RESUMO

40 cycles of 35 patients, 38 of which were stimulated with clomiphen, were monitored with the LH-Colortest. This urine test, which was applied by the patients themselves twice daily, detected the LH peak in 33 out of 34 cycles with proven ovulation. In 24 cycles, the LH peak was registered in urine already fourteen hours before it showed in the daily serum controls. The urine LH peak (the test becomes positive at an LH concentration of at least 50 IU/ml) was observed on cycle day 13.6. on average while the corresponding LH peak in serum occurred on cycle day 14.2 on average. The sensitivity of the LH-Colortest was 97.2% and its specificity was 100%.

RESUMO

The LH color test was used to monitor 40 cycles of 32 patients. The urine test, which becomes positive at a LH-concentration of at least 50 I. U./ml, indicated the LH-peak in 34 out of 35 cycles with ascertained ovulation. In 24 cycles, the urine LH-peak preceded the serum LH-peak by one day. The urine LH-peak was found on cycle day 13.6 on average. The serum LH-peak on day 14.2 on average. The sensitivity of the LH color test was 97.2%, its specificity 100%.

RESUMO

The mouse oocyte was used to determine whether T-mycoplasma or Escherichia coli affects the fertilization and embryonal development of oocytes. Ureaplasma urealyticum (T-mycoplasma) in the mouse oocyte system had little influence on the fertilization rates achieved in vitro; however, in all the experiments there was a marked reduction of embryonal development after in vitro fertilization (IVF) of spermatozoa infected with Ureaplasma. Even in oocytes incubated with Ureaplasma only after having reached the two-cell stage, there was reduced development into blastocysts. Changes in the Ureaplasma concentration and incubation time had no major influence on the development into blastocysts. During IVF of mouse oocytes with spermatozoa infected with E. coli concentrations of 10(3)/mL, there were no changes in the fertilization or culture rate as compared to the control group. However, after insemination with 10(6) bacteria/milliliter there was no change in the IVF rates in the mouse oocyte; however, the culture rates were considerably reduced (19.5% as compared to 64.4% in the control group). Whether there are additional changes in the pregnancy rate after the transfer of blastocysts obtained after insemination of oocytes with infected spermatozoa remains a matter for future investigation.

RESUMO

By means of a recently developed electronical optical esthesiometer the efficacy of five different topical anaesthetics was compared. The influence of vehicle and concentration was also investigated. From the results it can be concluded that the drugs currently available are of suitable local anaesthetic effect with little influence of the vehicle or preservative agent used.

RESUMO

By means of a new electronic-optical instrument corneal sensitivity after application of topical anaesthesia was examined. In a prospective study different preparations were compared, also the influence of concentration dosage and milieu were studied.
