RESUMO

Two new anthraquinone derivatives sapranquinones A and B (1 and 2) together with two known biogenetically related anthraquinone derivatives (3 and 4) were isolated from the stems of Saprosma crassipes H. S. Lo. The structures of these compounds were elucidated using comprehensive spectroscopic methods. Compounds 1-4 were evaluated for their antibacterial activities and compounds 1 and 3 had a broad spectrum antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus albus, Escherichia coli, Bacillus cereus, Micrococcus tetragenus, and Micrococcus luteus with MIC values ranging from 1.25 to 5 µg/mL.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: This study assessed the effectiveness of Yangxin Decoction (YXD) in the treatment of coronary heart disease (CHD) patients with angina pectoris (AP). METHODS: In this study, we systematically and comprehensively searched the PUBMED, EMBASE, Cochrane Library, CNKI, WANGFANG, and VIP databases from their establishment to June 1, 2022. Clinical randomized controlled trials of YXD for the management of AP in patients with CHD were considered for inclusion. The outcomes included the response rate of AP, response rate based on electrocardiogram, and the rate of nitroglycerin use. Two authors independently performed literature selection, data extraction, and methodological quality assessment. Any differences were resolved by a third author through a discussion. RESULTS: Nine trials involving 819 patients were included. The meta-analysis results showed that YXD significantly improved the response rate of AP (OR = 2.98, 95% CI: 1.96-4.55, I2 = 0%, P < .01) and the response rate based on the electrocardiogram (OR = 1.88, 95% CI: 1.28-2.78, I2 = 26%, P < .01), and significantly reduced the rate of nitroglycerin use (OR = 2.04, 95% CI: 1.19-3.52, I2 = 0%, P = .01). CONCLUSIONS: The results of this study showed that YXD was effective in the treatment of patients with AP of CHD. Further studies are required to confirm these results.

RESUMO

Acquisition of stable nitritation and efficient anammox play a crucial role in partial nitritation (PN) combined with anammox for nitrogen removal from ammonium-rich wastewater. Due to the limitation of ammonia-oxidizing bacteria (AOB) enrichment and nitrite-oxidizing bacteria (NOB) control in traditional membrane biological reactor (MBR), it can result in a lower nitrite production rate (NPR) and unstable PN, eventually reducing the nitrogen removal rate (NRR) via PN-anammox. In this study, we developed a zeolite membrane biological reactor (ZMBR) to enhance the PN of iron oxide red wastewater (IORW), in which the biofilm derived from the zeolite surface can provide free ammonia (FA)-containing microenvironment for AOB enrichment and NOB inhibition. The results showed that ZMBR can tolerate a higher influent nitrogen loading rate (NLR) of 2.78 kg/(m3⋅day) in comparison to the traditional MBR [2.02 kg/(m3⋅day)] and the NPR in ZMBR and traditional MBR were 1.39 and 0.96 kg/(m3⋅day), respectively. The mass concentration ratio of NO 2 - -N/ NH 4 + -N ranged from 1.05 to 1.33 in ZMBR, suggesting a suitable condition for nitrogen removal via anammox. Subsequently, the domesticated granular sludge obtained from a paper-making wastewater treatment was used as the carrier of anammox bacteria to remove nitrogen. After 93 days of operation, the NRR was observed to be 2.33 kg/(m3⋅day) and high-throughput sequencing indicated that the relatively higher abundance (45.0%) of Candidatus Kuenenia stuttgartiensis was detected in the granular sludge of the bottom part of the reactor, which can produce more proteins and lipids, suggesting a good settleability. Overall, this study provides a high-efficient method to control PN and domesticate anammox for nitrogen removal from IORW.

RESUMO

In recent years, improving the performance of catalysts through defect modulation has attracted extensive attention. However, the impact of defect rearrangement on Fenton-like photocatalytic reactions has not been studied. In this study, Fe-containing polyoxometalate molecules were grafted onto the surface of defective TiO2.The influence of oxygen vacancy formation and the defect arrangement process on the catalytic activity was investigated. The results indicated that the calcination of cyanamide modified defective TiO2 is beneficial for the spatial reconstruction of oxygen vacancies generated by H2 atmosphere treatment. With rearranged structural defects, photo-generated electrons were prone to transfer from the surface of P25 to Fe-POM nanoparticles. Due to the enhanced charge separation in TiO2 and the increased reactive sites on the Fenton-like reagent, Fenton-like photocatalysts with rearranged defects showed a 13-fold increase in catalytic activity during the degradation of dye molecules.

RESUMO

AIM: To evaluate the biomechanical stability of the corneal scar treating with riboflavin and ultraviolet A (UVA). METHODS: Totally 86 New Zeal rabbits were divided into control group (group A, n=8) and trauma groups [group B (n=27), group C (n=24) and group D (n=27)]. Then groups B, C and D were divided into three sub-groups according to the time points of sacrifice, i.e. groups Ba, Ca and Da (4wk, n=8); Bb, Cb and Db (6wk, n=8); Bc (n=11), Cc (n=8) and Dc (8wk, n=11). The right corneas of these 78 rabbits in the trauma groups were penetrated. Group B were only sutured. Group C were treated with corneal cross-linking (CXL) immediately after suturing. Group D were treated with CXL seven days after suturing. The corneal scar strips of 4.0×10.0 mm2 were cut and the stress and Young's modulus at 10% strain were evaluated. Samples from the three rabbits of group Bc and three of group Dc were used to measure the expression of alpha smooth muscle action (α-SMA). RESULTS: The mechanical strength of the corneal scar increased with time, and was strongest at 8wk after the injury. The ultimate stress of corneal scar (group D) were 2.17±0.52 MPa, 2.92±0.63 MPa, and 4.21±0.68 Mpa at 4wk, 6wk and 8wk, respectively; Young's modulus were 10.94±1.57 MPa, 11.16±2.50 MPa, and 13.36±2.10 Mpa, which were higher than that of other groups except for normal control. The expression of α-SMA in group B and group D were 0.28±0.11 and 0.65±0.20, respectively, and the difference was statistically significant (P=0.048). CONCLUSION: CXL with riboflavin/UVA at seven days after suturing improved the biomechanical properties of corneal scars most effectively in the present study.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To report on 4-year follow-up of corneal higher-order aberrations and daily visual functions of myopic patients after laser in situ keratomileusis (LASIK). METHODS: One hundred thirty four eyes of 67 patients who underwent LASIK guided by aspherical ablation were included in this study. The vision, corneal spherical aberration (SphA) and Coma were recorded before LASIK and at 6 month and 4 year after LASIK. The evaluation of the questionnaire about daily visual functions was performed by the same physician after LASIK. RESULTS: No eye decreased the BCVA during 4 year follow-up. The effect index and safety index were 1.08±0.16, 1.11±0.17 and 1.12±0.16, 1.13±0.14 respectively at 6 month and 4 year post-LASIK. After LASIK the corneal SphA and Coma were significantly increased, however the difference between 6 month and 4 year post-LASIK was no statistical significance. Most patients (94.3%-92.4%) felt satisfaction or high satisfaction about the ability to perform each daily visual function after LASIK. Meanwhile there was still about 7.4%-9.2% patients who complained that they could not drive at night. Further analysis showed that the score of driving at night was negative correlation with corneal SphA (r=-0.645, p=0.040; r=-0.688, p=0.040 at 6 month and 4 year post-LASIK respectively). CONCLUSIONS: Our four-year follow-up outcomes indicated that the myopic patients after LASIK had the long-term stable corneal aberration and satisfaction of daily visual functions.
