RESUMO
Clinico-anatomical analysis is presented of 93 autopsies of pregnant women, women in childbirth and puerperas who died in 1985-1999 in the Arkhangelsk region. In this region complications after abortion occur less frequently than in Russia on the whole while the percentage of late gestosis, obstetric hemorrhage and pyoseptic complications were high than mean Russian. In small number of discrepancies between final clinical and anatomo-pathological diagnosis, high percentage of discrepancies was found in the diagnosis of the 3rd category and iatrogenia this being due to difficulties in clinical diagnosis of obstetic pathology and increasing incidence of surgical deliveries.

The response of hematological system, carbohydrate metabolism and pathomorphologic alterations in the viscera were studied for four weeks on the model of chronic alcoholization in conditions of hydrolytic alcohol production. It is shown that maximal deviations of all the parameters in white conventional rats occur after receiving a combined ethanol dose in inhalation of a mixture of methanol and furfurol vapour. Less manifest pathology was revealed in simultaneous introduction of nootropil solution. Thus, functional-morphologic changes in alcoholic intoxication in unfavourable environment are reversible in purposeful application of drugs with neurometabolic effect.

Thirteen patients aged 20-60 years (9 men and 4 women) with keratocysts of the jaws were observed. Clinical, x-ray, and microscopic picture of the disease is described. Keratocysts were removed and the resultant cavity scraped in 10 patients; in 3 the mandible was resected because of the process dissemination and vegetation of the periosteum and muscles. The diagnosis was confirmed morphologically. Enucleation with scraping is recommended in keratocysts; in extensive lesions with vegetation of tissues adjacent to the bone, the jaw is to be resected.

A case of the disease in a 6-year-old boy is described. The disease was characterized by a long recurrent course with development of a parasitic gumma in the mediastinum and arrosion of the descending aorta and the left bronchial wall. Pulmonary bleeding was a course of death. Differential diagnosis between toxocariasis and askaridosis is given.

Under consideration were some aspects of the diagnostic value of urgent biopsy, based on the vast materials submitted by a pathoanatomical department of the Provincial Hospital and Oncological Dispensary for a 5-year period (1974--1978). Gross errors in the urgent diagnosis were found to be in 3.24% (216 biopsies) and in 1.41% (931 biopsies) as compared with the results obtained after the routine investigation as well as the examination mostly of the whole operation material, obtained later. The errors may be due to underestimation of some findings and overestimation of the others, an inadequately selected site for investigation as well as some objective factors, related to limitations of the urgent biopsy technic and emergency of its use.

Five observations of hepatoblastoma in boys of 10 months to 4 years of age are presented. Tumor mass in the right part of the abdominal cavity was detected 1--9 months before death. Three patients died of pulmonary cardiac insufficiency, 2 of cateterization sepsis and hepatic insufficiency. The liver weight varied from 840 to 3500 g. Two children had intrahepatic metastases, one of them also had extrahepatic metastases into the portal lymph nodes and lungs. In 2 observations hepatoblastoma was of an epithelial structure, in 3 cases of a mixed type. It is suggested that hepatoblastoma, as well as liver carcinoma in adults, occurs more frequently in males.
