RESUMO

Organic-inorganic metal halide (OIMH) glass offers the advantages of large-scale production, high transparency, and minimal light scattering. However, undesired crystallization in OIMH glass can occur, leading to deteriorated transparency. Herein, a series of bisphosphonium organic cations were designed to construct Mn-based metal halide crystals with a photoluminescence quantum yield (PLQY) near unity, alongside the development of highly thermally stable OIMH glasses. Two strategies were employed to lower the melting point of OIMH: alkyl chain elongation and fluorine substitution. The (Hex-3,4-2F)MnBr4·MeOH (Hex-3,4-2F = hexane-1,6-diylbis((3,4-difluorobenzyl)diphenylphosphonium)) crystal delivers a glass transition temperature of 100 °C and the highest T g/T m ratio (0.82) among OIMHs. The resulting OIMH glass exhibits a PLQY of 47.6%, achieves an impressive resolution of 25 lp mm-1 in X-ray imaging, and remains transparent even after being heated at 90 °C for six weeks. These bisphosphonium-based OIMH glasses present a feasible design for the practical application of OIMH glasses in radiation detection.

RESUMO

Realizing topological transformation through supramolecular fusion is particularly challenging, as the self-assembly of disparate components often results in the orthogonal assembly of building blocks into distinct structures rather than the formation of a heteroleptic architecture. This study introduces a topological transformation, transitioning from a figure-eight knot (41 knot) to a Solomon link (412 link) through a supramolecular fusion process. By employing two structurally similar amino acid ligands (L1 and L3) of varying lengths as bridge ligands, we obtained figure-eight knot 1 and a molecular tweezer-like compound 3 when individually complexed with binuclear Cp*Rh acceptor B1. Our results revealed that subtle modifications to bridge ligands can lead to dramatic changes in their structures and recognition properties. Moreover, we successfully achieved the targeted formation of a heteroleptic Solomon link 4 by blending figure-eight knot 1 and compound 3 in a 1:1 ratio without the need for templates. This procedure effortlessly converted the 41 knot into a 412 link, thus marking a significant advancement in the topological transformation. This work not only marks the construction of the first heteroleptic Solomon link comprising two distinct metallamacrocycles but also demonstrates a process of supramolecular fusion-based topological transformation involving three distinct topological structures.

RESUMO

Continuous cropping is a common obstacle limiting the high quality and yield of Lycium barbarum (wolfberry). To clarify the response of soil characteristics of the wolfberry root zone to continuous cropping years, we systematically determined the physicochemical properties and pesticide residues of soils in the wolfberry root zone with different continuous cropping years. In addition, soil bacterial and fungal communities were characterized using high-throughput sequencing technology. The results were as follows: The content of total salt and imidacloprid in the root zone of wolfberry increased with increasing years of continuous cropping. Compared to that with 2 and 9 years, the total salt content in the root zone of wolfberry with 15 years of continuous cropping increased by 51.97% and 54.33%, respectively, and the imidacloprid content increased by 39.58% and 36.61%, respectively. Alkaline nitrogen and available potassium showed an increasing and then decreasing trend. Compared to that with 2 and 15 years, alkaline nitrogen and available potassium in the root-soil of wolfberry with 9 years of continuous cropping increased by 16.94%-28.09% and 18.31%-18.34%, respectively. The diversity and abundance of bacterial communities and the abundance of fungal communities were higher in the root-soil of wolfberry with 9 years of continuous cropping compared to that with 15 years of continuous cropping. In addition, the increase in continuous cropping years also increased the accumulation of harmful plant pathogens such as Pseudomonas, Arthrobacter, Actinomucor, and Trichoderma in the root zone of L. barbarum. Soil total salinity, organic matter, alkaline hydrolyzable nitrogen, and available potassium were the main factors influencing the distribution of bacterial communities. Soil alkaline hydrolyzable nitrogen, available potassium, and ammonium nitrogen were the main factors influencing the distribution of fungal communities. In addition, the soil bacteria in the root zone of L. barbarum were dominated by metabolic functions; in particular, amino acid metabolism, energy metabolism, and nucleotide metabolism were most abundant in the root soil of wolfberry with 9 years of continuous cropping, whereas the highest abundance of functional genes related to membrane translocation was found in the root-soil of wolfberry with 15 years of continuous cropping. The soil fungi were all dominated by saprophytic trophic types, followed by pathogenic cross-nutrients in the root zone of L. barbarum. In conclusion, long-term continuous cropping induced changes in the soil microenvironment in the root zone of L. barbarum, increased soil residues of harmful pesticides and the enrichment of plant pathogens, and reduced the diversity of soil bacterial and fungal communities. Therefore, it is necessary to control the rate of application of soil nutrients and pesticides in the management of L. barbarum and to carry out deep ploughing and deep tilling in good time, and the turnover of old plants in the cultivation of L. barbarum.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Sleep regularity has been linked to a risk of arterial stiffness (AS). However, the association between sleep regularity indicators, which reflect 24-hour sleep variability, and AS has not yet been examined. METHODS: We analyzed data from 516 adults, aged 40-65 years (the median age of 51 years), from the 'Follow-up Study of Sleep Characteristics and Chronic Diseases in the Middle-aged and Elderly Population in Guizhou Province'. Participants underwent assessments of AS (OMRON HBP-8000, baPWV ≥ 1400 cm/s) and sleep (wrist smart band (Honor band 5i) for ≥ 7 days). Logistic regression was utilized to evaluate the odds ratio (OR) and 95% confidence interval (CI) of the association between sleep regularity and AS. RESULTS: A total of 516 people were included in this study, of which 279 (54.07%) were in the AS group. The univariate results showed that the AS group (Median 71.18) had lower SRI compared to the No-AS group (Median 75.00) (p < 0.001). The multifactorial results showed participants with higher SRI scores were more likely to have a lower risk of AS compared to those with lower SRI scores (ORQ4 VS. Q1=0.46, 95%CI: 0.25-0.85, p = 0.013). The SRI effect was more pronounced in male (ORQ4 VS. Q1=0.28, 95%CI: 0.12-0.69, p = 0.005), snoring populations (ORQ4 VS. Q1=0.13, 95%CI: 0.04-0.48, p = 0.002), and non-retired populations (ORQ4 VS. Q1=0.45, 95%CI: 0.22-0.92, p = 0.028). CONCLUSIONS: The present findings indicated that the effect between SRI and AS may be more sensitive than the standard deviation of sleep duration as well as the standard deviation of sleep onset.

RESUMO

Background: SZ-685C, an anthracycline compound derived from the mangrove endophytic fungus Halorosellinia sp. (No. 1403) collected from the South China Sea, has shown strong anticancer activities. Non-functioning pituitary adenomas (NFPAs) are a type of tumor that can be challenging to manage clinically and have a significant unmet medical need. Our research has found that SZ-685C showed an inhibitory effect on the viability, migration ability, and proliferation ability of a human non-functioning pituitary tumor-derived folliculostellate (PDFS) cell line. Methods: SZ-685C was prepared and purified from the mangrove endophytic fungus No. 1403. PDFS cells were exposed to SZ-685C, and the effect of SZ-685C on PDFS cells was evaluated. RNA sequencing was used to analyze the miRNA expression profile in PDFS cells of the control group and SZ-685C-treated group. Quantitative polymerase chain reaction (qPCR) was performed to verify the expression of selected miR-340-3p. The effects of SZ-685C on PDFS cells after overexpression of miR-340-3p were evaluated. Dual-luciferase reporter assays showed PPP1CB is a direct target of miR-340-3p. Finally, the action pathway of the selected miR-340-3p was predicted and evaluated through bioinformatics analysis. Results: SZ-685C reduced cell viability in PDFS cells, accompanied by inhibition of migration ability and proliferation ability. The IC50 value for 24 h is 9.144 ± 0.991 µM, and for 48 h is 4.635 ± 0.551 µM. SZ-685C increased the protein levels of Beclin 1, the ratio of LC3-II to LC3-I, and LAMP-1, and down-regulated p62. MiRNA sequencing and further validation showed that miR-340-3p significantly decreased in PDFS cells treated with SZ-685C. After overexpression of miR-340-3p, the inhibition of viability, migration ability, proliferation ability, and autophagy-promoting effect of SZ-685C on PDFS cells were weakened. SZ-685C caused a decrease in PPP1CB expression and activation of the ERK pathway in PDFS cells, and this trend was reversed after overexpression of miR-340-3p. Conclusions: SZ-685C downregulates the expression of miR-340-3p in PDFS cells, thereby reducing the expression of PPP1CB and activating the ERK pathway to promote autophagic cell death, leading to inhibition of PDFS cell growth.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to explore the mechanism by which noise contributes to the development of Alzheimer's disease (AD)-like lesions. METHOD: Male Wistar rats (24 months) were allocated into two groups (n = 6 per groups): a noise group exposed to 98 dB sound pressure-level white noise for 4 hours daily from 8:00 to 12:00 for 30 days, and a control group without noise exposure. The cognitive functions of the rats were assessed using new-object recognition and Morris water maze tests. Then, hippocampal tissues were collected, and the levels of amyloid ß 1-42 (Aß1-42), Aß1-40, brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF), and tropomyosin receptor kinase B (TrkB) were measured using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Protein expression was evaluated through Western blot. RESULTS: Noise exposure significantly impaired cognitive and recognition abilities, increased the escape latency, and decreased the number of crossings through the platform quadrant intersection and the time spent in the target quadrant (P < 0.01). The new-object exploration and recognition index of the rats in the noise group markedly decreased (P < 0.01). ELISA results indicated increases in Aß1-40 and Aß1-42 levels and decreases in BDNF and TrkB levels in the rat hippocampus in the noise group (P < 0.01). Western blot analyses revealed that beta-site amyloid precursor protein (APP) cleaving enzyme 1, phosphorylated tau protein, gamma-H2A histone family, member X, checkpoint kinase 2, p53, and p21 were remarkably elevated in the noise group (P < 0.01). CONCLUSION: Chronic noise exposure can cause hippocampal genetic damage in aged rats, leading to cognitive disorders and the development of lesions similar to those observed in AD. Thus, noise is a potential risk factor for neurodegenerative disorders.

RESUMO

The development of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) preparations as an incubator for new drugs in medical institutions has flourished, while an evaluation index system remains to be established for comprehensively assessing the development value of these prescriptions. This study established an item pool through literature research, employed the Delphi method to determine the content of evaluation indexes, and adopted the superiority chart to determine the weight of each index. Two-level evaluation index system for the development value of TCM preparations in medical institutions was established, which included 7 first-level items and 36 se-cond-level items, demonstrating scientific validity. The first-level items(weight) were inheritance(10.61%), effectiveness(23.22%), safety(22.71%), innovation(13.21%), economy(10.00%), suitability(8.57%), and accessibility(11.68%). The top three second-level items in terms of weight distribution were adverse reaction monitoring(6.73%), evidence of therapeutic effect(5.71%), and clinical response rate(4.75%). The bottom three second-level items were production advantages(0.86%), medicinal dosage(0.48%), and medicinal smell or taste(0.18%). The content validity of the established system was assessed, which revealed that the index system was reliable, with the overall and average content validity indexes of 0.47 and 0.90, respectively. Furthermore, the established evaluation index system was used to evaluate six TCM preparations in a city-level hospital of TCM in Sichuan Province, which demonstrated that the system had operability. The results indicate that the evaluation index system is scientific, reliable, and operable, providing a reference for developers to selectively develop TCM preparations in medical institutions. In practical application, the system can be adjusted regarding the index weights according to actual conditions.

RESUMO

Calcium (Ca) is essential for plant growth and stress adaptation, yet its availability is often limited in acidic soils, posing a major threat to crop production. Understanding the intricate mechanisms orchestrating plant adaptation to Ca deficiency remains elusive. Here, we show that the Ca deficiency-enhanced nuclear accumulation of the transcription factor SENSITIVE TO PROTON RHIZOTOXICITY 1 (STOP1) in Arabidopsis thaliana confers tolerance to Ca deprivation, with the global transcriptional responses triggered by Ca deprivation largely impaired in the stop1 mutant. Notably, STOP1 activates the Ca deprivation-induced expression of CATION/Ca2+ EXCHANGER 1 (CCX1) by directly binding to its promoter region, which facilitates Ca2+ efflux from endoplasmic reticulum to cytosol to maintain Ca homeostasis. Consequently, the constitutive expression of CCX1 in the stop1 mutant partially rescues the Ca deficiency phenotype by increasing Ca content in the shoots. These findings uncover the pivotal role of the STOP1-CCX1 axis in plant adaptation to low Ca, offering alternative manipulating strategies to improve plant Ca nutrition in acidic soils and extending our understanding of the multifaceted role of STOP1.

RESUMO

Nonfunctioning pituitary adenoma (NFPA) is one of the major subtypes of pituitary adenomas (PA) and its primary treatment is surgical resection. However, normal surgery fails to remove lesions completely and there remains in lack of frontline treatment, so the development of new drugs for NFPA is no doubt urgent. Oridonin (ORI) has been reported to have antitumor effects on a variety of tumors, but whether it could exhibit the same effect on NFPA requires to be further investigated. The effects of ORI on pituitary-derived folliculostellate cell line (PDFS) cell viability, colony formation, proliferation ability, migration, and invasion were examined by Cell Counting Kit-8, colony formation assay, 5Ethynyl2'deoxyuridine proliferation assay, wound-healing assay, and Transwell assay. The differentially expressed genes in the control and ORI-treated groups were screened by transcriptome sequencing analysis and analyzed by Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) and Gene Ontology (GO) enrichment. Cell cycle analysis was performed to detect changes in cell cycle. Annexin V-fluorescein isothiocyanate/propidium iodide staining was performed to detect apoptosis in ORI-treated cells. Western blot assay was performed to detect Bax, Bcl-2, and cleaved Caspase-3 protein expression. ORI inhibited PDFS cell viability and significantly suppressed cell proliferation, migration, and invasion. GO and KEGG results showed that ORI was associated with signaling pathways such as cell cycle and apoptosis in PDFS cells. In addition, ORI blocked cells in G2/M phase and induced apoptosis in PDFS cells. ORI can trigger cell cycle disruption and apoptosis collaboratively in PDFS cells, making it a promising and effective agent for NFPA therapy.

RESUMO

Establishment of a new method for improved shoot tip cryopreservation is crucial to facilitate the long-term preservation of plant germplasm as well as the use of cryotherapy for pathogen eradication. The present study reported a vitrification (V) cryo-foil method for shoot tip cryopreservation and virus eradication in apple. Shoot tip regrowth levels after cryopreservation were comparable among V cryo-foil (53 %), V cryo-plate (46 %) and conventional droplet vitrification (Dr-vi, 48 %). The V cryo-foil is more efficient to perform than Dr-vi as more shoot tips can be cryopreserved by one person. In the histological study applying an image-overlaying strategy, shoot tips cryopreserved by V cryo-foil showed a higher survival chance in the youngest leaf primordia than in the apical dome. When V cryo-foil was tested for virus eradication, fifty-five percent (55 %) of cryo-derived shoots were free of the apple stem pitting virus (ASPV), while none and less than 10 % were free of the apple stem grooving virus (ASGV) and the apple chlorotic leaf spot virus (ACLSV), respectively. Thus, these two viruses were efficiently preserved by V cryo-foil cryopreservation. Noticeably, although the shoot regrowth level was reduced to 27 %, a higher frequency (81 %) of ASPV eradication was achieved when a reduced duration of cryoprotectant exposure was applied in V cryo-foil, supporting the use of insufficient cryoprotection for improved virus eradication.

RESUMO

Oleogels have been used in the gelled surimi products to replace animal fats due to its structure characteristics. The effect of structure characteristics in fish oil oleogels on the mechanism of oil/water retention was investigated in meat emulsions. Beeswax assembly improved the oil and water retention. The unsaturation degree of fatty acids lowered the mobility of bound water, immobilized water as well as bound fat in the fish oil oleogel, but enhanced the mobility of free water and protons of unsaturated fatty acids. Beeswax addition and oil phase characteristics could enhance ß-sheets, disulfide bonds and hydrophobic force to improve the viscoelasticity, gel strength and oil/water retention. Beeswax assembly facilitated the tight micro-sol network and filling effect, and high unsaturation degree promoted the emulsification effect, thus reducing phase transition temperature and juice loss. The study could lay the foundation for development of gelled shrimp meat products with EPA and DHA.

RESUMO

The purpose of this experiment was to explore the influence of different cooking temperatures on the deterioration characteristics of pork batter gel by using proteomics, gel electrophoresis, size and chemical bond of aggregates. The results showed that the protein molecules of the pork batter gel was degraded during heating cooking and the protein aggregates were composed of many degraded protein fragments; compared with the control group 75 °C (0 min), the significant degradation of cytoskeleton showed at 110 °C (30 min) and 121 °C (30 min) and the significant degradation of myosin complexonly appeared at 121 °C (30 min). As the heating temperature points increased, compared with the control group 75 °C (0 min), the different temperatures could promote the separation of metal ions with proteins especially at 110 °C (30 min) and 121 °C (30 min), which could ultimately influence quality of pork batter gel by the size of particle. As the increase of heating temperature points, the recombination of aggregates composed of different proteins was not conducive to the retention of capillary water, which reduced the texture of pork batter gel. This research provided theoretical support for improving the process property of the meat products.

RESUMO

PURPOSE: This study aims to understand the role of cirrhosis in promoting hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) progression by analyzing the differential expression of long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) between cirrhotic hepatocellular carcinoma (CHCC) and noncirrhotic hepatocellular carcinoma (NCHCC). METHODS: A transcriptional profile array was used to identify differentially expressed lncRNAs. Subsequently, a specific lncRNA was selected to evaluate the clinical significance, potential functions, regulatory targets, and pathways through both in vitro and in vivo experiments. RESULTS: The study identified a lncRNA, which we termed DERCNC, an acronym for Differentially Expressed RNA between Cirrhotic and Non-Cirrhotic HCC. DERCNC was significantly more highly expressed in CHCC than in NCHCC. Clinically, elevated levels of DERCNC expression were positively correlated with both the cirrhotic state and tumor stage and inversely correlated with tumor differentiation. Furthermore, high expression of DERCNC was associated with a poor prognosis for patients. Conditioned medium from the hepatic stellate cell (LX2) was found to enhance DERCNC expression, SOX9 expression, and tumor proliferation. Overexpression of DERCNC similarly promoted tumor proliferation and increased SOX9 levels. Conversely, DERCNC silencing resulted in the opposite effects. Moreover, the pro-proliferative function of DERCNC was reversible through the modulation of SOX9 expression. Further mechanistic studies revealed that DERCNC upregulated SOX9 by increasing the enrichment of H3K27ac modifications near the SOX9 promoter. CONCLUSION: In conclusion, DERCNC expression in CHCC has significant clinical implications and can aggravate tumor proliferation by targeting SOX9. This represents a novel mechanism by which cirrhosis promotes tumor progression.

RESUMO

The gut microbiota has been demonstrated to play a significant role in the pathogenesis of Parkinson's disease (PD). However, conflicting findings regarding specific microbial species have been reported, possibly due to confounding factors within human populations. Herein, our current study investigated the interaction between the gut microbiota and host in a non-human primate (NHP) PD model induced by 1-methyl-4-phenyl-1,2,3,6-tetrahydropyridine (MPTP) using a multi-omic approach and a self-controlled design. Our transcriptomic sequencing of peripheral blood leukocytes (PBL) identified key genes involved in pro-inflammatory cytokine dysregulation, mitochondrial function regulation, neuroprotection activation, and neurogenesis associated with PD, such as IL1B, ATP1A3, and SLC5A3. The metabolomic profiles in serum and feces consistently exhibited significant alterations, particularly those closely associated with inflammation, mitochondrial dysfunctions and neurodegeneration in PD, such as TUDCA, ethylmalonic acid, and L-homophenylalanine. Furthermore, fecal metagenome analysis revealed gut dysbiosis associated with PD, characterized by a significant decrease in alpha diversity and altered commensals, particularly species such as Streptococcus, Butyrivibrio, and Clostridium. Additionally, significant correlations were observed between PD-associated microbes and metabolites, such as sphingomyelin and phospholipids. Importantly, PDPC significantly reduced in both PD monkey feces and serum, exhibiting strong correlation with PD-associated genes and microbes, such as SLC5A3 and Butyrivibrio species. Moreover, such multi-omic differential biomarkers were linked to the clinical rating scales of PD monkeys. Our findings provided novel insights into understanding the potential role of key metabolites in the host-microbiota interaction involved in PD pathogenesis.

RESUMO

Background: Myeloid differentiation factor 88 (MyD88) is the core adaptor for Toll-like receptors defending against microbial invasion and initiating a downstream immune response during microbiota-host interaction. However, the role of MyD88 in the pathogenesis of inflammatory bowel disease is controversial. This study aims to investigate the impact of MyD88 on intestinal inflammation and the underlying mechanism. Methods: MyD88 knockout (MyD88-/-) mice and the MyD88 inhibitor (TJ-M2010-5) were used to investigate the impact of MyD88 on acute dextran sodium sulfate (DSS)-induced colitis. Disease activity index, colon length, histological score, and inflammatory cytokines were examined to evaluate the severity of colitis. RNA transcriptome analysis and 16S rDNA sequencing were used to detect the potential mechanism. Results: In an acute DSS-colitis model, the severity of colitis was not alleviated in MyD88-/- mice and TJ-M2010-5-treated mice, despite significantly lower levels of NF-κB activation being exhibited compared to control mice. Meanwhile, 16S rDNA sequencing and RNA transcriptome analysis revealed a higher abundance of intestinal Proteobacteria and an up-regulation of the nucleotide oligomerization domain-like receptors (NLRs) signaling pathway in colitis mice following MyD88 suppression. Further blockade of the NLRs signaling pathway or elimination of gut microbiota with broad-spectrum antibiotics in DSS-induced colitis mice treated with TJ-M2010-5 ameliorated the disease severity, which was not improved solely by MyD88 inhibition. After treatment with broad-spectrum antibiotics, downregulation of the NLR signaling pathway was observed. Conclusion: Our study suggests that the suppression of MyD88 might be associated with unfavorable changes in the composition of gut microbiota, leading to NLR-mediated immune activation and intestinal inflammation.

RESUMO

Organic scintillators are praised for their abundant element reserves, facile preparation procedures, and rich structures. However, the weak X-ray attenuation ability and low exciton utilization efficiency result in unsatisfactory scintillation performance. Herein, a new family of highly efficient organic phosphonium halide salts with thermally activated delayed fluorescence (TADF) are designed by innovatively adopting quaternary phosphonium as the electron acceptor, while dimethylamine group and halide anions (I-) serve as the electron donor. The prepared butyl(2-[2-(dimethylamino)phenyl]phenyl)diphenylphosphonium iodide (C4-I) exhibits bright blue emission and an ultra-high photoluminescence quantum yield (PLQY) of 100 %. Efficient charge transfer is realized through the unique n-π and anion-π stacking in solid-state C4-I. Photophysical studies of C4-I suggest that the incorporation of I accounts for high intersystem crossing rate (kISC) and reverse intersystem crossing rate (kRISC), suppressing the intrinsic prompt fluorescence and enabling near-pure TADF emission at room temperature. Benefitting from the large Stokes shift, high PLQY, efficient exciton utilization, and remarkable X-ray attenuation ability endowed by I, C4-I delivers an outstanding light yield of 80721 photons/MeV and a low limit of detection (LoD) of 22.79 nGy ⋅ s-1. This work would provide a rational design concept and open up an appealing road for developing efficient organic scintillators with tunable emission, strong X-ray attenuation ability, and excellent scintillator performance.

RESUMO

Objective: The diagnostic value of multi-slice computed tomography (MSCT) in esophageal jujube pit impaction was explored in this study. Methods: A retrospective analysis was performed on MSCT data obtained from a cohort of 40 patients experiencing esophageal jujube pit impaction. The study period encompassed the interval from December 2018 to November 2019. The analysis involved examining the age distribution of the patients, the location of the jujube pit impaction, its connection to the esophagus, associated complications, and the methods used for treatment. All imaging results were compared with the outcomes of surgical or endoscopic interventions. Results: (1) Out of 40 patients, 30 individuals were 58 years old or above, constituting 75% of the study sample. (2) In 80% of the instances (32 cases), the jujube pit was located in the initial segment of the esophagus, exhibiting a spindle shape with varying levels of central low density. (3) We examined the correlation between the angle of the impacted jujube pit and the esophageal longitudinal axis, categorizing 2 cases as longitudinal impaction, 16 as oblique impaction, and 22 as transverse impaction. Among the 40 cases, 28 displayed only slight thickening of the esophageal wall at the impaction site, while 9 cases exhibited heightened periesophageal fat density, and 3 showed small periesophageal air bubbles. (4) Endoscopic evaluation identified damage to the esophageal mucosa in 35 instances and the formation of esophageal perforation in 5 cases. Among patients with perforation, one or both ends of the jujube pit had penetrated the esophageal wall, accompanied by different levels of surrounding inflammatory encapsulation. Conclusion: MSCT is crucial for pinpointing jujube pit impaction and its relation to the esophageal wall and nearby structures, aiding in preoperative and postoperative complications. It is highly feasible for endoscopic cases but limited in complex ones needing thoracoscopy or open-heart surgery.

RESUMO

Rapid acquisition of the data of soil moisture content (SMC) and soil organic matter (SOM) content is crucial for the improvement and utilization of saline alkali farmland soil. Based on field measurements of hyperspectral reflectance and soil properties of farmland soil in the Hetao Plain, we used a competitive adaptive reweighted sampling algorithm (CARS) to screen sensitive bands after transforming the original spectral reflectance (Ref) into a standard normal variable (SNV). Strategies Ⅰ, Ⅱ, and Ⅲ were used to model the input variables of Ref, Ref SNV, Ref-SNV+ soil covariate (SC), and digital elevation model (DEM). We constructed SMC and SOM estimation models based on random forest (RF) and light gradient boosting machine (LightGBM), and then verified and compared the accuracy of the models. The results showed that after CARS screening, the sensitive bands of SMC and SOM were compressed to below 3.3% of the entire band, which effectively optimized band selection and reduced redundant spectral information. Compared with the LightGBM model, the RF model had higher accuracy in SMC and SOM estimation, and the input variable strategy Ⅲ was better than Ⅱ and Ⅰ. The introduction of auxiliary variables effectively improved the estimation ability of the model. Based on comprehensive analysis, the coefficient of determination (Rp2), root mean square error (RMSE), and relative analysis error (RPD) of the SMC estimation model validation based on strategy Ⅲ-RF were 0.63, 3.16, and 2.01, respectively. The SOM estimation models based on strategy Ⅲ-RF had Rp2, RMSE, and RPD of 0.93, 1.15, and 3.52, respectively. The strategy Ⅲ-RF model was an effective method for estimating SMC and SOM. Our results could provide a new method for the rapid estimation of soil moisture and organic matter content in saline alkali farmland.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVES: To study the characteristics and clinical value of intestinal metabolites in children aged 4-6 years with obstructive sleep apnea-hypopnea syndrome (OSAHS). METHODS: A total of 31 children aged 4-6 years with OSAHS were prospectively enrolled as the test group, and 24 healthy children aged 4-6 years were included as the control group. Relevant clinical indicators were recorded. Fecal samples were collected, and non-targeted metabolomics analysis using liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry was performed to detect all metabolites. RESULTS: A total of 206 metabolites were detected, mainly amino acids and their derivatives. There was a significant difference in the overall composition of intestinal metabolites between the test and control groups (P<0.05). Eighteen different metabolites were selected, among which six (N-acetylmethionine, L-methionine, L-lysine, DL-phenylalanine, L-tyrosine, and L-isoleucine) had receiver operating characteristic curve areas greater than 0.7 for diagnosing OSAHS. Among them, N-acetylmethionine had the largest area under the curve, which was 0.807, with a sensitivity of 70.83% and a specificity of 80.65%. Correlation analysis between different metabolites and clinical indicators showed that there were positive correlations between the degree of tonsil enlargement and enterolactone, between uric acid and phenylacetaldehyde, between blood glucose and acetylmethionine, and between cholesterol and 9-bromodiphenyl and procaine (P<0.05). There were negative correlations between the degree of tonsil enlargement and N-methyltyramine, aspartate aminotransferase and indolepropionic acid and L-isoleucine, between alanine aminotransferase and DL-phenylalanine, between indolepropionic acid and L-isoleucine, between uric acid and hydroxyquinoline, and between urea nitrogen and N,N-dicyclohexylurea (P<0.05). The metabolic functional pathways affected by differential metabolites mainly included riboflavin metabolism, arginine and proline metabolism, pantothenic acid and coenzyme A biosynthesis, cysteine and methionine metabolism, lysine degradation and glutathione metabolism. CONCLUSIONS: Intestinal metabolites and metabolic functions are altered in children aged 4-6 years with OSAHS, primarily involving amino acid metabolism disorders. The screened differential intestinal metabolites have potential screening and diagnostic value as biomarkers for OSAHS.
