Osteogenesis imperfecta (OI) patients usually sustain repeated fractures from trivial trauma and also have skeletal deformities that affect walking. The bone fragility and repeated fractures produce deformities of the long bones especially in femur and tibia. However, neck of femur (NOF) fractures in OI are rarely described. A 11-year-old male patient known to have OI (Sillence type IV) sustained a NOF fracture after a fall. He also had proximal femoral anterolateral bowing proximally and over an intramedullary (IM) rod inserted 4 years back. He was treated by corrective osteotomy and stabilisation with an IM telescoping nail for the deformed femur and the Wagner technique for the NOF fracture. One year after operation, the patient had recovered satisfactory functional outcome with union of the NOF fracture and correction of the femoral deformity. Conclusion: The method of the Wagner technique can achieve stable fixation for femoral neck fractures and introduces the least interference with concurrent telescoping nail insertion. Despite the many articles about activated carbon with different precursors in adsorption process, no in-depth research has been carried out to understand the causes of the difference in surface adsorption characteristics of activated carbon with different precursors and different activation processes. In this work, the ability of two active carbon adsorbents made of walnut shell and peach kernel by two chemical and physical methods (totally 4 different types of activated carbon) in treatment of oily wastewater including diesel, gasoline, used oil or engine lubricant has been compared. The results show that the chemical activated peach carbon active with 97% hardness has provided the highest hardness and physical activated walnut carbon active has obtained the lowest hardness value (87%). It is also found that peach activated carbon has a higher iodine number than walnut activated carbon, and this amount can be increased using chemical methods; Therefore, the highest amount of Iodine Number is related to Peach activated carbon that is made by chemical method (1230 mg/g), and the lowest amount of iodine number is seen in walnut activated carbon that is made by physical method (1020 mg/g). moreover, the pore diameter of physical activated carbon is lower than chemical activated carbon in all cases. So that the pore diameter of chemical activated peach carbon active is equal to 22.08 µm and the measured pore diameter of physical activated peach carbon active is equal to 20.42 µm. These values for walnut are obtained as 22.74 µm and 21.86 µm, respectively. Furthermore, the temperature and pH effects on the adsorption of different synthesized oily wastewater was studied and it was found that a decrease in adsorption can be seen with an increase in temperature or decreasing the pH value, which can be referred to this fact that the process of adsorption is an exothermic process. Finally, to analyze the compatibility of adsorption isotherms with experimental data and to predict the adsorption process, three different isotherms named Langmuir, Temkin, and Freundlich isotherms were applied and their parameters were correlated. The correlation results show that the Langmuir isotherm had the best correlation in all cases compared to the Freundlich and Temkin isotherms, based on the correlation coefficient, and the calculated R2 values which was greater than 0.99 in all the studied cases.

Modern radiotherapy machines offer a new modality, like flattening filter-free beam (FFF), which is used especially in stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT) to reduce treatment time. The remaining volume at risk (RVR) is known as undefined normal tissue, and assists in evaluating late effects such as carcinogenesis. This study aimed to compare the effects of flattening and un-flattened beams on RVR in lung cancer treated by conventional doses using volumetric modulated arc therapy (VMAT) and intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT). Twenty-three lung cancer patients with a prescribed dose of 60 Gy delivered in 30 fractions were selected retrospectively. Four treatment plans were generated for each case (VMAT FF, VMAT FFF, IMRT FF and IMRT FFF). Mean doses to RVR and volumes that received low doses (V15Gy, V10Gy and V5Gy) were introduced as RVR evaluation parameters. Variance percentage comparison between flattening filter (FF) and FFF for the RVR evaluation parameters gave 2.38, 1.10, 1.80 and 2.22 for VMAT, and 1.73, 1.18, 1.62 and 1.81 for IMRT. In contrast, VMAT and IMRT RVR evaluation parameters resulted in variance percentage differences of 10.29, 5.02, - 8.84 and - 4.82 for FF, and 11.18, 4.96, - 8.59 and - 4.48for FFF. It is concluded that in terms of RVR evaluation parameters, FFF is clinically beneficial compared to FF for RVR, due to the decrease in mean RVR dose and low-dose irradiated RVR volume. Furthermore, VMAT is preferred in the mean RVR dose and V15Gy, while IMRT is better in V10Gy and V5Gy for RVR.

PURPOSE: The current cross-sectional study aims to introduce a new method for the labiopalatal positioning and angulation of immediately placed dental implants in the anterior maxilla with relation to the type of abutment used (straight/angled abutment). MATERIAL AND METHODS: Cone beam computed tomography scans from the database of a private practice were searched for patients who received immediate implants in anterior maxilla. After superimposition of the initial and post-operative scans, incisal/root angle (IRA), incisal/implant angle (IIA) and the difference between both angles were measured. Furthermore, assessment of whether the implant position would be lying within the safe angle or not. Age, gender, tooth/implant site and type of prosthetic abutment (straight/angled) were retrieved from patients' records. RESULTS: Seventy-four patients with a total of 95 immediate implants were selected for analysis. In regard to the type of abutment, 76 (80%) were straight, while 19 abutments (20%) were angled. Regardless of abutment type, 72 implants (75.8%) lay within the safe angle while 23 implants (24.2%) did not lie within the safe angle. All 19 implants with angled abutments were not lying within the safe angle. There was a statistically significant association between type of abutment, IRA, difference between IIA and IRA, gender and lying within the safe angle (P-value <0.001, OR = 19, P-value <0.001, Effect size = 0.904, P-value <0.001, Effect size = 1.209 and P-value <0.001, OR = 2.995 respectively). There was no statistically significant association between IIA, site or age and lying within the safe angle (P-value = 0.757, Effect size = 0.063, P-value = 0.200, Effect size = 0.184 and P-value = 0.387 Effect size = 0.208, respectively). There was a statistically significant association between IRA, difference between IIA and IRA and type of abutment (P-value = 0.001, Effect size = 0.762, P-value <0.001, Effect size = 1.056, respectively). CONCLUSIONS: The Safe Angle Concept can be used as a reliable planning tool to choose the correct IIP position in the anterior maxilla. Applying the safe angle concept will decrease the use of angled abutment for prosthetic correction.

Intravenous thrombolysis (IVT) may be administered to stroke patients requiring immediate treatment more quickly than emergency medical services if certain conditions are met. These conditions include the presence of mobile stroke units (MSUs) with on-site treatment teams and a computed tomography scanner. We compared clinical outcomes of MSU conventional therapy by emergency medical services through a systematic review and meta-analysis. We searched key electronic databases from inception till September 2021. The primary outcomes were mortality at 7 and 90 days. The secondary outcomes included the modified Rankin Scale score at 90 days, alarm to IVT or intra-arterial recanalization, and time from symptom onset or last known well to thrombolysis. We included 19 controlled trials and cohort studies to conduct our final analysis. Our comparison revealed that 90-day mortality significantly decreased in the MSU group compared with the conventional care group [risk ratio = 0.82; 95% confidence interval (CI), 0.71-0.95], while there was no significant difference at 7 days (risk ratio = 0.89; 95% CI, 0.69-1.15). MSU achieved greater functional independence (modified Rankin Scale = 0-2) at 90 days (risk ratio = 1.08; 95% CI, 1.01-1.16). MSU was associated with shorter alarm to IVT or intra-arterial recanalization time (mean difference = -29.69; 95% CI, -34.46 to -24.92), treating patients in an earlier time window, as shown through symptom onset or last known well to thrombolysis (mean difference = -36.79; 95% CI, -47.48 to -26.10). MSU-treated patients had a lower rate of 90-day mortality and better 90-day functional outcomes by earlier initiation of IVT compared with conventional care.

The evolving landscape of early onset scoliosis management has shifted from the traditional paradigm of early definitive spinal fusion towards modern growth-friendly implants, particularly Growing Rods (GR). Despite the initial classification of GR treatment as a fusionless procedure, the phenomenon of autofusion has emerged as a critical consideration in understanding its outcomes. Studies have demonstrated the presence of autofusion since the early 1980s. The consequences of autofusion are extensive, impacting curve correction, diminishing trunk growth rate, and contributing to the "law of diminishing returns" in growing rod surgery. The literature suggests that autofusion may complicate definitive fusion surgery, leading to prolonged and intricate procedures involving multiple osteotomies. Additionally, it poses challenges in identifying anatomical landmarks during surgery, potentially increasing the risk of complications and revisions. While autofusion poses challenges to achieving optimal outcomes in growing rod treatment, it cannot be considered a standalone replacement for definitive fusion. Recent advances aim to limit autofusion and enhance treatment outcomes. In this review, we will delve into the existing literature on autofusion, examining studies that have documented its presence, probable causes, pathophysiology, potential implications for long-term patient outcomes, and possible new implants and techniques that decrease its incidence.

Background and Objectives: Although immunization against coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is ongoing, adverse reactions to these vaccinations have been observed in isolated cases. We aimed to report different neurological complications developed after COVID-19 vaccination. Materials and Methods: In our case series study, we report all cases of CNS demyelination following COVID-19 immunization. Clinical evaluation, brain MRI, and CSF analysis for oligoclonal bands and IgG index were performed for all patients. Other investigations were performed for selected patients, including spine MRI, EEG, VEP, and aquaporin-4. Results: Eighteen patients (eight males and ten females) with no history of COVID-19 infection had neurological manifestations (vertigo, ataxia, recurrent attacks of loss of consciousness, optic neuritis, and myelitis) starting within 14 days after Pfizer (n = 12) and AstraZeneca (n = 6) vaccination. MRI was obtained during the acute stage of the disease. The most common presenting symptoms were optic neuritis and hemiparesis. Sixteen patients had altered signal intensity and multiple variable-sized, round to ill-defined oval lesions suggestive of MS. Two showed findings compatible with transverse myelitis. Conclusion: This study identified CNS demyelination complications after COVID-19 vaccination. The COVID-19 vaccination could result in CNS complications, possibly connected to a post-vaccination inflammatory process. We recommend continuous post-marketing monitoring for adverse reactions in individuals who received the vaccines to establish a connection and guarantee the long-term safety of COVID-19 vaccines.

Pediatric knee deformities are common, and the classic treatment is corrective osteotomy. The aim of this study to assess the safety and efficacy of percutaneous low-energy osteotomy and casting with shanz screws fixation in treatment of Genu varum in children equal or younger than 7 years. This is a prospective nonrandomized case series study was conducted. A total of 38 patients (total of 60 limbs: 36 varus and 24 valgus) were treated by percutaneous low-energy osteotomy and casting with shanz screws fixation and observed over 2-5 years. Clinical and radiological outcomes were evaluated at the end of follow-up period by standing scanogram which enabled tibiofemoral angles and the mechanical axis to be measured and the rate of complications. There was a statistically significant improvement of the radiographic parameters in the form of tibiofemoral angle and MAD. Clinically, all the cases were completely corrected just one patient (two limbs) complicated by over-correction but statically non-significant and. pin tract infection in shanz screws fixation was noticed in one Patient. Percutaneous low-energy osteotomy and casting with shanz screws fixation is a simple, safe, and effective method in dealing with 7 years and younger children with pathological knee deformities. Level of evidence: Therapeutic level IV.

Introduction: Wide-awake local anesthesia and no tourniquet (WALANT) represents a revolutionary technique for hand surgeons who dismiss tourniquets and sedation. In this study, we present our experience with the WALANT technique in primary flexor tendon injuries of the hand. Patient and methods: This prospective research was carried out on 30 patients undergoing hand primary, flexor tendon repair surgery. Flexor tendon injury zones 2, 3, 4, and 5 were included. WALANT was prepared and injected. The tendons were surgically managed by a cruciate single cross-stitched locked 4-strand technique. The pain was assessed using a visual analog scale (VAS) score. The range of motion (ROM) of affected fingers was assessed according to the Strickland evaluation system. Results: There was a highly significant relationship between the patient's compliance with physiotherapy and obtained ROM of the affected finger with a P value <0.001. During injection of WALANT solution, 4 cases (13.3%) had no pain, 25 cases (83.3%) had mild pain (score 1-4), and 1 case (3.3%) had moderate pain (score 5-7). Conclusion: WALANT provides an optimal bloodless and comfortable field with an opportunity to assess the strength of tendon repair, gapping or triggering and managing them intra-operatively.

Background: Gluteal pressure ulcers are a common problem, associated with great morbidity and cost, and their surgical treatment includes debridement with complete bursectomy, followed by soft tissue coverage. Gluteal artery perforator flaps and gluteal fasciocutaneous flaps are commonly preferred for reconstruction because they preserve the gluteal muscle, allowing for revision in recurrent cases. The aim of this study was to evaluate the differences between these two flaps in the reconstruction of gluteal pressure ulcers regarding operative time, postoperative hospital stay, postoperative complications, and recurrence. Methods: This prospective comparative study was conducted on 30 patients who presented with stage IV gluteal pressure ulcers. Patients were randomly allocated into two equal groups: each group consisted of 15 patients. Cases in group A were reconstructed using gluteal artery perforator flaps, and those in group B were reconstructed using local fasciocutaneous flaps. Results: There was statistically significant long operative time and short postoperative hospital stay in gluteal artery perforator flaps when compared with local fasciocutaneous flaps. Also, the fasciocutaneous group reported a higher nonsignificant complication rate when compared with the gluteal perforator group. No recurrent cases were reported, and most patients had satisfactory outcomes in both groups. Conclusion: Both techniques are safe, reliable, and effective and can be considered as a first-line option in the reconstruction of gluteal pressure ulcers.

Haemonchosis is a worldwide helminthic disease affecting ruminants. The anthelminthic resistance has become raised. Medicinal plants are safely used as synthetic anthelmintics. Currently, the efficacy of black pepper essential oil (BPO) and tea tree oil (TTO) were in vitro evaluated against Haemonchus contortus adults, eggs and larvae at concentrations of 1.25, 2.5 and 5 mg/ml in addition to the commercially used albendazole at a concentration of 10 µg/ml. Oils were used in both normal and nanoparticles-loaded forms. Oxidative stress enzymes of worms were estimated. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) for treated worms was done. Both normal and nanoemulsion forms of both BPO and TTO stopped the adult motility [BPO 2.5 h (hrs), NBPO 1.5 h, TTO 3 h, NTTO 1.5 h] and induced a marked decrease in the oviposition. Post treatment, the egg development and hatching were significantly (P ≤ 0.05) reduced. The damage of the egg shell, embryonal cessation and destruction of larvae occurred. Noticeable elevated antioxidant enzymes (catalase CAT, glutathione transferase GST and glutathione GSH) were found, while oxidative enzymes (lipid peroxidation LPO and nitric oxide synthase NOS) decreased. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) for both oil-treated worms revealed anterior ends damage and several cuts associated with cuticular pores. The use of albendazole induced more or less anthelmintic and enzymatic activities with less morphological alterations of adults revealed by SEM. This study proved the marked anthelmintic potency of the BPO and TTO and their nanoemulsion forms against H. contortus rather than the widely used anthelmintic drugs.

The aim of this study was to evaluate the radiographic and clinical outcomes of patients undergoing sinus membrane elevation via a minimally invasive crestal approach utilizing the dental implant. Twenty patients having 1 or more missing posterior teeth were included. The maxillary sinus membrane was elevated using dental implant via a crestal approach in areas with insufficient residual bone. CBCT scans were used to measure the amount of newly formed bone, implant length inside the sinus, bucco-palatal sinus width, and bone thickness. Surgical and postsurgical complications along with implant survival were also measured. The mean (±SD) values for the newly formed bone after 1 year were 2.4 (±1.87) mm, while values for implant length inside the sinus were 4 (±1.49) mm. The results showed that percentage of implant length inside the sinus and the palatal bone thickness were statistically significant positive predictors of the newly formed bone. Higher percentage of implant length inside the sinus and increased palatal bone thickness were associated with larger amounts of newly formed bone. A high patient satisfaction was reported along with a 100% implant survival. The utilization of the novel dental implant approach for crestal sinus elevation demonstrated predictable clinical and radiographic outcomes. This novel technique is simple to both patients and clinicians, rendering it a promising and cost-efficient procedure.

Waste tyre rubber has become an environmental and health concern that needs to be sustainably managed to avoid fire hazards and save natural resources. This research work aims to study the structural behavior of glass fiber reinforced polymer (glass-FRP) reinforced rubberized concrete (GRC) compressive elements under monotonic axial compression loads. Nine GRC circular compressive elements with different axial and crosswise reinforcement ratios were fabricated. All the elements were 300 mm in diameter and 1200 mm in height. A 3D nonlinear finite element equation (FEM) was suggested for the GRC compressive elements using a commercial package ABAQUS. A parametric study has been done to examine the effect of various parameters of GRC elements. The test outcomes revealed that the ductility of GRC elements ameliorated with the lessening in the spaces of glass-FRP ties. The addition of rubberized concrete improved the ductility of GRC elements. The damage to GRC elements occurred due to the vertical cracking along the height of the elements. The estimates of FEM were in close agreement with the test outcomes. The suggested empirical equation depending on the 600 test elements, which considered the lateral confinement effect of FRP ties, presented higher accuracy than previous equations.

In response to changes in climatic patterns, a profound comprehension of air pollutants (AP) variability is vital for enhancing climate models and facilitating informed decision-making in nations susceptible to climate change. Earlier research primarily depended on limited models, potentially neglecting intricate relationships and not fully encapsulating associations. This study, in contrast, probed the spatiotemporal variability of airborne particles (CO, CH4, SO2, and NO2) under varying climatic conditions within a climate-sensitive nation, utilizing multiple regression models. Spatial and seasonal AP data were acquired via the Google Earth Engine platform, which indicated elevated AP concentrations in primarily urban areas. Remarkably, the average airborne particle levels were lower in 2020 than in 2019, though they escalated during winter. The study employed linear regression, Pearson's correlation (PC), Spearman rank correlation models, and Geographically Weighted Regression (GWR) models to probe the relationship between pollutant variability and climatic elements such as rainfall, temperature, and humidity. Across all seasons, APs showed a negative correlation with rainfall while displaying positive correlations with temperature and humidity. The GWR and PC models produced the most reliable results from all the models employed, with the GWR model superseding the rest. Moreover, heightened aerosol levels were detected within a rainfall range of 600 mm/season, a temperature range of 25-30 °C, and humidity levels of 75 %-85 %. Overall, this study emphasizes the growing levels of APs in correlation with meteorological changes. By adopting a comprehensive approach and considering multiple factors, this research provides a more sophisticated understanding of the relationship between AP variability and climatic shifts.

When it comes to harvesting operations, precision agriculture needs to consider both combine harvester technology and the precise execution of the process to eliminate harvest losses and minimize out-of-work time. This work aims to propose a complete control framework defined by a two-layer-based algorithm and a simulation environment suitable for quantitative harvest loss, time, and consumption analyses. In detail, the path-planning layer shows suitable harvesting techniques considering field boundaries and irregularities, while the path-tracking layer presents a vision-guided Stanley Lateral Controller. In order to validate the developed control framework, challenging driving scenarios were created using IPG-CarMaker software to emulate wheat harvesting operations. Results showed the effectiveness of the designed controller to follow the reference trajectory under regular field conditions with zero harvest waste and minimum out-of-work time. Whereas, in presence of harsh road irregularities, the reference trajectory should be re-planned by either selecting an alternative harvesting method or overlapping the harvester header by some distance to avoid missing crops. Quantitative and qualitative comparisons between the two harvesting techniques as well as a relationship between the level of irregularities and the required overlap will be presented. Eventually, a Driver-in-the-loop (DIL) framework is proposed as a methodology to compare human and autonomous driving.

BACKGROUND: Patients with Parkinson's disease (PD) have been reported to exhibit unusual bouts of creativity (e.g., painting, writing), in particular in the context of treatment with dopaminergic agents. Here we investigated divergent and convergent thinking thought to underlie creativity. In addition we assessed cognitive estimation. METHOD: Twenty PD patients and 20 matched healthy control participants were subjected to the Guilford Alternate Uses task (divergent thinking), the remote associates task (convergent thinking) and two tests of cognitive estimation. RESULTS: No group differences were found for the convergent thinking task, while the Guilford Alternate Uses task revealed a decreased number of correct responses and a reduced originality for PD patients. Originality in PD was correlated to total daily dose of dopaminergic medication. Moreover, both tasks of cognitive estimation showed an impairment in PD. CONCLUSION: Only minor effects were found for psychometric indices of subprocesses of creative thinking, while estimation, relying on executive functioning, is impaired in PD. We suggest to take a product oriented view of creativity in further research on altered creative processes in PD.

Urease is one of the most significant enzymes in the industry. The objective of this research was to isolate and partially purify urease from Vicia sativa seeds with urease characterization. With a 6.4 % yield, the purification fold was 9.0. By using chromatography, it was determined that the isolated urease had a molecular weight of 55 kDa. The maximum urease activity was found following a 60-s incubation period at 40 °C and pH 8. The activity of urease was significantly boosted by a mean of calcium, barium, DL-dithiothreitol, Na2EDTA, and citrate (16.9, 26.6, 18.6, 13.6, and 31 %), respectively. But nickel and mercury caused inhibitory effects and completely inhibited urease activity, indicating the presence of a thiol (-SH) group in the enzyme active site. The Arrhenius plot was used to analyze the thermodynamic constants of activation, Ea, ΔH*, ΔG*, and ΔS*. The results showed that the values were 30 kJ/mol, 93.14 kJ/mol, 107.17 kJ/mol/K, and -40.80 J/mol/K, respectively. The significance of urease extraction from various sources may contribute to our understanding of the metabolism of urea in plants. The current report has novelty as it explained for the first time the kinetics and thermodynamics of hydrolysis of urea and inactivation of urease from V. sativa seeds.

This study introduces a plasmonic reduction catalyst, stable only in the presence of air, achieved by integrating Pt-doped Ru nanoparticles on black gold. This innovative black gold/RuPt catalyst showcases good efficiency in acetylene semi-hydrogenation, attaining over 90% selectivity with an ethene production rate of 320 mmol g-1 h-1. Its stability, evident in 100 h of operation with continuous air flow, is attributed to the synergy of co-existing metal oxide and metal phases. The catalyst's stability is further enhanced by plasmon-mediated concurrent reduction and oxidation of the active sites. Finite-difference time-domain simulations reveal a five-fold electric field intensification near the RuPt nanoparticles, crucial for activating acetylene and hydrogen. Kinetic isotope effect analysis indicates the contribution from the plasmonic non-thermal effects along with the photothermal. Spectroscopic and in-situ Fourier transform infrared studies, combined with quantum chemical calculations, elucidate the molecular reaction mechanism, emphasizing the cooperative interaction between Ru and Pt in optimizing ethene production and selectivity.

Due to growing environmental concerns for better waste management, this study proposes developing a composite aerogel using cellulose nanofibers (CNF) and spent coffee grounds (SCG) through an eco-friendly method for efficient methylene blue (MB) adsorption. Adding SCG to the CNF aerogel altered the physical properties: it increases the volume (4.14 cm3 to 5.25 cm3) and density (0.018 to 0.022 g/cm3) but decrease the water adsorption capacity (2064 % to 1635 %). FTIR spectrum showed distinct functional groups in both all aerogels, showing hydroxyl, glyosidic bonds, and aromatic compounds. Additionally, SCG improved thermal stability of the aerogels. In term of adsorption efficacy, CNF-SCG40% aerogel as exceptionally well. According to Langmuir isotherm models, the adsorption of MB happened in a monolayer, with CNF-SCG40% showing a maximum adsorption capacity of 113.64 mg/g, surpassing CNF aerogel (58.82 mg/g). The study identified that the pseudo-second-order model effectively depicted the adsorption process, indicating a chemical-like interaction. This investigation successfully produced a single-use composite aerogel composed of CNF and SCG using an eco-friendly approach, efficiently adsorbing MB. By utilizing cost-effective materials and eco-friendly methods, this approach offers a sustainable solution for waste management, contributes to an eco-friendly industrial environment, and reduces production expenses and management costs.

Sustained low-efficiency dialysis (SLED) is usually performed over 6-12 h among hemodynamically unstable patients. Conduction of 4-h SLED may spare time and manpower during hospitalization. Therefore, we conducted a retrospective observational study to explore the appropriateness and clinical outcomes of 4-h SLED among critically ill patients admitted to our center from 1/06/2016 to 1/06/2020. Renal parameters including blood urea nitrogen, serum creatinine, sodium, phosphorus, potassium, and bicarbonate were determined on the day of dialysis before SLED and within 24 h after SLED, and clinical outcomes including, acute kidney injury (AKI) recovery, in-hospital mortality, 30-day mortality, 180-day mortality, and re-admission with AKI, were evaluated. Of the 304 patients included, 69.4% were male. The majority of patients were from the Middle East (65.8%), followed by 28.6% from Asia. Four-hour SLED resulted in a significant improvement in the renal parameters. Recovery from AKI was observed in 25.4%, in-hospital mortality rate was 48.7%, while the 30- and 180-day mortality outcomes were 3.2 and 9.6%, respectively, and re-admission with AKI was observed in 16.9%. Our findings suggest that 4-h SLED significantly improved renal parameters and was associated with favorable clinical outcomes in terms of survival and AKI recovery, suggesting possible utilization of SLED shorter than 6 h in the acute settings to preserve time and manpower for procedures.
