RESUMO

Electrochemical ammonium (NH4+) storage (EAS) has been established as an efficient technology for NH4+ recovery from wastewater. However, there are scientific difficulties unsolved regarding low storage capacity and selectivity, restricting its extensive engineering applications. In this work, electrochemically selective NH4+ recovery from wastewater was achieved by coupling hydrogen bonding and charge storage with self-assembled bi-layer composite electrode (GO/V2O5). The NH4+ storage was as high as 234.7 mg N g-1 (> 102 times higher than conventional activated carbon). Three chains of proof were furnished to elucidate the intrinsic mechanisms for such superior performance. Density functional theory (DFT) showed that an excellent electron-donating ability for NH4+ (0.08) and decrease of diffusion barrier (22.3 %) facilitated NH4+ diffusion onto electrode interface. Physio- and electro-chemical results indicated that an increase of interlamellar spacing (14.3 %) and electrochemical active surface area (ECSA, 388.9 %) after the introduction of GO were responsible for providing greater channels and sites toward NH4+ insertion. Both non-ionic chemical-bonding (V5+=O‧‧‧H, hydrogen-bonding) and charge storage were contributed to the higher capacity and selectivity for NH4+. This work offers underlying guideline for exploitation a storage manner for NH4+ recovery from wastewater.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Building interprofessional working relationships between general practitioners (GPs) and pharmacists is essential to ensure high-quality patient care. However, there is limited Chinese literature on GP-pharmacist collaboration, and few studies have explored GPs' experiences with pharmacist integration into general practices. This study aimed to investigate GPs' attitudes towards and frequency of collaboration with pharmacists in China. METHODS: This cross-sectional study used an online self-administered questionnaire integrating two scales, ATCI-GP and FICI-GP, which had been translated and validated to investigate 3,248 GPs from February 15 to March 15, 2023 across Zhejiang Province, China. Descriptive analyses were used, and the factors associated with GPs' frequency of collaboration with pharmacists were explored using logistic regression analysis. RESULTS: A total of 2,487 GPs (76.6%) responded and consented to participate in the survey; 52.3% were male and the mean age was 35.4 years. Most GPs agreed that they shared common goals and objectives with pharmacists when caring for patients (90.0%), and pharmacists were open to working with them on patients' medication management (80.8%). However, half of the GPs did not change or seldom changed the patient's medication on the pharmacist's advice (51.4%). Logistic regression analysis showed that GPs who were older and had more years of practice were more likely to agree that pharmacists were willing to collaborate, had common goals for treatment and that they would change the patient's medication on the advice of the pharmacist. GPs who had regular communication protocols (adjusted odds ratio1 [aOR1] = 1.88, 95% CI 1.45-2.45; aOR2 = 3.33, 95% CI 2.76-4.02), participated in joint continuing education (aOR1 = 1.87, 95% CI 1.44-2.43; aOR2 = 2.27, 95% CI 1.91-2.70), provided recommendations for medication review (aOR1 = 3.01, 95% CI 2.07-4.38; aOR2 = 3.50, 95% CI 2.51-4.86), and communicated with pharmacists during resident training (aOR1 = 2.15, 95% CI 1.78-2.60; aOR2 = 1.38, 95% CI 1.18-1.62) were associated with a more positive attitude towards and higher frequency of cooperation. CONCLUSIONS: GPs in China displayed a positive attitude towards cooperating with pharmacists, but they did not demonstrate a similar level of practice. As environmental determinants impact interdisciplinary collaboration, healthcare managers and policy-makers need to implement measures that foster a supportive environment conducive to interdisciplinary collaboration.

RESUMO

Background: The dissemination of online health information (OHI) on medication use via WeChat Official Accounts (WOAs) is an effective way to help primary care practitioners (PCPs) address drug-related problems (DRPs) in the community. Although an increasing number of primary care institutions in China have published WOA posts on medication use, their content and quality have not yet been assessed. Objective: This study aimed to explore the general features and content of WOA posts on medication use published by community healthcare centers (CHCs) in Shanghai, China and to assess their quality of content. It also aimed to explore the factors associated with the number of post views. Methods: From June 1 to October 31, 2022, two coauthors independently screened WOA posts on medication use published throughout 2021 by the CHCs in Shanghai. Content analysis was performed to analyze their general features (format, length, and source, etc.) and content (types of medicines and diseases). The QUEST tool was used to assess the quality of the posts. We compared the differences among posts published by CHCs in central urban areas and suburban areas, and used multiple linear regression to explore the factors associated with the number of post views. Results: A total of 236 WOAs of interest published 37,147 posts in 2021, and 275 (0.74%) of them were included in the study. The median number of post views was 152. Thirty percent of the posts were reviewed by the CHCs' staff before publication and only 6% provided information on PCPs' consultations. The most commonly mentioned medicines and diseases in the posts were Chinese patent medicines (37.1%) and respiratory diseases (29.5%). The posts frequently provided information on indications (77%) and usage (56%) but rarely on follow-up (13%) and storage (11%). Of the posts, 94.9% had a total QUEST score < 17 (full score = 28). The median number of post views and total post quality scores did not significantly differ among the CHCs in central urban and suburban areas. In the multiple linear regression model, the number of post views was associated with scores of complementarity (B = 56.47, 95% CI 3.05, 109.89) and conflict of interest (B = -46.40, 95% CI -56.21, -36.60). Conclusion: The quantity and quality of WOA posts on medication use published by CHCs in China need improvement. The quality of posts may partially impact the dissemination effect, but intrinsic causal associations merit further exploration.

RESUMO

Taking a robust zirconium-based metal-organic framework, UiO-66, as a prototype, functional postmodification via the versatile Cu(I)-catalyzed azide-alkyne "click" reaction was carried out, and sulfonic acid groups were successfully grafted into its skeleton. Characterizations revealed that the MOF network was still well maintained after being treated by "clicked" modification. Investigations by electrochemical impedance spectroscopy measurements revealed that its proton conductivity increases exponentially up to 8.8 × 10-3 S cm-1 at 80 °C and 98% RH, while those of the UiO-66 and UiO-66-NH2 are only 6.3 × 10-6 and 3.5 × 10-6 S cm-1, respectively, at the same condition. Additionally, the continuous test shows it possesses long-life reusability. Such a remarkable enhancement on the proton conductivities and high performance in long-life reusability of the resultant MOF demonstrated that the "click" reaction is a facile reaction in postmodification of robust porous materials toward targeted applications, with which highly promising candidates of proton-conductive electrolytes for applying in proton-exchange-membrane (PEM) fuel cell can be achieved.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the associations between interleukin (IL) gene polymorphisms and susceptibility to gastric cancer in the Qinghai population, China. METHODS: Patients with gastric cancer and cancer-free controls were enrolled into the study from Qinghai Provincial People's Hospital between September 2016 and September 2018. Single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) were genotyped with the Sequenom MassARRAY® SNP genotype system. The Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium in allele and genotype frequencies, and general characteristics between patients with gastric cancer and cancer-free controls, were evaluated using χ2-test. Potential associations between interleukin gene variants and the risk of gastric cancer were analysed by logistic regression. RESULTS: Among eight candidate SNPs, the allele and genotype frequency distribution of IL-1B rs1143634 polymorphism was significantly different between patients with gastric cancer (n = 190) and cancer-free controls (n = 186). The IL-1B rs1143634 GA genotype and IL-1B rs1143634 GA + AA genotype were associated with a reduced risk of gastric cancer, however, the remaining SNPs were not statistically associated with gastric cancer risk in the Qinghai population. CONCLUSION: The IL-1B rs1143634 polymorphism might be associated with a decreased risk of gastric cancer, and may be a protective factor against gastric cancer.

RESUMO

Recovering nitrogen and phosphorus from waste water in the form of struvite is an effective way to recycle resources. The insufficient purity of the resulting struvite and the large loss of nitrogen and phosphorus are the challenges at present. Therefore, it is urgent to develop innovative method in struvite crystallization process for efficient nitrogen and phosphorus recovery. This study proposed a crystallization method to reduce the loss of nitrogen and phosphorus by a struvite fluidized bed reactor (FBR) with optimized structure and operation conditions. The properties of struvite obtained under various conditions in the reactor were studied, and the internal operating conditions of the reactor were simulated with COMSOL Multiphysics to verify the effectiveness of the reactor optimization. This reactor achieved stable operation under the conditions of N/P = 1:1 and pH = 9.0. The purity of struvite obtained reached 98.5%, the conversion rate of ammonia nitrogen reached 97.2%, and struvite crystals could grow to 84 µm within 24 h. The simulation results showed that the Venturi tubes installed at multiple locations increased the turbulent energy to 4 × 10-4 m2/s2, which greatly improved the mass transfer efficiency. The trajectory of the crystal particles was consistent with the fluid flow field, which promoted the purification and growth of the crystal. In general, the new FBR with enhanced external recirculation would be a very feasible way to improve crystal growth and crystal purification of struvite, and it could enhance the recovery efficiency of nitrogen and phosphorus with reduced cost.

RESUMO

Deposition technology of transparent conducting oxide (TCO) thin films is critical for high performance of optoelectronic devices. Solution-based fabrication methods can result in substantial cost reduction and enable broad applicability of the TCO thin films. Here we report a simple and highly effective solution process to fabricate indium-tin oxide (ITO) thin films with high uniformity, reproducibility, and scalability. The ITO films are highly transparent (90.2%) and conductive (ρ = 7.2 × 10(-4) Ω·cm) with the highest figure of merit (1.19 × 10(-2) Ω(-1)) among all the solution-processed ITO films reported to date. The high transparency and figure of merit, low sheet resistance (30 Ω/sq), and roughness (1.14 nm) are comparable with the benchmark properties of dc sputtering and can meet the requirements for most practical applications.
