RESUMO

Ternary nanohybrids based on mesoporous graphitic carbon nitride (g-C3N4) were synthesized and presented for developing stable and efficient Hydrogen (H2) production system. Based on photocatalytic activity, optimization was performed in three different stages to develop carbon nanotubes (CNTs) and WO3 loaded g-C3N4 (CWG-3). Initially, the effect of exfoliation was investigated, and a maximum specific surface area of 100.77 m2/g was achieved. 2D-2D interface between WO3 and g-C3N4 was targeted and achieved, to construct a highly efficient direct Z-scheme heterojunction. Optimized binary composite holds the enhanced activity of about 2.6 folds of H2 generation rates than the thermally exfoliated g-C3N4. Further, CNT loading towards binary composite in an optimized weight ratio enhances the activity by 6.86 folds than the pristine g-C3N4. Notably, optimized ternary nanohybrid generates 15,918 µmol h-1. g-1cat of molecular H2, under natural solar light irradiation with 5 vol% TEOA as a sacrificial agent. Constructive enhancements deliver remarkable H2 production and dye degradation activities. Results evident that, the same system can be useful for pilot-scale energy generation and other photocatalytic applications as well.

RESUMO

An attempt is made to understand uranium series disequilibrium in unconformity proximal related uranium mineralisation in Chenchu colony area, Guntur district, Andhra Pradesh, India. The uranium mineralization in Chenchu colony is the western continuity of the Koppunuru uranium deposit and predominantly hosted by gritty quartzite/conglomerate, which occasionally transgresses to underlying basement granite/basic rock. Disequilibrium studies are based on borehole core samples (35 boreholes, No. of samples=634) broadly divided in two groups of cover rocks of Banganapalle formation (above unconformity) and basement granites (below unconformity). Linear regression coefficient between uranium and radium is 0.95, which reflects excellent correlation and significant enrichment of parent uranium. Disequilibrium studies have indicated predominant disequilibrium in favour of parent uranium (35%), which is probably due to the weathering process causing migration of some of the radionuclides while dissolution of minerals due to groundwater action might have also played a significant role. Further, escape of radon might have accentuated the disequilibrium factor resulting in an increase in the grade of the mineralization. This is well corroborated by the presence of fractures and faults in the study area providing channels for radon migration/escape.

RESUMO

A series of novel phosphorylated derivatives of galanthamine 6-11 and 12-17 were synthesized in two step process with high yields. In the first step galanthamine 1 was reacted with bis (2-chloroethyl) phosphoramidic dichloride 2/4-nitrophenyl phosphorodichloridate 3 in presence of triethylamine (TEA) in dry tetrahydrofuran (THF) yielded the intermediates 4/5. They were further reacted with various compounds like 2-aminoethanol, ethyleneglycol, ethylenediamine, 2-aminoethanethiol, 2-hydroxyethanethiol, monopotassium dihydrogenphosphate to obtain the title compounds 6-11 and 12-17. The title compounds showed promising antimicrobial, antioxidant activities and was greatly influenced by the presence of different bioactive groups.

RESUMO

Kawasaki disease also known as mucocutaneous lymph node syndrome is a generalised vasculitis of unknown etiology. Presenting a review of the literature and using our cases for illustration we discuss some of the pertinent features in the evaluation and management of patients with this condition. 2 cases of Kawasaki disease have been evaluated and treated in the department of ENT and Paediatrics who responded satisfactorily to treatment with I.V.Immunoglobulin and Aspirin. The case reports have been presented in view of the rarity of reporting of similar cases in India and the need for early diagnosis and prompt treatment to prevent coronary artery aneurysm and other serious complications.
