofol-based TIVA (relative risk, 0.80; 95% confidence interval [CI], 0.55-1.16; P = .231). There were no significant differences between the groups in any of the secondary outcomes. CONCLUSIONS: Among patients undergoing on-pump cardiac valve surgery, anesthesia maintenance with a volatile agent did not result in significantly fewer occurrences of postoperative delirium than propofol-based TIVA.

RESUMO

To investigate the contributions of cognitive flexibility, inhibition and number label knowledge to children's numerical equivalence, one hundred and one 3- to 5-year-olds were administered the dimensional change card sorting task, the day-night task and the give-a-number task. The numerical equivalence was assessed with the numerical matching task in three surface similarity conditions. Results showed that, in the high surface similarity condition, cognitive flexibility and label knowledge, rather than inhibition, were significant predictors of children's performance in numerical equivalence. In the low surface similarity and the cross-mapping conditions, only cognitive flexibility, rather than number label knowledge and inhibition, significantly explained the unique variance in numerical equivalence. Besides, cognitive flexibility explained more variation in numerical equivalence in the cross-mapping condition compared with the low surface similarity condition. These findings highlight different roles of cognitive flexibility, inhibition and number label knowledge in numerical equivalence in the three surface similarity conditions.

RESUMO

The effectiveness of cancer nanotherapeutics is greatly restricted by the dense collagen network in solid tumors. Pirfenidone (PFD) is a clinically approved oral antifibrotic agent widely used to treat idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis. To investigate whether PFD can enhance the penetration and tumor delivery efficiency of Pegylated liposomal doxorubicin (PLD), colorectal cancer xenograft mice were administered PFD, PLD, or combined regimens. As expected, high-dose PFD (H-PFD, 270 mg/kg/day) combined with PLD (H-PFD + PLD) exhibited a significantly higher tumor inhibition rate than PLD monotherapy (75.09% vs. 60.87%). Similarly, the intra-tumoral doxorubicin level was markedly elevated using H-PFD pretreatment, which induced over 34% elevation compared to PLD treatment alone (3.37 ± 0.41 vs. 2.51 ± 0.19 µg/mL). Additionally, Masson's trichrome staining and immunohistochemistry results of the H-PFD + PLD group revealed an attenuation of collagen deposition in vivo, and the in vitro TGF-ß1, α-SMA, and collagen protein expression were inhibited using PFD treatment. In contrast, although low-dose PFD (60 mg/kg/day) did not present superior benefits in promoting PLD penetration into tumors, it did downregulate collagen expression in vivo. This study provides a new strategy for PFD combined with chemotherapeutic drugs to improve the antitumor efficacy of nanomedicines.

RESUMO

In this study, bifunctional magnetic ZnCdSe/ZnS quantum dots nanocomposite (MQNs) were synthesized, and firstly used to develop a lateral flow immunoassay (LFIA) for streptomycin (STR) and dihydrostreptomycin (DHSTR) detection in milk, muscle, liver, kidney, and honey simultaneously. The fluorescence signal of MQNs was 9-fold stronger than that of the original quantum dots. The detection limits of the established MQNs-LFIA for STR and DHSTR in five samples were 0.08-1.78 µg/kg, the quantitation limits were 0.26-5.87 µg/kg, the recoveries were between 85.0% and 120.0%, and the coefficient of variations were between 0.8% and 19.3%, respectively. The sensitivity was up to 42-fold more sensitive than the reported LFIAs. The single blind test results of 25 samples were consistent with that of the confirmation method (R2 ≥ 0.99). Besides, a portable reader was self-developed and used for rapid quantification. Our study demonstrated MQNs as a promising signal-amplifying tag can be used for ultrasensitive detection of chemical contaminants in foods.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND AND AIMS: A better understanding of the underlying mechanism of acetaminophen (APAP)-induced liver injury (AILI) remains an important endeavor to develop therapeutic approaches. Eosinophils have been detected in liver biopsies of patients with APAP overdose. We recently demonstrated a profound protective role of eosinophils against AILI; however, the molecular mechanism had not been elucidated. APPROACH AND RESULTS: In agreement with our previous data from experiments using genetic deletion of eosinophils, we found that depletion of eosinophils in wild-type (WT) mice by an anti-IL-15 antibody resulted in exacerbated AILI. Moreover, adoptive transfer of eosinophils significantly reduced liver injury and mortality rate in WT mice. Mechanistic studies using eosinophil-specific IL-4/IL-13 knockout mice demonstrated that these cytokines, through inhibiting interferon-γ, mediated the hepatoprotective function of eosinophils. Reverse phase protein array analyses and in vitro experiments using various inhibitors demonstrated that IL-33 stimulation of eosinophils activated p38 mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK), and in turn, cyclooxygenases (COX), which triggered NF-κB-mediated IL-4/IL-13 production. In vivo adoptive transfer experiments showed that in contrast to naive eosinophils, those pretreated with COX inhibitors failed to attenuate AILI. CONCLUSIONS: The current study revealed that eosinophil-derived IL-4/IL-13 accounted for the hepatoprotective effect of eosinophils during AILI. The data demonstrated that the p38 MAPK/COX/NF-κB signaling cascade played a critical role in inducing IL-4/IL-13 production by eosinophils in response to IL-33.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND & AIMS: Liver contains high frequency of group 1 innate lymphoid cells (ILC), which are composed of comparable number of type 1 ILC (ILC1) and natural killer (NK) cells in steady state. Little is known about whether and how the interaction between ILC1 and NK cells affects the development of alcoholic liver disease. METHODS: A mouse model of chronic alcohol abuse plus single-binge (Gao-Binge model) was established. The levels of alanine aminotransferase/aspartate aminotransferase, hepatic lipid, and inflammatory cytokines or neutrophils were measured to evaluate the degree of liver injury, steatosis, and inflammation. Flow cytometric analysis, cell depletion, or adoptive transfer were used to interrogate the interaction between ILC1 and NK cells. RESULTS: Upon chronic alcohol consumption, NK cells, but not ILC1, underwent apoptosis, resulting in ILC1 dominance among group 1 ILC. Interleukin (IL) 17A expression was up-regulated, and increased IL17A was mainly derived from liver ILC1 after chronic alcohol feeding. Either depletion of ILC1 or neutralization of IL17A could significantly attenuate liver steatosis, inflammation, and injury in alcohol-fed mice. In contrast, normalization of the ILC1/NK cells ratio through NK cells transfer or expanding NK cells had a significant hepatoprotection against alcohol-induced steatohepatitis. Furthermore, NK cell-derived interferon gamma exerted a protective function via inhibiting IL17A production by liver ILC1 during alcoholic steatohepatitis. CONCLUSIONS: This is the first study showing that the interplay between liver ILC1 and NK cells occurs and drives the development of alcoholic steatohepatitis. Our findings support further exploration of liver ILC1 or NK cells as a therapeutic target for the treatment of alcohol-associated liver disease.

RESUMO

INTRODUCTION: Smoking cessation is an efficient approach to reducing disease burden. Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) therapies such as acupuncture, acupressure, and herbal drugs are often used to help quit smoking. However, there is a lack of overarching bibliometric analysis of the clinical research on smoking cessation focusing on TCM. The aim of our study is to explore the current patterns and trends of TCM therapy for smoking cessation through bibliometric methods with visual presentation. METHODS: This study is an assessment of academic publications retrieved from the Scopus database on smoking cessation using TCM therapy published in the period 2005-2021. Sankey diagram, word-cloud, network analysis, thematic maps, tree-maps, and the collaborative work of authors, institutions and countries, were used to identify research trends on TCM therapy for smoking cessation. The total cited index and H-index (for journals, authors, countries, organizations) were used to identify the trends of worldwide development by R Package and Excel 2016. RESULTS: There was an upward trend, with some fluctuations, of 1908 articles from 2005 to 2021. The most productive country was China. The top institution in this field was Beijing University. The dominant author that contributed to TCM therapy for smoking cessation was Wang Y, who has the highest H-Index. The most productive cited journals were Evidence-Based Complementary and Alternative Medicines and the Chinese Journal of Clinical Rehabilitation. Liu L, (2011, STROKE) had the highest centrality. The keywords 'acupuncture', 'traditional Chinese medicine', 'colitis', 'hypertension', 'chronic obstructive pulmonary disease', 'risk factors' and 'alternative medicine' ranked highest in frequency. The diseases of healthy people concerned mainly cardiovascular, cancer, diabetes, hypertension and pregnancy. The diseases of the patients concerned mainly cancer, diabetes, hematopathy, stroke, cardiovascular, diabetes, lung disease, and hypertension. Treatment methods were mainly traditional Chinese medicine and acupuncture. The research methods mainly included randomized controlled trials that were multi-center and double-blind. CONCLUSIONS: A substantial number of articles on TCM therapy for smoking cessation, mainly focusing on TCM and acupuncture were identified. It is worth noting that research that focused on TCM therapy for smoking cessation also was related to COVID-19.
