RESUMO

Quantum simulation of different exotic topological phases of quantum matter on a noisy intermediate-scale quantum (NISQ) processor is attracting growing interest. Here, we develop a one-dimensional 43-qubit superconducting quantum processor, named Chuang-tzu, to simulate and characterize emergent topological states. By engineering diagonal Aubry-André-Harper (AAH) models, we experimentally demonstrate the Hofstadter butterfly energy spectrum. Using Floquet engineering, we verify the existence of the topological zero modes in the commensurate off-diagonal AAH models, which have never been experimentally realized before. Remarkably, the qubit number over 40 in our quantum processor is large enough to capture the substantial topological features of a quantum system from its complex band structure, including Dirac points, the energy gap's closing, the difference between even and odd number of sites, and the distinction between edge and bulk states. Our results establish a versatile hybrid quantum simulation approach to exploring quantum topological systems in the NISQ era.

RESUMO

Non-reciprocal reflections of optical signals are unusual yet fascinating to achieve the imminent applications of non-reciprocal photonic devices and circuits. The complete non-reciprocal reflection (unidirectional reflection) was recently found to be achievable in a homogeneous medium, if the real and imaginary parts of the probe susceptibility satisfy the spatial Kramers-Kronig (KK) relation. We propose a coherent four-level tripod model for realizing dynamically tunable two-color non-reciprocal reflections by applying two control fields with linearly modulated intensities. We found that, the unidirectional reflection can be obtained if the non-reciprocal frequency regions are located in the electromagnetically induced transparency (EIT) windows. This mechanism is to break the spatial symmetry by the spatial modulation of susceptibility to induce unidirectional reflections, the real and imaginary parts of the probe susceptibility are no longer required to satisfy the spatial KK relation.

RESUMO

High concentration oxygen is widely used in the treatment of neonates, which has a significant effect on improving blood oxygen concentration in neonates with respiratory distress. The adverse effects of hyperoxia therapy on the lung, retina, and neurodevelopment of newborns have been extensively studied, but less attention has been paid to intestinal damage caused by hyperoxia therapy. In this review, we focus on the physical, immune, and microorganism barriers of the intestinal tract and discuss neonatal intestinal tract damage caused by hyperoxia therapy and analyze the molecular mechanism of intestinal damage caused by hyperoxia in combination with necrotizing enterocolitis.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Oxacillin-susceptible mecA-positive Staphylococcus aureus (OS-MRSA) represents an important issue, as its oxacillin susceptibility has contributed to misidentification by conventional susceptibility tests and consequently potential therapeutic failure, but limited data on the current status of OS-MRSA infection in Chinese hospitals are available. METHODS: This multicenter study performed a battery of susceptibility tests and diagnostic tests for 956 S. aureus isolates from 10 hospitals, including automated susceptibility testing on VITEK 2, broth microdilution, disk diffusion, and detection of PBB2a, mecA gene and mecC gene. For all identified OS-MRSA, multi-locus sequence typing (MLST), together with spa typing, SCCmec typing and PVL detecting, was carried out. RESULTS: OS-MRSA, most of which were from pediatric inpatients, represented 1.8% (17/956) of total isolates. Of these 17 OS-MRSA, 10 were ST59, followed by ST965 (3/17), and 11 carried SCCmec type IV, while 5 carried SCCmec type V, but only one was Panton-Valentine leucocidin (PVL)-positive, also, 16 had one or two point mutations within mecA promoter. OS-MRSA had inducible oxacillin resistance and significantly lower MDR (Multi-Drug Resistant) rate. We observed that the VITEK 2 system exhibited some deficiency in OS-MRSA detection, whereas cefoxitin disk diffusion was shown to be a reliable and cost-saving alternative and should be supplemented in detecting S. aureus with borderline oxacillin susceptible MICs. CONCLUSION: This study has characterized phenotypically and molecularly OS-MRSA in China, and provided insights into more effective management of OS-MRSA.
