Surprising discovery of an enigmatic geometrid in Croatia: Mirlatiaarcuata, gen. nov., sp. nov. (Lepidoptera, Geometridae).

A new monotypic genus of Geometridae, Mirlatiagen. nov., and a new species, M.arcuatasp. nov., are described from Croatia. Based on external and genitalia characters, the new genus is tentatively placed in the subfamily Larentiinae. However, the new genus takes a highly isolated position by having unique characters of the tympanum and showing an unusually long pectination of female antennae. Genetic analysis of a fragmented DNA barcode (mtDNA; cytochrome c oxidase 1) did not result in a clear assignation to any geometrid subfamily or tribe. Adults, male and female genitalia, and habitat photos of the type locality of the new species are illustrated.

Five new species of the genus Meganaclia Aurivillius, 1892 (Lepidoptera: Erebidae: Arctiinae: Syntomini).

The Afrotropical genus Meganaclia Aurivillius, 1892 is revised, five new species M. smithi sp. n., M. grehani sp. n., M. josephi sp. n., M. johannae sp. n. and M. gaerberfesti sp. n. are described with a key for identification of species based on male genitalia structures. Habitus and genitalia of all taxa are illustrated and a distribution map is provided.

Integrative taxonomic revision of the African taxa of the Racotis Moore, 1887 generic complex (Lepidoptera, Geometridae, Ennominae, Boarmiini).

The Afrotropical taxa of the Racotis s.l. generic complex are revised utilising integrative taxonomical methods. Based on the evaluation of genital morphology and analyses of DNA barcodes, a new genus, Afroracotis gen. n. is established to include the Afrotropical "Racotis" species. The new genus is subdivided into 5 subgenera: Afroracotis subgen. n., Herbuloracotis subgen. n., Rwandaracotis subgen. n., Zebracotis subgen. n. and Sokokeracotis subgen. n.. A new monotypic genus is described to include Boarmia ugandaria Swinhoe, 1904 which was combined earlier with the genus Chorodna and recently with Racotis: Chorocotis gen. n.. Two species formerly assigned to Cleora are moved to Afroracotis: A. albitrigonis (Prout, 1927) comb. n., A. atriclava (Prout, 1926) comb. n.. Two species are transferred from Racotis to Colocleora: C. breijeri (Prout, 1922) comb. n., C. incauta (Prout, 1916) comb. n.. Seventeen new Afroracotis species (A. aliena, A. stadiei, A. violetteae, A. fiebigi, A. turlini, A. dargei, A. longicornuta, A. aristophanousi, A. muscivirens, A. chaineyi, A. lydiae, A. smithi, A. ochsei, A. milesi, A. helicalis, A. takanoi and A. staudei spp. n.) and 5 new subspecies (A. squalida thomensis, A. argillacea morettoi, A. longicornuta congolana, A. longicornuta ugandana and A. lydiae orientalis sspp. n.) are described, totalling 27 species and 8 subspecies contained in the genus Afroracotis. Adults and genitalia of all taxa are illustrated in 210 colour and 129 black and white figures demonstrating the intraspecific variability. The distribution of all taxa is illustrated in 6 dot maps. The results of the genetic analyses are figured in four phylograms.

Two new Nolini (Lepidoptera: Nolidae: Nolinae) from Nouabalé-Ndoki National Park, Republic of Congo.

A new species of Bellanola László, 2022 (B. ndoki László, sp. n.) and a new species of Meganola Dyar, 1898 (M. faber László, sp. n.) are described and figured from the Nouabalé-Ndoki National Park, Republic of Congo. The former new species is the second known taxon of the recently described genus Bellanola, whilst the latter is attributed to the Meganola chionea (Hampson, 1911) species-group. The paper is illustrated with habitat photographs and eight colour and eight black and white images of diagnostic features.

A contribution to the knowledge of the prominent moths (Lepidoptera, Noctuoidea, Notodontidae) of the Maputo Special Reserve with descriptions of four new species.

This paper provides the first comprehensive summary of the Notodontidae fauna of the Maputo Special Reserve in southern Mozambique listing 51 species. Four species are described as new to science (Thacona smithi László Schintlmeister sp. n., Arciera meridiana László Schintlmeister sp. n., Leptolepida krugeri László Schintlmeister sp. n., Thaumetopoea latinivea László Schintlmeister sp. n.) and 23 species are recorded as new country records. Several taxonomic changes are made: the genus Arciera Kiriakoff, 1962 is reinstated and a lectotype is designated for Turnaca grisea Holland, 1893; Thacona pinheyi is transferred to the genus Subscrancia Gaede, 1928 (Subscrancia pinheyi (Kiriakoff, 1965) comb. nov.); and Hoplitis gigas Distant, 1899 is reinstated from synonymy to species rank (Amyops gigas (Distant, 1899) stat. rev.). 106 colour and 40 black and white diagnostic figures are provided including the hitherto unknown females of Archistilbia mlawula Schintlmeister Witt, 2015 and Eurystauridia iphis Kiriakoff, 1968.

Notes on some Tanzanian butterfly specimens in the Suffert Collection: a case of patria/ falsa/.

A number of mislabelled butterfly specimens in the Suffert collection purporting to be from Lindi in southeast Tanzania belong to taxa restricted to the Usambara Mountains in northeast Tanzania thus suggesting patria falsa. The history of Suffert's collection and the possible reasons behind this mislabelling event are discussed in more detail. One of the mislabelled specimens, the holotype of Papilio illyris hamatus Joicey Talbot, 1918 described from Tanzania, is the senior name for Graphium illyris girardeaui Guilbot Plantrou, 1978, the latter name formally synonymised herein with the former. A brief biography of the little-known Ernst Suffert is presented.

Review of the Cyana rejecta (Walker, 1854) species-group, with descriptions of three new species from mainland Africa and a new subspecies from Madagascar (Lepidoptera, Erebidae, Arctiinae, Lithosiini).

The present paper provides an overview of the Cyana rejecta (Walker, 1854) species-group. Three new species (C. yao sp. n., C. occidentalis sp. n. and C. cornutissima sp. n.) and a new subspecies (C. rejecta viettei ssp. n.) are described. Adults, male and female genitalia of all taxa of the species-group are illustrated.

Review of the genus Meganola Dyar, 1898 of Ivory Coast and adjacent areas with descriptions of 5 new species and several taxonomic updates (Lepidoptera, Nolidae, Nolinae)-Taxonomic studies on West African Nolinae I.

The present paper contains the first comprehensive taxonomic summary of the Meganola Dyar, 1898 species recorded in Ivory Coast and adjacent areas. 35 species are recorded in total with 28 species having been collected on recent African Natural History Research Trust expeditions. All species are listed with label data of specimens examined together with 56 colour and 52 black and white illustrations of the adults and their genitalia. A Lectotype is designated for Meganola furvitincta (Hampson, 1914), five species are described as new to science (Meganola smithi, M. taiana, M. subchionea, M. cinereoparva, M. hackeri spp. n.) and 23 new synonymies are established: Meganola endoscota undosaria Hacker, 2012 syn. n., M. kaduna Hacker, 2012 syn. n., M. mabiriaria Hacker, 2012 syn. n. and M. simplicifacta Hacker, 2012 syn. n. are synonymised with M. endoscota (Hampson, 1914); M. polioleuca Hacker, 2012 syn. n. is synonymised with M. mesonephele (Hampson, 1914); M. togatulella Hacker, 2012 syn. n., M. subterminalis Hacker, 2012 syn. n. and M. lupii Hacker Hausmann, 2012 syn. n. are synonymised with M. lucia (van Son, 1933); M. septima Hacker, 2012 syn. n., M. octava Hacker, 2012 syn. n., M. heteromorpha Hacker, 2012 syn. n., M. dissoluta Hacker, 2012 syn. n., M. brachyvalva Hacker, 2012 syn. n. and M. pseudofuscata Hacker, 2012 syn. n. are synonymised with M. monofascia (van Son, 1933); M. mbala Hacker, 2014 syn. n. and M. poliographa Hacker, 2012 syn. n. are synonymised with M. furvitincta (Hampson, 1914); M. obscuritata Hacker, 2012 syn. n. is synonymised with M. spermophaga (Fletcher, 1962); M. tabbertiella Hacker Hoppe, 2012 syn. n., M. amaniella Hacker, 2012 syn. n. and M. fuscostriata Hacker, 2012 syn. n. are synonymised with M. pyrrhomorpha Hacker, 2012; M. longisigna Hacker, 2012 syn. n. and M. politzari Hacker, 2012 syn. n. are synonymised with M. foviferoides (Poole, 1989); Meganola eburneana Hacker, 2012 syn. n. is synonymised with M. illaudata (Fletcher, 1958). The hitherto unknown males of Meganola dananae Hacker, 2012, M. rhyssomorpha Hacker, 2012 and M. mesothermoides (Poole, 1989) as well as females of M. microfascia Hacker, 2012 and M. palaeographa Hacker, 2012 are illustrated for the first time and several new distribution records are provided.

First record of the genus Porcellanola László, Ronkay amp; Witt, 2006 (Lepidoptera, Nolidae, Nolinae) from India with description of a new species.

Genus Porcellanola is reported for the first time from India with description of a new species, Porcellanola sikkima Joshi, Singh László sp. nov., (Sikkim) along with the morphotaxonomy of two more species, P. sukhothai László, Ronkay Witt, 2006 and P. langtangi László, Ronkay Witt, 2006. In addition, first description of the female genitalia of P. sukhothai is provided.

Contribution to the knowledge of the Nolini of the Maputo Special Reserve in South Mozambique with description of two new species and several taxonomic updates (Lepidoptera, Nolidae, Nolinae).

Present paper contains the first comprehensive summary of the Nolini species of the Maputo Special Reserve collected between November 2016 and February 2018. The Nolini fauna counts 21 species in total, 17 species are proved to be new for the fauna of Mozambique, two species are new to science and described here as Mecothrix maputuana sp. n. and Meganola shangaana sp. n. The subgenus Mecothrix Hacker, 2012 is upgraded to genus rank. Mecothrix cana Hacker, 2012 and Nola submelanoscelis Hacker, 2012 are downgraded to subspecies rank (Mecothrix aegyptiaca cana Hacker, 2012 stat. n., Nola biangulata submelanoscelis Hacker, 2012 stat. n.). Meganola meridianissima Hacker, 2012 syn. n. and Meganola kakamega Hacker, 2012 syn. n. are synonymized with Meganola bispermutata Hacker, 2012, in addition Nolidia nanoxantha Hacker, 2012 syn. n. and Nolidia polionana Hacker, 2012 syn. n. are synonymised with Nolidia elachistomorpha Hacker, 2012. Nolidia elachistomorpha is transferred to the genus Hampsonola László, Ronkay Ronkay, 2015 (Hampsonola elachistomorpha (Hacker, 2012) comb. n.). With 43 colour and 40 black and white figures.

Amerila (Lepidoptera: Erebidae: Arctiinae) of Cameroon with morphological remarks on male and female genitalia.

Amerila is one of the most studied Afrotropical genera of Arctiinae. However, based on a regionally constrained sample of specimens from Mount Cameroon, we show how superficial our knowledge on these tiger moths is. Among six collected Amerila species, A. femina's female is described here for the first time, and A. mulleri and A. roseomarginata had never been recorded before in the country. Moreover, novel biological data are presented, including individual species' elevational ranges. Finally, female reproductive organs of the genus are illustrated here for the first time. The value of such regional studies is highlighted, with some remarks on necessary requirements of such small-scaled field sampling.

Four new species of the genus Tumicla Wallengren, 1863 (Lepidoptera: Erebidae: Arctiinae: Lithosiini).

The present paper contains descriptions of four new species of the genus Tumicla Wallengren, 1863: T. elephantina sp. nov. (South Mozambique), T. mbeghai sp. nov. (NE Tanzania), T. admiranda sp. nov. (SE Democratic Republic of the Congo) and T. smithi sp. nov. (Central Zambia). The male paratype specimen of T. doa Kühne 2007 is proved to be not conspecific with the holotype female but belongs to an undescribed species described here as T. mbeghai sp. nov. rendering Tumicla doa to be known by the female holotype only. Adults, male and female genitalia of the new and related species are illustrated.

On the taxonomy of the subgenera Cyabarda Karisch, 2013, Idiovulpecula Karisch, 2013 and Paravulpeculella Karisch, 2013 of the genus Cyana Walker, 1854, with descriptions of three new species from africa (Lepidoptera, Erebidae, Arctiinae, Lithosiini).

The identification of the male of Cyana (Cyabarda) torrida (Holland, 1893) is corrected, the male is illustrated for the first time. Cyana suessmuthi Karisch, 2013 is transferred to the subgenus Cyabarda Karisch, 2013, its female adult and female genitalia are illustrated and diagnosed for the first time. A new species Cyana (Cyabarda) nambi sp. nov. similar to C. torrida is described from Uganda. Cyana torrida maculata Karisch, 2013 is upgraded to species rank and transferred to the subgenus Idiovulpecula Karisch, 2013: C. (Idiovulpecula) maculata Karisch, 2013, stat. nov. Two new species of the subgenus Idiovulpecula are described: C. (Idiovulpecula) lowa sp. nov. (Democratic Republic of the Congo) and C. (Idiovulpecula) foya sp. nov. (Liberia). Adults and genitalia of new and related species are illustrated.

On the taxonomic position of 'Siccia' yvonneae Kühne, 2007 (Lepidoptera: Nolidae: Nolinae).

Siccia yvonneae Kühne, 2007 described as member of Lithosiini (Erebidae, Arctiinae) is transferred in the present paper to the genus Meganola Dyar, 1898 of Nolini (Nolidae, Nolinae): Meganola yvonneae (Kühne, 2007), comb. nov. Meganola yvonneae is compared to M. conspicua Dyar, 1898 type species of the genus, to M. albula ([Denis Schiffermüller], 1775) a widespread Palaearctic species and to Manoba lithosiformis László, Ronkay Ronkay, 2014 described from the Philippines as an example of a Nolinae reminding of the general habitus of Siccia from SE Asia. The adult and genitalia of the Lithosiini Siccia caffra Walker, 1854 are also figured for comparative purposes.

A review of the genus Afrasura Durante, 2009 from São Tomé Island with descriptions of a new species and a new subspecies (Lepidoptera: Erebidae: Arctiinae).

Present paper contains a review of the lithosiine genus Afrasura Durante, 2009 from São Tomé Island (Democratic Republic of São Tomé and Príncipe). One new species, A. pectinatissima Volynkin László, sp. nov. and one new subspecies, A. discocellularis saotomensis Volynkin László, ssp. nov. are described. Asura thomensis Rothschild, 1913 is synonymized with Afrasura hieroglyphica (Bethune-Baker, 1911) widely distributed in West Africa. A new combination is established: Afrasura friederikae (Kühne, 2007), comb. nov. Adults, male and female genitalia of all species mentioned are illustrated.

On the taxonomy of the genus Tumicla Wallengren, 1863 with description of two new species from Mozambique (Lepidoptera: Erebidae: Arctiinae).

The paper presents an overview of the Afrotropical genus Tumicla Wallengren, 1863 and the updated checklist of all currently known species of this genus belonging to the tribe Lithosiini. We propose 18 new combinations: Tumicla atricraspeda (Hampson, 1914), comb. nov., T. calimerae (Durante, 2008), comb. nov., T. congoensis (Kühne, 2007), comb. nov., T. dimidiata (Durante, 2008), comb. nov., T. distyi (Kühne, 2007), comb. nov., T. doa (Kühne, 2007), comb. nov., T. eala (Kühne, 2007), comb. nov., T. fasciata (Durante, 2008), comb. nov., T. gigantea (Kühne, 2007), comb. nov., T. hermanni (Kühne, 2007), comb. nov., T. mutabilis (Kühne, 2007), comb. nov., T. retromaculata (Durante, 2008), comb. nov., T. rosea (Durante, 2008), comb. nov., T. rubea (Durante, 2008), comb. nov., T. russula (Kiriakoff, 1963), comb. nov., T. similis (Durante, 2008), comb. nov., T. spinata (Kühne, 2007), comb. nov., and T. versicolor (Kühne, 2007), comb. nov. Two new species of Tumicla, T. tsonga sp. nov. and T. arktos sp. nov. are described from southern Mozambique.

Contribution to the knowledge on the Palaearctic and Oriental taxa of the Meganola s.l. (Lepidoptera, Noctuoidea, Nolidae, Nolinae) generic complex with descriptions of 4 new genera and 11 new species.

Present paper contains the descriptions of four new genera distinguished from the collecting genus Meganola s.l. (Hampsonola, Wittonola, Fragilonola and Maculonola gen. n.) and 11 new species (Meganola pseudobasalactifera, Hampsonola diehli, H. subbasirufa, H. angustifasciata, H. stueningi, H. micra, Wittonola latifasciata, Nanola rothschildi, Fragilonola fragilis, F. parentela and Maculonola dolokmerangirensis spp. n.) from South East Asia. Based on genital morphology the concept of the genus Nanola is extended, involving several species treated earlier as Meganola. Meganola yakovlevi László, Ronkay & Ronkay, 2010 is synonymised with M. tetrodon (de Joannis, 1928), and M. pekarskyi László, Ronkay & Ronkay, 2014 is synonymised with Nanola liaoningensis (Han & Li, 2008), syn. n. 45 new combinations and 2 new stati are established. With 48 colour photos and 42 genitalia figures.

On the taxonomy of the genera Proneca Swinhoe, 1890, Ctenane Swinhoe, 1905 and Selca Walker, 1866 (Lepidoptera, Nolidae, Nolinae), with the description of two new species from Sumatra.

Present paper contains the characterisation of the genera Proneca Swinhoe, 1890, Ctenane Swinhoe, 1905, and Selca Walker, 1866, and their species, with the description of two new species, Proneca brunneostriata sp. n. and Ctenane         michaeli sp. n., from Sumatra. Two new combinations and a new synonymy are established. With 32 colour photos and 24 genitalia figures.

Mohacolora gen. n., a new genus of Ennominae (Lepidoptera, Geometridae) from South-East Asia, with description of a new species.

The present paper contains the description of the new ennomine genus Mohacolora (Geometridae, Ennominae) and its type species M. bezverkhovi sp. n. (Vietnam, Myanmar, Bhutan and Nepal). A detailed description of the external morphological and genital characters of Mohacolora is given and the new genus is compared to the related genera Doratoptera Hampson and Descoreba Butler. Six colour photos of adult moths and 5 genitalia figures are provided. 

Five new species of the genus Meganola Dyar, 1898 (Lepidoptera: Nolidae: Nolinae) from China.

Five new species of the genus Meganola Dyar, 1898 (M. subascripta, M. nanlinga, M. cenwanga, M. wilbarka and M. daminga spp. n.) are described from China and the adjacent regions, including figures of the adults and genitalia.
