OBJECTIVE@#To observe the efficacy and safety of different induction regimens of same total dosage of azacitidine (Aza), including standard dose (standard dose group) and low-dose long-term (adjusted dose group), in the treatment of elderly acute myeloid leukemia (AML).@*METHODS@#A total of 103 elderly patients with AML (non-acute promyelocytic leukemia) from January 2020 to June 2021 were enrolled. Aza was administered at the standard dose of 75 mg/(m2·d) for 7 days in the standard dose group (50 cases), while at 100 mg/d for 7-12 days in the adjusted dose group (53 cases). The administration days in adjusted dose group was calculated based on the total standard dose of the patient's single course of treatment. The efficacy and safety between standard dose group and adjusted dose group were compared. Subgroup analysis were performed in the two groups for Aza alone, Aza combined with BCL-2 inhibitor, and Aza combined with low-dose chemotherapy for efficacy and safety.@*RESULTS@#There were no significant differences in overall response rate (ORR), incidence of adverse reaction, and 1-year overall survival (OS) rate between standard dose group and adjusted dose group (P >0.05). The ORR of combination was higher than that of Aza alone (P < 0.05), while there was no significant difference in ORR between Aza combined with BCL-2 inhibitor and Aza combined with low-dose chemotherapy (P >0.05). The combination of BCL-2 inhibitor did not increase the incidence of adverse reactions compared wtih Aza alone. There was a higher risk of myelosuppression and pulmonary infection with a combination of low-dose chemotherapy than with a combination of BCL-2 inhibitor and Aza alone (P <0.05). No significant difference was observed in 1-year OS between Aza alone, Aza combined with BCL-2 inhibitor, and Aza combined with low-dose chemotherapy (P >0.05).@*CONCLUSIONS@#Both two induction regimens can be used in elderly AML patients who cannot tolerate intensive chemotherapy with similar overall effectiveness and safety. Aza combined with low-dose chemotherapy may result in increased ORR and an increased incidence of serious adverse reactions, and may not result in longer survival compared with Aza alone. Aza combined with BCL-2 inhibitor not only has similar effect in complete remission, objective response rate, and OS compared with Aza combined with low-dose chemotherapy, but also has higher safety.

Objective: To compare the short-term outcomes between off-pump and on-pump coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) by experienced surgeons with similar surgical team in a single large-volume cardiac surgery center. Methods: A total of 31 075 patients with multivessel coronary disease who underwent isolated off-pump or on-pump CABG between January 1, 2009 and December 31, 2019 by experienced surgeons in Fuwai hospital were enrolled in this retrospective study. Patients was divided into on-pump CABG group and on-pump CABG group on an intention-to treat basis. Short term safety endpoints, including 30 days mortality, composite endpoint of major morbidity or mortality, prolonged postoperative length of stay (PLOS), and prolonged ICU length of stay (PICULOS), and distal anastomosis were compared between the two groups. Mortality was evaluated on 30 days post operation, other endpoints were collected before discharge. After 1∶1 propensity-score matching of baseline characteristics for on-pump and off-pump CABG, postoperative endpoints were compared with use of McNemar's test and further adjusted with the use of a logistic regression model. Results: After propensity-score matching, 10 243 matched pairs of patients were included in the final analysis, there were 4 605(22.5%) females and mean age was (60.7±8.6) years. The standardized differences were less than 5% for all baseline variables in matched cohort. Univariate analysis indicated lower risk of 30 days mortality (0.2% vs. 0.7%, P<0.001), major morbidity or mortality (5.7% vs. 8.8%, P<0.001), PLOS (3.2% vs. 4.9%, P<0.001), PICULOS (9.4% vs. 12.2, P<0.001), and lower number of distal anastomosis ((3.3±0.8) vs. (3.6±0.8), P<0.001) in off-pump CABG group than in on-pump CABG group. After adjustment of cofounders, multivariate analysis showed that off-pump CABG was still associated with a lower risk of 30 days mortality (OR=0.29, 95%CI: 0.09-0.87, P=0.027), composite endpoint of major morbidity or mortality (OR=0.60, 95%CI: 0.53-0.68, P<0.001), PLOS (OR=0.64, 95%CI 0.54-0.75, P<0.001), PICULOS (OR=0.76, 95%CI: 0.69-0.84, P<0.001). Conclusions: Off-pump CABG is related with superior short-term safety outcomes than on-pump CABG by experienced surgeons in our center.

Oocyte apoptosis can be used as an indicator of oocyte quality and development competency. Phospholipase C (PLC) is a critical enzyme that participates in phosphoinositide metabolic regulation and performs many functions, including the regulation of reproduction. In this study, we aimed to explore whether PLC participates in the regulation of apoptosis in porcine oocytes and investigated its possible mechanism. In porcine oocytes, 0.5 µM U73122 (the PLC inhibitor) was considered to be the best concentration to facilitate maturation, and 0.5 µM m-3M3FBS (the PLC activator) was regarded as the most appropriate concentration to inhibit maturation. The percentage of cleavage and blastocysts treated with 0.5 µM U73122 was lower than that of the control group. Furthermore, the percentage of cleavage and blastocysts treated with 0.5 µM m-3M3FBS was higher than that of the control group. The relative PLC messenger RNA (mRNA) expression tested by a quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction was found to be inhibited by 0.5 µM U73122 or activated by 0.5 µM m-3M3FBS. The relative mRNA abundance of BAK, BAX, CASP3, CASP8, and TP53 and protein abundance of Bak, cleaved caspase-3, caspase-8, and P53 was activated by U73122 or inhibited by m-3M3FBS, while the relative mRNA and protein level of BCL6 showed the opposite trend. The intracellular Ca2+ concentration increased and the expression of PLCB1 protein also increased in porcine oocytes when they were cultured with 0.5 µM m-3M3FBS for 44 hours. The abundance of proteins PKCß and CAMKIIα and the expression of several downstream genes (CDC42, NFATc1, NFATc2, NFκB, and NLK) were activated by m-3M3FBS or inhibited by U73122. Our findings indicate that PLC inhibits apoptosis and maturation in porcine oocytes. The intracellular Ca2+ concentration, two Ca2+ -sensitive proteins, and several downstream genes were positively regulated by PLC.

RESUMO

In the present study, two new acetylene conjugate compounds, dibutyl (2Z, 6Z)-octa-2, 6-dien-4-yne dioate (1), and dibutyl (2E, 6E)- octa-2, 6-dien-4-yne dioate (2), were isolated from the dry stem leaves of Viscum album, along with nine known compounds (3 - 11). Their structures were confirmed on the basis of spectroscopic data. Compounds 1 and 8 showed antioxidant activity against xanthine oxidase (XOD) and 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl radical 2,2-diphenyl-1-(2,4,6-trinitrophenyl) hydroxyl (DPPH), with the IC of 1.22 and 1.33 μmol·L, and the SC of 4.34 and 8.22 μmol·L, respectively.

In the development process from the preclinical stage to the subsequent clinical phase,one critical risk controlling step is the determination of the first-in-human (FIH) dose.There is difference in the mechanisms of action and toxic risks between biopharmaceuticals and small molecule drugs,therefore different considerations will be involved in the determination of the FIH dose for biopharmaceuticals.This paper presents the overall review of the preclinical studies supporting the determination of FIH dose and the approaches based on the NOAEL,MABLE,and PK/PD model.The experience-based views that the MABLE-based FIH dose for immune activating products would be reasonably safe,although the NOAEL approach remains conservative and widely used for a majority of biopharmaceuticals are also presented.It is suggested that sponsors should determine the appropriate and safe FIH dose by diverse approaches according to the characteristics of product.Early communication between sponsors and regulators is always beneficial.

Melatonin (N-acetyl-5-methoxytryptamine) is documented as a hormone involved in the circadian regulation of physiological and neuroendocrine function in mammals. Herein, the effects of melatonin on the functions of porcine granulosa cells in vitro were investigated. Porcine granulosa cells were cultivated with variable concentrations of melatonin (0, 0.001, 0.01, 0.1, 1.0, and 10ng/mL) for 48h. Melatonin receptor agonist (IIK7) and antagonist (Luzindole, 4P-PDOT) were used to further examine the action of melatonin. The results showed optimum cell viability and colony-forming efficiency of porcine granulosa cells at 0.01ng/mL melatonin for 48-h incubation period. The percentage of apoptotic granulosa cells was significantly reduced by 0.01 and 0.1ng/mL melatonin within the 48-h incubation period as compared with the rest of the treatments. Estradiol biosynthesis was significantly stimulated by melatonin supplementation and suppressed for the progesterone secretion; the minimum ratio of progesterone to estradiol was 1.82 in 0.01ng/mL melatonin treatment after 48h of cultivation. Moreover, the expression of BCL-2, CYP17A1, CYP19A1, SOD1, and GPX4 were up-regulated by 0.01ng/mL melatonin or combined with IIK7, but decreased for the mRNA levels of BAX, P53, and CASPASE-3, as compared with control or groups treated with Luzindole or 4P-PDOT in the presence of melatonin. In conclusion, the study demonstrated that melatonin mediated proliferation, apoptosis, and steroidogenesis in porcine granulosa cells predominantly through the activation of melatonin receptor MT2 in vitro, which provided evidence of the beneficial role of melatonin as well as its functional mechanism in porcine granulosa cells in vitro.

Alpha-lipoic acid (ALA) is known to be a natural antioxidant. The aim of the present study was to evaluate the cryoprotective effect of ALA on the motility of boar spermatozoa and its antioxidant effect on boar spermatozoa during freezing-thawing. Different concentrations (2.0, 4.0, 6.0, 8.0 or 10.0 mg/ml) of ALA were added to the extender used to freeze boar semen, and the effects on the quality and endogenous antioxidant enzyme activities of frozen-thawed spermatozoa were assessed. The results indicated that the addition of ALA to the extender resulted in a higher percentage of motile spermatozoa post-thaw (P < 0.05). The activities of superoxide dismutase, lactate dehydrogenase, glutamic-oxaloacetic transaminase and catalase improved after adding ALA to the extender (P < 0.05). Artificial insemination results showed that pregnancy rate and litter size were significantly higher at 6.0 mg/ml in the ALA group than in the control group (P < 0.05). In conclusion, ALA conferred a cryoprotective capacity to the extender used for boar semen during the process of freezing-thawing, and the optimal concentration of ALA for the frozen extender was 6.0 mg/ml.

Salvia miltiorrhiza polysaccharides (SMPs) were extracted from S. miltiorrhiza in this study. The aim of the present study was to evaluate the effect of SMP on the motility of boar sperm, including the antioxidant effect of SMP on boar sperm and the effect of SMP on the in vivo fertilizing ability of frozen-thawed boar sperm. Fifty ejaculates from 5 Swagger boars were collected and diluted with an extender, which contained 3% glycerol (v/v) with five concentrations of SMP (0.2, 0.4, 0.6, 0.8, and 1.0mg/mL). The semen was frozen in 0.25mL straws at 1.0×10(9) cells/mL. Sixty gilts were inseminated using fresh semen, frozen semen with 0.4mg/mL of SMP and frozen semen without SMP. The results indicate that the addition of SMP to the extender results in a higher percentage of motile sperm post-thaw (P<0.05). The activities of superoxide dismutase, lactate dehydrogenase, glutamic-oxalacetic transaminease and catalase were all determined to be significantly higher than the control group after adding SMP to the extender (P<0.05). The artificial insemination (AI) results demonstrated that the litter size was significantly higher in the 0.4mg/mL of SMP group than in the control group (P<0.05). In conclusion, during the process of freezing, SMP can protect boar sperm from peroxidative damage and increase sperm motility and litter size during the process of freezing-thawing. The optimal concentration of SMP for the frozen extenders in this study was determined to be 0.4mg/mL.

The objective of this study was to observe the apoptosis-inducing effect and mechanism of baicalin on human cervical cancer HeLa cells. The inhibitory effect of baicalin on the growth of HeLa cells was measured by MTT assay, and cell proliferation and migration was analyzed by cell scratch assay. Morphological changes of apoptotic cells were viewed by the light microscope and electron microscope, and cell growth arrest was confirmed by flow cytometry. Moreover, Western blot was used for investigating the expression of apoptosis related proteins; spectrophotometry was used to examine Caspase-3 activation. Our results showed that baicalin could inhibit the proliferation of HeLa Cells via induction of apoptosis in a time and dose-dependent manner (P<0.01). Apoptotic signaling induced by baicalin was characterized by up-regulating Bax, Fas, FasL and Caspase-8 protein expression, and down-regulating of Bcl-2 protein expression. These results indicated that baicalin-induced apoptosis involved activation Caspase-3 in HeLa cells through the intracellular mitochondrial pathway and the surface death receptor pathway.

@#Objective To explore the factors associated with the complications of cranioplasty, infection and local epidural hematoma, such as age, sex, primary disease, skull defect and concomitant hydrocephalus. Methods 211 patients after cranioplasty were reviewed. Results 8 cases (3.8%) complicated one of them, in which 6 cases with local epidural hematoma and 2 cases with infection. The infection was more likely related with the areas of skull defect (P=0.003). No factor was found related with the local epidural hematoma. Conclusion It is necessary to focus the size of the frontal sinus when repairing the the frontal bone, to avoid the screw into the frontal sinus caused infection.

The meta-analysis was conducted to evaluate the correlations between common genetic polymorphisms in the IFN-γ gene and susceptibility to breast cancer. The following electronic databases were searched without language restrictions: MEDLINE (1966 ~ 2013), the Cochrane Library Database (issue 12, 2013), EMBASE (1980 ~ 2013), CINAHL (1982 ~ 2013), Web of Science (1945 ~ 2013), and the Chinese Biomedical Database (CBM) (1982 ~ 2013). Meta-analysis was performed with the use of the STATA statistical software. Odds ratios (OR) with their 95 % confidence intervals (95 % CIs) were calculated. Nine clinical case-control studies met all the inclusion criteria and were included in this meta-analysis. A total of 1,182 breast cancer patients and 1,525 healthy controls were involved in this meta-analysis. Three functional polymorphisms were assessed, including rs2069705 C>T, rs2430561 T>A, and CA repeats 2/X. Our meta-analysis results indicated that IFN-γ genetic polymorphisms might be significantly associated with an increased risk of breast cancer (allele model: OR = 1.37, 95 % CI = 1.03 ~ 1.83, P = 0.031; dominant model: OR = 1.55, 95 % CI = 1.01 ~ 2.37, P = 0.046; homozygous model: OR = 2.23, 95 % CI = 1.30 ~ 3.82, P = 0.004; respectively), especially the rs2430561 T>A polymorphism. Subgroup analysis based on ethnicity suggested that genetic polymorphisms in the IFN-γ gene were closely correlated with increased breast cancer risk among Asians (allele model: OR = 1.21, 95 % CI = 1.02 ~ 1.58, P = 0.017; dominant model: OR = 3.44, 95 % CI = 2.07 ~ 5.71, P < 0.001; recessive model: OR = 1.58, 95 % CI = 1.06 ~ 2.37, P = 0.025; homozygous model: OR = 1.83, 95 % CI = 1.19 ~ 2.80, P = 0.006; respectively), but not among Caucasians (all P > 0.05). Our meta-analysis supported the hypothesis that IFN-γ genetic polymorphisms may contribute to an increased risk of breast cancer, especially the rs2430561 T>A polymorphism among Asians.

In vitro differentiation of spermatogonial stem cells (SSCs) promotes the understanding of the mechanism of spermatogenesis. The purpose of this study was to isolate spermatogonial stem cell-like cells from murine testicular tissue, which then were induced into haploid germ cells by retinoic acid (RA). The spermatogonial stem cell-like cells were purified and enriched by a two-step plating method based on different adherence velocities of SSCs and somatic cells. Cell colonies were present after culture in M1-medium for 3 days. Through alkaline phosphatase, RT-PCR and indirect immunofluorescence cell analysis, cell colonies were shown to be SSCs. Subsequently, cell colonies of SSCs were cultured in M2-medium containing RA for 2 days. Then the cell colonies of SSCs were again cultured in M1-medium for 6-8 days, RT-PCR and indirect immunofluorescence cell analysis were chosen to detect haploid male germ cells. It could be demonstrated that 10(-7) mol l(-1) of RA effectively induced the SSCs into haploid male germ cells in vitro.

Low-density lipoproteins (LDL) is known to protect boar sperm during freezing-thawing, but little information is known about the effects of LDL extracted from different avian egg yolks on post-thaw boar semen quality. The purpose of this study was to compare and analyze the effects of LDL at various concentrations and different species on boar sperm quality after freezing-thawing. LDL extracted from the yolk of hen egg, duck egg, quail egg, pigeon egg or ostrich egg was added to the extender at the concentrations of 0.06, 0.07, 0.08, 0.09 and 0.1 g/ml, respectively, and their effects on frozen-thawed boar sperm quality were assessed. According to all measured parameters, the results showed that sperm motility, acrosome integrity and plasma membrane integrity were 43.20%, 52.57% and 48.13%, respectively, after being frozen-thawed with 0.09 g/ml LDL extracted from pigeon egg yolk. All these quality parameters were higher than that of other groups (P < 0.05). In conclusion, our results confirmed that LDL extracted from pigeon egg yolk had the best cryoprotective effects on frozen-thawed boar sperm among all of the groups supplemented with LDL from five kinds of avian egg in extender. The optimum concentration of LDL extracted from pigeon egg in boar semen freezing extender was 0.09 g/ml.

To date, there has been little improvement in cryopreservation of bull sperm due to lack of understanding of the freezing mechanisms. Therefore, this study set out to investigate expression levels of fertility-associated proteins in bull sperm, and in particular the relationship between the 90 kDa heat-shock protein (HSP90) and the sperm characteristics after freezing-thawing. Semen was collected from eight Holstein bulls by artificial vagina. Characteristics of these fresh semen, including sperm motility, morphology, viability and concentration, were evaluated. Sperm quality was also assessed after freezing-thawing. Eight ejaculates were divided into two groups based on freezing resistance and sperm motility. Sperm proteins were extracted and sodium dodecyl sulphate polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (SDS-PAGE) analysis and western blotting were performed. SDS-PAGE results showed that there was substantial diversity in 90 kDa proteins in the frozen-thawed sperm and HSP90 was confirmed as one of the 90 kDa proteins by western blot. This study indicated that HSP90 expression correlated positively with sperm quality. The amount of expressed 90 kDa proteins in the high freezing resistance (HFR) group was significantly higher than that in the low freezing resistance (LFR) group (P < 0.05). Thus, higher expression of HSP90 could probably lead to the higher motility and freezing resistance of sperm found after freezing-thawing. Therefore, we concluded that level of HSP90 expression could be used to predict reliably and simply the freezing resistance of bull sperm.

Spermatogonial stem cells (SSCs) have the ability to self-renew and offer a pathway for genetic engineering of the male germ line. Cryopreservation of SSCs has potential value for the treatment of male infertility, spermatogonial transplantation, and so on. In order to investigate the cryopreservation effects of different cryoprotectants on murine SSCs, 0.2 M of low-density lipoproteins (LDL), trehalose and soybean lecithin were added to the cryoprotective medium, respectively, and the murine SSCs were frozen at -80°C or -196°C. The results indicated that the optimal recovery rates of murine SSCs in the cryoprotective medium supplemented with LDL, trehalose and soybean lecithin were 92.53, 76.35 and 75.48% at -80°C, respectively. Compared with freezing at -196°C, the optimum temperature for improvement of recovery rates of frozen murine SSCs, cryopreservation in three different cryoprotectants at -80°C, were 17.11, 6.68 and 10.44% respectively. The recovery rates of murine SSCs in the cryoprotective medium supplemented with 0.2 M LDL were significantly higher than that of other cryoprotectants (P < 0.05). Moreover, the recovery rates were demonstrated to be greater at -80°C compared with at -196°C (P < 0.05). In conclusion, 0.2 M of LDL could significantly protect murine SSCs at -80°C. In the freezing-thawing process, LDL is responsible for the cryopreservation of murine SSCs because it can form a protective film at the surface of membranes. However, more research is needed to evaluate and understand the precise role of LDL during the freezing-thawing of SSCs.

Spermatogenesis is a process in adult male mammals supported by spermatogonial stem cells (SSCs). The cultivation of SSCs has potential value, for example for the treatment of male infertility or spermatogonial transplantation. Testicular interstitial fluid was added to culture medium to a final concentration of 5, 10, 20, 30 or 40%, in order to investigate its effects on proliferation of mouse SSCs in vitro, Alkaline phosphatase (AKP) assay, reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) analysis and indirect immunofluorescence of cells were performed to identify SSCs, and the proliferation rate and diameters of the SSCs colonies were measured. The results showed that the optimal addition of testicular interstitial fluid to culture medium was 30%. When medium supplemented with 30% testicular interstitial fluid was used to culture mouse SSCs, the optimum proliferation rate and diameter of the cell colonies were 72.53% and 249 µm, respectively, after 8 days in culture, values that were significant higher than those found for other groups (P < 0.05). In conclusion, proliferation of mouse SSCs could be promoted significantly by supplementation of the culture medium with 30% testicular interstitial fluid. More research is needed to evaluate and understand the precise physiological role of testicular interstitial fluid during cultivation of SSCs.

Spermatogonial stem cells (SSCs) are the only type of cells that transmit genes to the subsequent generations. The proliferation, cultivation and identification of SSCs in vitro are critical to understanding of male infertility, genetic resources and conservation of endangered species. To investigate the effects of glial cell-derived neurotrophic factor (GDNF) and leukemia inhibitory factor (LIF) on the proliferation of mouse SSCs in vitro, supplement of GDNF and/or LIF were designed to culture SSCs. The testes of 6-8 d mouse were harvested and digested by two-step enzyme digestion method. The SSCs and Sertoli cells were separated by differential plating. Then the SSCs were identified by alkaline phosphatase staining, RT-PCR and indirect immunofluorescence cell analysis. The cellular proliferation capacity was measured by methyl thiazolyl tetrazolium assay. The results showed that addition of 20 and 40 ng/ml of GDNF could strongly promote growth of mouse SSCs (p < 0.05). There was no significant difference between LIF treatment groups and the control group in promoting proliferation of the mouse SSCs (p > 0.05). However, the combination of 20 ng/ml GDNF and 1,000 U/ml LIF could significantly enhance the invitro proliferation of mouse SSCs (p < 0.05), and the OD490 value was 0.696 at day 5 of culture when the density of SSCs was 5-10 × 10(4) cells/ml.

The aim of the present study was to evaluate the cryoprotective effect of Laminaria japonic polysaccharide (LJP) on boar sperm. Semen samples were collected from seven mature Yorkshire boars once a week by the gloved hand technique and frozen-thawed in the extender with LJP added. Extender with LJP added at concentrations of 0.25, 0.5, 1.0, 1.5 and 2.0mg/mL to the extender and its effects on the quality of frozen-thawed boar sperm were assessed. Results showed: (i) sperm motility and plasma membrane integrity were greater in the extender containing 0.5 and 1.0mg/mL LJP, as compared to other groups (P<0.05); (ii) extender added 1.0mg/mL LJP showed the greatest plasma membrane and acrosomal integrity percentages in comparison with other groups (P<0.05); (iii) mitochondrial activity was significantly higher at the concentration of 0.5 and 1.0mg/mL LJP than those of other groups (P<0.05); (iv) in terms of biochemical assessments, 0.5 and 1.0mg/mL LJP improved SOD (superoxide dismutase) and CAT (catalase) concentrations, compared to other groups (P<0.05). However, no significant difference was found in GSH-Px (glutathione peroxidase) concentration when supplemented with LJP. Interestingly, LJP exhibited a dose-related response and the lesser concentration represented greater protective effects. It is also important to note that 1.0mg/mL LJP provides for an enhanced cryoprotective effect in boar semen.

Human lactoferrin (hLF) is a multifunctional glycoprotein that can inhibit cancer growth. The molecular mechanism of hLF-induced tumor growth inhibition is incompletely understood. Moreover, the adenovirus vector-mediated hLF (Ad-hLF) gene therapy on cervical cancer has not been yet characterized. In this study, the replication-deficient Ad-hLF was used to explore tumor growth suppression effects on cervical cancer in vitro and in vivo. The results showed that the recombinant adenovirus encoding hLF delivery resulted in a more differential tumor growth inhibition, and this growth arrest was caused by cell cycle inhibition at G2/M phase. In addition, Fas, a death-inducing receptor, and Bax, a member of pro-apoptotic Bcl-2 family, were increased in the sample of cervical cancer tissue treated by Ad-hLF. Further, it was also observed that caspase-3 was activated and the expression of anti-apoptotic Bcl-2 was decreased. These results indicated that the growth inhibitory effects of Ad-hLF on cervical cancer were caused by elevated expression of Fas and decreased the ratio of anti- to pro-apoptotic molecule Bcl-2/Bax.
