RESUMO

In this paper, we report a coherent beam combining (CBC) system that involves two thulium-doped all-polarization maintaining (PM) fiber chirped pulse amplifiers. Through phase-locking the two channels via a fiber stretcher by using the stochastic parallel gradient descent (SPGD) algorithm, a maximum average power of 265 W is obtained, with a CBC efficiency of 81% and a residual phase error of λ/17. After de-chirping by a pair of diffraction gratings, the duration of the combined laser pulse is compressed to 690 fs. Taking into account the compression efficiency of 90% and the main peak energy proportion of 91%, the corresponding peak power is calculated to be 4 MW. The laser noise characteristics before and after CBC are examined, and the results indicate that the CBC would degrade the low frequency relative intensity noise (RIN), of which the integration is 1.74% in [100 Hz, 2 MHz] at the maximum combined output power. In addition, the effects of the nonlinear spectrum broadening during chirped pulse amplification on the CBC efficiency are also investigated, showing that a higher extent of pulse stretching is effective in alleviating the spectrum broadening and realizing a higher output power with decent combining efficiency.

RESUMO

As a promising way to realize high output power while maintaining high beam quality, coherent beam combining (CBC) of fiber lasers has drawn much interest. Phase control is one of the main technologies to fulfill CBC, which is employed to keep the phases of different fiber lasers consistent. Traditional phase control techniques employ beam splitters after the emitting array to obtain phase mismatch information. Different from the traditional phase-locking technique, the internal phase control technique can obtain phase mismatch information before the laser array output to free space, and the technique is compact and easy to expand to a lager array. In this paper, a CBC system based on an internal phase-locking technique is designed, and relative numerical simulations are studied. By using the cascaded technique, the phase control bandwidth can be greatly increased. The simulation results show that hundreds of laser beams can be effectively combined based on the technique. The results of the numerical simulations can provide significant reference for the compact CBC system design and phase control.

RESUMO

As an essential component of the vortex beam, the fractional vortex beam has significantly advanced various applications, such as optical imaging, optical communication, and particle manipulation. However, practical applications face a significant challenge as generating high average power fractional vortex beams remains difficult. Here, we proposed and experimentally demonstrated a high average power mode-tunable fractional vortex beam generator based on an internally sensed coherent beam combining (CBC) system. We presented the first, to the best of our knowledge, successful generation of a 1.5 kW continuous wave fractional vortex beam. Moreover, real-time tuning of the topological charge (TC) from -2/3 to +2/3 was easily achieved using the programmable liquid crystals (LCs). More importantly, the fractional vortex beam copier was presented as well, and the generated fractional vortex beam could be easily transformed into a fractional vortex beam array by changing the fill factor of the laser array. This work can pave the path for the practical implementation of high average power structured light beams.

RESUMO

Infectious bovine rhinotracheitis virus (IBRV) can cause various degrees of symptoms in the respiratory system, reproductive system, and whole body of cattle. It also can lead to persistent and latent infection in cattle, posing a challenge to timely control of infectious bovine rhinotracheitis (IBR) in farms and causing large financial losses in the global cattle industry. Therefore, the goal of this study was to establish a rapid, simple, and accurate method that can detect IBRV in order to facilitate the control and eradication of IBR in cattle. We combined recombinant polymerase amplification (RPA) with a closed vertical flow visualization strip (VF) and established an RPA-VF assay that targets the thymidine kinase (TK) gene to rapidly detect IBRV. This method (reaction at 42°C for 25 min) was able to detect a minimum of 3.8 × 101 copies/µL of positive plasmid and 1.09 × 101 50% tissue culture infective dose (TCID50) of the IBRV. This assay has high specificity for IBRV and does not cross-react with other respiratory pathogens in cattle. The concordance between the RPA-VF assay and the gold standard was 100%. In addition, this assay was also suitable for the detection of DNA from clinical samples extracted by a simple method (heating at 95°C for 5 min), which can achieve the rapid detection of clinical samples in the field. Overall, the present sensitivity, specificity, and clinical applicability assessments indicated that the RPA-VF assay we developed can be utilized as a quick and accurate on-site test for IBRV detection in farms. IMPORTANCE IBRV causes different degrees of clinical symptoms in cattle and poses a great threat to the cattle industry. The infection is persistent and latent, and the elimination of IBRV in infected herds is difficult. A rapid, simple, and accurate method to detect IBRV is therefore vital to control and eradicate IBR. Combining RPA with an VF, we established an RPA-VF assay for the rapid detection of IBRV, which can complete the test of clinical samples in 35 min. The assay shows good sensitivity, specificity, and clinical applicability and can be used as an on-site test for IBRV in farms.

RESUMO

This paper aims to study the electrical parameters (electrical resistivity and alternating current (AC) impedance spectroscopy) of cement paste with rice husk ash (RHA). The water to cement (Mass ratio of water to cement (w/c)) ratios of the paste in this study varied from 0.4 to 0.5. The mass ratio of rice husk ash in each w/c ratio of specimens ranged from 0% to 15% by t mass of cement. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and X-ray diffraction (XRD) were used to determine the microstructures of specimens. Moreover, the slump flow and plastic viscosity of fresh paste were determined. The results indicated that with the increasing dosage of RHA, the fluidity decreased, while the plastic viscosity increased. Meanwhile, a high w/c ratio led to a low plastic viscosity and high slump flow. The electrical resistivity of RHA cement paste gradually ascended with the increasing curing period. The conduction of specimens intricately changed by mixing RHA, a reasonable equivalent circuit was selected to describe the conduction mechanism by AC impedance spectroscopy. Additionally, the results of XRD and SEM showed that RHA could effectively promote the hydration process as well as decrease the size and number of cracks in hardened cement paste.

RESUMO

A fluorinated and thermo-cross-linked polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxane (POSS) has been successfully synthesized by thermal polymerization of a fluorinated POSS monomer having an inorganic silsesquioxane core and organic side chains bearing thermo-cross-linkable trifluorovinyl ether groups. This new inorganic-organic hybrid polymer shows high thermostability with a 5 wt % loss temperature of 436 °C, as well as good transparency (a sheet with an average thickness of 1.5 mm shows high transmittance of 92% varying from 400 to 1100 nm). Moreover, the polymer exhibits both low dielectric constant (<2.56) and low dissipation factor (<3.1 × 10-3) in a wide range of frequencies from 40 Hz to 30 MHz even at a high frequency of 5 GHz. The polymer also shows low water uptake (<0.04%) and low Dk (near 2.63) after immersing it in water at room temperature for 3 days. These data imply that this polymer is very suitable to be utilized as a high-performance dielectric material for fabrication of high-frequency printed circuit boards or encapsulation resins for integrated circuit dies in the microelectronic industry. Furthermore, this work also provides a route for the preparation of fluorinated POSS-based polymers.

RESUMO

A new fluorinated poly(aryl ether) with reactive benzocyclobutene groups as the side chain was successfully synthesized. This polymer showed a number-average molecular weight (Mn) of 200,000 and had good solubility and film-forming ability. After being postpolymerized at high temperature (>200 °C), the polymer film converted to a cross-linked network structure, which was insoluble in the common organic solvents. Such results suggest that the postpolymerization is an efficient way to achive the balance between the solubility and the solvent resistance of the polymer. TGA data showed that the postpolymerized polymer had a 5 wt % loss temperature at 495 °C and a residual of 61% at 1000 °C under N2. The cross-linked film also exhibited good dielectric properties with an average dielectric constant of about 2.62 in a range of frequencies from 1 to 30 MHz. With regard to the mechanical properties, the cross-linked film had hardness, Young's modulus, and bonding strength to a silicon wafer of 1.22, 8.8, and 0.89 GPa, respectively. These data imply that this new polymer may have potential applications in the electrical and microelectronics industry.

RESUMO

By using the techniques of resonance light scattering (RLS) and absorption spectra, we studied the toxicosis and detoxifcation mechanism of anionic surfactant SDBS and cationic surfactant CTMAB targeted to bovine serum albumin (BSA). Small quantity of CTMAB combines with SDBS-BSA complex to form SDBS-BSA-CTMAB complex and the IRLS of system enhanced greatly. With the cumulation of quantity, CTMAB captures SDBS from SDBS-BSA complex by electrostatic attraction and CTMAB-SDBS complex forms, meanwhile BSA automatically frees, which is corresponding to the toxicosis and detoxifcation process. Absorption experiment validates that SDBS induces the denaturalization of BSA and CTMAB facilitates the refolding of this protein.
