[Plastic surgery of the arteries of the lower limbs with autologous vein and its association with lumbar sympathectomy]. / Plastika arterii nizhnikh konechnostei autovenoi i ee sochetanie s poiasnichnoi simpatektomiei.

In surgical treatment of patients with arterial occulsion of the lower limbs an autovein was employed as a transplant in 66 patients. In 22 patients reconstructive operation was performed after preliminary lumbar sympathectomy. Restored patency of the operated segment with restoration of foot artery pulsation was noted in 53 patients. Late results were followed up for 1--6 years in 32 patients. Major blood flow was maintained in 24 patients (75%). Other conditions being equal, reconstructive operations yield better results, if lumbar sympathectomy was preliminary performed.

[Experience in using hexosephosphate in the surgical clinic]. / Opyt primeneniia geksozofosfata v khirurgicheskoi klinike

The authors' experience with the clinical use of an antihypoxic substnace--hexosophosphate representing the complex of tetraphosphoric glucose and fructose esters is reported. The substance was studied experimentally on 20 dogs and clinically in 126 patients with diseases of vessels, abdominal organs and the kidneys. A positive effect was gained in peroral and intravenous use of the substance both with theaim of preparative management of patients to be subjected to major surgery and postoperatively. HP, being a readily absorbed energetic substance, renders a normalizing effect on the hemodynamics, the bowel activity, improves general patients'state, that is of special value in patients whose state is aggravated by concomitant lesions.

[Functional morphology of gastric mucosa in the syndrome of celiac artery stenosis before and after decompression]. / Funktsional'naia morfologiia slizistoi obolochki zheludka pri sindrome stenoza chrevnoi arterii do i posle dekompressii

Under study were morphological changes in the gastric mucosa in 40 patients with the syndrome of abdominal ischemia due to a varying degree of stenosis of the celiac artery, and in 8 patients without any changes in the celiac artery. In 10 cases the mucous membrane was studied histoenzymologically. In a marked stenosis of the celiac artery there was observed an atrophy of the mucosa and decreased general activity of succinate-, lactate, and NAD-N-dehydrogenases on account of a decreased number of cells, in which these enzymes are revealed. In early stages of the disease restoration of blood flow would result in normalization of the mucous membrane structure.

[Ways of mortality reduction after operations on the extrahepatic bile ducts]. / Puti snizheniia letal'nosti pri operatsiiakh na vnepechenochnykh zhelchnykh protokakh

Based on the analysis of the immediate results of 231 operations on extrahepatic bile ducts, 174 primary interventions and 57 reoperations, it is concluded that the operation at the height of the attack of acute cholecystitis or in total obturation of bile passages yields considerable mortality (1/3 and 1/5 of observations, accordingly). The best results of surgery were obtained in attenuation of acute inflammatory phenomena in the gallbladder under conditions of liquidation of obturation of extrahepatic bile ducts (1/7 of observations). However, bile peritonitis and progression of destructive acute cholecystitis would necessitate an urgent operation. According to the authors' data well-grounded indications to surgery, a selection of optimum terms and extent of its accomplishment could contribute to favourable immediate results of surgical therapy for diseases of extrahepatic ducts.
