RESUMO
Results of examination and surgical treatment of 53 children and adolescents with lumbar disk herniation are presented. Examination revealed two types of neurological course of disease: the first type is observed in 75.5% of cases and is characterized by domination of radicular syndrome, and in the second type (24.5%) reflex syndrome is common. In children and adolescents with radicular type of course intralaminar approach was used, in reflex type--percutaneous nucleotomy.

A hundred and ten patients with brain abscesses have undergone surgical treatments: 8, 39, and 63 patients had aspiration, drainage, and removal of abscess with a capsule, respectively. Comparative analysis of surgical treatments revealed that removal of abscesses with a capsule was the most effective operation. Indications and contraindication to each surgical treatment of brain abscesses were defined.

The paper presents a clinical and neurological analysis of 110 patients with discal hernias who were divided into 2 groups: 1) 50 patients with normal sizes of the vertebral column; 2) 51 patients with its stenosis. Compression syndromes were major in all cases. In patients in whom discal hernia was concurrent with lumbar stenosis, the clinical course was characterized by dull or aching pains in the low back and legs, by symptoms of dysbasia neurasthenica intermittens, severe motor and sensory disorders with autonomic impositions.
