RESUMO

The complex [(PNHP)Fe(H)(CO)(HBH3)] (PNHP = HN(CH2CH2Pi-Pr2)2) serves as a catalyst precursor for the selective dehydrocoupling of methylamine borane at room temperature, tentatively via an off-metal polymerisation pathway.

RESUMO

The synthesis of 3,5-disubstituted cyclometalated iridium(iii) hydrido complexes of the type [3,5-R2(POCOP)IrHX] (3,5-R2(POCOP) = κ3-C5HR2-2,6-(OPtBu2)2 with R = t-Bu, COOMe; X = Cl, H) is described. All complexes were investigated in the catalytic dehydrogenation of hydrazine borane and compared with the unsubstituted compounds [(POCOP)IrHX] (X = Cl, H). All catalysts are highly active and recyclable, clearly maintaining hydrogen production activity. The dehydrogenation products were structurally characterised by solid state NMR and FTIR spectroscopy. Experimental observations were complemented by a dispersion-corrected DFT study to rationalise the mechanism of hydrazine borane dehydrogenation.

RESUMO

This study obtained initial normative data on the temporal coordination of respiration and swallowing events in 12 young adults using a first-generation Respirodeglutometer. In addition, direction of airflow before and after deglutive apnea was obtained. Three swallows of two viscosities of bolus material were performed by each subject, yielding a total of 72 swallows. Qualitative and quanitative analyses were performed. Time of onset of submental surface electromyography and time of laryngeal movement were found to differ between males and females. Males began submental muscle contraction before females and laryngeal movement after females. Duration of deglutition apnea for all swallows was 0.75 +/- 0.14 sec. Expiration occurred before the deglutition apnea 93% of the time and after the deglutition apnea 100% of the time. A modal pattern of events obtained with the Respirodeglutometer was present in 42% of the swallows, and an additional 47% had only one event differ from that order.

RESUMO

The Teacher Approval-Disapproval Scale was administered to three groups of elementary school boys: those considered by a teacher as hyperactive and referrable; those considered as among the most active but not referrable; and normoactive classmates. The three groups of boys differed significantly in their responses to 8 of 11 individual scale items, which ask the child about the amount of teacher approval and disapproval directed toward himself personally or about the frequency of his own happiness and unhappiness in the classroom. The three groups of boys differed significantly on only 2 of 11 countepart class items, which ask the child about teacher behaviors toward the class as a whole or about the happiness and unhappiness of the entire class. The hyperactive boys said they received significantly less approval from m teachers from academic, motivational, and social behaviors than did the normoactive boys and significantly more general disapproval. The present study is among the few that report differences between hyperactive and comparison groups on self-report questionnaires. The results suggest that what appears to be greater teacher disapproval of boys than of girls may in fact be simply greater teacher disapproval of children with disruptive behavior problems, most of whom are boys.
