OBJECTIVE: To comprehensively assess the impact of aging, cigarette smoking, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) on pulmonary physiology using 129Xe MR. METHODS: A total of 90 subjects were categorized into four groups, including healthy young (HY, n = 20), age-matched control (AMC, n = 20), asymptomatic smokers (AS, n = 28), and COPD patients (n = 22). 129Xe MR was utilized to obtain pulmonary physiological parameters, including ventilation defect percent (VDP), alveolar sleeve depth (h), apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC), total septal wall thickness (d), and ratio of xenon signal from red blood cells and interstitial tissue/plasma (RBC/TP). RESULTS: Significant differences were found in the measured VDP (p = 0.035), h (p = 0.003), and RBC/TP (p = 0.003) between the HY and AMC groups. Compared with the AMC group, higher VDP (p = 0.020) and d (p = 0.048) were found in the AS group; higher VDP (p < 0.001), d (p < 0.001) and ADC (p < 0.001), and lower h (p < 0.001) and RBC/TP (p < 0.001) were found in the COPD group. Moreover, significant differences were also found in the measured VDP (p < 0.001), h (p < 0.001), ADC (p < 0.001), d (p = 0.008), and RBC/TP (p = 0.032) between the AS and COPD groups. CONCLUSION: Our findings indicate that pulmonary structure and functional changes caused by aging, cigarette smoking, and COPD are various, and show a progressive deterioration with the accumulation of these risk factors, including cigarette smoking and COPD. CLINICAL RELEVANCE STATEMENT: Pathophysiological changes can be difficult to comprehensively understand due to limitations in common techniques and multifactorial etiologies. 129Xe MRI can demonstrate structural and functional changes caused by several common factors and can be used to better understand patients' underlying pathology. KEY POINTS: Standard techniques for assessing pathophysiological lung function changes, spirometry, and chest CT come with limitations. 129Xe MR demonstrated progressive deterioration with accumulation of the investigated risk factors, without these limitations. 129Xe MR can assess lung changes related to these risk factors to stage and evaluate the etiology of the disease.

Urban ecological spaces are effective thermoregulators under global warming. However, the cooling efficiency of urban ecological spaces during the urbanization has not been studied comprehensively. Here, we investigate the spatio-temporal dynamics of Urban Cold Island (UCI) intensity in 11 typical cities of the Yangtze River Economic Belt (YREB). We determined the impact of ecological landscape trends on these dynamics by using GlobalLand and MODIS 8 d mean land surface temperature (LST) data for three periods (2000, 2010, and 2020), and the landscape pattern index and diversity index. We found that in the past 20 years, the built-up area has increased by sixfold; 62.53 % and 37.47 % of YREB were warming or cooling, with 71.22 % of the daytime cooling and 93 % of the nighttime warming. The average UCI intensity of YREB has increased from 0.518 to 0.847 and is negatively correlated with LST with a decreasing slope. As the UCI intensity of green spaces increased, that of blue spaces decreased. Surface area and landscape pattern are the key determinants of UCI intensity in blue and green spaces, respectively, especially the landscape shape index (LSI). Therefore, maintaining ecological spaces, enriching the structural integrity of green spaces, and improving blue space connectivity can help cities at different development levels cope with heat stress during regional urbanization.

PURPOSE: To demonstrate the feasibility of zigzag sampling for 3D rapid hyperpolarized 129Xe ventilation MRI in human. METHODS: Zigzag sampling in one direction was combined with gradient-recalled echo sequence (GRE-zigzag-Y) to acquire hyperpolarized 129Xe ventilation images. Image quality was compared with a balanced SSFP (bSSFP) sequence with the same spatial resolution for 12 healthy volunteers (HVs). For another 8 HVs and 9 discharged coronavirus disease 2019 subjects, isotropic resolution 129Xe ventilation images were acquired using zigzag sampling in two directions through GRE-zigzag-YZ. 129Xe ventilation defect percent (VDP) was quantified for GRE-zigzag-YZ and bSSFP acquisitions. Relationships and agreement between these VDP measurements were evaluated using Pearson correlation coefficient (r) and Bland-Altman analysis. RESULTS: For 12 HVs, GRE-zigzag-Y and bSSFP required 2.2 s and 10.5 s, respectively, to acquire 129Xe images with a spatial resolution of 3.96 × 3.96 × 10.5 mm3. Structural similarity index, mean absolute error, and Dice similarity coefficient between the two sets of images and ventilated lung regions were 0.85 ± 0.03, 0.0015 ± 0.0001, and 0.91 ± 0.02, respectively. For another 8 HVs and 9 coronavirus disease 2019 subjects, 129Xe images with a nominal spatial resolution of 2.5 × 2.5 × 2.5 mm3 were acquired within 5.5 s per subject using GRE-zigzag-YZ. VDP provided by GRE-zigzag-YZ was strongly correlated (R2 = 0.93, p < 0.0001) with that generated by bSSFP with minimal biases (bias = -0.005%, 95% limit-of-agreement = [-0.414%, 0.424%]). CONCLUSION: Zigzag sampling combined with GRE sequence provides a way for rapid 129Xe ventilation imaging.

The TP63 gene is essential for epithelial proliferation, differentiation, and maintenance during embryogenesis. Despite considerable clinical variability, TP63-related symptoms are characterized by ectodermal dysplasia, distal limb malformations, and orofacial clefts. We identified a novel TP63 variant (c.619A > G, p.K207E) in a seven-month-old Chinese patient with orofacial clefts and ectrodactyly but no evident signs of ectodermal dysplasia. This phenotype was rarely reported before. We summarized the presence of the three main TP63-related manifestations in the literature and noted different distributions of CP- and CL/P-related variants regarding p63 structural domains.

Heavy metal pollution at an abandoned smelter pose a significant risk to environmental health. However, remediation strategies are constrained by inadequate knowledge of the polymetallic distribution, speciation patterns, and transformation factors at these sites. This study investigates the influence of soil minerals, heavy metal occurrence forms, and environmental factors on heavy metal migration behaviors and speciation transformations. X-ray diffraction analysis revealed that the minerals associated with heavy metals are mainly hematite, franklinite, sphalerite, and galena. Sequential extraction results suggest that lead and zinc are primarily present in the organic-sulfide fractions (F4) and residual form (F5) in the soil, accounting for over 70% of the total heavy metal content. Zinc displayed greater instability in carbonate-bound (16%) and exchangeable (2%) forms. The migration and diffusion patterns of heavy metals in the subsurface environment were visualized through the simulation of labile state heavy metals, demonstrating high congruence with groundwater pollution distribution patterns. The key environmental factors influencing heavy metal stable states (F4 and F5) were assessed by integrating random forest models and redundancy analysis. Primary factors facilitating Pb transformation into stable states were available phosphorus, clay content, depth, and soil organic matter. For Zn, the principal drivers were Mn oxides, soil organic matter, clay content, and inorganic sulfur ions. These findings enhance understanding of the distribution and transformation of heavy metal speciation and can provide valuable insights into controlling heavy metal pollution at non-ferrous smelting sites.

Electrochemistry-based light-emitting devices have gained considerable attention in different applications such as sensing and optical imaging. In particular, such systems are an interesting alternative for the development of multimodal light-emitting platforms. Herein we designed a multicolor light-emitting array, based on the electrochemical switch-on of light-emitting diodes (LEDs) with a different intrinsic threshold voltage. Thermodynamically and kinetically favored coupled redox reactions, i. e. the oxidation of Mg and the reduction of protons on Pt, act as driving force to power the diodes. Moreover, this system enables to trigger an additional light emission based on the interfacial reductive-oxidation electrochemiluminescence (ECL) mechanism of the Ru(bpy)3 2+/S2O8 2- system. The synergy between these light-emission pathways offers a multimodal platform for the straightforward optical readout of physico-chemical information based on composition changes of the solution.

Background: Low back pain (LBP) is primarily caused by intervertebral disc degeneration (IVDD). Immune cells penetrating nucleus pulposus (NP) tissues may play an important role in generating IVDD and LBP. Methods: The clinical data from 100 cases of IVDD patients was initially analyzed retrospectively. Subsequently, peripheral blood and NP tissues from 41 IVDD patients were gathered for a validated investigation. Among them, ribosome-removed-RNA sequencing (RNA-seq) was performed on 10 cases of NP tissues of specific classifications (VAS 3 and Pfirrmann 3 were used as the controls, while patients with VAS 6 and Pfirrmann 5 were used as the experimental group). Differentially expressed genes (DEGs) were identified for the subsequent bioinformatics analysis. Further methods to confirm the underlying cause of discogenic LBP included mast cell immunohistochemistry (IHC), 12 cytokine detection, Western blot (WB), and real-time polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR). Results: Discogenic LBP and IVDD severity are strongly associated, and immunological cell infiltration has been demonstrated to be a significant factor in LBP by bioanalytical research. Tryptase-positive mast cells were found to be significantly more abundant in the VAS 6 NP tissues of IVDD patients than in the VAS 3 NP tissues. It was initially demonstrated that IVDD and LBP were significantly impacted by hemokinin-1 (HK-1), the mast cell-related gene. Furthermore, blood levels of interleukin 12 p70 (IL-12P70) are noticeably elevated and strongly correlated with HK-1, indicating that HK-1 may be involved in the regulation of mast cell activity and IL-12P70 production. Conclusion: The severity of LBP was observed to be positively correlated with the IVDD Pfirrmann grading. Further research indicates that patients with IVDD may experience persistent low back pain due to HK-1 activation of mast cells and the release of the cytokine IL12P70. This work will offer new insights into the diagnosis and treatment of discogenic LBP.

OBJECTIVE: To explore the effect of Kümmell's disease with kyphosis on the sagittal morphology of the spine-pelvis. METHODS: A retrospective analysis of 34 patients of Kümmell's disease with kyphosis (Kümmell group) admitted from August 2015 to September 2022, including 10 males and 24 females with an average age of (71.1±8.5) years old. A control group of 37 asymptomatic population aged (69.3±6.7) years old was matched. Spinal-pelvic sagittal parameters were measured on the anterior-posterior and lateral X-rays of the whole spine in the standing position, including segmental kyphosis(SK) or thoracolumbar kyphosis(TLK), thoracic kyphosis(TK), lumbar lordosis(LL), pelvic incidence(PI), pelvic tilt(PT), sacral slope(SS), sagittal vertical axis(SVA), T1 pelvic angle(TPA) and PI-LL. Vertebral wedge angle(WA) in Kümmell was measured and differences in parameters among groups were analyzed and the relationship between spino-pelvic parameters and WA, SK were also investigated. RESULTS: TK, SK, PT, SVA, TPA and PI-LL in Kümmell group were significantly larger than those in control group (P<0.05), LL and SS in Kümmell group were significantly decreased than those in control group (P<0.05), and there was no significant difference in PI between two groups (P>0.05). In Kümmell group, WA(30.8±5.9)° showed a positive correlation with SK and TK(r=0.366, 0.597, P<0.05), and SK was significantly correlated with LL and SS(r=0.539, -0.591, P<0.05). Strong positive correlation between LL and PI, SS, SVA, TPA, PI-LL were also confirmed in patients with Kümmell with kyphosis(r=0.559, 0.741, -0.273, -0.356, -0.882, P<0.05). CONCLUSION: Patients with Kümmell with kyphosis not only have segmental kyphosis, but also changes the overall spinal-pelvic sagittal parameters, including loss of lumbar lordosis, pelvic retrorotation, trunk forward tilt. The surgical treatment of Kümmell disease should not only pay attention to the recovery of the height of the collapsed vertebra, but also focus on the overall balance of the spine-pelvic sagittal plane for patients with kyphosis.

Background and Aims: The National Standardized Training for Resident Doctors (STRD) in mainland China encounters many challenges in its implementation. To investigate whether outpatients are willing to undergo indirect ophthalmoscopy examination conducted by ophthalmology residents in the ophthalmology STRD program in China. Methods: This study conducted a cross-sectional survey at the Eye Hospital of Wenzhou Medical University between September 2021 and September 2023. A cohort of 300 initial outpatients requiring indirect ophthalmoscopy examinations were enlisted from the outpatient department. Based on whether the patients are willing to undergo an indirect ophthalmoscopy examination by resident doctors, patients were divided into two groups: Group 1 (willing) and Group 2 (unwilling), and their questionnaire responses were comparatively analyzed. Results: A total of 261/300 (87%) valid questionnaires were returned in the survey, which included 149 males and 112 females. No notable gender difference (p = 0.400) or disparity in medical expense categories (p = 0.786) was observed between the two groups. However, variables such as outpatient marital status (p = 0.002), the presence of training faculty during fundus examinations with residents and outpatients (p < 0.001), the demeanor of training residents toward patients (p < 0.001), and the quality of doctor-patient communication (p < 0.001) significantly varied between the groups. Conclusion: The level of outpatients' cooperation with ophthalmology residents during fundus examinations in the Chinese ophthalmology STRD program was observed to be low. Enhancing the presence of training faculty during examinations and enhancing the communication skills of training residents could significantly improve this situation.

Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) using hyperpolarized noble gases provides a way to visualize the structure and function of human lung, but the long imaging time limits its broad research and clinical applications. Deep learning has demonstrated great potential for accelerating MRI by reconstructing images from undersampled data. However, most existing deep convolutional neural networks (CNN) directly apply square convolution to k-space data without considering the inherent properties of k-space sampling, limiting k-space learning efficiency and image reconstruction quality. In this work, we propose an encoding enhanced (EN2) complex CNN for highly undersampled pulmonary MRI reconstruction. EN2 complex CNN employs convolution along either the frequency or phase-encoding direction, resembling the mechanisms of k-space sampling, to maximize the utilization of the encoding correlation and integrity within a row or column of k-space. We also employ complex convolution to learn rich representations from the complex k-space data. In addition, we develop a feature-strengthened modularized unit to further boost the reconstruction performance. Experiments demonstrate that our approach can accurately reconstruct hyperpolarized 129Xe and 1H lung MRI from 6-fold undersampled k-space data and provide lung function measurements with minimal biases compared with fully sampled images. These results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed algorithmic components and indicate that the proposed approach could be used for accelerated pulmonary MRI in research and clinical lung disease patient care.

The concept of molecular design, integrating diagnostic and therapeutic functions, aligns with the general trend of modern medical advancement. Herein, we rationally designed the smart molecule ER-ZS for endoplasmic reticulum (ER)-targeted diagnosis and treatment in cell and animal models by combining hemicyanine dyes with ER-targeted functional groups (p-toluenesulfonamide). Owing to its ability to target the ER with a highly specific response to viscosity, ER-ZS demonstrated substantial fluorescence turn-on only after binding to the ER, independent of other physiological environments. In addition, ER-ZS, being a small molecule, allows for the diagnosis of nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) via liver imaging based on high ER stress. Importantly, ER-ZS is a type I photosensitizer, producing O2 ⋅- and ⋅OH under light irradiation. Thus, after irradiating for a certain period, the photodynamic therapy inflicted severe oxidative damage to the ER of tumor cells in hypoxic (2 % O2 ) conditions and activated the unique pyroptosis pathway, demonstrating excellent antitumor capacity in xenograft tumor models. Hence, the proposed strategy will likely shed new light on integrating molecular optics for NAFLD diagnosis and cancer therapy.

PURPOSE: To evaluate the surgical, anatomical, and functional results of "viscoelastic agent pool" technique-assisted stability of inverted internal limiting membrane flap in macular hole retinal detachment. METHODS: The innovative surgical technique was performed on 10 patients with macular hole retinal detachment. The primary outcomes included best-corrected visual acuity after surgery, rate of closure of macular hole, retinal reattachment, and occurrence of complications. RESULTS: The mean age of the individuals was 67.70 ± 8.75 (range, 55-84) years; mean axial length, 29.34 ± 1.53 (range, 27.10-30.93) mm; mean corrected MH diameter, 685.30± 345.65 (range, 172-1,325) µ m; and average follow-up period, 6.01 ± 1.71 (range, 3.10-8.4) months. In 6 eyes (60%), the postoperative best-corrected visual acuity showed improvement. All patients had macular hole closure, and the retinal reattachment rate was 100%. No postoperative complications were noted. CONCLUSION: The "viscoelastic agent pool" technique, an innovative surgical approach designed to enhance the stability of the internal limiting membrane flap, serves as an effective adjunctive procedure for the inverted internal limiting membrane flap technique. It presents a viable option for patients with macular hole retinal detachment.

Uranium mining activities have contributed to the distribution and uptake of radionuclides, which have increased the active concentrations of natural radionuclides in environmental media, causing elevated human health risks. The present study aims to assess the spatial distribution characteristics of natural radionuclides in the surface soils and river sediments of the typical granite uranium mining area in South China, as well as investigate the geochemical features of natural radionuclides in the soil and sediments to understand their migration processes. The activity concentrations for 238U, 226Ra, 232Th, and 40K ranged from 17-3925 Bq/kg, 50-1180 Bq/kg, 29-459 Bq/kg, and 240-1890 Bq/kg, respectively. The open-pit mining areas and tailings pond locations exhibited the highest concentrations of activity for all these radionuclides. This distribution points to an elevated potential health risk due to radiological exposure in these specific areas. Additionally, the values of radium equivalent activity (Raeq) and annual gonadal dose equivalent (AGDE) in those areas were higher than the limits recommended by ICRP (2021). 238U and 226Ra have a significant correlation (0.724), and the cluster analysis was showing a statistically meaningful cluster below 5 indicated that they have similar behavior during parent rock weathering and watershed erosion, and the distribution of 232Th and 40K were influenced by the addition of rock types. The activity ratios of 226Ra/238U, 226Ra/232Th, 238U/40K, and 226Ra/40K variation indicated that 40K more mobile than 226Ra and 238U, U(VI) was reduced to U(IV) by organic matter in the downstream area and re-entered into the sediment during the sediment surface runoff in the small watershed of the uranium ore open-pit mining area. Therefore, it is necessary to further seal up and repair the tailings landfill area.

Pathophysiologic changes in lung diseases are often accompanied by changes in ventilation and gas exchange. Comprehensive evaluation of lung function cannot be obtained through chest X-ray and computed tomography. Proton-based lung MRI is particularly challenging due to low proton density within the lung tissue. In this review, we discuss an emerging technology--hyperpolarized gas MRI with inhaled 129Xe, which provides functional and microstructural information and has the potential as a clinical tool for detecting the early stage and progression of certain lung diseases. We review the hyperpolarized 129Xe MRI studies in patients with a range of pulmonary diseases, including chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, asthma, cystic fibrosis, pulmonary hypertension, radiation-induced lung injury and interstitial lung disease, and the applications of artificial intelligence were reviewed as well.

Prognosticating acute lung injury (ALI) is challenging, in part because of a lack of sensitive biomarkers. Hyperpolarized gas magnetic resonance (MR) has unique advantages in pulmonary function measurement and can provide promising biomarkers for the assessment of lung injuries. Herein, we employ hyperpolarized 129 Xe MRI and generate a number of imaging biomarkers to detect the pulmonary physiological and morphological changes during the progression of ALI in an animal model. We find the measured ratio of 129 Xe in red blood cells to interstitial tissue/plasma (RBC/TP) is significantly lower in the ALI group on the second (0.32 ± 0.03, p = 0.004), seventh (0.23 ± 0.03, p < 0.001), and 14th (0.29 ± 0.04, p = 0.001) day after lipopolysaccharide treatment compared with that in the control group (0.41 ± 0.04). In addition, significant differences are also observed for RBC/TP measurements between the second and seventh day (p = 0.001) and between the seventh and 14th day (p = 0.018) in the ALI group after treatment. Besides RBC/TP, significant differences are also observed in the measured exchange time constant (T) on the second (p = 0.038) and seventh day (p = 0.009) and in the measured apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) and alveolar surface-to-volume ratio (SVR) on the 14th day (ADC: p = 0.009 and SVR: p = 0.019) after treatment in the ALI group compared with that in the control group. These findings indicate that the parameters measured with 129 Xe MR can detect the dynamic changes in pulmonary structure and function in an ALI animal model.

BACKGROUND: Hyperpolarized (HP) gas MRI enables the clear visualization of lung structure and function. Clinically relevant biomarkers, such as ventilated defect percentage (VDP) derived from this modality can quantify lung ventilation function. However, long imaging time leads to image quality degradation and causes discomfort to the patients. Although accelerating MRI by undersampling k-space data is available, accurate reconstruction and segmentation of lung images are quite challenging at high acceleration factors. PURPOSE: To simultaneously improve the performance of reconstruction and segmentation of pulmonary gas MRI at high acceleration factors by effectively utilizing the complementary information in different tasks. METHODS: A complementation-reinforced network is proposed, which takes the undersampled images as input and outputs both the reconstructed images and the segmentation results of lung ventilation defects. The proposed network comprises a reconstruction branch and a segmentation branch. To effectively exploit the complementary information, several strategies are designed in the proposed network. Firstly, both branches adopt the encoder-decoder architecture, and their encoders are designed to share convolutional weights for facilitating knowledge transfer. Secondly, a designed feature-selecting block discriminately feeds shared features into decoders of both branches, which can adaptively pick suitable features for each task. Thirdly, the segmentation branch incorporates the lung mask obtained from the reconstructed images to enhance the accuracy of the segmentation results. Lastly, the proposed network is optimized by a tailored loss function that efficiently combines and balances these two tasks, in order to achieve mutual benefits. RESULTS: Experimental results on the pulmonary HP 129 Xe MRI dataset (including 43 healthy subjects and 42 patients) show that the proposed network outperforms state-of-the-art methods at high acceleration factors (4, 5, and 6). The peak signal-to-noise ratio (PSNR), structural similarity (SSIM), and Dice score of the proposed network are enhanced to 30.89, 0.875, and 0.892, respectively. Additionally, the VDP obtained from the proposed network has good correlations with that obtained from fully sampled images (r = 0.984). At the highest acceleration factor of 6, the proposed network promotes PSNR, SSIM, and Dice score by 7.79%, 5.39%, and 9.52%, respectively, in comparison to the single-task models. CONCLUSION: The proposed method effectively enhances the reconstruction and segmentation performance at high acceleration factors up to 6. It facilitates fast and high-quality lung imaging and segmentation, and provides valuable support in the clinical diagnosis of lung diseases.

The viscosity within cells is a crucial microenvironmental factor, and sulfur dioxide (SO2 ) has essential functions in regulating cellular apoptosis and inflammation. Some evidence has been confirmed that changes in viscosity and overexposure of SO2 within the cell may cause detrimental effects including, but not limited to, respiratory and cardiovascular illnesses, inflammation, fatty liver, and various types of cancer. Therefore, precise monitoring of SO2 and viscosity in biological entities holds immense practical importance. Therefore, in this research, we developed a versatile fluorescent TCF-Cou that enables the dual detection of SO2 and viscosity in the living system. Probe TCF-Cou possessed a response to viscosity and SO2 through red and green emissions. The alteration of SO2 and viscosity levels in live cells and zebrafish were also monitored using probe TCF-Cou. We hope that this fluorescent probe could be a potential tool for revealing the related pathological and physiological processes through monitoring the changes in SO2 and viscosity.

Activatable fluorescent and chemiluminescent dyes with near-infrared emission have indispensable roles in the fields of bioimaging, molecular prodrugs, and phototheranostic agents. As one of the most popular fluorophore scaffolds, the dicyanomethylene-4H-pyran scaffold has been applied to fabricate a large number of versatile activatable optical dyes for analytes detection and diseases diagnosis and treatment by virtue of its high photostability, large Stokes shift, considerable two-photon absorption cross-section, and structural modifiability. This review discusses the molecular design strategies, recognition mechanisms, and both in vitro and in vivo bio-applications (especially for diagnosis and therapy of tumors) of activatable dicyanomethylene-4H-pyran dyes. The final section describes the current shortcomings and future development prospects of this topic.

Biomass conversion aims at degrading the structural polysaccharides of lignocellulose into reducing sugars. Pretreatment is necessary to overcome the recalcitrance of lignocellulose. The DES La/ChCl in this paper was selected based on our previous study. To examine cellulase adsorption of lignocellulose after DES pretreatment, sorghum straw was pretreated with DES under different condition. The adsorption improvement of cellulase on lignocellulose after DES pretreatment has positive impact on reducing sugar production of biomass. After DES pretreatment, 1. pore corrosion caused the upward trend of pore radius and the downward trend of SSA. 2. the hydrogen bounding force of pretreated sorghum straw and MCC decreased, the hydrogen bounding force of pretreated lignin increased. 3. although the unsaturation of pretreated lignin increased, DES pretreatment is helpful for the removal of lignin. 4. The decrease in the hydrophobicity of sorghum straw make it easier to disperse. 5. the Zeta potential of pretreated sorghum straw shifted towards the positively charged region, while pretreated lignin shifted towards the negatively charged region. 6. different adsorption behaviors were observed in specific components of cellulase mixtures (BGs, CBHs, EGs and xlylanase). These results revealing the mechanism of enzyme adsorption are conductive for understanding the role of pretreatment in biomass conversion.
