[A rehabilitative method for children operated on for Hirschsprung's disease]. / Metod reabilitatsii detei, operirovannykh po povodu bolezni Girshprunga.

The method of acupuncture may be used for postoperative rehabilitation of patients operated upon for Hirschsprung's disease. It can be one of main methods of treatment of postoperative complications which are of functional character. If there was no effect of the repeated course of acupuncture in patients with a long hypoganglionic zone of the descended gut, the latter must be resected within the healthy limits.

[Disorders of vital functions in acute peritonitis in children]. / Narushenie zhiznenno vazhnykh funktsii pri ostrom peritonite u detei.

Changes in vital functions in endotoxicosis were appraised in 41 patients with acute peritonitis during stages of intensive therapy in a complex fashion. Correlative relations were revealed between the severity of endotoxicosis and the function of blood circulation, blood gases, and respiration. Endotoxicosis was characterized by increased level of middle mass molecules, circulating immune complexes, leukocytic index of intoxication, asparagate and alanine transferase. Hemodynamics functioned in hyperdynamic regimen in the reactive stage of peritonitis, in the normodynamic regimen in the transitional stage, and in the hypodynamic regimen in the toxic stage. The immune status was inhibited in the toxic stage of peritonitis. Normalization of vital functions in the postoperative period occurred in parallel with decrease of the severity of endotoxicosis. The studied values approximated the average-age indices in patients with the toxic stage of peritonitis by postoperative days 7-10; sorption methods of detoxification were included in the complex intensive therapy measures in these children.

[Extracorporeal xenospleen perfusion in vial-bacterial pneumonia in children]. / Ekstrakorporal'naia perfuziia ksenoselezenki pri virusno-bakterial'noi pnevmonii u detei.

Extracorporeal perfusion of xenospleen was used in the management of 11 critically ill children with acute multisegmental pneumonia. The first 24 h were characterized by progressive mounting in blood O2 saturation, optimization of hemodynamics and immune status, decrease of toxemia. On days 4-7 after perfusion stabilization of clinical, laboratory and functional indexes was observed. Radiological findings of pulmonary infiltration disappeared 10-14 days after sorption and all the patients were transferred to a somatic unit.

[Extracorporeal perfusion of the xenospleen in the treatment of suppurative surgical diseases]. / Ekstrakorporal'naia perfuziia ksenoselezenki v lechenii gnoinykh khirurgicheskikh zabolevanii.

Extracorporal perfusion of the porcine xenospleen was used by the authors in 5 patients with purulent surgical diseases complicated by a septic reaction. Recovery was noted in 2 patients. In one of the patients the extracorporal perfusion of the xenospleen was used in a systemic lupus erythematosus complicated by vasculitic destruction of soft tissues with septic reaction. The effect was positive. The extracorporal perfusion of the porcine xenospleen is considered by the authors to be an effective method of detoxication of organism of patients with septic complications.
