RESUMO

With the rapid development of performance and long-term stability, bismuth vanadate (BiVO4 ) has emerged as the preferred photoanode in photoelectrochemical tandem devices. Although state-of-the-art BiVO4 photoanodes realize a saturated photocurrent density approaching the theoretical maximum, the fill factor (FF) is still inferior, pulling down the half-cell applied bias photon-to-current efficiency (HC-ABPE). Among the major fundamental limitations are the Fermi level pinning and sluggish surface kinetics at the low applied potentials. This work demonstrates that the plasma-assisted atomic layer deposition technique is capable of addressing these issues by seamlessly installing an angstrom-scale FeNi-layer between BiVO4 and electrolyte. Not only this ultrathin FeNi layer serves as an efficient OER cocatalyst, more importantly, it also effectively passivates the surface states of BiVO4 , de-pins the surface Fermi level, and enlarges the built-in voltage, allowing the photoanode to make optimal use of the photogenerated holes for achieving high FF up to 44% and HC-ABPE to 2.2%. This study offers a new approach for enhancing the FF of photoanodes and provides guidelines for designing efficient unassisted solar fuel devices.

RESUMO

The reform of the review and approval system for Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) continues to advance with the introduction of a new registration classification and the establishment of a review and approval evidence system. This new registration process established a novel review and approval evidence system, which combines the TCM theory, human use experience and clinical trials. Ramulus Mori (Sangzhi) alkaloids Tablets are a brand new drug. It is the first botanical natural hypoglycemic drug, and a new model of TCM review and approval evidence system has gradually been developed through contemporary research. In this paper, we discuss the registration process of new Chinese medicine drugs under the "three integrated review and approval system", retrace the development process of Mulberry alkaloid tablets, and discuss the opportunities and challenges encountered under the "three integrated" evidence system to provide feasible strategies and reference models for the development of Chinese medicine and the development of botanical drugs in the world.

RESUMO

Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) is the key to unlock treasures of Chinese civilization. TCM and its compound play a beneficial role in medical activities to cure diseases, especially in major public health events such as novel coronavirus epidemics across the globe. The chemical composition in Chinese medicine formula is complex and diverse, but their effective substances resemble "mystery boxes". Revealing their active ingredients and their mechanisms of action has become focal point and difficulty of research for herbalists. Although the existing research methods are numerous and constantly updated iteratively, there is remain a lack of prospective reviews. Hence, this paper provides a comprehensive account of existing new approaches and technologies based on previous studies with an in vitro to in vivo perspective. In addition, the bottlenecks of studies on Chinese medicine formula effective substances are also revealed. Especially, we look ahead to new perspectives, technologies and applications for its future development. This work reviews based on new perspectives to open horizons for the future research. Consequently, herbal compounding pharmaceutical substances study should carry on the essence of TCM while pursuing innovations in the field.

RESUMO

In this study, CiteSpace was used to conduct bibliometric statistics and visualization of the research papers on the exosomes in traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) and application status in CNKI, Wanfang, VIP, and Web of Science. The authors, research institutions, and keywords of the relevant papers were analyzed to summarize the research status, hotspots, and development trends of TCM application of exosomes, thereby providing references for future research. A total of 340 Chinese papers and 9 English papers were included. In Chinese papers, GUO Hai-dong is the author with the largest amount of research papers, and his research interest is the mechanism of electroacupuncture in promoting functional recovery after sciatic nerve injury by regulating the release of exosomes. Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine is the research institution with the largest amount of papers, followed by Nanjing University of Chinese Medicine and Hunan University of Chinese Medicine. There was less cooperation among these research institutions, and cooperation between teams and agencies should be strengthened. The overall volume of publications in English was comparatively small, and the connections between the authors were weak. The publishing organizations were mostly distributed in medical schools, hospitals, comprehensive universities, and the cooperation between institutions was scattered. The main keywords in Chinese papers include microRNA, mesenchymal stem cells, bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells, mechanism of action, and extracellular vesicles. The research of exosomes in TCM is increasing in recent years. The research hotspot is that exosomes can both serve as biomarkers for the diagnosis and prognosis of certain diseases in TCM and drug carriers of Chinese medicine for targeted treatment of diseases. Keyword prominence suggested that exosomes derived from osteoblasts and macrophages in the treatment of diseases might still be a future research trend.

RESUMO

As a miraculous Xinjiang Uyghur customary traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), Chicory (Cichorium glandulosum Boiss.et Huet and Cichorium intybus L.) has been found to have therapeutic potential for metabolic diseases in recent years. Although it is widely used as an ethnic medicine, there is still a lack of targeted quality control indicators in quality standards. Hence, this study was conducted to further develop a strategy to reveal bioactive-chemical quality markers based on the existing foundation. First, through the comparative screening of fingerprint profiles of a large amount of Cichorium glandulosum Boiss.et Huet and Cichorium intybus L., superiority components were found to be potential indicators of chemical quantitative properties for the roots and above-ground parts. The results of content determination showed that their contents differed among different species and parts. Second, the potential dominant components were further confirmed using network pharmacology and molecular docking techniques. Again, the results of RAW264.7 cells and L02 cells experiments showed that chicory acid and lactucin were the main components that could reflect the anti-inflammatory and uric acid-lowering potential of chicory. Finally, under this strategy, this study reveals that cichoric acid and lactucin have the properties of quality markers and quality control of chicory. In a word, this work contributes to the quality control, standard improvement, and rational clinical use of chicory.

RESUMO

The APETALA 2/ethylene response factors (AP2/ERF) are widespread in the plant kingdom and play essential roles in regulating plant growth and development as well as defense responses. In this study, a novel rice AP2/ERF transcription factor gene, OsRPH1, was isolated and functionally characterized. OsRPH1 falls into group-IVa of the AP2/ERF family. OsRPH1 protein was found to be localized in the nucleus and possessed transcriptional activity. Overexpression of OsRPH1 resulted in a decrease in plant height and length of internode and leaf sheath as well as other abnormal characters in rice. The length of the second leaf sheath of OsRPH1-overexpressing (OE) plants recovered to that of Kitaake (non-transgenic recipient) in response to exogenous gibberellin A3 (GA3) application. The expression of GA biosynthesis genes (OsGA20ox1-OsGA20ox4, OsGA3ox1, and OsGA3ox2) was significantly downregulated, whereas that of GA inactivation genes (OsGA2ox7, OsGA2ox9, and OsGA2ox10) was significantly upregulated in OsRPH1-OE plants. Endogenous bioactive GA contents significantly decreased in OsRPH1-OE plants. OsRPH1 interacted with a blue light receptor, OsCRY1b, in a blue light-dependent manner. Taken together, our results demonstrate that OsRPH1 negatively regulates plant height and bioactive GA content by controlling the expression of GA metabolism genes in rice. OsRPH1 is involved in blue light inhibition of leaf sheath elongation by interacting with OsCRY1b.
