RESUMO

Glaucoma is a progressive, irreversible loss of retinal ganglion cells (RGCs) and axons that results in characteristic optic atrophy and corresponding progressive visual field defect. The exact mechanisms underlying glaucomatous neuron loss are not clear. The main risk factor for glaucoma onset and development is high intraocular pressure (IOP), however traditional IOP-lowering therapies are often not sufficient to prevent degeneration of RGCs and the vision loss may progress, indicating the need for complementary neuroprotective therapy. This review summarizes the progress for neuro protection in glaucoma in recent 5 years, including modulation of neuroinflammation, gene and cell therapy, dietary supplementation, and sustained-release system.

RESUMO

ObjectiveTo analyze the coping style and its relationship with anxiety status among middle school students aged 13 to 18 in Anhui province during the COVID-19 epidemic. MethodsFrom February 13 to 19, 2020, a cross-sectional survey was conducted among middle school students in Anhui province by using convenience sampling method and network questionnaire. The assessment tools included the Coping Style Scale for Middle School Students (CSSMSS) and the Screen for Child Anxiety Related Emotional Disorders (SCARED). ResultsThe results of the CSSMSS evaluation showed that female students scored higher in emotion abreaction than male students [(8.27±2.98) vs. (7.84±2.91)]. The scores of tolerance [(9.74±2.73) vs. (9.11±2.60)], escape [(7.82±2.79) vs. (7.26±2.44)], emotion abreaction [(8.48±2.97) vs. (7.91±2.93)] and fantasy/denial [(9.79±3.56) vs. (9.26±3.47)] of senior high school students were higher than those of junior high school students, and the score of problem solving [(19.38±4.07) vs. (20.33±4.54)] was lower than that of junior high school students, with statistical significance (P<0.05 or 0.01). Correlation analysis results showed that the scores of tolerance, escape, emotion abreaction and fantasy/deny in CSSMSS were positively correlated with the scores of SCARED of middle school students in Anhui province (r=0.348, 0.287, 0.390, 0.501, P<0.01). ConclusionDuring COVID-19 epidemic, students of different genders and grades in Anhui province have different coping styles, and some coping styles may induce anxiety status.

RESUMO

Objective To evaluate the safety and efficiency of the unibody bifurcate endografts in treating aortoiliac occlusive disease. Methods We performed a retrospective review of patients with aortoiliac occlusive disease who underwent endovascular revascularization with unibody bifurcated endografts. Data of demography, operative details, and outcomes were collected. Results From March 2016 to December 2017, 7 patients (6 males and 1 female) were treated using this endovascular technique. Technical success was achieved in all patients and there were no procedure related complications. The aortoiliac reconstructions remained patent within the median follow up of 11.0 (range 6.3-21.3) months, and all the patients clinically were improved an average of 1.71 Rutherford categories. Conclusions Endovascular repairment using an unibody bifurcated endograft for aortoiliac occlusive disease is feasible and effective, and has excellent short and midterm patency; however, the long?term patency need to be consequently observed.

RESUMO

Objective To observe the effect of sustained release type Ⅰ collagen-vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) on healing of bone-tendon junction injuries. Methods Partial patellectomy was conducted in 72 rabbits divided equally into control group, type Ⅰ collagen group, and collagen type Ⅰ-VEGF group. The scaffold was planted into the bone-tendon interface.Animals were sacrificed at 4,8 and 12 weeks.New bone formation into the patella-patella tendon surface was detected using X-ray films and histological observations.Quality of bone healing was assayed using biomechanical testing. Results At postoperative 4,8 and 12 weeks,X-ray films showed bone formation of type Ⅰ collagen group [(4.1 ± 0.4) mm2,(12.1 ± 0.5) mm2,(13.0 ± 1.2) mm2 respectively] and of collagen type Ⅰ-VEGF group [(3.8 ± 0.4) mm2,(11.0 ± 0.5) mm2,(13.1 ± 1.0) mm2 respectively] were more than that of control group [(2.1 ± 0.6) mm2,(4.1 ± 0.3) mm2,(6.6 ± 0.6) mm2 respectively] (P < 0.05).Histology identified few new bone, massive fibrocyte accumulation and disrupted alignment of tendon fiber in control group, massive new bone formation, neat and orderly alignment of collagen fiber tissues and massive aggrecan expression at postoperative 4 and 8 weeks (fibrous cartage repair in largely) in collagen type Ⅰ-VEGF group, and massive new bone formation but worse alignment of tendon collagen fibers and less aggrecan expression (fibrous repair in largely) in type Ⅰ collagen group.Biomechanical test showed the ultimate tensile strength increased over time in all groups, with significantly higher value at 12 weeks than that at 4 and 8 weeks. At the same time point, ultimate tensile strength ranged in an order as follows:collagen type Ⅰ-VEGF group > collagen type Ⅰ group > control group (P < 0.05).Conclusion Sustained release type Ⅰ collagen-VEGF can accelerate early healing of bone-tendon junction injury and improve the histological and mechanical properties.
