RESUMO

Cingulacarus Elsen is a monotypic genus of Trigynaspida based on C. gangeticus Elsen, collected from the scarabaeid beetle Scarabaeus gangeticus (Castelnau) (Col., Scarabaeidae) in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Herein, a second species of the genus, C. kermanensis sp. nov. is described based on female and male specimens collected in southeastern Iran, in association with Oryctes elegans L. (Col., Scarabaeidae). The diagnosis of the genus Cingulacarus is revised, with a discussion of the impact on current generic keys for the family Diplogyniidae, and a proposal to eliminate the current subfamilial classification within that family.

RESUMO

A new species of the genus Pseudoleptus Bruyant, 1911 (Tenuipalpidae), Pseudoleptus avicennai sp. nov., is described and illustrated based on female specimens collected from bermudagrass, Cynodon dactylon (Poaceae), in Iran. This is the first report of C. dactylon as a host plant for Tenuipalpidae in Iran. In addition, the species Neopetrobia (Neopetrobia) mcgregori (Pritchard & Baker, 1955) (Tetranychidae) and Linotetranus sibiriensis Khaustov & Khaustov, 2023 (Linotetranidae) are recorded for the first time from Iran.

RESUMO

The concept of the genus Sessiluncus G. Canestrini is reviewed, based on a review of the literature and examination of some described and undescribed species. An updated diagnosis of the genus is presented. Valid species of Sessiluncus and their most diagnostic morphological characters are listed. The male of S. aegypticus Nasr Afifi, 1986 is described for the first time based on specimens collected in Egypt, and the female is redescribed from specimens collected in Egypt and Iran. Sessiluncus oculatus Vitzthum, 1935 is reported from Panama, and supplementary information on S. hungaricus Karg, 1964 and S. oculatus is presented. The labrum, paralabrum and paralabral stylus of S. aegpticus are also described. The idiosomal adenotaxy and poroidotaxy of the genus are described and discussed.

RESUMO

A new monotypic mite genus of the family Laelapidae, Persicolaelaps gen. nov., is described to accommodate a new species, P. hallidayi sp. nov., on the basis of adult female specimens collected from decaying wood, soil and litter in northern Iran, Golestan and Mazandaran provinces, respectively. The new genus can be distinguished from other members of the family by a combination of morphological attributes, some of which are unique or rarely observed in laelapids, such as (1) a series of small subrectangular sclerites flanking dorsally coxae I and gnathosomal base and adjoining podal plates anterolaterally, which are extending from and fused with sternal shield between coxae I and II; (2) an epigynal shield, so broad as to reach or even overlap acetabula III-IV, posteriorly axe-shaped; (3) metasternal setae absent; (4) a typical anal shield, though capturing pair of opisthogastric setae JV3; (5) gnathotectum triangular and acuminate; (6) the presence of six setae on trochanter IV; (7) genu IV with two ventral setae (occasional in Laelapidae); (8) internal malae with a series of thick, elongate filaments.

RESUMO

We describe a new species of Platyseius Berlese, 1916 belonging to the subglaber species group, P. persicus sp. nov., on the basis of adult females collected in moist soil and litter in Kashmar, northeastern Iran and Nowshahr, northern Iran. A key to females of Platyseius is presented.

RESUMO

In this paper, a new species of the genus Nenteria Oudemans, 1915 is described on the basis of adult female and male specimens collected in soil and litter in parks in Kerman, southeastern Iran, and Tehran, northern Iran. A key to the Iranian species of Nenteria is also presented, and Trachycilliba abantica (Bal & Ozkan, 2007) is reported for the first time in Iran.

RESUMO

A new species of the genus Laelaspis Berlese, Laelaspis elongatus sp. n. is described based on adult female and male specimens collected in association with Pheidole pallidula (Nylander) (Hym., Formicidae) in Ahwaz, Khuzestan Province, southwestern Iran, and also Acinopus (Acinopus) picipes (Olivier) (Col., Carabidae) in Bam, Kerman Province, southeastern Iran.

RESUMO

A short diagnosis and a more detailed diagnosis of the genus Laelaspis are presented. Until now, a total of 40 described species belong to the genus, including a new species described here, and excluding the four following species previously described as Laelaspis or Hypoaspis (Laelaspis): L. badrii Nasr & Nawar [considered as Cosmolaelaps badrii comb. nov.], L. zuluensis Trägårdh, Hypoaspis (L.) lawrencei Van Aswegen & Loots, and Hypoaspis (L.) latodentis Karg. In addition, L. morazae sp. nov., is described on the basis of adult female and male specimens associated with Lepisiota semenovi (Ruzsky) (Formicidae) in Mashad County, northeastern Iran, and in the nest of an unknown ant in Shahreza County, central Iran. Laelaspis persicus is redescribed based on the holotype, paratype and additional specimens collected in north, southeastern and southwestern Iran.

RESUMO

Two new species of laelapid mites of the genus Gaeolaelaps Evans & Till are described based on adult females collected from soil and litter in Kerman Province, southeastern Iran, and Mazandaran Province, northern Iran. Gaeolaelaps jondishapouri Nemati & Kavianpour is redescribed based on the holotype and additional specimens collected in southeastern Iran. The concept of the genus is revised to incorporate some atypical characters of recently described species. Finally, some morphological attributes with potential to define natural species groupings as well as hypoaspidine genera are discussed, particularly idiosomal gland pores and poroids.
