RESUMO

The article considers issues of how population behavior impacts realization of state anti-epidemic measures and efforts to control pandemic. Materials and Methods. The methodology of the study is based on such methods as text analysis, elastic network and construction of regression equations. The analysis of indicators characterizing state policy measures controlling pandemic was applied according to data from The Oxford COVID-19 Government Response Tracker portal. The behavioral reactions of population were assessed by text analysis of messages in Twitter and VKontakte social networks using the Rulexicon, tonalities dictionary of Russian language. The analysis of mobility was implemented on basis of data from Google Community Mobility Reports (GCMR). The study base includes data of March 12, 2020 - August 1, 2021. It is established that in controlling pandemic the most effective is to apply combination of measures implemented at state level of the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation that permits to compensate negative effect of quarantine regimen. In the Russian Federation, effect of self-isolation measures, organization of remote work of employees of enterprises, closure of schools, wearing masks is controversial and their incorrect application can contribute to virus propagation. The vaccination measures are also effective in reducing morbidity of disease, but they are characterized by lagging effect. The approval and acceptance by population anti-epidemic measures significantly impact efficiency of pandemic control. The study results can be applied in practice of implementation of anti-epidemic measures as a tool preventing excessive risks of population morbidity and mortality.

RESUMO

AIM: To analyze and demonstrate various phenotypes in patients with familial left ventricular noncompaction (LVNC). MATERIALS AND METHODS: In 2013 was created a multicenter registry of LVNC patients. On its basis 30 families with a familial LVNC were selected. RESULTS: 30 LVNC families were selected from the register. From a total of 115 people (probands and relatives) in 71 (61.7%) LVNC was diagnosed (30 probands and 41 relatives with non-compact myocardial criteria). The most common type of remodeling in patients was the dilated type (DT) (n=30), the isolated LVNC with preserved ejection fraction (EF) was slightly less common (n=23), and the hypertrophic type (GT) was detected in 8 patients. 4 patients were diagnosed with the isolated LVNC with a reduced EF. 3 patients were with a combination of non-compact myocardium with congenital heart disease and with a combination of DT and GT (DT+GT). During the analysis of cases a combination of different phenotypes in the same family was observed. The largest number of families was diagnosed with a combination of DT and the isolated LVNC with preserved EF. The development of cardiovascular complications was associated with DT. CONCLUSION: Family cases of LVNC had different types of myocardial remodeling and variants of clinical course. In one family a combination of different types of left ventricular remodeling is possible. DT is associated with the most severe clinical manifestations. The clinical picture of the isolated LVNC with preserved EF, is the most favorable, but in rare cases, serious clinical manifestations were observed.

RESUMO

In Russia, in recent decades, there were regional gapping in terms of social inequality and high level of morbidity and mortality in comparison with European countries. The high morbidity and mortality of population in the Russian Federation from diseases of circulatory system on one hand, and regional differences in terms of social economic status on the other hand, determined the purpose of the study. In order to evaluate relationship between social economic status of regions of the Russian Federation and incidence rate of myocardial infarction, the analysis was applied to standardized data of adult morbidity in classes of acute myocardial infarction and repeated myocardial infarction. Also was evaluated a number of social economic indices that reflect state and conditions of life of population. The statistical analysis was applied using MS Excel and Statistica 6 software. The critical significance level of null statistical hypothesis was established as p=0.05. When analyzing morbidity of adult population of Russia with acute and repeated myocardial infarction, significant regional differences were established. The seven factors were identified that statistically significantly affect morbidity rate of the adult population with myocardial infarction, which made it possible to divide the regions into four clusters, between which differences in morbidity rate of acute myocardial infarction were revealed. The analysis of morbidity of acute and repeated myocardial infarction established significant regional differences such as in 2017 7.7 times for acute myocardium infarction and 61 times for repeated myocardium infarction. The allocation of regional clusters depending on their social economic status allows to supplement regional and federal projects with risk-oriented technologies with purpose of decreasing morbidity of diseases of circulatory system.

RESUMO

Carnosine (b-alanyl-L-histidine) is an endogenous dipeptide widely distributed in excitable tissues, such as muscle and neural tissues-though in minor concentrations in the latter. Multiple benefits have been attributed to carnosine: direct and indirect antioxidant effect, antiglycating, metal-chelating, chaperone and pH-buffering activity. Thus, carnosine turns out to be a multipotent protector against oxidative damage. However, the role of carnosine in the brain remains unclear. The key aspects concerning carnosine in the brain reviewed are as follows: its concentration and bioavailability, mechanisms of action in neuronal and glial cells, beneficial effects in human studies. Recent literature data and the results of our own research are summarized here. This review covers studies of carnosine effects on both in vitro and in vivo models of cerebral damage, such as neurodegenerative disorders and ischemic injuries and the data on its physiological actions on neuronal signaling and cerebral functions. Besides its antioxidant and homeostatic properties, new potential roles of carnosine in the brain are discussed.

RESUMO

Synthesis of lipoilcarnosine (LipC) - a conjugated molecule based on two natural antioxidants, carnosine and a-lipoic acid, is described. Its physico-chemical, antioxidant properties and biological activity are characterized. According to reversed-phase HPLC with a UV detector, purity of the final product was 89.3%. The individuality of the obtained sodium salt of LipC was confirmed by tandem HPLC-mass spectrometry. High resistance of LipC to hydrolysis with serum carnosinase was demonstrated. The antioxidant activity of LipC measured by reaction with the formation of thiobarbituric acid reacting substances and kinetic parameters of iron-induced chemiluminescence was higher than that of carnosine and lipoic acid. LipC did not affect viability of SH-SY5Y human neuroblastoma culture cells, differentiated towards the dopaminergic type, at concentrations not exceeding 5 mM. At the concentration range of 0.1-0.25 mM LipC protected neuronal cells against 1-methyl-4-phenylpyridinium (MPP + )-induced toxicity.

RESUMO

This paper was designed to report the results of comparative clinical and functional studies involving 89 patients who presented with moderately severe chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and were given the combined treatment with yellow turpentine bathtubs and bronchodilators inhalations with the use of a nebulizer. The patients comprising group 1 (n=29) were treated with yellow turpentine bathtubs and bronchodilators inhalations, those making up group 2 (n=30) received monotherapy with yellow turpentine bathtubs alone, and the patients included in group 3 (n=3) served as controls treated with the use of therapeutic physical exercises and symptomatic medications analogous to those given to the patients of the two former groups. The results of the study give evidence of the advantages of the rehabilitative complex including yellow turpentine bathtubs and atrovent inhalations over two alternative therapeutic modalities attributable to its pronounced anti-inflammatory and immune-corrective activity that resulted in the generalized improvement of bronchial patency, reduction of lung hypertension, and enhancement of physical tolerance; taken together, these effects ensured the best clinical results.

RESUMO

Peptide mixtures with molecular weights of 1000-2000 Da and in vivo membrano-trophic activity against mouse hepatocyte culture at very low concentrations were isolated from dill Anethum graveolens L. leaves. It has been found that plant peptides in aqueous solution formed larger nanosized particles of approximately 90 nm with a secondary structure mainly composed of ß-structures and random coil structures. We demonstrated that peptides isolated from A. graveolens in vitro at an ultra-low dosage affected the size of the area of pigmented cells of amphibian liver, which are analogous to Kupffer cells of the mammalian liver, using roller organotypic newt liver culture models.

RESUMO

Bearing in mind the important role of oxidative stress and intensification of lipid peroxidation processes in the development and progression of obstructive pathology of the respiratory organs, we deemed it appropriate to evaluate the therapeutic effect of general baths containing biolong, an agent showing the antihypoxic and antioxidative properties. The clinical and functional studies that involved 109 patients (52 with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and 57 with bronchial asthma (BA)) have demonstrated the advantages of application of the hydrotherapeutic modality in the patients with bronchial asthma. The therapeutic effect was due to degradation of the allergic inflammation processes, the well apparent decrease in the activity of lipid peroxidation processes, the improvement of humoral immunity, generalized reduction of bronchial obstruction, enhanced physical working capacity, and psychoemotional adaptation.

RESUMO

A bioregulator that has physicochemical and biological properties similar to a group of bioregulators isolated from various animal tissues has been found in the bulb onion (Allium cepa L.). It was determined that the biological action of the plant bioregulator is determined by a peptide with molecular weight of 4036 +/- 2 Da whose 18-C-terminal amino acid sequence consisted of 18 residues. On models of seed germination of some vegetable cultures, the ability of the bioregulator isolated from supernatant of onion extract in ultralow doses (10(-13) mg of protein/ml) to inhibit growth and development was demonstrated.

RESUMO

We performed the matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionisation, time-of-flight mass spectrometry (MALDI-TOF) analysis of the peptides entering into the composition of not yet explored bioregulators derived from the extracellular matrix of the tissues of the various organs of the mammals, and also plants and fungi. The study included 15 different mammalian tissues, 13 species of plants, and 2 species of fungi. Exploring the bioregulators derived from eye tissues, we demonstrated that their composition includes peptide components with the same values of the molecular weight. The composition of the bioregulators derived from the tissues of various organs of mammals or different species of plants and fungi includes the peptides with different values of molecular weight. Obtained data indicate the growing evidence of the assumptions about the major function of the bioregulators of this group--their involvement in the regulation of tissue-organ homeostasis in the biological systems.

RESUMO

Proteins with physicochemical properties and biological activity similar to those of membrano-tropic homeostatic tissue-specific bioregulators that had been found earlier in various animal tissues were discovered in leaves of the common plantain (Plantago major L.). To study the specific activity of these plant proteins, we developed an experimental model for organotypic roller cultivation of newt (Pleurodeles waltl) skin tissue in vitro. We showed that the plant proteins of interest exert the wound-healing effect, which is characteristic of this plant, on the skin of vertebrates both in vitro and in vivo.

RESUMO

Modified maize starches having differences in the number of crosscut lacings in the structure, and in the abilities to be gelatinized in the cold water were used: native maize starch "Novation 4600", acetylated adipat di-starch of the cold swelling "Prejeflo CH 20", acetylated adipat di-starch of the cold swelling "Prejeflo CH 40", acetylated adipat di-starch of the hot swelling "Clearam CH 2020". All investigated starches possessed the ability to activate neutrophils and to increase their phagocytosis 2 h after i.p. administration. Four days after i.p. injection, starches and their hydrolyzet starch products were shown to stimulate the neutrophils and lymphocytes into peritoneal cavity. Starch digest products have the more stimulated capacities compared with native compounds that indicates the possible immune activity of starch carbohydrate chain fragments.

RESUMO

Aim of work was to compare the chemical and biological properties of starches modified by adipinic acid acetylation. Starches in question were: native maize starch "Novation 4600"; acetylated adipat di-starch of the cold swelling "Prejeflo CH 20"; acetylated adipat di-starch of the cold swelling "Prejeflo CH 40"; acetylated adipat di-starch of the hot swelling "Clearam CH 2020". The differences between starches were connected with number of cross-cut lacings in the structure, and with abilities to be gelatinized in the cold water. Rate of hydrolysis and water-retaining capacities were higher for cold swelling starches which contained the smaller number of resistance fractions. Acetyl value of cold swelling starches was higher under elevation of cross-cut lacing.

RESUMO

The population genetic diversity and phylogeny of the bacteria entering the symbiosis with sainfoin that grows on the Chesnokovskaya Mountain, Ufa region, Republic of Bashkortostan, have been studied. RAPD analysis of DNA polymorphism of the microbial strains grown from the nodules of 20 plants using several random primers detected a high degree of genetic homogeneity in their population as compared with the populations of rhizobia of other leguminous plants growing at the same site. Sequencing of 16S rRNA genes of the three most different samples have demonstrated that these genes were identical and display 99.9% homology with the sequence of Phyllobacterium trifolii 16S rRNA gene.

RESUMO

Changes in the structure and cellular composition of aggregated lymphoid nodules (ALN, Peyer's patches) of the small intestine and in mesenterial lymph nodes (MLN) were studied in 82 female Wistar rats 7, 14 and 21 days following a single intraperitoneal injection of a complex of antineoplastic drugs (cyclophosphamide, adriamycine, vincristine and prednisolone). In ALN and MLN lymphoid nodules the administration of antineoplastic drugs resulted in the decrease of the number of blast cells and mitotically dividing cells, suggesting the suppression of B-cell proliferation and differentiation. At the same time, the dimensions of germinal centers in ALN lymphoid nodules were reduced, while their mantle zone size remained unchanged. On the contrary, in MLN lymphoid nodules, mantle zone was reduced, while germinal center dimensions remained constant. Possible reasons of these differences in responses of the immune organs studied to chemotherapy, are discussed.
