Digital skills among youth: A dataset from a three-wave longitudinal survey in six European countries.

This dataset provides longitudinal survey data from a European project, ySKILLS, which was focused on the role of digital skills in youths' development. It contains data from 10,821 participants from Grades 6-10 (in Wave 1) in Estonia, Finland, Germany, Italy, Poland, and Portugal. The data was collected between Spring 2021 and Spring 2023, the participants were recruited through schools, where the data collection also took place, except for online data collections due to restrictions caused by COVID-19. The dataset is novel in its multidimensional approach to the construct of digital literacy. It provides insight into the development of digital skills in youth and the role of digital skills and internet usage in youths' positive and negative online experiences and wellbeing. It also contains data that allows for the analysis of the role of digital skills in class networks. The data are beneficial for researchers interested in the examination of youths' online skills, internet usage, online experiences, and wellbeing from a longitudinal perspective.

Dynamic CT scanning of the knee: Combining weight bearing with real-time motion acquisition.

BACKGROUND: Imaging the lower limb during weight-bearing conditions is essential to acquire advanced functional joint information. The horizontal bed position of CT systems however hinders this process. The purpose of this study was to validate and test a device to simulate realistic knee weight-bearing motion in a horizontal position during dynamic CT acquisition and process the acquired images. METHODS: "Orthostatic squats" was compared to "Horizontal squats" on a device with loads between 35% and 55% of the body weight (%BW) in 20 healthy volunteers. Intraclass Correlation Coefficient (ICC), and standard error of measurement (SEM), were computed as measures of the reliability of curve kinematic and surface EMG (sEMG) data. Afterwards, the device was tested during dynamic CT acquisitions on three healthy volunteers and three patients with patellofemoral pain syndrome. The respective images were processed to extract Tibial-Tuberosity Trochlear-Groove distance, Bisect Offset and Lateral Patellar Tilt metrics. RESULTS: For sEMG, the highest average ICCs (SEM) of 0.80 (6.9), was found for the load corresponding to 42%BW. Kinematic analysis showed ICCs were the highest for loads of 42%BW during the eccentric phase (0.79-0.87) and from maximum flexion back to 20° (0.76). The device proved to be safe and reliable during the acquisition of dynamic CT images and the three metrics were computed, showing preliminary differences between healthy and pathological participants. CONCLUSIONS: This device could simulate orthostatic squats in a horizontal position with good reliability. It also successfully provided dynamic CT scan images and kinematic parameters of healthy and pathological knees during weight-bearing movement.

Investigating intergroup attitudes in Europe: Cross-national data on news media, attitudes towards newcomers, and socio-psychological indicators.

This dataset is part of a multidisciplinary project that investigates the relationship between attitudes of the adult population towards 'newcomers', and news media consumption and trust in Belgium, France, the Netherlands, and Sweden in 2017 (N = 6000). These countries were chosen for their response to the 2015 refugee crisis in Europe, with each country having a different media context. We ran an online survey which included questions on socio-demographic characteristics, attitudinal indicators, and information on news media consumption and trust. The data are representative for age and gender in each country and can be of interest for researchers who wish to explore dynamics of attitude formation, particularly with regards to the role of news media, in the wake of the 2015 refugee crisis in Europe.
