RESUMO

The article presents the findings of the Encefabol treatment of 50 patients aged 56-68 yy with vascular encephalopathy at the I-III stage, caused by atherosclerotic and high blood pressure pathological processes. The individual dose prescription of the medication to patients with vascular encephalopathy was substantiated in the article. The importance of psychodiagnostic tests in assessment of Encefabol treatment efficiency of the disease was shown in the article.

RESUMO

Chornobyl APS--after--effects liquidators were examined. While objective examination the following changes were registered in the patients: slowing down the rate of psychical activity (51%), lowering of mental labor efficiency; the patients spent a lot of time to carry out some kind of work. As the severity of the disease aggravated, the immune disturbances were growing.

RESUMO

Overall 300 patients aged between 35 to 40 years, suffering from constitutional vasoneurosis (CVN) were examined. The analysis of the time-related course of psychopathological manifestations in the above patients was found out to be of prognostic value: in a debut of CVN with vasovegetative disorders there develops discirculatory encephalopathy, that of CVN presenting with neurotic syndromes leads to different manifestations of anxious syndrome, panic attacks included.

RESUMO

The suggested mode of treatment combines the intravascular laser-light irradiation of blood with the visual analyzer exposure to light the brightness of which changes evenly and rhythmically with a frequency of 7-8 vibrations per minute (0.13 Hz). The combined use of the aforementioned exposures is justified due to the fact that exposure to both ionizing radiation and psychogenic factors play an important role in the pathogenesis of vegetovascular dystonia developing in the liquidators of the Chernobyl Atomic Power Plant breakdown. Change of lighting makes for the evolution of the inhibitory process in the cortex, has a sedative effect, attenuates the influence of psychotraumatizing factors. Intravascular laser-light irradiation of blood has a beneficial effect upon the organism's reactivity and immune system. Under the influence of the therapy adopted, all patients in present series (n = 67)--liquidators of the Chernobyl APP breakdown, suffering from VVD, demonstrated beneficial shifts both in the vegetovascular reactions and immune status, as evidenced by the analysis of the results of the presented mode of treatment in this patient population.

RESUMO

A total of 389 patients with cerebrovascular diseases who participated in liquidation of the Chernobyl power plant accident consequences were examined using rosette formation test and the cytotoxic method with monoclonal antibodies (MCAB). The predominant type of immunologic abnormalities found in 79.1% of patients was a marked reduction of CD4+ cell (T-helpers/inductors) count and a moderate reduction of CD8+ (T-suppressor/keller) count, this resulting in reduction of the CD4/CD8 coefficient. In 11.3% of the examinees CD(4+)-lymphocyte count was reduced and CD8+ count was within the normal range, in 6.2% both CD4+ and CD8+ counts were reduced, and in 3.4% CD4+ count was reduced and CD8+ moderately elevated. Results of theophylline test did not coincide with those of CD4+ and CD8+ measurements in 44.2% of cases.

RESUMO

The examination of 286 subjects exposed to radiation hazards when taking part in liquidation of the Chernobyl accident aftereffects was performed to compare persons living under ecologically unfavourable conditions (significant air pollution due to heavy industry) against those living in relatively comfortable environment. It was found that immune status of the former displayed imbalance. In the latter immunity was much less damaged. The findings suggest a conclusion on the role of environmental factors in immunological disturbances in subjects exposed to small doses of ionizing radiation.

RESUMO

Neurological, psychiatric, somatic and immune status were studied in 256 patients subjected to ionizing radiation at the dose of 10-45 cGy during liquidation of aftermath of the Chernobyl accident. In 61% of them neurocirculatory dystonia was found, 39% of patients revealed dyscirculatory encephalopathy. Alongside with dystonic disorders structural changes of vessels were detected. Asthenoneurosis diagnosed in 97% of patients was recognized as a key syndrome in 53%, while in 23%--obsessional-phobic syndrome dominated, in 7%--depressive syndrome and in 14%--psycho-organic syndrome were at the foreground. Somatic status in most patients (67%) was burdened by diseases of digestive tract. 191 patients revealed considerable immune imbalance. In 95 patients (33%) it was less pronounced and consisted in moderate decrease of TPR/TPS ratio. Degrees of immune and neurological disorders correlated closely. The conclusion was made that low-dose radiation induces primary damage of immunity and vessels with secondary nervous system involvement. That is why connection between neurological symptoms and radiation in subjects who took part in liquidation of Chernobyl accident aftermath may be considered probable only in association with immune and circulatory disorders.

RESUMO

A study covering 100 sinistral and 100 dextral neurotic children revealed a higher percentage of persons with manifestations of motor disinhibition, phobias and anxiety among sinistral children. It was also in this group that a considerable number of children presented at the beginning of schooling such phenomena as "mirror" writing and attempts of reading and counting from right to left. Elements of "mirror" thinking seemed to explain difficulties in learning writing and reading observed in such children. The authors discuss the questions of prophylactic measures in sinistral children with neuroses.
