RESUMO

More and more clinical trials have explored the role of liquid biopsy in the diagnosis and treatment of EGFR-mutated NSCLC. In certain circumstances, liquid biopsy has unique advantages and offers a new way to detect therapeutic targets, analyze drug resistance mechanisms in advanced patients, and monitor MRD in patients with operable NSCLC. Although its potential cannot be ignored, more evidence is needed to support the transition from the research stage to clinical application. We reviewed the latest progress in research on the efficacy and resistance mechanisms of targeted therapy for advanced NSCLC patients with plasma ctDNA EGFR mutation and the evaluation of MRD based on ctDNA detection in perioperative and follow-up monitoring.

RESUMO

Benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV) is the most common vestibular peripheral vertigo disease characterized by brief recurrent vertigo with positional nystagmus. Clinically, it is common to recognize the patterns of nystagmus by analyzing infrared nystagmus videos of patients. However, the existing approaches cannot effectively recognize different patterns of nystagmus, especially the torsional nystagmus. To improve the performance of recognizing different nystagmus patterns, this paper contributes an automatic recognizing method of BPPV nystagmus patterns based on deep learning and optical flow to assist doctors in analyzing the types of BPPV. Firstly, we present an adaptive method for eliminating invalid frames that caused by eyelid occlusion or blinking in nystagmus videos and an adaptive method for segmenting the iris and pupil area from video frames quickly and efficiently. Then, we use a deep learning-based optical flow method to extract nystagmus information. Finally, we propose a nystagmus video classification network (NVCN) to categorize the patterns of nystagmus. We use ConvNeXt to extract eye movement features and then use LSTM to extract temporal features. Experiments conducted on the clinically collected datasets of infrared nystagmus videos show that the NVCN model achieves an accuracy of 94.91% and an F1 score of 93.70% on nystagmus patterns classification task as well as an accuracy of 97.75% and an F1 score of 97.48% on torsional nystagmus recognition task. The experimental results prove that the framework we propose can effectively recognize different patterns of nystagmus.

Four pairs of defective crystals exhibiting full-color emission and circularly polarized luminescence (CPL) with high luminescence dissymmetry factor (glum) values (∼3 × 10-3) were successfully obtained by doping dye molecules into the chiral crystalline metal cluster-based matrixes. The dye molecules function as defect inducers and confer fluorescence on the crystals. Studies reveal that electrostatic interactions provide the main impetus in generating defective crystals, and the restricted effect of chiral space and the weak interactions in defect crystal enable the efficient chiral transfer from the intrinsically chiral host silver(I) clusters to achiral luminescent dopants and finally induce them to emit bright CPL. This defect engineering strategy opens a new way to versatile functions for crystalline cluster-based materials.

Aim: We evaluated the incidence, clinicopathological features, prognostic factors and survival of gastric cancer (GC) with bone metastasis in a single large cancer center in China. Patients & methods: Patients with bone metastasis of GC were retrospectively analyzed. Overall survival was estimated using the Kaplan-Meier method. Clinicopathological factors, which were associated with prognostic factors for survival, were evaluated. Results: The incidence of bone metastasis was 11.3% for metastatic GC patients. Median overall survival time was 6.5 months. Multivariate analysis revealed two independent poor prognostic factors: Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group ≥2 (p = 0.023) and lack of palliative chemotherapy (p = 0.018). Conclusion: The incidence of bone metastasis from metastatic GC was underestimated. The prognosis of GC with bone metastasis was poor.

This study investigated the application effect of contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) and enhanced CT in diagnosis of liver cancer and response evaluation of radiofrequency ablation (RFA). A total of 60 patients with liver cancer were selected in Dongying People's Hospital from April 2016 to May 2017. All patients were subjected to CEUS and enhanced CT. With pathological examination as the gold standard, diagnostic consistency of the two methods was compared. After RFA, patients were subjected to CEUS and enhanced CT to assess the efficacy, and the consistency was compared. There was no significant difference in diagnostic accuracy between CEUS and CT (p>0.05). Area under the ROC curve of CEUS was 0.896, with a sensitivity of 91.2% and a specificity of 88.7%. The area under the ROC curve for enhanced CT diagnosis was 0.907, with a sensitivity of 91.8% and a specificity of 89.7%. No significant difference in the maximal cross sectional area of lesions was found between CEUS and enhanced CT, and there was no significant difference in evaluation of therapeutic efficiency between the methods (p>0.05) before and 1 and 3 months after treatment. Bland-Altman test showed that there was a strong consistency between CEUS and enhanced CT in the measured maximum cross-sectional area of lesions at 1 and 3 months after treatment. Linear regression analysis showed that maximum section cross-sectional area measured by CEUS was significantly correlated with that detected by enhanced CT (r2=0.617). The results suggested that diagnostic efficiency of CEUS was similar to that of enhanced CT, and both showed high sensitivity and specificity. Two methods showed high consistency in evaluating the curative effect of RFA. CEUS can achieve real-time observation of focal blood flow perfusion, and was more economically affordable and convenient.

RESUMO

Enantiopure ligands, namely (R,R)- and (S,S)-2,2'-(1,4-phenylene) bis(4,5-dihydrothiazole-4-carboxylic acid) (H2LRR, and H2LSS) were synthesized, and homochiral metallocyclic rings {Ni6LRR6(H2O)12} (1RR) and {Ni6LSS6(H2O)12} (1SS) were obtained and their structures were determined. The complexes exhibit excellent activity for the photocatalytic degradation of organic dyes.

The complete mitochondrial genome of Lernaea cyprinacea is 14,656 bp in size, containing 13 protein-coding genes (PCGs), 22 transfer RNA genes, two rRNA genes (12S and 16S), as well as two non-coding regions (NCRs, the control regions). The genome organization, nucleotide composition and codon usage do not differ significantly from other Copepodas. The complete mitogenome sequence information of L. cyprinacea provides useful data for further studies on phylogenetics, stock evaluation and conservation genetics.

The complete mitochondrial genome of Philometra carassii is 14,378 bp in size, containing 12 protein-coding genes (PCGs), 22 transfer RNA genes, 2 rRNA genes (12S and 16S), as well as one non-coding region (NCR, the control region), but lacks an atp8 gene. The genome organization, nucleotide composition and codon usage do not differ significantly from other nematodes. The complete mitogenome sequence information of P. carassii can provides useful data for further studies on phylogenetics, stock evaluation and conservation genetics.

Although organic light-emitting devices have been commercialized as flat panel displays since 1997, only singlet excitons were emitted. Full use of singlet and triplet excitons, electrophosphorescence, has attracted increasing attentions after the premier work made by Forrest, Thompson, and co-workers. In fact, red electrophosphorescent dye has already been used in sub-display of commercial mobile phones since 2003. Highly efficient green phosphorescent dye is now undergoing of commercialization. Very recently, blue phosphorescence approaching the theoretical efficiency has also been achieved, which may overcome the final obstacle against the commercialization of full color display and white light sources from phosphorescent materials. Combining light out-coupling structures with highly efficient phosphors (shown in the table-of-contents image), white emission with an efficiency matching that of fluorescent tubes (90 lm/W) has now been realized. It is possible to tune the color to the true white region by changing to a deep blue emitter and corresponding wide gap host and transporting material for the blue phosphor. In this article, recent progresses in red, green, blue, and white electrophosphorescent materials for OLEDs are reviewed, with special emphasis on blue electrophosphorescent materials.

OBJECTIVE: Some recent studies found that high prevalence of vitamin A deficiency in the breastfed children. This study aimed to understand the differences in serum retinol level between breastfed and bottle-fed children aged 0 to 23 months and the possible causes of low level of serum retinol for the breastfed children. METHODS: Data for children aged 0 to 23 months were extracted from a population-based cross sectional study for vitamin A nutrition status. Fluorescence method was used to measure the serum retinol. Mothers or caregivers were asked to answer a pre-designed questionnaire and socioeconomic status, peri-natal care, breastfeeding status, morbidity histories and other related factors were collected. Semi-quantitative food frequency questionnaire was used to investigate the child's dietary intake one week prior to the survey. Data were analyzed using SAS 8.1. RESULTS: Of 401 children aged 0 to 23 months, the breastfeeding rate was 50.37%. The means of the serum retinol level between bottle-fed (30.67 +/- 0.57) microg/dl and the breastfed children (27.60 +/- 0.56) microg/dl was significantly different (P < 0.01). The corresponding figures were (31.82 +/- 0.98) microg/dl and (29.46 +/- 0.96) microg/dl after adjustment for confounders, which also showed significant difference (P < 0.01). After stratified by age groups, the breastfeeding rates in the 0-, 6-, 12- and 18-months groups were 92.1%, 70.1%, 32.0% and 17.1%, respectively. We calculated the difference in means of the serum retinol level between the bottle-fed and breastfed children for each of four age groups, and the 95% confidence limits of the differences. The differences in means and the 95% confidence limits for 0-, 6-, 12- and 18-months group were 4.70 microg/dl (-2.52-1.92), 0.82 microg/dl (-2.32-3.95), 2.95 microg/dl (-0.68-6.58) and 6.05 microg/dl (2.34-9.77), respectively. After adjustment for confounders and covariates, the adjusted figures were 0.00 microg/dl (-7.18-7.19), 1.35 microg/dl (-1.76-4.45), 2.92 microg/dl (-0.82-6.65) and 4.26 microg/dl (0.71-7.81), respectively. The significant difference in means of serum retinol level was only found in the 18-months group before or after adjustments (P < 0.01 for both). The Cochrane-Atmitage chi square trend test showed that the breastfed children tended to have lower frequencies of complementary dietary intakes than that of the bottle-fed aged 12 months and above. CONCLUSIONS: The breastfed children aged 0 to 23 months had relative low serum retinol level while compared with the bottle-fed. However, the significant differences seemed to be only confined to those aged 18 months and above. Low level of vitamin A in breast milk and low frequent complimentary food supplements might have served as the potential for the differences.
